As you see Grok, Greenbane tell you,
"Half-orc isnt much better than full orcs. We should kill that one before they cause trouble to the city! We also should deal with that stupid orc now that we are done using him."
You do sense his racist side caring for enemies blood.

Lol, I forgot twice to tell you this lol...

Looking in consternation at his weapon, Bolerum frowns, clearly pained. He remains withdrawn, if polite toward the nearby orc-blooded adventurers. Once they've departed, mindless of other onlookers, he speaks to his sheathed blade,

"Holy sword, I love your zeal and your ferocity against the greenskins. Battle and ultimately a good death against a worthy enemy are fine things! But please know that without comaraderie, my life would be empty. Ung isn't someone I would ever turn you against! I would sooner strike off my own hand!"

"By that same token, until I see clearly that his new companions have fell intentions, I must abide by his judgment and that of Ace-of-Spades."

"Tonight, we will return to the ruins and slake your great thirst with the black blood of many wretched, wicked goblins and less noble orcs."

Greenbane mood brighten up at the mention of heading out in the forest. You do feel that the weapon do understand your values, but he simply cannot overcome his racism, which is at the very core of its personnality.
"I can't wait!", reply the weapon, thinking of killing green skinned enemies.

I've replied this to let you know that greenbane is getting restless when he doesnt get his share of daily goblin. Still, the weapon have complete trust in you, you know that.

History on rod (Part 3, post 42) : (26)

Looking at the rod, you realise that the runes on it arent linked to the rod magic at all. They are simply Surpernal text, the angels language. You also note a few symbols among them that make you sure it is linked to the Pelor religion.

Nice roll.

Religion on the door with sun (23) - IC 3 , post 57

Bolerum inspect the double doors. The symbol is fused into the reinforced double door. It is made of some mix of gold and bronze. While the first idea that comes into mind with a sun is Pelor, it doesnt really look like the pelorian symbol. Still, as you look more carefully, you realise that it is indeed a Pelor insigna, but one that is very old. You remember learning somewhere that the priests modernised the symbol 700 years ago and this is how it looked before that time.

Dekkah

Religion (19) on statue and Altar (IC3, post 102) :

The statue is the regular Pelor representation, the same one that you've seen in many temple, yet, there is a slight difference. Usually, the Sun god is represented as a commoner, wearing simple clothes. This one, appear to be wearing some chain armor. He even cary an heavy mace, which is his cult favored weapon, at his belt, which regular statues doesnt have. Otjher than that, the sun god expression is benevolent as usual, as is his posture with open arms.

Insight (26) on temple mood (IC3, post 102) :

With the difference you've noticed on the Pelor statue, you look around you and many distrub you in the temple. Pelor temples are usually peacful place, as the god is known to provide guidance and healing to the population. This place is different, with his many scenes of heroes battling enemies, repeling evil creatures. You've seen only one temple with similar general design before, thought the craftmanship was not as good as the one here : A temple of Bahamut ran by a group of Avenger and Invokers. your best guess would be that this place was surely ran by the same kind of Pelorian followers, those dedicated to works against evil, rather than priest who promoted peace and healing.

Diplomacy (20 - with Ace help) ((IC3, post 102)

Your prayer to the Sun lord doesnt receive any obvious answer .

Nice call here on Insight

As you tell your prayer, you get an approving feeling coming from the intelligent weapon.
As you say you'd like to would had had a drink with the member of this church, Greenbane say,
"Pelor is a good ally to have, one that strive to help the humans in need. I've had a drink with Gilroy Benthar known as the orc slayer," by a drink you easyly guess he meant enemies blood, "He was a good and couragoeus fighter."
You get a few rush of nostalgic feeling coming from the weapon.
You also realise that Greenbane was silent since you entered the temple hallway, returning some peculiar feeling. You did not pay too much attention to it, as you are now used to the weapon mood swings, but thinking about it, you suddenyl remember seeing a scene behind one of the statue were the man it represent is in full battle with hordes or orcs. As you remember that, the weapon only say,

Religion (23) check on Angel creature (IC3, post 113) :

This is an Angel of valor.
(15) : Angel of valor are soldiers of the gods, serving in vast armies and following commands of mortal priests or more powerful angels. When a cleric needs numbers to get the job done, angels of valor offer the best help.

