View Full Version : Call of the Kobold!

The Rules
You are going to control a Tribe of kobolds fleeing from Red Mountain after the fall of the Great Wyrm Ashmore. You're a leader of a type chosen from the list provided in charge of around two dozen other kobolds who depend on you for their very survival.

You'll start out in Red Mountain. If you go North you'll run into an army of very angry humans, so I suggest you go South instead.

The Map
All of the Kobolds in Ashmore's service have been there so long that none of you know what the world outside of Red Mountain is like. The map starts out dark. In order to discover more of it you'll have to explore. Your Tribe can see one square in every direction (including diagonally). Once a piece of map is uncovered it stays uncovered unless something happens to change it.

The Rounds
Every round is one day. Tribes act in the order in which they post.

On your turn you must first deal with any circumstances in the square in which you started. These will vary as the game progresses. After that you can Scavange and/or Move in whichever order you prefer.

Move
Your tribe may move up to 3 squares per round in any direction unless you move into a previously undiscovered square in which case you end your move to explore. A diagonal move counts as 1.5 squares.

Scavange
You may also scavenge for resources once per turn. You can choose to scavenge for either Wood, Food or Craft. No matter which you choose you will roll 1d6, add any bonuses, and gain that many units of the selected resource.

Unless otherwise noted each square has 4 rolls worth of resources (meaning 1 tribe can scavenge there 4 days, 2 can scavenge 2 days or 4 can scavenge 1 day). It takes four turns for one roll worth of resources to re-grow (which means 16 turns for a depleted square to become lush again)

Running
If in a great hurry, a Tribe can sacrifice their Scavenge roll for their turn to add +2 additional squares to their Move.

Resources
Food
You use one resource of food per turn. You must end every turn with at least one Resource of Food, otherwise your Kobolds starve to death.

Wood
You must also end every turn at a Fire, otherwise dangerous beasts come in the night and devour your Kobolds. Starting a Fire takes Wood in varying amounts;
A fire big enough for one tribe of Kobolds takes 2 wood.
A fire big enough for up to three tribes of Kobolds takes 3 wood.
A fire big enough for up to five tribes of kobolds takes 4 wood.
A fire larger than that would be unsafe and can't be done.
You may use a fire in your square or any adjacent square.
The fire starts in the square of the Tribe that made it. The owning Tribe may decide which other Tribes are allowed to use their fire. A fire only lasts one night.

Craft
As the game progresses Tribes may exchange Craft for Tools and Buildings. Tribes must make this exchange at the beginning of their turn. Any buildings a Tribe make appear on the square they are standing in. A list of Tools and Buildings, along with how much Craft it takes to make them, is given near the bottom of this post.

Each Tribe may carry with them a maximum 12 units of Wood, Food and Craft combined. There is no limit on Tools.

If one Tribe kills another (see Fighting below) they get all of the Wood, Food and Tools the slain Tribe had. Any unspent Craft disappears.

Interactions
Trading
Tribes in the same or adjacent (not diagonal) squares may trade Resources and Tools with one another. Trading takes no time and can be done at any point during a round. No single tool may be used by more than one Tribe per round.

Cooperating
When two (or more, with the help of a Diplomat) tribes are in the same or adjacent squares at the beginning of their turn they may choose to Cooperate on a Scavenge check. In order to do so, however, they must all Scavenge for the same Resource and give up their Movement for the turn.

All Cooperating Tribes will roll 1d6+the total of bonuses granted individually by all Tribes.

Example:The Raging Ravens, Cranky Crows and Sad Sparrows are cooperating to gather Craft. This is only possible because the Raging Ravens have a Diplomat as a leader, otherwise only two Tribes at a time could cooperate. The leader of the Cranky Crows is a Crafter and the leader of the Sad Sparrows is Dragon Blooded.

Because the Cranky Crows is a Crafter the roll gets a +1.

The leader of the Sad Sparrows cannot himself benefit from his ability, however he can buff both the Raging Ravens and the Cranky Crows, giving the roll a +2.

Finally, the Raging Ravens give a full +3 bonus to the roll since three tribes are cooperating.

The Cranky Crows roll (1d6+6) and get a total of 9. They get 9 Craft from their Scavenge attempt.

