Unable to post a link at the moment but on En World's news section they mentioned a new series of podcasts involving Mike Mearls and the Penny Arcade team (well all bar Wil Wheaton at present) talking about D&D Next and their feelings on the matter.

Its apparently the first of a four part podcast which will see them gaming in the new edition at Pax at the end of this month (29th of August through to early September).

Anybody else caught this and listened?

If you did what did you think?

It was somewhat interesting. They're asking Mike Mearls questions about D&D Next, especially since Tycho has played various editions, but Gabe's first introduction to the game was 4e.

There was some interesting stuff about 4e's long combats being some of the impetus behind how they're doing the Next rules (for example, players trying to decide how to use all their actions is why they got rid of the minor action).

They're apparently going to be spending the rest of the parts of the podcast converting their party from 4e to Next (despite the fact that the party is level 10 and there are apparently only character creation rules up to level 5 thus far).