(20) : When a devout worshiper of a particular god does something to delight that god, such as showing valor in the god's name, an angel of valor might be dispatched to reward the worshiper. An appropriate reward might include a magic item or even the service of the angel of valor for 10 days.

Passive insight on Agel of valor (IC 3 Post 114) :

You realise that the Angel cannot be convinced to go against his orders in any way. It is evident that he understand your position and would like to support you, but to him orders are orders. He seem to carefully choose his words, probably because there is thing he should not tell you and in the end you understand that he is giving you a clue on how to gain access : You need a Pelor priest, maybe even a simple true beleiver might work.

A surprise round will happen once Shadow and monique position themselves.

A burst of darkness will errupt over you and you'll find yourself teleported to G2 (on the sliding slope) because the attack miss you (15 VS Will).
In front of you, there will be a wall of dark energy you cannot see throught, going from the stone wall up to the chasm wall between row 2 and 3). The wall is 20 feet tall (so not up to the roof).

Do you want to do a saving throw (roll it here if you do) not to slide down into the dark energy wall or do you forfeit it to slide into the blackness?

After the attack :

Bolerum strong spirit manage to resist the attack and he find himself teleported outside the area of the attack, beside Ace near the cnatural cliff. Behind him, a wall of black energy going roughly 30 feet high at the lower part of the round room block his line of sight.

Bolerum and Ace torch light repel more of the natural darkness of the tunnel ahead and the paladin spot two creature. In front, he sees a plain black translucid humanoid shade, with no features or details. Behind the shadow creature, you spot a creature with the same proportions, but this one is a real physical creature. It appear to be human woman, but her skin is crakled and a shade of grey and two flammes fills her eye sockets. Most of her gear look old and haaf rusted or rotten except 4 items : a cloak is of fine silk lined with some silver thread, a belt made out of two twisted leather straps, an protective steel cap in perfect shape and some dark red shirt and matching pants. The longsword she weild in her hand is rusted throught, so much that you wonder why she would carry it. But after a few seconds, you see some dark streaks of energy flow along the blade and you know it wont crumble when she use it.

As the light reveal him, the shade rush forward and slash at Ace with his shadowy blade and is joined by a second creature coming for the other creature. Both weapon hit and you notice a flicker of dark energy emanate from the shades, followed by the same flicker onto the female behind.

You have the right to talk Ic if you want, if you want to warn the others.

Religion (22) on TG (IC 3, post 154) :

A simple look at the creature let you know that it isnt alive. Still, while you know it is some sort of undead, you cannot really put a commonly known name to it, like zombies or wampires. You are pretty sure it was an human woman when alive, but you can see some small deformation on her body, traces of some demonic or devilish heritage. It is hard to say if these happened before or after her death, but you get the impression that the source of her undeath is linked to power not divine but either demonic or devilish.
As your striked prooved, she is weak againsts radiant power, and more than likely resistant to necrotic. Looking at the way she fights, and the kind of powers she weild, she surely was some sort of warlock or maybe swordmage.

Knowing all this, you realise that the creature soul, if it is really still there, probably is corrupted, maybe it was even before her death, and she surely is quite unstable, if not utterly mad. While it speaks coherently, dealing with it probably wont yeild anything, as she is focused to her goal, nearlu obsessed by it.

Using existing powers on the sheet, I propose:
Gilroy temporarily possesses Bol when he regains consciousness. He'd be furious with the undead in his city, and would find the paladin of Kord a willing channel for his rage.

Greenbane during the battle :

While the sword have almost no emotion when fighting other creatures than his green skinned favored enemies, you did feel it moved when you mentionned Gilroy as the sword got motivated by it.

Now that you rest, the sword also relax and you actually see some flashbacks from his past as he remember them. Battles that it fought with Gilroy and you notice among the heroes fighting by Gilroy side a woman. What really draw your attention is her weapon and the scabbard at her waist, which is the one same one you've found in the treasure. The ring that the undead creature wore is also on her left hand.

