Rooms:

Marty's Room:

Marty's room has purple walls with white outlines. His room has a nice purple carpet salvaged from the Aceford Manor fire. The carpet is warm and fuzzy, there is an odd bulge in the middle of the carpet. On Marty's desk there is an old portrait of Marty, Marty's father, Marty's mother, and Shada. Marty looks happier than anyone has ever seen him. His hair is perfectly done, his eyes shine, and he holds his wife's waist. His wife looks just as happy as him. His Mother looks very happy but his Father is frowning at Marty. Marty has it facing the only window in his room. Marty's bed has a nice blue blanket made of a warm material. Marty's pillows are soft and fuzzy. Marty has a white closet with gold knobs. His clothes hang on white hangers. Marty is very neat and tidy. He has a very small bathroom with a small shower. Marty is a very clean person. Marty has a drawer. The drawer is black with purple knobs. Inside the drawer is a gift addressed to Marty from Shada, it reads, Dear Marty,
Open this when you're ready.
Love,
Shada.
The lower drawer is locked. Marty has the key. Under the bed is a burnt metal chest that is missing a key. The room is cozy.

The Main Room:

The downstairs is warm and bright. A magical fire is always burning, the fire is blue. There are five nice tables with four tables each. There is a long bar. Behind the bar there is a long rack filled with various alcohols, juices, and mixes. Behind the bar is a door with a shiny window. The door leads to the kitchen. The inns walls are brick. The roof is very tall. The room all in all radiates warmth and kindness. Marty likes the room clean. There are four windows.

Kitchen:

The kitchen is Marty's room. The walls are white and shining. Marty has a huge spice rack filled with every spice in existence. The spices are arranged via alphabetical order. The spices are so varied that the spice rack seems to be a rainbow mix of bright and dull colors. There are every type of cookers, ovens, and microwaves. A wall of pans hang on the left wall. Marty's white protective clothes hang on the wall. A large sink is perfectly clean and two sponges lay inside. There are two fridges filled with food. Marty loves this room.

Elkandar's Room:

Elkandar's room has a nice gray wall, with white outline. There is a small balcony jutting out the inn. The balcony overlooks Inside. The view of the sunset is good on the balcony. There is a large wooden closet with nice white knobs. Inside is a selection of Elkie's clothes. There are two drawers filled with Elkandar's undergarments. There is a small vase filled with flowers on one drawer. Elkandar's bed is rather large. The satin covers a re very comfy and smooth. The pillows are soft and squishy. Hanging on a wall via a mantle is Elkandar's lute, shining in its case. He has a small bookcase filled with some books. The room is small but comfy.

Tyalla's Room

Tyalla and Shada used to share this room. There are two beds in this large room. The walls are a nice dark green texture with black outline. Plants hang from the ceiling and various multicolored flowers lying in bright vases litter the room. The ceiling has plants hung in the intricate rafters. The room smells richly like a sweet mix of flowers, pollen, and honey. There are two large oak closets. One is filled with Tyalla's clothes while the other is filled with Shada's. There are two drawers, each with a plant on them. Inside Tyalla's drawer are an assortment of small clothes, such as socks, and hidden underneath is a box with her wedding ring inside. Shada's drawer has her private clothes inside. Shada's blade is leaning against the wall when not in use. Shada's bed has a dark purple satin sheet with a black comforter. Her black pillows are very soft. Tyalla's bed has a green comforter and white sheets. There is an old portrait of a countryside on the right wall. The room is very nice albeit slightly crowded.

Room Eleven:

This room is always locked. There is no way inside. The only way to enter would be by somehow breaking the iron locks. Marty has the only key to unlock the door. He never ever uses it. There are odd sounds coming from the door occasionally. Odd music blasts from this door every once in a while. There is a constant bright light peering from a crack under the door.

The Cellar:

The door to get down here is also locked. Marty and Griktak have skeleton keys that unlock all doors in the inn except room 11. Only Marty has the key to that one. Inside the cellar is a large amount of barrels filled with various wines, spirits, and beers. There is a rat problem down here. There is a false barrel. Inside the large barrel is a tunnel. Wide enough for someone to crawl inside. Marty has never been down there. He is unaware of the things existence. The cellar is rather boring apart from the false barrel.

Bellan is suddenly embraced, and he pats Marty lightly on the shoulder. He's getting used to the graciousness that comes in response to charity, but not hugs. Still not used to hugs. "That's really not necessary, Marty..." He doesn't like to be owed debts. For several reasons.

After Trissy's put in place, Bellan kneels beside her body. He raises his hands and holds them out to either side, palms out. Some may notice the veins beneath his arms glowing green briefly. The air around his fingers seems to ripple, as if there were some intense heat.

Then he claps, creating a resounding pop that should ring in everyone's ears. A subtle power seems to fill the air around them. A force and a feeling of rightness that is almost oppressive in its strength. "The Wheel is with us this day, my friends. You may proceed." He gestures toward Rainbow's father, then places his hands on his knees and bows his head in reverence.
He places his hands on the intricate diagram and a flash of light goes of briefly as the alchemy takes effect.
He then stands up.
"She should be back now."