The Sad Sparrows roll (1dd+6) and get 7. They get 7 Craft from their Scavenge attempt.

Finally the Raging Ravens roll (1d6+6) and get 11. They get 11 Craft from their Scavenge attempt.
Tribes can also cooperate on Fight checks. The same rules apply; no more than two tribes can cooperate without the help of a Diplomat.

Fighting
Unlike Trading and Cooperating you must be in the same square as your opponent to Fight.

Fighting an NPC will require a Fight check of 1d6 + any leadership or tool bonuses against a set number.

Fighting another Tribe will be an opposed check in which both Tribes (or groups of Tribes, see Cooperation below) will make a Fight check and the higher number is victorious.

In either case, losing a fight results in death. In the case of a tie both sides lose their next Move action but suffer no other ill effects.

Leader Types
Alchemist: fires of all sizes take 1 less wood to start (minimum 1).
Barbarian: +2 to Fight checks and +1 to Movement but you may not make cooperative rolls.
Craftsman: +1 to Scavenge checks for Craft
Diplomat: +1 per cooperating Tribe to any Cooperative check. In addition your Tribe does not count against the maximum numbers of Tribes which may make a Cooperative roll.
Dragon Blooded: You may grant +1 to any rolls made by another Tribe in the same or an adjacent square, but you cannot buff your own rolls nor benefit from the bonus granted by another Dragon Blooded kobold.
Fighter: +1 to Fight checks.
Forager: +1 to Scavenge checks for Food
Priest: All non-Cooperative rolls are made with 1d7 instead of 1d6.
Rogue: Once per turn you may attempt to steal Resources from other tribes in the same or adjacent squares. Choose Wood, Food or Craft then roll 1d6. You steal half that many of that resource rounded down. You can not steal more of that resource than the other Tribe possesses.
Scout: You may move 1 extra square per round. Running adds +3 to your move instead of +2.
Woodsman: +1 to Scavenge checks for Wood

Tools (note: No single tribe may benefit from more than one of the same item.)
6 Craft
Axe: +1 to Scavenge checks for Wood.
Bow and Arrow: +1 to Scavenge checks for Food.
Tool Kit: +1 to Scavenge checks for Craft.

8 Craft
Fishing Pole: +2 to Scavenge checks for Food if near a body of Water. Allows Scavenge checks for Food while on a Raft or Boat.
Spear: +1 to Fight checks.
Tents: +1 to any check made against inhospitable weather.
Wagon: Maximum carrying capacity is increased to 24 resources.

12 Craft
Raft: Allows the crossing of Lakes and Rivers by one Tribe at a time. A Tribe does not need a Fire if on a Raft. Scavenge checks may not be made while on a Raft.
Hewing Hatchet: +2 to Scavenge checks for Wood
Traps: +2 to Scavenge checks for Food.
Work Bench: +2 to Scavenge checks for Craft.

14 Craft
Fishing Net: +3 to Scavenge checks for Food if near a body of Water. Allows Scavenge checks for Food while on a Raft or Boat.
Sword: +2 to Fight checks.
Caravan: Maximum carrying capacity is increased to 36 resources.

16 Craft
Boat: Allows the crossing of Lakes and Rivers by up to three Tribes at a time. A Tribe does not need a Fire if on a Boat. Scavenge checks may not be made while on a Boat.

18 Craft
Crossbow: You may make a Fight check against an opponent in an adjacent square. Treat a defeat like a tie unless your opponent also has a crossbow.

Call of the Kobold
Act 1: Escape from Red Mountain!
The Great Wyrm Ashmore lays slain, brought down by a single enchanted arrow from the True King of the Humans. The armies there gathered raise up a cheer of triumph and clasp each other on the back, all differences among them forgotten in the celebration that ensues.

The Kobolds, on the other hand, think that maybe it's time to leave...

Act 1, Scene 1: Running from the Rabble
The first turn you start out on any of the four squares occupied by the Red Mountain (J3, J4, K3 or K4). You have 0 Food, 0 Wood, 0 Craft and no Tools.

Because of the magnificent height of the Mountain you can see further from the top than you normally can (3 squares in all directions, instead of 1).

As you flee Red Mountain you grab something that looks useful from the Dragon's horde. Roll 1d6 (1d7 if you have a Priest leader) and gain the item or resource listed.