History (23) on the heraldry symbol from Woman/ring/scabbard :

Looking at the heraldry symbol, you recognise it as the Dumont family crest from Torres. While it isnt exactly identical to the one you've seen yourself, you are sure it is the old version of it, which is quite fitting as you know that this family have been around for a long time.
As you ponder about this and make the link with the Dumont family, Greenbane say,
"Mathilde Dumont, yes that her name. She was Gilroy lover. She was a courageous woman who fought along our side for some time. At some point, when she became with child, she decided to stop warfare and enrolled herself a guard duty for some mage academy."
Looking a the undead creature deformed face, you wonder if this can be the same person. While it is hard to really be certain, the face have some similar features.

From Ic3, post 220 :
As you start to fly down into the room, you feel a rush of speed and the world spin around, as gravity change direction as if the tower suddenly come back up in its rightful position. Had it not been flying, he probably would had crashed down on flat on his belly, but the remaining flying power of Ace give him enough time up to orient himself agian before landing on the floor.

The first thing he really notice is an huge different in temperature as it is many degrees lower than the second before. Also, the air is humid, which add to the coldness of the area and an putrid smell assault your nose. Looking around, he note that he still is in a tower, which look quite the same as before, but this isnt where he expected to be. Along most of the wall, a long serie of bookshelves vocer most of the circular wall. The is to notable cracks on the wall, one on the west wall, where the bookshelf is completly rotten and broken, and one at the back of the only other stairway going up to an other level. Dozens of books are scattered on the ground, most of them completly rotten. At first glance, you doubt you will find anything of interest among those books, as they seem to already have been looted.

Around you, on the floor, you see two magical circles carved into the ground that look identical to the ones from the room you came from. Behinf you, roughly in the middle of the room, an access leading down to a spiraling stairway . Looking down, you see that the room look similar to the one you and your allies were , but they are nowhere to be seen and you dont hear them at all. Also, the room bellow room seem to be standing upright and the few cracks you see in your room seem extend to the walls bellow.
Ok, you can roll an arcana check to see if you know what happened to you exactly.

So now the gravity as if the tower is standing up.

Also roll a saving throw against the strong purtid smell.

What do you do?

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/9021/stower.jpg
The brown circle represent the bookselves.
The yellow and Grey circle are two circle identical from those on the wall from the previous map.

Unlike Bolerum expected when he take time to inspect the stairway going down, it look quite similar, but it actually isnt. It is made out of the same type of stone, but time seem to had had more effect on that one. Actually, the whole room below, and the one you are in as well for that matter, seem to have suffered more that the one in the fallen tower. You explain this mostly because by the cracks in the wall which surely let some water and humidity enter the place.

Looking around you realise that most of the smell come from the rotten books, but also from one of the bookshelf, where some creature seem to have used as a latrine and dumped the remains of his preys.

And you were right, it should have been an endurance... with your roll, you are ok and dont suffer from the smell.

Note that this can be quite simple (I actually have a few things prepared for your character, but I want to make sure it all fits lol). In seconds, you feel the chain go along your right arm like a snake and reflexively grab your arm with your other hand to try and immobilise it. I assumed that it sliped in your sleeve under your armor.

I guess you'll remove the sleeve and will post Ic accordingly.

Religion (10) on your arm :

As you look at the holy symbol and chain that is not inserted in your how flesh, you note that the symbol is definitively of Kord : A stone hand holding a translucid gem in the form of a lightning bolt. The chain seem to be made of some strange material that have a bronze shade. Once you dare touch the chain, it feels cold to the touch. When you touch the part in the effigy of Kord, you feel a presence, your god presence and you instinctively knows this is something coming from Kord, something that only a faithful could use. This explains why it reacted to your touch. You do feel the divine presence bosltering you.

You can make a nature check too.

You can add this a magic item (It is a boon ) to your sheet.
Kord's Mighty Strength (Level 3)

I dont have the exact description (can have it if you dont have access to it), but it gives you +2 atheltic, +5 to STR check to break stuff and an daliy power to boost your damage by 1 for an encounter (I think).

"But I am not surprised, I did chose you to weild me in this goblin war. I usually have good taste for that. Speaking of goblin war, when will we kill those green skinned weakling again? I hunger for some more gobos blood."