T'rissylene spasms a few times as a large ethereal tarantula floats out of her chest and dissipates. Finally, she lies unconscious but slowly breathing. Her facial scar has disappeared in the process. However, the spiderweb pattern remains carved in her back.

The armored man chuckles at this. "Yeah, I bet it is. How often do fights happen 'round here?"

"Well I wouldn't call them fights, but people do seem to like beating him up a lot." Tom says, pointing at the ill-fated Marty. Honestly, the poor half-elf's regular beat-downs are far to one-sides to be called fights.

Two tall masculine figures burst into the tavern. One begins sniffing the air whilst the other watches slightly embarrased.
"The smells in here," he says as he runs up the stairs.
The other turns to the others in the tavern, "please...excuse us," he says as he follows the other one up the stairs.

The two 'corpse'-carriers have not escaped Bellan's notice. His eyes narrow. "Rainbow, go upstairs and pick a room you like." He stands and moves to stop the men, giving Rainbow one last look to ensure she's moving. "I'll be back shortly."

That done with, the two men may find themselves confronted by a tall, muscular human warrior. His features are strong, his eyes green, his black hair cut in a military style. He calls out to the men, saying, "Excuse me. What are you doing with those girls?"

He shoots the Sarge and Tom a questioning glance, worried that they'll be hurt if this conversation goes downhill. Oh well, nothing to be done about it now.

The two brothers, Fenghar and Aladar find themselves in yet another sticky situation. The third situation in the last two days.
Fenghar sighs as Aladar puts the seemingly dead body on his shoulder. Fenghar throws the body he has onto Aladar's other shoulder.
"These girls here have been turned and are now partially undead. Judging by the blood stains on them the one on my brother's left shoulder is the one who can control the dead and she turned them."
The other brother takes on from there.
"Do you know what happens when you turn undead? The scent of your blood lingers in the air, strecthing over thousands of kilometers and the only ones who can smell it are the undead. You could say...that these two are like hotspots and will be attracting thousands of undead creatures for days. Many of the undead wish to be alive once more and when someone does a ritual to turn undead there's a risk of someone from outside coming in and using the ritual to make themselves whole again...we were just here to protect them."
Aladar reveals a sinister smirk, knowing that they'd be willing to fight and the thought of a 3 on 2 makes him...excited.
"Aladar, stop it!"
"Sorry...i'm just getting pumped."
"There's no need to fight them."
Fenghar turns to the three people keeping them from their destination.
"As I said before...please...excuse...us."
Fenghar's words seem to be more friendly but the way he says the sentence sounds like all the anger within him's going to explode.
The last two situations were caused by his brother so you can guess who caused this one.
Aladar gives off an evil glare and if the will of anyone within the room isn't strong enough they would feel a cold chill shivering down their spine which could leave them temporarily paralyzed. On top of that, Aladar's anger causes all the food and drinks around him to rot and spoil. It's clear that the abilities of these two don't exactly show that their good but whilst Aladar does all the dramatic moves Fenghar just takes off his gloves which would appear to be more ominous seeing as he does less but less could always be more.
If they look they'd see that his hands appear to be normal but there might be more that meets the eye.

"Well, you're lying." Tom, as ever, is just the epitome of tact. "That is, I happen to be undead myself and...... Words peter out, replaced by puzzlement as Tom notices something odd going on. Puzzlement becomes horror as he raises a hand to his face and sees the flesh peeling away, the skin splitting like gum stretched too thin and falling away like old plaster.

This horror is in no way assuaged as Tom begins feeling his face itself, praying to whatever foreign gods he believes in that it is somehow unharmed, only for his fingers to sink right through the putrid, jelly-like mass that his eye has decayed into.

And before he was so well preserved for a decades old corpse...

So this is where Tom has been pushed too damn far, inciting a flicker of actual emotion from the lethargic undead. Well, more than a flicker. Much more. The last remnant of his human life is rotting away thanks to these bastards and Tom is steamed. With a worldless scream of anger he hurls himself at the nearest brother, moving in a blur as he tries to tackle Aladar to the ground and pin him there.

Oh, joy! Combat! Quite honestly, the man in the goofy pseudo-Canadian military uniform has no idea about how undead things work. But the fact that these two corrupted poor Tom's form is enough for him. He unlatches his rifle from a special holding bag on his back in a swift motion that ends with the gun's safety being switched off and the gun pointed at Fenghar. At the same time, a skin-tight forcefield begins to form around his body. He'll attempt to do the same for Tom, but he doesn't know how exactly his psionic powers would effect Tom, if they would at all.

On him, however, it provides a higher level of protection strong enough to stop most forms of light arms fire. Anything stronger than that will probably be able to burst through it with little difficulty.

How did this turn from small talk to a lecture on piety? Ah, well. It's not something Romeo isn't used to. In the old days he would have just done his best to look cowed, and nod, but two years with a kooky old wizard... "Ray of sunshine, this one," he says aside to the blind halfling.