Roll|Result
1| 2 Wood
2| 2 Food
3| Tool Kit
4| Bow and Arrow
5| Axe
6| Spear
7| Blessed Armor*
*If you fail a Fight check you may discard Blessed Armor instead of dieing.
It has no effect against death from ending a turn without Food or a Fire.

The area immediately around the Mountain is scorched from decades of Ashmore's comings and goings. All Scavenge checks made near its base suffer a -1 penalty.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you first that you can move and scavenge in any order, second that Tribes may trade resources with one another and third that the Fire you rest next to at night need not be yours.

The first night is the hardest. Good luck.

--------------------------------------------------------

"Whatever you can grab in one turn of the egg timer, and that's it!" Flaming-Toes's squeaky voice echoed throughout the cavern-lab, carrying over the backs of his tribemates as they scurried around in a frenzy, stuffing their few possessions into their shirts and trousers. Most of the alchemical equipment would have to be left behind; they would smash it so that the humans couldn't have it, at least. With a pained sigh, Flaming-Toes turned away from the spectacle and back to his own work station. He knew he was seeing it for the last time.

Bubbling beakers, shiny stones, and spools of copper wire cluttered the stone shelf, an incomprehensible mess to anyone but Flaming-Toes himself. He fondly caressed each component, committing the picture to memory. Then he kicked out the shelf's supports, scattering acid and fire across the beloved materials. He turned away, unwilling to watch as it all melted into a sodden, lumpy mess. He had already taken everything he could carry: his special fire-starter, which got a good blaze going with much less fuel needed, was already almost more than he could carry.

He warily eyed the other item he would take. As tall as he was, with a razor-sharp obsidian point and a strong oaken haft, the spear was as foreign to him as his beakers would have been to... well, most anyone, really. He hoped he wouldn't have to use it, for he was no warrior, but in his heart he knew better. The good days, the days of ease and innovation, were over, ended by the humans with a single magic arrow. Now it was up to him to keep his tribe alive as long as he could. Fortunately, he had a plan.

"Time to go," he squeaked, and a groan of dismay rose from the tribe. He understood all too well, but this was no time to show weakness. "Get a move on, before those nasty humans impale the lot of you!" That got them moving, a slow and mournful stream toward the cavern's exit. Taking one last look over his shoulder at the ruins of the home he'd inhabited all his life, Flaming-Toes followed his people down the slope.

--------------------------------------------------------

After hours and hours of walking, they spotted it: the telltale trail of other Kobolds. It was a risk to follow; after all, there was no guarantee that these others would do anything other than kill them and take what they had. Flaming-Toes gripped the spear tighter. But he knew that his tribe, inexperienced in the ways of the outside world and badly undersupplied, would need help to even last the night. His belly already ached, and the growing shadows of night struck fear into his heart. He decided to follow.

Soon after, they came upon the camp of the Angry Ones. Knowing well their violent reputation, Flaming-Toes quaked with fear for a moment. But he shook it off; he had to look strong, the very image of a great Kobold leader. He strode into the camp to great his fellow chieftain. "Oh mighty Mr. Stabby," he said, keeping the quaver from his voice, "It is I, Flaming-Toes, of the Brightclaws. May we share your camp?"

"If you will give us food, we will make a great fire that will waste less wood than yours would. Then we can all live to see another day."

--------------------------------------------------------

So, the Brightclaws have an offer for the Angry Ones: if you trade us 1 food, so we can survive, we'll make a fire big enough for both of us with just our wood. That way you don't waste any wood. If you want to continue the partnership, you can give us your wood next turn, we'll make a more efficient fire for us both, and we can take turns scavenging for food and wood as needed. That will allow us both to make crafts more easily, since we're taking care of each other's daily needs. What do you say?

Shaman Whitescale calms his followers as they gather, "Fear not! We go now, for Whitescale have vision. We find home south now. Gather wood from hoard. Raid larder for food. Come now, we go." With these words the Glowy-Eyes collect enought food and wood to survive the night and begin their descent heading south like the other tribes.

Hours later they build a small campfire for themselves and begin eating their meal for the night. They are content to be on their won for now, the small tribe gathered in a circle around Whitescale, who prays to various deities whom's names he makes up as he goes.