When you encoutner the goblins, as usual, the blood-thirsty weapon is elated by the battle. When Monique capture one, it complain until it realise it is for interrogation, and you know it assume you will kill it after.

When the scared goblin relate your reputation among the horde, you feel some pride emanating from the weapon.
"See, they know who we are. They fear us, and rightly so as we will slay all those green-skinned buggers! NOw let's kill it and seek some more. They may not sound their horns, but toggether we can track them!"

Note that during the last night. Do you kill the goblin you kept alive ??

Unless the others decide to spare it for some reason, yes. While there's no honor in doing so, there's a war on, and a freed goblin may end up killing men. For that matter, there are plenty more to fight.

Nature on Rikard :

While he look like an human on first glance, you realise that he isnt, or at least not completly. Rikard is a mul.

Muls are half-dwarves, descended from the union of a human and a dwarf. They possess the stature, agility, and mental flexibility of humankind, coupled with the physical resilience and endurance of dwarves—a rare combination of qualities that makes muls more than a simple blend of the two races.
Because they are strong, tough, quick, and blessed with fantastic reserves of endurance, muls are highly prized as slaves. In fact, most muls are born into slavery.

It was not so bad after all lol... I did not tell you they had an aura or that they would split up once bloodied, but I hinted they would do something while in melee.
I will be a little cleared from now on though as I mentionned in OOC (I'll go read the compendium to see the Dc and details about monster knowledge)

Dekkah

Yeah, I poorly buitd the monster now that i think about it.
In that situation, I shoud simply have given the monster a triggering ability:

Trigger : An enemy end his turn adjacent to GAG 1.
Free action : Push and damage

And as I already acknoledge, there should be some attack roll to instead of being automatic hit.

This would have been more akin to what I really wanted the monster ability to be (being able to give himself some room)

Since you lost conciousness, you are unarmed (per my house rule). The link between you and the sword is still strong (you are surprised you can hear it that well...it was not that clear the first time it contacted you without you wielding - when you found it on the orc).
Note that until you pick it up, you dont have any of the benefits from Greenbane.

Knowledge check on Zombie (22) :
These are hungry zombies that usually goes for the nearest living creature to grab and try to eat them. Usually they are easyly destroyed, but the magic that rose them seem to have been enhanced and let them sometimes rise again once they are dead. Still each rising weaken the animating magic and make the zombies less and lessaeffective.

Radiant damage cleanse the magic for sure, but you know you could destroy the magic on one of them when adjacent with an easy arcana check (standard action = DC 11) or with more difficulty with less concentration (minor = DC 23.... max one minor attemp per turn) , breaking the animating magic to destroy it and making sure it wont rise again.

With the end of the battle and defeat of Gramliz, I expect Greenbane will want to move on. In fact, I'd suggest this happens so that Bolerum can work with Tika without recrimination. I expect our enemy types will be very different from the goblins and orcs we've been fighting so far, anyhow.

I'd ask that a replacement weapon be included in the found loot. Bol has a +1 Greatsword he can use, but it's a fairly low power item by comparison.

Dekkah
2013-10-10, 11:36 AM
You guessed right... it will happen really soon now... in the roleplay that will follow.

There is will some loot from this battle awarded to you, but it isnt a weapon for you, but an armor (Gramliz armor actually).

It is a Layered plate armor (masterwork armor giving a base 9 AC instead of 8 ) with an enchant level 8 or less of your choice (I was actually considering versatile, Meliorating or ebon ones ... but I'd rather let you choose).

Well when Greenbane leave, you will be given some options that may correct your weapon enhancement problem...:smalltongue:

Greenbane (Ic 3 - Post 908) :
Greenbane is in extasy as you kill the strong bugbear. While you felt his frustration as you fell unconcious to it, this is completly gone now within the bloodlust of the weapon.
"Let's go help kill the rest!"
Cheerfully said the weapon, as you ran toward the other goblins.

Once the goblins are dead and the battle is won, the weapon calm down a little. When you hear the comotion, and head there, Greenbane tell you,
"Yeah, we cannot trust them! That man must be right: they surely only turned their coat when they saw us adn knew we would won out the day! Lets kill them! Oh and dont forget that one!"