"Hmmm...he didn't see it," Fenghar says telepathically.
"Maybe he's lying."
"Or maybe...only certain types of undead creatures can smell it."

"It's unfortunate that you don't believe us," Fenghar says, Aladar casting a spell that'd turn the brothers and the bodies invisible which would allow them to escape whilst Fenghar moves in front of Aladar, grabs one of the bodies and attempts to kick Tom to the side and hold to body in front of him just in case the man with the rifle decided to make a move.

A few minutes (in Nexus time anyways) deadtimed, and Nixa misses what could possibly have been an interesting fight to partake in. "Typical."

She's about to turn and vanish upstairs to torment her new brother - because really, nothing alleviates boredom like tossing flames in the faces of those who are susceptible to burns - but she figures it's high time she actually did something about the kidnapping.

"Hey you. Short, annoying, halfling-guy!" Wow. Polite description. "Are you still looking for Akoraun?"

Not the reaction she was expecting. He sounded nearly unconcerned, though she hadn't missed the slight tensing. Interesting.

"Exactly? "No. You're forgetting Vierzt. Which means we're either quadruplets or, as is significantly more likely, a bizarre genetic experiment by the drows." That's the only explanation Nixa has, anyways.

"Not that it matters much. All you need know is that I believe that if Akoraun is so idiotic as to get himself nabbed, he can suffer the consequences." Which is not how she feels. She really does want to help. It's her own planet, her own brother, by all means she should already be there, trying to get him back. But this wasn't some irritating lordling or prince she could fry on his 'throne', but a mindflayer who knows her exact weaknesses, who was an expert at cracking into minds and tearing around thoughts and emotions. She had to play this carefully. "Of course, if you rounded up a few people to take over... if I knew there was no way this could fail... if I had a promise sealed in blood that you wouldn't leave anyone, especially not me, in the hands of that creature, then I could perhaps take you there."

Is Nixa insane? Perhaps. The same can be said for most, if not all, of her dragon-siblings. Heck, maybe even the drow ones too!

"Have you any idea how rare naturally occurring quadruplets are? I certainly don't, but it's nothing I've ever heard of on Laira. This is the drow we're talking about here, my bet is still on genetic experiments." Or maybe that's just paranoia.

"Ooh, yes, you'd be perfect fodder for his critters. And while they're dining on you, I could sneak past and free Akoraun. What a foolproof plan!" Usually it'd be just like Nixa to march in without any thought to anything, and try to purge everything with fire. But this time? "Yes, Vierzt could help perhaps. We'll need an alchemist too though, or a cleric, or someone who can do something about Beren's mind-control techniques... but make no mistake, I will not follow in your footsteps. I am in charge here, do not forget that halfling." Nixa has a minor obsession with dominance statures. It's never wise to argue power with a dragon.

Unless Rick can beat the speed of an angry Lairan dragoness (which is difficult to do), he may find he's been punched.

Which is less than it sounds. The thick black gloves are designed to conceal and cushion her long curving claws, so he won't be scratched at all. They're also fireproof, so he can't even feel the flames that dance across her swollen, terrible burns on her hands. Not to mention that physical strength is not a strong point of Nixa's, though as it's aimed at his face it may still hurt a little.

So what would such a pathetic attack do?

...Well, not much at all. Except make her feel a bit better without burning down the tavern. Which is good for just about everyone there. Good on you, Nixa, for not going full dragon and spewing fire everywhere.

The vines do wrap around Nixa's feet, though she finds them amusing more than annoying, and resolves to burn them off if they get too annoying. She doesn't even notice Vierzt yet.

Nixa calms significantly the moment she's released.

"Well, that settles it. You are most definitely not joining our expedition for Akoraun, halfling. Though the cleric is still welcome, and maybe Rick too."

As they're no longer needed, Nixa's wings fold back against her, leaving her almost entirely uncovered. A while ago, this would have bothered her a great deal, and perhaps on some level it still does. On the topmost layer, however, the one that portrays an aura of pride, she doesn't care at all. Nixa is gorgeous, and she knows it. Oh, she may be in a room filled entirely with men, but if they want to look they can and being embarrassed wouldn't help at all.

"Thank-you, brother. Almost makes me sorry for pushing you out of the inn." She heads towards the stairs again, but before she vanishes up them, winks at him, and repeats "almost". Then she's gone, and will reappear several minutes later once dressed in an entirely identical swirling black dress.

Nixa heard all the comments, but had decided it would be more appropriate to clothe herself before answering any of them.

When she gets down, she addresses Romeo first. "You're horribly pale, you know. You don't have to be scared. If I had any quarrel with you, you'd be on fire already, so never you fear." And winks at him.

Next is Claudius, and by this point Nixa is more amused with the brief bit of chaos she's caused, than anything else. "You know, if you take such an objection to that, you ought to go see my big sister, Prism. You two would be an adorable, and totally mockable match."