A kobold carrying long spear appears before Flaming-Toes "And why exactly would we choose to trade with you, weaklings, instead of simply squashing all of you and taking your resources?!" he says squinting his eyes and barely containing anger.
"Umm, sir... If we attack them, tired as we are we might loose... and even if we don't it would still take much more wood everyday to get us enough fire..." a smaller kobold whispers to Mr Stabby, who turns to him and smacks him over the head, saying "And what kind of reason is it, give me a good one, unless you want to get flogged!".
The other kobold shivers in fear for a second, but then remembers that it could only bring him more trouble. So instead he straightens up and speaks in much more confident voice "If we trade with this tribe we would need a lot less wood chopping in the future and have much more time for fighting, sir!"
*few seconds of silence*
"Good enough." Mr Stabby turns to Flaming-Toes again "You have your deal, witch."

--------------------------------------------------------

Flaming-Toes nearly wet himself as the big, angry Kobold threatened to kill him and take his stuff, but he stood firm; his skills were much more useful that the little bit of wood his tribe had managed to scrape together. When the other Kobolds pointed this out, his shoulders slumped in relief. Ordering his tribe into the camp, he set the Brightclaws to making a nice big fire to shelter them all. It was so big it could even shelter another entire tribe! His special tinder, soaked with a mixture only he knew how to make, was useful indeed.

The Angry Ones were scary, but now that the wood was all gone the Brightclaws were only useful to them alive. The scariest part was past, and now a big, mean tribe could watch out for them. That was very, very good. And since the Angry Ones didn't seem like the type that was going to let someone else fight with them, and Flaming-Toes didn't really want to have to fight anyway, he got an idea. Just in case there were nasty monsters in the area the next morning.

"Big Chief Mr. Stabby, thank you for your hosp... hospit... help. To say thank you, we want to give you our big spear. It's a very nice spear that will help you fight even more good, because we suck at fighting." With that, Flaming-Toes handed Mr. Stabby the spear he had taken from Ashmore's hoard so that the barbarian kobold could defend the two tribes even better. He felt much safer from the monsters already, and now there was even less reason for the Angry Ones to eat him in his sleep.

--------------------------------------------------------

Since Barbarians can't cooperate, it doesn't do any good for the Brighclaws to keep their Spear when the Angry Ones are better at fighting. In light of that, the Brightclaws will give the Spear they got from the Dragon Hoard to the Angry Ones, in the hopes of being protected even better. Or maybe stabbed in the back, but hey, what's life without a few risks.

Applying Dragonblood bonus to all kobolds within 1 square of K6 unless they decide to attack the Overseers. This applies retroactively apparently.

Zik-Zik was glad they could at least flee in an orderly manner. Sure, his whole life had gone from a simple, comfortable and well organized parade of ease into a terrifying battle for survival but at least he could be neat about it. True, they had not had time to grab nearly as many supplies as they had wanted but one of the neophytes at least had thought to grab a a good axe.

Exiting the mountain, Zik-Zik saw the smoke of a large fire burning in the distance and had the group set their course for it, the humans had come only from the north, anything to the south was as likely as not friendly. As they drew near Zik-Zik allowed his dragonborn aura of command and fortune fully unfurl itself, wrapping all kobolds nearby in its warm embrace.

Entering the camp, Zik-Zik noted that it was controlled by one of the more military, and likely uneducated, members of Ashmore's servantry. Likely irreverent as well, which could affect his approach.

"You are making yourself more and more useful. I might even let you live in the end." he says taking the spear and looking really happy. (Other tribesman look uncertain what to do... some of them see him happy for the first time...)

It was truly a sign that the Great one had fallen. A sign of the error of his ways. A sign that weakness and heresy could bring down the greatest of Gods. It was furthermore a proof of all he had predicted... that when the Dragon had foolishly let the humans expand and progress his end would come.

These thoughts were shared by the clan just as they spread among the armories reclaiming ranged weapons that would provide an edge in weeks to come.

It was just after the end of the first day that the warriors returned with bountiful food and also information that other tribes had similarly spread out from the mountain.

Fools, misguided fools certainly. But Kobolds. And that was all that mattered. Traitors, mutants, miscreants... those would have to be purified in the fires that would follow eventually... but still by virture of blood, race and presence they proved their divine right to rule.

