I'm revisiting my monk class, and creating 2 new classes, the Ki Soldier and the Ki mage, who use the same system but have different abilities. The ki soldier uses the ki system, but is more of a traditional warrior than a martial artist, they use weapons and armor, and their ki abilities are geared to this combat style.

The Ki System: the ki system is meant to emulate the abilities of the fighters in the Dragonball series. Ki charges are the units of energy used to power Ki system abilities. A character using the ki system has 1 ki charge per 2 levels in any ki using class(es), plus 1 ki charge per point of wisdom bonus, if any. expended ki charges are regained at a rate of 1 per point of wisdom bonus per 10 minutes of light activity such as walking, or 1 per point of wisdom bonus per minute of rest (sitting or lying, no activity more strenuous than holding a conversation). A ki user's caster level for any ki ability is equal to her level in all classes that grant that ability +1/2 her level in ki using classes that do not grant that ability.

note: while certain official classes, such as the PHB monk and the ninja, make use of Ki based effects, the do not use the Ki system, and so do not provide ki charges or count toward the caster level of any ki abilities.

Skills: Climb, Craft, Handle Animal, Intimidate, Jump, Ride, Swim

Class Features:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Ki soldiers are proficient with simple and martial weapons, light armor, and shields (but not tower shields).

Ki Strike (Su): a ki soldier’s weapons are empowered with ki. Her weapon attacks are treated as force effects for the purpose of hitting incorporeal or ethereal opponents. Ki strike improves with the character’s ki soldier level. at 4th level, her weapon attacks are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of dealing damage to creatures with damage reduction or regeneration.. At 10th level, her weapon attacks are also treated as aligned weapons for the purpose of dealing damage to creatures with damage reduction or regeneration. The alignment must be one component of the monk's alignment, and must be declared before the attack is made. At 16th level, her weapon attacks are treated as any special material for the purpose of dealing damage to creatures with damage reduction or regeneration, and bypassing hardness. The special material must also be declared before the attack is made. At 20th level, her weapon attacks are treated as Epic weapons for the purpose of dealing damage to creatures with damage reduction or regeneration.

Evasion (Ex): Starting at 2nd level, when a ki soldier successfully makes a reflex save that normally has a partial effect on a successful save, she instead takes no effect.

Augment Strike (Su): A ki soldier can augment her attacks with her ki. By spending 1 Ki Charge as a swift action, she gains an insight bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls equal to 1/2 her caster level. this effect lasts for 1 round.

Fast Movement (Ex): At 3rd level, and every 3rd level afterwards, the ki soldier's speed in all her movement modes increases by 10 ft., as shown on the table. A ki soldier loses this extra speed when wearing medium or heavy armor, or when carrying a medium or heavy load.

Flight (Su): A ki soldier of 6th level or higher can expend 2 Ki charges to gain a fly speed equal to her total land speed, with perfect maneuverability, for 1 minute per caster level. Alternatively, she can choose to gain a fly speed equal to 1/2 her land speed, with average maneuverability, for 10 minutes per caster level.