And then she reaches Vierzt, she manages to keep a serious face for all of three seconds before... laughing? Okay, so she's not angry. The contrary, actually. She kisses her brother on the cheek (provided he lets her), and walks away with only an "and one of these days we shall see who's stronger, but I doubt either of us are weaklings." She'll leave the 'who's Akoraun' for the halfling to explain.

And no, she doesn't address Yohannes.

Speaking bird is definitely weird. And yet, Nixa knows better than to question it. Maybe he's a druid type. Nixa has a lot of respect for druids. Odd, but maybe not so much given the dragon den's close proximity to the Shifter Hold.

"As I said, brother, we'll see. But now truly isn't the time or place. Can everyone get ready to go? We really do need to get Akoraun outta there soon. Now where's that cleric guy? We still need some way of keeping our minds clear."

She skims the room, and spots him off grumbling to himself. Hopefully she can catch him before he leaves the inn. "Hey Claudius! Still want to travel with us, or am I too sinful? I gotta say, I'm sporting at least three of the seven deadly sins, so if you have any soul-saving to do, I'd make a pretty damn good project. And you'd get to save a helpless little kid too. But if you'd rather let him die... well, may whatever deity you serve forgive you for that."

And last of all: "Rick Brutal, is it? Do- hey, what are you doing with that metal cube?" Her attempt to cajole him into helping ends abruptly. What is he doing with that cube?

The door to the tavern opens wide, and a rather imposing man strides in. He is very tall, well over six feet, and deeply tanned, his skin tough and leathery. It's hard to determine his age, but probably late forties or early fifties judging by his greying hair. He wears a black robe and a wide brimmed black hat, and it is evident from his collar that he is a clergyman. His dark grey eyes survey the tavern, flicking back and forth rapidly as he glares around.

Dramatic entrance done with, he smiles warmly and walks over to the bar. "Hallo there. I'm the Reverend McLohan, at your service. Is there anyone staying here by the name of Marty, or," he consults a piece of paper, "T'rissylene? I was told to meet them here." He speaks in a decidedly Irish accent, his voice deep and soothing.

He glares over at the Reverend. He walks menacingly over to him. His black eyes, grey hair, and angry, gaunt, scary face leer over at him. Who are you? An Elf stumbles in. The man has a stubble layered upon his chin, thick, with prominent sideburns on top of that, and his hair is long, blond, and unkempt to a point, while still not looking to ratty. His eyes are rather squinted, pupils dilated, expression very relaxed. He wears an off-white t shirt, with stains about it of different colours, as well as ash and several small holes about it. on top he has a brown leather vest, equally as frayed and beaten as the shirt, adorned with peace signs and symbols of that likeness. His jeans are torn and worn out as well, and flared. His tennis shoes bear the marking of a long journey with many scuffs and the colour is obviously sun faded. He removes the old headphones from his head as he slowly and calmly enters, which are attached to an obviously second-hand Walkman, and then looks about, his eyes getting slightly wider as he observes. He then states, rather loudly, "Whoa, they have beer here!" for all the patrons to hear; obviously already blitzed, or something of that nature. He makes his way to the bar and then proceeds to slowly ask for a beer after several quiet minutes, and lights up a cigarette with a dirty Zippo lighter.

...For reasons she still hasn't asked about, actually. Still not sure whether she and Marty had done something to chase him off and then he'd been captured, or whether she'd been so irresponsible as to let him be taken right under her view.

Either way, that makes this pretty awkward.

Okay... the guy in the weird outfit is new.

Settling into a chair, she glances quickly at Romeo. Fear? Interesting. Not sure why he's so afraid of this man, so maybe caution would be best.

She rolls her bright red eyes dramatically. "Awfully rude, halfling. I might ask you why you're blind, then." That... is filled with hypocrisy. Still, calling her out on it may be dangerous. Or she may just laugh. Hard to tell with Nixa.

She fixes her eyes now on the doctor. "You aren't likely to get much service here. The bartender and his wife are in hiding, I think." Still, she can be proved wrong if his player decides to godmode Metaclock the golem, who (can probably be) godmodeable for smallish tasks of fixing food and delivering drinks around the bar.

Magical ritual.

The couple own the Inn, then? T'rissylene and the husband?

The plague doctor very politely avoids mentioning how terrible it must be for business if all your staff is more or less cowering in a corner, and how much harder it is to cower without a decent pile of money to grease palms and cover one's tracks. Instead he starts working on a new note, before the two can reply to his last one.

Reverend McLohan walks over to Nixa, a cheerful smile on his face. Apparently she knows something about the couple he is searching for, something that has so far proved fruitless. He extends his hand in greeting to her, nodding at the plague doctor as he passes.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Reverend Gavin McLohan, and I'm afraid I have a bad habit of eavesdropping. Probably from one too many confessions." He chuckles. "Regardless, I was wondering if you knew the whereabouts of one Marty, and his fiance T'rissylene? I have corresponded with the latter, and I was told to come here. They are in need of a priest, you see." Although aside from the priestly garb, McLohan doesn't look much like a man of the cloth. With his tanned skin and lean muscles, he seems more like an aged cowboy or a sailor than a priest. Still, looks are often deceiving, something the Reverend has taken to heart. He certainly doesn't seem perturbed by the drowess or the plague doctor, in any case.