@ Zik - Zik (Saldoro)

A messenger sent by the God-Emperor of Scalykind approaches the obvious leader of the Overseers while avoiding the other tribes in the area. Having heard of the tribal leader while still under the Dragons rule, the God Emperor could tell when someone would prove an ally and the expansionist kobold had now need of such allies.

"Greetings master of the Overseers. I bid you greeting in the name of the God Emperor of Scalykind and leader of the Monodominants..." spoke the messenger paying appropriate deference as befitted a tribal leader.

"My master desires an exchange. Your presence has already brought us luck in the hunt today and we see you are as industrious as you are capable. Would you care for a trade of wood for food? Even if among these... others you have received sustenance the days to come are hard and food will be in short supply..." spoke the messenger with no hint of deception.

Suggesting a trade of 1 food for 2 wood... seeing as otherwise we will starve next round as well :D

Neversmile runs like hell the opposite direction the humans are coming. A bunch of other kobolds decided to follow him.

As they rush outside the lair they run across the armory and Neversmile decides to take a Spear in case he have to poke someone.

They keep running past a big camp full of other survivor kobolds looking at them with they grumpy faces they leave just as fast leaving a dust cloud behind.

They reach a mush smaller camp and decided to stop. The night in near and their fire looks charming.

When neversmile stops and turns back he sees his followers have gathered a variety of food while running. Neversmile approach the campfire. "We had to leave the dark moisty lair in a hurry and we forgot to grab some damn adventuring packs. I could offer you some awful looking food in exchange for a night near your scarce tiny campfire."

@Croverus: I would like to trade 1 food for 1 wood, put that wood in your campfire so it is big enough for us two and then move further to K8 to explore.

Zik-Zik wants to trade you the axe for food and craft points, he's just being a jerk about it. He's offering it for some combination of 6 of the 2 resources which you can pay over the next few days as you actually start getting your hands on disposable income. He'll throw in what's left of the wood after trading with the Monodominants too.

I have no objection to the trade in general, but you offer far too little food for what you ask.
2 wood for 2 food. Alternately, 1 for 1 and you could try to talk the Angry ones into upgrading their fire and letting you in.

@Everyone
Zik-Zik sends messengers to the leaders of all the nearby tribes to inform them of his prescence and his blessing and to invite them to share the good fortune he brings them.
He's offering the deal from the OOC thread for future turns. You get the blessing and then have to give him 1 unit of resources if you roll 4 or higher scavenging. This turn is free, but if you don't pay tribute after receiving prosperity on future turns you can expect not to get his blessing again. The bonus his blessing gives you to combat is included in the price of the scavenging blessing(though not if you're fighting him or his protectors).

Chaos proves bad for kobolds. Early in the human's invasion, No-Lips scrambled to one of his hidden supply caches, hoping to grab something that would allow him a few more days' survival in the barren wild outside. Unfortunately, a falling rock stuck his head and knocked him out for several hours. When he came to, the humans had already one and were hunting down those kobolds to slow to escape. His squad had managed to find him, however, and dragged to the relative safety of a hidden cave near the exit.
"Boss! We needs to be goings! Look, we gotsa some things for outside!" squeaked Vaquero, his lieutenant, holding up a scavenged spear.
"Yes, yes. Quite. I suppose it could help in a fight." said No-Lips. He turned his head and listened outside. No humans here. Let's run."

They travel through the night, eventually reaching an area far to the south, at the limits of the horizon. Several other tribes have made their camp around.

The Silk-Claws were not hurried as great Ashmore fell dying from the sky, his gleaming scales rent by a well-placed arrow, and his fiery breath turning to smoke. Each one had planned carefully for such an event, the moment the Human Armies had come into view from the top of the Red Mountain. While other tribes scattered in panic or rushed to arms they carefully wrapped food and supplies into small, manageable packs on their backs and filtered out from the Mountain.

Soft-Tongue picked her way carefully over the rocky, desolate ground, presiding over the small tribe as it filtered down towards the forests at the edge of Ashmore's grave. They took their time, keeping close to the rocks lest they attract unwarranted attention. As the forest wrapped around them Soft-Tongue breathed a sigh of relief, and sent the Silk-Claws out to gather fresh wood for fires. Rather quickly the tribe found the large bonfire the Muffin-Blazers had built.

