I'm a new OOTS reader, got linked to it a few weeks ago, and went right back to the start. finlly got back to current, and I am hopelessly hooked.

Is the strip based on old dnd characters of your own, or completely out of your head?

Just FYI, there's a separate subforum for comic-specific threads.

Anyway, as far as I know, the OOTS comic isn't based on a specific campaign. It started out as a simple gag comic poking fun at the typical stereotypes found in most D&D games. It wasn't until after the first story arc that the Giant began expanding the plot of the story into what we have today.

another thing that you might want to know is that The Giant (not Rich but The Giant) rarely responds to posts on the forum not related to the well being of the site/forum

I would also add that yes, Rich was used to make fun at the D&D's stereotypes.