"There are rooms, yes," she says, answering the doctor first. Always answer the more potentially dangerous person first. "But of course, there's no-one to take them from. My advice? Pick a room, stay in it, and if there are still no employees when you're done than it's their own ****ing fault they're practically being robbed, and you can keep your money."

And with that... er, 'friendly' advice, she turns to the reverend. "Yep, I'm sure they do. Little sis' may want to get some of those horrible sins of her chest, I suppose? Or, if you're here to marry them instead, which is disturbingly probable, then they're upstairs preparing to flee like cowards, and goodness knows why. I can hear them through the floorboards, but still can't make heads or tails of their plans." But that's mostly for lack of attention. She can hear most things with those drow/draconic senses, but finds it more annoying than useful, and ignores most of the input.

Sneaky Weasel

The Reverend nods his head in affirmation. "They asked me to marry them, yes. If they are upstairs, I suppose I shall just wait for them to come down. Undoubtedly they are expecting me to be here at some point." His forehead wrinkles in thought. Admittedly, he has heard some unsavory reports about the Drow, but has so far had no personal experience to back them up. In any case, Nixa doesn't seem to be evil, just refreshingly blunt.

"So you're T'rissylene's sister? If it would not be rude of me to ask, is she on the run from something? What exactly are they fleeing from?" McLohan doesn't actually know anything about the couple, simply giving them the benefit of the doubt, but learning more is always a good thing.

No, Nixa doesn't side with 'good', or 'evil'. Just chaos, fun and flame.

"I don't know much. I have too many siblings to keep track of them all. Didn't even know Trissy was my blood until a few days ago. Nevertheless, my keen dragon eyes didn't miss her dead body being lugged in by a little brother right under my nose, dumped here and left for others to raise. I watched. It was over-dramatic."

Nixa grins at McLohan. "Assuming you can't make the connection, she was in the Underdark a few days ago, wound up dead, and is now fleeing. My best guess? She murdered some important drow down there, and is being hunted for it. It sounds... rather typical, actually, for someone of my blood." Except the whole running and hiding bit. Most of her siblings, including her, would rather pick up a weapon, and turn to face their attackers in a flurry of scales, blood, and magic.

"So that's their tale, in all it's lack of flourish. You got a tale? Always in the mood for a good one. Perhaps you could answer this, Preacher, why is it you look more suited to farming or mercenary work than praying to whichever diety? You appear more soldier than reverend."

Although he gives no sign of it, the Reverend is somewhat taken aback. She has too many siblings to keep track of? Only having one brother himself, it's almost impossible to imagine what that must be like. The dark elves are strange indeed.

He chuckles as the conversation turns to his past. "Tell me, could I truly serve the path of Goodness if I was weak in body? Those who concentrate on spiritual matters while letting their physical forms deteriorate are simply wasting a great gift.
"But it's true that I wasn't always a Priest. I grew up in the Highlands of Craven, a place of hardship and war. Nothing compared to the Underdark, I'm sure, but enough that everyone was trained for battle at a young age. I was part of the McLohan Clan, the best of the bunch, or the worst depending on how you look at it." The Priest shakes his head at the memory.

"I became a priest after I saw the pointlessness of my Clan's eternal war. Devoting one's life to the good of others is far more valuable than trying to kill them. Of course, I'm more tolerant than most priests because of my own somewhat bloody past." He smiles. "Not a terribly exciting story, but most stories really aren't."

Well, she only has four drow siblings. Her dragon siblings are the ones that are endless. And with them constantly falling at one another's hands, and rising others to take their place, they change so often she's lost track of them.

Nixa laughs, "I've sat through much more boring a tale."

She stands, slips around behind the bar and looks longingly at the liquor. The first and last time she'd ever tried it had ended with a giant fireball. She couldn't remember the taste, but had seen the effects on all of her siblings and had always wished to try some at some point. Still, she slides past it and pours herself a dismally ordinary glass of water instead. And even that proves difficult for a red dragon to drink. She does not offer the reverend anything, but figures that he either doesn't drink, or frowns upon stealing even a lick of alcohol.

"The path of Goodness. And what, in your eyes, makes a person 'good'? Perhaps 'good' is defending your family in this war you've abandoned. Or 'good' would be to stay around that area and try to ease the suffering of the wounded. So in this instance, does 'good' define the act of marrying a likely evil drow to a half-elf who reeks of paranoia?"

Sneaky Weasel
2012-07-25, 03:42 PM
McLohan goes over and leans on the bar. It really wouldn't have bothered him much had Nixa taken some alcohol, being that her sister runs the inn. She's practically entitled to help herself, within reason. Of course, he wouldn't want any himself, because it would be impolite for a non family member to do so.

He strokes his stubbly beard in thought, thinking her her question through before answering. It isn't often that people are so forthright with Priests, and he considers it a nice change from the usual differential respect.