Soft-Tongue stepped into the firelight and bobbed her head politely as Pillsbury approached, along with the other tribe leaders who shared his fire.

"Greetings. Pillsbury, Draken, No-Lips, Adam. So. Ashmore is fallen. May we join your fire? Many times has one of your own come to my people for healing and counsel. I would not have had that be no more simply because the Great Wyrm is gone."

Four bonfires burn brightly in the night. The largest is that of the Muffin Blazers, who have extended their hospitality (in exchange for food or other goods) to the Black-Hearted Stay-Sands, the Scaly Ones. the Blue-banded Hawks and the Silk-Claws.

Two smaller fires blaze as well. One for The Angry Ones, The Brightclaws and the Overseers who have formed into a loose coalition, and a second for the Glowy-Eyes and the Grumpy Ones.

One final, small fire burns off to the side, keeping only the Monodominants warm.

But these fires on an open plain come at a price; visibility. In the morning you see, on the near side of Red Mountain, the Army of the North re-forming and preparing to fight.

Note: K6 has been scavenged clean.
J6, K7 and K8 have enough resources for 1 more scavenge checks each
J7 has enough resources for 2 more Scavenge checks

At the end of Round 2 the Humans are going to attack half of all of the Campfires made, favoring the larger fires. You have two options;
1) Make "decoy" fires. Each decoy fire costs the same amount of wood as a regular fire (meaning Alchemists get a -1 wood bonus) and makes it less likely that the Human army will find the "real" fires.
2) Hide your fire. Hiding a 1-Tribe fire takes 4 Craft, hiding a 3-Tribe fire takes 6 Craft, hiding a 5-Tribe fire takes 8 Craft.

A 3-Tribe or 5-Tribe fire counts as such both for the chance to get attacked and the Craft cost to hide it, even if they are not serving to capacity.

If a particular Fire is attacked, all Tribes there must make a Fight check. A victory for any Tribe at a Fire counts as a victory for every Tribe at a Fire. Cooperative checks are allowed.

If a Tribe that isn't attacked is in the same square or adjacent to a square of a Tribe that is attacked they may (but do not have to) make a Fight check to assist the Tribe that was attacked. However, if they do and none of the Tribes participating in the Fight succeed at the check, then that Tribe dies as well.

Tonight no huge fires are visible. In truth, the same five tribes that were sharing a fire last night, The Muffin Blazers, Black-Hearted Stay-Sands, Silk Claws, Blue-Banded Hawks and The Scaly Ones, have conspired to cleverly conceal their whereabouts.

Two medium-sized fires burn clearly. One is inhabited by the Angry Ones, Brightclaws and Overseers, counting on their ferocity in battle to see them through the night. The other is empty, a clever ruse by the Glowy Eyes.

Three more small fires burn through the night, inhabited one each by The Grumpy Ones, the Glowy Eyes and the Monodominants.

The humans come down for the mountain during the night. Screams of fury and frustration are heard when they reach the decoy fire only to find no Kobolds there. They are more fortunate on their second attempt, finding the camp of the Angry Ones, Brightclaws and Overseers.

The Angry Ones, Brightclaws and Overseers must each make a Fight check. They may choose to cooperate following the stated rules (no more than two Tribes may cooperate without a Diplomat).

They lay down their burdens of firewood, bundled into compact piles. The rest of the tribe had already tended the fire as their allies worked to hide them from Human eyes.

Soft-Tongue herself returns Pillsbury's Axe, glancing around and speaking in a low tone so as not to alert any sharp-eared hunters that night.

"It seems we are well hidden. Still we should be ready to leave in the morning. Deception is a fine thing to blunt-sensed humans in the night, but not in the light of day I think." her large, soft eyes glance at the other leaders.

"Is there any suggestions on which way we should go?"

With the backing of the Brightclaws and the blessing of the Overseers, the Angry Ones face the human armies in battle. The tough, well-armed little Kobolds overwhelm the weary humans, saving the Tribes from destruction.

Act 1, Scene 3: Let Loose the Dogs of War
The humans are routed, tired, wounded and frustrated by your false fires. They decide to take another approach.

