Haddon draws his elegant pistol, as he has many times before in training, but never in anger. Things are moving faster than he perhaps imagined they would be, but he keeps his cool, firing a shot through the crowd at the man spraying wildly with his automatic. The high-powered beam hits him just below the hip. You see the fabric of his clothes and the flesh underneath it blacken and burn where it struck, and he screams in pain, struggling to stay upright.

The bodyguard with the goatee sprints after Lans and Trask, a gun already in his hand. He grabs the door, slamming it shut behind him.

Up on the surface, Gethsemane powers up his thunderhammer, swings it under-arm, and brings it crashing down onto the wall beside him. People inside the bar cry in alarm and leap away as the wall explodes inward, showering them with debris. By his calculations, another strike about half a dozen metres in front of him will take him down to the edge of the dancefloor beneath, though it’ll be a hell of a drop.

Downstairs, the crowd realizes some of what’s happening, and panic seizes them all. There’s a rush to get away, people pushing and shoving, getting entangled with each other in the press of bodies. One or two people stumble and fall. The stampeding crowd means that they’re unlikely to get back up any time soon.

We’re in to round 2. Crowd is panicking and attempting to flee. For next 3 rounds of the combat (before the crowd clears) all combatants will have their Agility Bonus (and thus their movements) reduced by half by jostling bodies. It also means that all combatants will randomly gain cover (see page 246) against ranged attacks as bystanders soak up fire and catch bullets. Every time you shoot, please roll a d10; on a 1–5 your target is hit as normal, while on a 6–10 they gain 8 APs of cover.

Initiative Order (Sythius is up. Four pirates still standing, one brandishing a gun, Trask and his two bodyguards have fled into a side corridor and closed the door behind them):

>Sythius: 14
Pirate group A: 12
Pirate group B: 11

Trask: 10
Zerah: 9
Lucius: 7

Gethsemane grunts after smashing through the wall, but doesn't even slow his stride, continuing forward, before smashing into the next wall. This time, however, as concrete rains down on those before, he yells above the anarchy, hoping to prevent civilian casualties.

"Adeptus Arbites! Everyone, on the floor, now!"

Hopefully the sight of a hammer-wielding Judge putting a hole into the wall would make them hit the deck immediately. After that, he'd consider jumping down, and hopefully some of the revellers would provide him something soft to land on.

Haddon grimaces and curses inwardly as bits of the ceiling collapse downwards on him and the rest of the revellors. Glancing back at the fleeing pirates he holds down the trigger on the hellpistol as it streams a beam of red fire at any of the enemy - though preferably the one that he'd already hit. The adrenaline coursed through his body and he could see why his bodyguards enjoyed this!

Sythius curses as his shot misses the bodyguard. A quick glance tells him that two of the enemies seem to have been effectively removed from the fight for now by the gas. One, however, has not, and Sythius aims his pistol at him.

Sythius fires a las shot at the pirate even as he recovers from his poorly-timed lunge at Lans, and is still deciding what to do next. The beam slices neatly through his arm, burning a nasty, ragged hole and exposing charred and fragmented bone. He screams in total agony, the pain so intense that he doubles over and vomits a couple of cheap drinks onto the floor. He sinks to his knees, clutching his arm.

The pirate with the autopistol turns and returns fire at Haddon as he steps through the crowd, snapping off several shots in his direction, at the precise moment that a filthy looking man is overalls is attempting to shove his way past Haddon to safety. He takes the first round for the Navis, collapsing without even a scream and creating yet another obstacle for the terrified people to trip over. The second shot is on target to hit him just below his left shoulder.

The two pirates who were pushing their way through the crowd approach the booth. One of them yells “Get the captain!” and charges up the stairs of the booth, attempting to get Fiona into a headlock.

“You think you can grift us, you bitch?!” he snarls. Apparently she can, because he’s unable to get ahold of her.

The other man is apparently perfectly happy to follow this order and runs after his captain, grabbing him and pulling him to the side. They have a short conversation that you can’t hear over the loud music, screams and gunfire. The injured man produces a las-pistol, though he currently seems unable to aim it, and the pirate leans down towards his cowering friend, yanking him over and grabbing an stub automatic that was concealed in the lining of the terrified man’s coat.

Initiative Order (Fiona is up):
Sythius: 14
Pirate group A (Three outside the booth): 12
Pirate group B (Three people from upstairs): 11

Trask: 10
Zerah: 9
Lucius: 7
Captain Adipose: 6
Lans: 6
Haddon: 5
Goatee bodyguard: 5
Gethsemane: 5

Bare in mind that rules for moving through crowds are in effect, except for Haddon and Fiona if they wish to hug the wall and move towards the door (or away from it).

(Haddon has taken 9 damage to his left arm before armor and toughness, though he may roll a dodge.)