"I think it all depends on how you look at things. Cast in the correct lighting, nearly anything can be considered 'Good' or 'Evil'. All I can do is try my best to take the course that appears to have the most positive inpact on the world at any given time. For instance, would it really be 'good' to defend a clan of rogues, murderers and hooligans against more of the same? And would aiding the wounded so they could go on killing with greater vigor really the best way to benefit the world? Or would leaving them behind and trying to help those who don't bring trouble on themselves be a better course of action?" The Reverend grins ruefully, not even sure if he's actually right about this. If only there was some universal distinction between good and evil, everything would be so much simpler. But there is no such distinction, or at least none that he's found.

"Regardless, right here and now the best thing I can think of doing is to try to bring some joy into the lives of a couple when no one else seems willing to do so. Even 'evil' people still deserve kindness, after all."

"Do they?" Nixa's voice is very soft, very distant. Suddenly it seems that she's thinking of a specific example. "I'd argue against that." But she doesn't give any reasons for it, which is unlike her. Usually she'll argue with anything that moves. All she adds there is: "strongly."

Anyways, considering that Nixa met Trissy a few days ago, they had a huge argument which almost ended in Nixa frying her sisters fiancee, and then she sat idly by and watched her sister be raised without helping or offering payment for services, she's probably not entitled to take what she wants from the tavern. In fact, seeing as her dragon siblings exploded the tavern, and Nixa has the potential to explode the tavern all over again, especially if liquor is uncorked near her, it's surprising she's not been asked to leave.

"You know what's easier? Stepping away from all that ranking and order and living as you like. Chaos. Not always honest, but if you're a decent person and not about to go on a mass-killing spree, it works well enough." She shrugs, "still, soul-saving's for some, and a general disregard for other beings is for others."

She thinks for a moment. "What deity did you say you followed?"

Yes, that way of living is easier. But if ease was the goal, then McLohan certainly wouldn't have become a Priest. Politeness forbears him from saying anything out loud, however. He doesn't blame her for looking out for number one, he's just glad that not everyone lives like that.

"I didn't say which deity I worshiped, because I really don't. Or rather, I pay homage to any god who entreats its followers to help others, and to better themselves. There's no one deity that I praise above the rest." There are many gods worth worshiping, and devoting himself to a single one seems pointless.

He looks up as Vierzt enters the tavern. Nodding in greeting, he tries to ascertain what the newcomer looks like.
"Hello there. I'm the Reverend Gavin McLohan, at your service."

"That," Nixa laughs, "means that you'd despise my own deity."

And then Vierzt enters. If I may take the liberty to describe him a teeny bit in relation to Nixa? The two are of an identical height, with the same skin tones, and hair color. Which is hardly odd as they're both drow, but there's certainly a likeness between them that's obviously no coincidence. The only major difference is the eyes, as Nixa's are a red, flickering and dancing like flame. "Now now, little brother, I'll have no demeaning shortenings of my name. It's short enough as is, and is a wonderfully proud name anyways."

She moves to greet him, but backs away quickly when he takes out the liquor bottle.

As the masked doctor walks up stairs Romeo notices and walks after him, covering his mouth with his robes. As he reaches the top stairs, Romeo yells, "Mffter! Mffter!" muffled by his robes.

The Doctor may run into Elio standing in front of that door, noticing then staring at the man, first with a look of shock, coming from the same culture as Romeo, followed by suspicion. Before the doctor gets too close he heavily slams his hand on the wall before the door, forming a wall with his body. "May I help you?" he asks rather loudly.

The note that the doctor had been working on is dropped into a pocket, and is instead replaced with another as the man writes up a new one. Y'know, for a doctor, he has awfully legible handwriting. :smallconfused:

As stated earlier, I am in need of lodging.

And there's no polite way of discovering if a room is occupied without knocking first! It's not like there's any staff around the place to help anyone, unfortunately. The couple in charge really ought to put up a 'Help Wanted' sign in the front window or something.

Oh goodie, a write everything down gimmick. Elio roles his eyes and pulls out a pair of reading glasses and reads the doctor's note. "Mmhmm, might I recommend Trog's. It's right down the street, in either direction. I'm sorry to be so curt, but the upstairs is going to have to be off limits for a period, the owner has gone into deadtime with his fiancee and we're in a bit of a pickle." While speaking to the doctor, the old wizard looks him once over with magical sight, just to see if this speechless man is packing anything he should worry about, or if he is something he should worry about.

Romeo tries his hardest not to breathe unnecessarily while standing downwind from the doctor and Elio. Yes, he is aware they are in door, but if Elio is facing in your direction you are always downwind.

"We're the same age, actually." Nixa would do something that could be easily mistaken for sibling love by anyone who didn't know her - such as tousle his hair - but he's still got that drink, so she stays well clear. "I'm just more mature."

...no. She's not. But a dominance battle is really not something she desires right now, so that's what she goes with.

"Are you his girlfriend?" She asks Divebomb. How like her to be totally unsubtle.

