First of all, I have my mouse set to left-handed. For the last week, a couple of times a day my mouse buttons randomly switch back to the standard righty settings. But, when I check the mouse settings in the control panel, it still says the buttons are switched. Unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in solves the problem, but it's annoying, especially when it happens in the middle of a game. Does anybody have any idea what's going on?
(On a similar topic, sometimes my arrow keys produce numbers, as if the keyboard isn't sure which arrow keys are on the number pad and which are the regular ones. This happened with my old keyboard too.)

(I run Windows 7 Home Premium. It's some kind of Microsoft mouse, but there's no markings on it to indicate what sort. Oh, the mouse options window says it's a "Comfort Mouse 4500".)

Sounds like driver trouble to me (not an expert).

What's your OS? The problem and solution could be reliant on that...

Oh yeah. Windows 7 Home Premium. I'll put that in the OP. I think it's a Microsoft mouse, not sure which.

I was totally expecting rodent problems when I opened this thread.

I don't have any proper solutions for you, but commiseration and seconding probably driver issues. My webcam is goofy like that, it stops working properly but is temporarily fixed by unplugging then plugging in. Even with the correct drivers installed. Not the same OS, but still Windows of the type that thinks it can divine the proper driver software on its own.

I half expected this too, but then before I clicked the thread thought maybe they meant computers.

Anyway, question: have you tried other mouses? Or mice? Is mice still the plural when it comes to a computer mouse?

The only other mouse I have is an uncomfortable wireless mouse that can't be set to left-handed.

This is why I own a tablet pen (that and I'm an art student).

I'm not a huge fan of tablets for general computer use. And I don't draw.

Yeah, most people aren't. Plus, if you're not going to use it to draw, you're wasting your cash (I think the cheapest they come is around $70).