During the course of the day you see soldiers pulling at rough leather ropes tied around the necks of great, black, shaggy beasts that resemble wolves. Instead of hunting you tonight, they are going to sick the dogs on you! There is no way to hide from these beasts; they are familiar with the scent of Kobold.

Your options:
1) Run. The dogs will not pursue anyone below row 10.
2) Make traps. During the course of this round you may combine 2 Craft and 1 Food to make a set of Traps, then place them anywhere (unlike normal crafting, you do not have to "purchase" these at the beginning of the round. You may set them down at any point).
3) Fight. It should be noted that dogs do not have the pride of Kobolds, and there is no limit to how many of them can cooperate. The DC of the Fight check will vary in regard to how many doggies are in the same or adjacent squares.

Mechanics
Once everyone has declared their action I will roll 1d6 for every Tribe and every set of traps above row 11 (1d7 for Priests or for traps set by Priests). For a Tribe, a roll of 3 or less means they are attacked. For a set of traps, a roll of 4 or more means they have caught dogs (Dragonblooded Leaders can add +1 to any or all of these rolls).

Traped doggies belong to whoever set the traps. As long as a Tribe is ridding doggies they get +1 move and +1 to Fight checks, but they eat an additional Food resource per turn. A Tribe may not benefit from more than one set of doggies (the amount gained from one set of traps). The Tribe which owns the doggies may trade them to another Tribe using the same rules they would use for trading tools.

A Tribe riding doggies may slaughter them at any point for one additional Food resource.

Beating doggies in a fight results in one additional Food resource.

Scavenge (Craft): [roll0]

--------------------------------------------------------

Flaming-Toes and his tribe-mates cowered through most of the battle; the humans were big and strong, terrifying to behold on their stomping horses. But the Angry Ones fought like Kobolds possessed, slaying them left and right, and soon they were driven back into the night. The little coalition of tribes moved on as well, but in an orderly march rather than a frenzied retreat. They were victorious, and though they could not face the human armies directly it felt good to defeat their scouts at least.

New lands, unpillaged by needy Kobold claws, stretched out before the Brightclaws, and Flaming-Toes gasped to see the size of the world he had been content to ignore in the safety of his lab. Beyond the desolation wrought by Ashmore lay what seemed an eternity of rolling, lightly-wooded plains. Birds sang, crickets chirped, and... hounds bayed? Fear rose up in him again; the Humans were not going to let them escape so easily, even after one ignominious defeat. Something had to be done!

"Gather good, sharp rocks, slippery leaves, and solid logs," he ordered, visions of concealed pits and deadfall traps whirling through his clever little mind. If they kept fighting on the Humans' terms they might eventually lose. But if they fought on sneaky Kobold terms, how could they possibly be beaten? Of course, he would have to present his plan to Mr. Stabby, and that was always nerve-wracking.

"Oh great Mr. Stabby," he said as he approached the formidable warrior, "we got the tools to make nasty-deadly kill-pits for the Humans' doggies, if you think that'll work. We'll give you all of them, and we'll make fire tonight wherever you want, if we can get some more food." Flaming-Toes's stomach rumbled, and he looked down in embarrassment; it'd been a long search, and they might yet march onward that day.

Leader: God-Emperor of ScalyKind
Type: Priest
Location: J9 starting and scavenging
Food: 4 (gives 1, eats 1)
Wood: 0
Craft: 8
Tools: Bow and Arrow (Scavenge for Food +1)

The Monodominants begin with scavenging for things that can prove useful for them AND the Glowing Eyes.

[roll0] (+1 from Dragonborn aura) craft.

Once that is done they will give food to the Glowing Ones in exchange for getting to join them in a combined medium fire but before doing so they make a suggestion.

"Perhaps before making camp we should advance? We do not need to clear the path but our race prospers by activity and efficiency. We just need to be ahead of the others... perhaps it sounds cruel but for Koboldkind to achieve its potential of ruling this earth we need the strong, the pious and the smart with us...

Oh and furthermore our laborers have made great advancement in getting crafting tools. Is there something in particular you suggest we get? I do think that getting some weapons for our defence or generally amassing tools for all short of work would be beneficial in the long term... alternatively traps to capture the dogs could be a benefit but perhaps that would be too resource intensive in the long run..."

If the Glowing ones agree, the Monodominants will move to a combined camp at L10.