August 25th, 1500, Greenbane - After a good night rest :
As Bolerum wake up and start preparing from the day, he receive an telepathic mesasge from Greenbane.
"It seem like that the goblin menace here have been defeated, even if some still live."
The weapon refer to Tikka and Ung mostly.
"My duty here is done. It is time for me to move on and go where I am most needed. You were a good weilder, among the best I had a chance to fight with. I'll remember you and our victories, but we must part ways."
While there is an hint of sadness in the weapon words, there is still some determination there, a need to move on to be able to fight his designated enemies. You actually know now that the weapon sole purpose is to fight and defeat goblins and their kind and allies.
"I'd like to stay with you, but I dont thnk you will be facing much goblins now that these armies have been defeated."
You feel a weave of nostalgia as the weapon recall some battle you had. The weapon is silent for a few moments, which give you a time to reply to it.

We are out of turn, but I am doing this now, so it is done later when we move on.

Bolerum

"You have done me great honor, Holy Sword. I wish the blessings of Kord upon you and your future wielders. May you see many days of glorious battle!"

Bolerum, while saddened at the departure of his companion, is clearly not surprised at this turn of events. Such things have been uncommon throughout history, and always departed when their purpose was served.

Dekkah

Greenbane
Bolerum does feel that the weapon is moved by the paladin's words.
"The honnor was mine, Bolerum, Paladin of Kord, Slayer of the Black Marsh green-skin armies! May you keep winning battle until it is time for you to return to your God, with all the glory you deserve."
The weapon pause, and Bolerum do feel the weapon respect.
"As parting gift, know that you will still understand our cursed enemies language, so you can better slay them. Also, you've used that combat technique I provided that I am sure you'll find opportunities still fitting to use it. And last, I can empower one of your equipement to better it a little. what would you prefer : you armor, cloak of your weapon?"

In game terms :
You can add Goblin and Giant in your languages (bonus)
You keep Pressing strike, but as an encounter power only.
And you can upgrade either (only one) :
1- your cloak (from +1 to +2),
2 - your armor(the meliorating one, since at that point you'll have it) from +2 to +3,
3- your otherweapon from +1 to +2 (or if you plan on using one of the unused enchant in group bank, Greenbane could empower one of those (from +2 to +3) as long as you plan to use them (I kinda realise you have no reason before loosing Greenbane to actually take one of those).

"Keep slaying the goblins you meet!"
As Greenbane is completly disolved, the scythes start to reshape itself into a Greatsword in front of Bolerum's eyes. The blade is quite beautyful and bear two religious marks, Kord and Moradin, one on each side of the blade.

Active perception (19) on the cavern : (IC 3 , post 1048)

You note that the water seem to be slowly rising. For now, it is minor, but looking at the cracked celling in -D-2 area and with the earthquake still going strong, the celling there might cave in and the water leak there have huge chances to get bigger. The celling above where you are right now seem stable enough so you only have to worry about loose stones falling and you dont think it will get much worst. The small water that is flowing from the celling near you is minimal for now, but seem a little bigger near the wall on the other side (-E19). You also note that while the river water was drinkable water, the wsater that is coming from the celling is salty. The area beyong row 31 doesnt have any leak of water, but there is still stone that breaks away from the celling there like everywhere else.
Active insight (19) on the creatures : (IC 3 , post 1048)

Perception (21) (IC3, Post 1055) :
The celling near you seem still stable enough even though a crack (Row 20) appeared from one side ot an other. There is more chances that it will open rather than an huge part of the celling falling down. There is still stone loosening here and there though, but nothing massive like to the west.

You also notice dust and small rocks being ejected from the tunnel (B-2) you came from to the west and you are almost certain that the tunnel probably caved-in. You cannot be sure it is impassable, but from the look of it, it might well have been completly filled with crumbled stone.

To the east, you note a crack on the celling, but that one is mostly in the north-west corner (-B37/-A45) and doesnt expand over your path. While the creack near is letting some water in, the crack to the north-west doesnt.
The water is still pourring quickly to the west and the water is rising fast.

