I don't know for sure if anyone else on these forums plays (or ever did play) the MMO City of Heroes, but I figure I can't be the only person whose nerdy hobbies overlap like this.

On Friday, it was announced, quite abruptly, that the game was being shut down. The development offices were immediately closed, and it was announced that the servers would be turned off before the end of the year.

So did anyone else play? Want to share fun memories of the game, or character names/costumes, or something like that?

Oh, you can read the announcement about the shutdown here (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=295621).

A lot of players (myself included) really loved the game, and are very disappointed that it's going to go away. There are a number of ongoing efforts to try to do something about it. I don't want to spam this post with a ton of links, but if any of you are active players, and want to try to keep the game running, let me know, and I can PM you links to the efforts to try to save the game in some fashion.

There's already a thread about this here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254404), in the Gaming section.

Oh, my bad. The search function wasn't working for me this morning.