Aiden walks into the Sleeping Goblin, looking alert for once. He looks around in the inn for anyone official-looking that he can talk to for a job.

That would be Nixa! Or... well, sorta. See, she's not actually in charge, but seeing as there are currently no employees here and she's the sister of the wife of the owner, she's probably the closest he's going to get for a little while.

Besides, this place has so few employees, Nixa's thinking of just announcing herself the new owner of the tavern, and dealing with anyone who objects. And why not? Trissy probably wouldn't hurt her, or let Marty hurt her, and it would give her something to do other than fiddling with magic spells and taunting her siblings. Who knows, maybe Vierzt would even help her!

Still, for now, she has little to do with the running of the tavern. But considering she's behind the counter and is dressed like a professional mage in her crisp black robes, she looks as though she's in charge.

Excellent. Two things are going her way already.

The first would be that she's found a weapon against Akoraun. Nothing much, but it proves she can cut through his calm disposition, and if she could set him off guard, it would be so much easier for her to claim dominance later.

For now, she doesn't answer him, waiting for the girl's response, and enjoying how flustered he is.

The second is this newcomer. But before she can plot, she has to get a better understanding of who he is.

Yes, I thought that might have been a bit too vague. Magical sight would basically allow Elio to see if the doctor has any magical or supernatural items on him, has a magical aura of his own from being either a magical being or powerful magic user, or is under the affect of any enchantments and possibly the nature of those enchantments.

Elio reads the note and seems to contemplate it for a moment. After deliberation, the old wizard looks over the doctor's shoulder to speak to his apprentice. "Romeo, could you go downstairs? I'll be a moment." Without hesitation Romeo runs down the stairs to the room with the others. Elio then turns his attentions to the doctor. "I'm sorry, I'm not normally so rude, but I'm going to have to very seriously insist that you leave. Please."

Meanwhile downstairs, Romeo seeks out a someone he hopes he can trust. "Miss Nixa? My master might be getting into a fight upstairs. I think it might be someone after your sister. You know powerful magic right. Can you help him?" The master and apprentice sort of met Nixa at Arcanus, and she's Trissylene's sister, so she should be willing to help, right?

He rolls his eyes a bit when Nixa asks what to call him. "Name's Aiden. If you want to be official, you can call me Mr. Kester."

Nixa's about to introduces herself, too, but is forced to stop for a moment to think. Being official is hard because she has a whole bunch of different possibilities for her own names. She's either: Ms Vivilandra, Ms. B'xarenef, Ms. Akor, or even a few others. It all really depends on how much time one has to spend with another in order to take their last name. Some cultures say 'marriage', but the whole life-force-entwining with Saer was bonding enough.

"Um, Aiden is fine. If you want to settle in, or look around a bit, now is your chance. Otherwise, my brother's girlfriend if she'd like anything." She doesn't mention Vierzt 'cause he's helping himself. As for Divebomb, well she'd offer her a drink herself, but she doesn't want to appear doting.

Not that she has any chance of appearing doting, for her next words, directed at Vierzt, are:

"Not what, little brother? Not pink or not in love? You can't argue against being pink, I'm afraid. It's a rather alarming shade. And it only proves you've got a crush too." She shakes her head sadly, as though he's a lost cause.

When Divebomb takes offense, she only smiles. "I'm sure you are. It's just, why would such a lovely... uhm," she looks distastefully at the costume, "lady, like yourself want to waste time playing at love? I must say, I'm rather shocked such an emotion caught on at all."

Before Aiden does anything else, she leans towards him and points a finger. "Oh, um, can I have a rum n' Coke? Diet, please." She flashes a complimentary smile. "Thaaanks."

Villainess? Nixa?

Well... maybe. Sometimes. Not really right now. I mean, at least she hasn't burned down the tavern. Yet.

"That doesn't matter." She answers flatly. If one sparks the memories of Saer or Beren, one sees the darker side of Nixa. Case in point: "It's a simple fact that it is useless. All in means is that you have one more person to keep control of, to keep submissive, else they'll stab you in the back and move on. Watch yourself. This is my brother, remember."

As for Aiden, well, he never really asked what the job pays. Nixa may be under the impression that she doesn't need to pay him at all! She isn't, but he can't know that. :smalltongue:

I guess. Never read a book before. Don't know how. But if that was true, how would anyone get started with their first novel?

Devixer

Aiden sighs. Of course Vierzt didn't know what he was talking about, he couldn't even read. "Where I come from, a writer tries over and over and over until someone takes pity on them. This isn't where I come from, though, and I have to see any sort of publisher in the Nexus, let alone the pity-taking type."

Dark Elf Bard
2012-08-10, 05:14 PM
Vierzt shrugs. Dun't need to be a publisher, if you want it mass produced. Just go to someone big in Nexus. Magtok, Ilpholin, Dipsnig... all have a lot influence and fame.

Devixer

Aiden gives Vierzt a very flat look. "You want me to go to people who would kill me as soon as look at me and ask them to spread a book around?" He shakes his head and keeps serving drinks.

