I've been considering doing a homework report of Petra. Can people tell me about important attributes (geological in nature) of Petra? Or has anyone heard of other unusual geographic areas that can be discussed in terms of Geology?

I only have to discuss important geological attributes of any area on Earth, and while Petra is very impressive historically and geographically, I can't find much "geologic" discussion on it.

Honestly, the reasons Petra is an important and significant location are the ones that make it not the best choice for discussing geology. Petra is significant culturally and historically, but not really geologically. Unless you want to make a study of the type of stone it is, because that will have had an impact on the building of Petra - some stone is easier to carve than others - I don't know for sure, because I've never checked, but I'm guessing Petra is some sort of sandstone - which would make sense, because sandstone is a red colour and is fairly soft and easy to carve. If you went at your assignment from that angle, you'd probably find more geological discussion.

Aye, Petra is a man-made wonder, not a natural one. Examples of interesting places in Canada that you could talk about: Niagara Falls, the Bay of Fundy, Osoyoos, Cypress Hill, the Badlands of Alberta, specifically around Drumheller

Yeah, Petra's not especially interesting geology-wise.