Nice roll. and good timing/idea to use active perception :smalltongue:

Only Kordites were selected for it and the high priest was explicit as only Kordites should be entrusted with it. When Kord placed you on our path, I thought it was a sign, but I guess I was wrong."
The goliath crack a weak smile and add,
" It's funny, we both have what the other group miss. In normal times, I'd offer you to join forces and to work on both our quests toggether, heck, I'd probably even join you myself to help you and let the rest of the group go on their way until you find someone to heal you if need be, but I cannot do right now. This quest have been assigned to me and I must see it throught the end. The goliath smile and say,
"Oh, Ive been there before, I just dont really know anyone. I'll have to convince everyone that we should head there, but it should be doable. I have faith that Kord put you across our path for some reason, even if it only to share drinks and stories of battle greatness! That and maybe so we can armwrestle and see who's the strongest!"

Garek have a strong grip and as the contest starts, you know it wont be an easy match. You guys are locked in a deadgrip for 30 seconds, and a smile appear on Garek red face even though you start to slowly bring him down. The golaith suddendly give everthing he have and manage to return your hand up to the starting position, but then you also start to give everything you've got and Garek is slowly going down. When you are about 3 inches from winning, you note some glowing light under his sleeve. At the same moment, you also feel some warmth in your arm and as you look, you see that it is Kord boon that is emiting the light. Looking back at Garek, the goliath seem as surprised as you, and while you try to release you grip, you lost control of you arm. You have enough insight to understand that Garek is having the same bosy control lost.
As your match continues without your own control and you bring down Garek arm against the stone, you see that your glowing Kord boon stark to move, circling around your arm painlessly inton your flesh like a snake toward your hand. An identical boon crawl down from Garek arm and once both reach you hand and once they touch each others, everything around you blur out and you feel a incredible surge of power overhelm you.
This power is frightening at first, but then you hear a voice say,
"Fear not childs. You've both impressed me in your devotions and glorious battles. I'll be watching your next glorious battles!"
Within your hearth, you know this voice to be Kord's.

When you are woken by your friends, you feel refreshed and in top shape, as if you've sleep 15 hours straight. As you stand up, you realise that you are unconfortable within your fulplate armor. It is then that it strikes you : your paladin training feels like some distant memory, a vague souvenir. Instead, you now have the knowledge of a priest of Kord, trained into the harsh mountains of Iron (Les Mont De Fer) near Torres. While your what you knows about the world and the way you can use magic adn fight changed, you still feels yourself, remembering everything you've done until now.
Lets first see how lady luck is with Garek first...

Religion (27) on temple :
The temple is dedicated to Asmodeus.
Asmodeus is devoted to oppression and might through subversive action. He imposes strict rules and harsh punishments on his followers. The cult of Asmodeus urges its adherents to seek power over others, to repay evil with further evil (an eye for an eye), to exploit kindness for personal gain, and to show no compassion for the weak and downtrodden. All done in the most legal possible manner of course, and never overtly.

Streetwise (17) for information on arena (IC 4 - Post 94) :
Bolerum start to chat with a few people and find a man willing to share informastion about the arena fighters.

Grull actually is a wartroll and is considered the champion of the arena. He never have been bested, even in multiple opponents fights. From what you heard he've won over 40 fights so far.

The beast actually is some magical beast, an owlbear. The creature is quite wicked and vicious. They use it mostly to satisfy the crowd bloodlust, sending only criminals or slaves against it. These are pretty much doomed to die in a horrible way.

The upcoming match between the two noble champions is some good match between two solid fighters, Gary Thundershield and Seldar Thebold. Gary is favored as he have more experience, but Seldar is actually quite strong and might pull it out.

The manager that is looking for an opponent for his champion is actually there to make an other gory show. Mpost fight, except the one with the beast, usually arent to the death. Still there is a ctrowd for the extreme violence and from what you understand, that promoter is hired to provide that. Your source tell you not to underestimate his fighter, Halden Bloodhound, even though he doesnt look that good. While he doesnt look so tough, and that most of his to the death match were close call, he still won the 17 last matches.