Dark Elf Bard
2012-08-10, 05:23 PM
Vierzt raises an eyebrow. Maybe it's just me, but they don't seem threatening. To me, at least. Should I go with you for protection?

Vierzt seems half-joking, -half-serious.

Devixer
2012-08-10, 11:39 PM
"You know, call me crazy, but I wouldn't be much more comfortable if you came along for 'protection.'" Aiden starts to whistle a little, cleaning a few used mugs.

Dark Elf Bard
2012-08-11, 10:30 AM
Well, then go talk to them.

...Real good logic there, Vierzt.

Devixer

Aiden sighs. "Yeah. Sure. Whatever, I'll go risk my hide for a book."

Dark Elf Bard
2012-08-11, 11:43 AM
Vierzt shrugs.

Guess you're not meant to be a writer, if you dno't want to publish a book.

Devixer
2012-08-11, 11:52 AM
"Shut up," Aiden says. His tone of voice suddenly got a lot less friendly.

Dark Elf Bard
2012-08-11, 12:02 PM
Vierzt looks Aiden straight in the eye.

Why? It makes sense. If you don't want to try to publish a book, then you must not be a writer.

Devixer
2012-08-11, 12:04 PM
"Stop acting like you know what you're talking about." Of course Aiden wants to publish a book, but he's never been much of an optimist.

Dark Elf Bard
2012-08-11, 12:05 PM
Vierzt laughs with a smirk. And you do?

Devixer
2012-08-11, 12:06 PM
"I know more about the business than you do, that's for damn sure." That's probably the last thing Aiden says to Vierzt. he's not exactly happy right now.

Dark Elf Bard
2012-08-11, 12:09 PM
Vierzt smirks more. Makes since to me. How can you be, or even want to be a writer, if no one actually sees what you write? Is you even write at all.

Devixer
2012-08-11, 12:11 PM
Aiden decides not to continue the conversation by mentioning that he actually has been published back home, and that apparently not wanting to die equaled not wanting to be a writer. Instead, he stays behind the bar and keeps serving drinks.

Marty undeadtimes! Uh...what's going on?

Lord Magtok
2012-08-21, 07:10 PM
The doctor picks himself up out of his seat, nods, and heads upstairs. T'rissylene and Marty may hear a soft knock at their door, three taps against the frame in quick succession, assuming they're not blasting really loud techno music or something in there. Meanwhile, the plague doctor waits, writing out yet another note on a small scrap of paper.

This is what's going on, Marty.

Hon, I, uh... have some news.

II'm, uh...

Just say it!

I'm pregnant. About two more weeks until I'm having a little baby girl.

((Drow pregnancy is quick. So many females in the city... all born very fast after impregnation.))

Trissy squeezes her eyes shut, scared of Marty's reaction.

Meanwhile, Mr. Fedora-head walks up to the bar with a frown...not that it can be seen, since, hankerchief.
"Is there a problem here?" he addresses Elio (I presume) Romeo (I guess).

"You...You're pregnant! Oh gods Trissy that's wonderful! I'm going to be a father!" He rushes back to Trissy, leaving the door slightly open, completely forgetting about the person at the door.

Dark Elf Bard
2012-08-21, 07:57 PM
Trissy lets out a breath. Oh my gods. I was afraid you would be angry...

Yes, that was the reason behind my death. But she was resurrected with me, and she's doing great, very healthy!

She embraces her husband with a kiss and a hug.

Wanna feel her kick?

As the masked doctor walks up stairs Romeo notices and walks after him, covering his mouth with his robes. As he reaches the top stairs, Romeo yells, "Mffter! Mffter!" muffled by his robes.

The Doctor may run into Elio standing in front of that door, noticing then staring at the man, first with a look of shock, coming from the same culture as Romeo, followed by suspicion. Before the doctor gets too close he heavily slams his hand on the wall before the door, forming a wall with his body. "May I help you?" he asks rather loudly.

((Singingnoodle said in OOC he would be unavailable for awhile, just so you know, so Marty is sort of deadtimed.))

This is also going on.

For Romeo's sake, that also happened.

Meanwhile, Mr. Fedora-head walks up to the bar with a frown...not that it can be seen, since, hankerchief.
"Is there a problem here?" he addresses Elio (I presume). Romeo (I guess).

The lone Bushranger would have heard Romeo's half of that.

((Who should post next in character?))

"Of course I'm not angry...Thank the gods...don't ever go back, stay with me...we're a family now...A happy one...forever." Marty smiled, his lost dream of having a family was complete...his fate was to be happy...he was sure of it. Now, he'd always be happy. All the bad things that had happened were over...he hoped...He'd never realize that happiness was not for him...Fate had a plan for him.

Downstairs, Rick Brutal argued with the priest loudly. No, that's not right! You seriously need a hobby priesty...

((:smallconfused: Fate? Is there a subplot I'm not aware of?))

Trissy smiles back. Her stomach is definitely larger than before, but not by much.

I love you. Do you have any names that come to mind?