Fiona hurried up the stairs backwards, dodging any reprise and unloading her pistol into her would-be attacker. "Zerah, teleportarium please -- I need to get out of here, leave this to the guys."

The man rushing Fiona attempts to kick her legs out from under her as she backs up, but she hops up the stairs deftly and shoots him twice in rapid succession. Neither shot is decisive, merely winging him, but the wind is knocked out of him, and with a stifled cry, he grabs on to the railing to prevent himself falling downstairs.

Zerah can see Trask dithering in the hall on her cameras. He turns to face his bodyguards abruptly, as they presumably shout a command at him to wait for them.

++Doing it! Get low and stay still!++ Zerah opens a data burst to the ship and relays the coding for Fiona's own beacon and co-ordinates, prompting the teleport as fast as is safely possible.

++Trask is sticking in the hall and panicking, you've got a good chance to grab him now.++

Lucius fires blindly through the door, but a fleeing patron is heading in that direction, and takes the shot through the chest. It punches a hole in the door; it's not clear whether he hit anyone behind it.

Zerah can see the two bodyguards run for the ladder, yelling at each other. Lans drags Trask over to the ladder, and they both climb up, Lans first. The man with the goatee goes prone, aiming his pistol at the door, seeming ready to fire on anyone that comes in.

Fiona is contacted by a tech-adept on board the The Nostalgia For Infinity, calmly instructing her to stay still and stay away from the crowd while they target the teleportarium. They will have her out soon. Easier said then done, dogged as she is by a vengeful pirate crewman.

Haddon opens fire on the man with the autopistol. Two shots strike the man one after the other; his pained scream is cut off as quickly as it begins, and he drops to the ground, quite obviously dead for daring to have fired on the scion of House Cassini.

The ceiling above you collapses inwards as Gethsemane smashes a hole in it. The arbite is frustrated to see that he mistimed his strike, thrusting the head of the hammer through the ceiling rather then sweeping it through; the hole is too small. He'll need to strike it again. He can see that people are clearing the area beneath him, which means that he won't cause collateral damage, but won't have any kind of soft landing.

Just as he's drawing the hammer back to strike again, he hears something that sounds like pipes rattling from the alleyway that he just left, and then what is possibly a valve turning; possibly someone beneath the strange hatch and valve he saw out in the alleyway, trying to get out...

Gethsemane informs the others via vox...

"Someone is attempting to get away via escape hatch..."

He then runs full tilt back the way he came, and waits at the top of it, hammer raised, ready to come down on whoever opens it should they refuse to surrender.

The blood pulses in Haddon's veins like nothing he's ever experienced before. The still steaming wounds trailing a faint pool of blood a mark of his own handiwork. He grinned at the rush. He now could understand the holo sapien desire for war and conflict.

Pushing that thought away he glanced around. The arbiter was almost through the ceiling and the two grunts were hosing down pirates. Haddon took a chance and raced forward across the room pulling open the door but not yet stepping round it.

full move and open the door. But keep total cover behind it.

The pirate accosting Fiona makes another weak attempt to tackle her, somewhat stymied by the ragged hole in his belly. Sythius takes a shot at him from behind; unfortunately, someone is shoved back at the same moment, and they take the shot in the center of their mass as they fall.

The pirate who retrieved his captain takes off, shouldering his way through the crowd and dragging the man along with him. He ducks and weaves, using the fleeing people as cover as he tries to clear a path back to the stairs leading up and to safety, leaving his two stricken colleagues behind.

Fiona stayed still while the teleportarium was charging up. She took another shot at the man trying to grab her.

[roll0] v. 74 <- Standard Shot + Aim
[roll1] v. 56 <- Deceive

"Why are you people so stupidly obsessed with trying to kill me? You're just going to die yourselves! That traitor is going to get away from screwing us both and you just keep trying like an idiot! Your captain isn't safe, the Vill Dynasty will find him. And when we do, we'll eat his heart for stopping justice!"

Fiona rattles off another couple of las-shots, both of which take him in the leg, one in the calf, the other just below his thigh. It blackens and catches fire, immolating completely in the space of a few seconds. He screams hoarsely, tumbling down the stairs as he leg becomes unable to support his weight, and then doesn't move.

It doesn't seem like he was really buying in to Fiona's lies. Whether that's because she didn't seem believable, or because he was distracted by the more immediate issue of his agonising death, you can't be sure.

Lucius races forward towards the door, just ahead of Haddon, opening it. He is immediately greeted by a wave of auto-pistol fire from the bodyguard waiting at the end of it. He curses, flattening himself against the wall beside the door.

Haddon, the door is open. You can move in front of it so you can see down it and take a shot or something as a half-action, or move right over to it and take cover beside it and not get shot as a full action? Let me me know if you want to leave your action as-is or not in light of Lucius opening the door ahead of you.