Other that these, there is three other fighters to look for, who arent on show tonight. THere is a drow called "QuickBlabe" who is ranked second and only lost 4 match, three of which were aghainsts Grull. Next is some dwarf name Barthen Oakenshield, who won all of his match so far, but never faced GRull or Quickblade. The last one is a woman named Bella Nova. While she've lost many fights, she have way more wins. Also she is quite popular because of her looks, but also because she always put on a good show and have a very acrobatic style.

Passive insight IC 3 - Post 104 :
Looking at the promoter, you realise that his smile actually hide the fact that he is quite proud of himself. You get the feeling that he is pleased that his words might have put you in a spot where it is hard to decline the challenge, at least from what most people expect from Kordites. He did play on Kords common eddicts.

You also note that his champion face look worried that he might have to face you, but you have enough insight to tell it is an act. While you dont think the man is overly confident and certain he will win, he isnt really afraid of you.

Insight (27) on Clerc (IC 4 - Post 167)
While the man do try to look at ease, you actually can sense that he is hidding a lot of stress. As you listen to his speach, you realise that something he says bothers you. After a few seconds, you realise what it is : ther way that he is mentionning the Erathis temple. He keep saying The Erathis temple in a very unpersonnal way and quite distant tone. You dont feel the man actually have a bound to the temple as he would surely mention it as his temple or something along those line. He did show more emotion when mentionning Maurice than he did the Erathis temple.

Insight on the dwarf's motives: (d20+9)[28] (IC 4 Post 238)
As you focus on discerning more about Hukthok motives, looking for clues into his attitude and replying what he said before, you are sure he want to crown for himself. While the location of Roctook is important to him, the crown is what really matters. You actually get the vibe that if he would have been with you when you found the place, he only would have asked for the crown and let you take everyo ther treasure in the vault.

You actually remember him saying "Gran" as he spoke of the Gemviper queen (Post 234), wehich you beleive to be a diminutive of Grand-Mother, which means he is surely a direct descendant.

Since a queen crown usually mean political power and you are quite sure he wants it to gain some birthright or something along that line.

You get that he is pretty cautious and slithly desperate right now, and from what he told so far, it is surely the best advancement in his search he had in quite some time.

DM - Additionnal information during Halden turn (IC 4 , Post 272) :
As Halden Grapple your shoulder, everything seem to slow down for a second as you see some black energy flow from Halden open wound. The energy goes to the opponent hands holding you and a huge hand black translucid hand appear over Halden's. An arm, then an whole body of the same eery black light grow from the hand. Before you stand an huge 15 feet tall shadowy humanoid form towering over Halden. Halden appears as surprised as you are, but also amazed.
The form appear to bear many scars and wear an hood over the face and you can feel some power iradiate from him as he rise his fist to throw a punch.

You know all this happened instantly and as time resume its pace the giant balled fist come to your face and hit you. It is quite painfull, forcing your head back, but not like you'd expected a solid punch, but as if life have been such out of you. This makes Halden surprise turn into a wide grin.

Ok, you can do a religion check (free).

Additional information (IC 4, post 276)
After Halden send you reeling toward the bladed contraption, you see huge black moster becoming more opaque. A black chain appear in his hand and the monster move toward you and swing the chain at your feet. The end of the chain coils around your leg and the monster pull back, knocking you off your feets painfully as you sense even more lifeforce being suched out of you. With a flick of the wrist, the chain release your legs.

The crowd doesnt seem to have notice the huge black from in the arena and they are cheering for you and Halden, apparently unaware of the 3rd party involved.

I added the and orange circle to show you where is the Torog thing on the map. You lost one surge again and have been knocked prone.

oh well... I really doubt you will survive now.
You at least need to save vs poison (or your dead on your turn) or roll 20 on death save to wake up at 1 HP.
There is also the baldes that probably will finish you up....

What would be incredible would be a 20 on death save and save poison... that would give you a chance to actually live and do something... not much chances.. but who knows .

Even though you've lost, that was a close fight... you almost had him... actually a crit on last attack might have droped him... that is how close you were.
Well done.

Honestly, would you had more surges, I think you would had won... as you wasted one healing power and still had second wind... the missing surge costed you the fight... but one thing for sure, it was very Bolerumesque! You were quite in character all those fights!

And I just reposted this theread first post and I've seen your character goals :
