Converting Full Casters to Spontaneous

As I mentioned in a previous post, my group has been playing with a more optimistic chart for full spontaneous casters. Here's what we did:

Now we are thinking of making all "full casters" (i.e., those casters who have the potential to cast spells at levels 0-9) spontaneous casters as opposed casters who memorize. We're likely to allow a trade of one spell out and one of an equal level in at each level.

We are not amending the spells per day, though maybe we should. We are, however, thinking about how to further differentiate sorcerers and wizards (and whether its worth having both classes) now that they're both spontaneous.

I'm wondering what people think.

different (vanilla) spontaneous caster classes have different spells known/lvl. is this taking that into account? is this just for arcane casters, divine, or both?

edit: as far as the sorcerer goes,i do like it. it's not like the sorcerer has a repertoire of 12 spells per level or anything, i've actually wanted to buff sorcerers in my game, i might just use that chart. but that chart, is like, exactly what the favored soul chart looks like.

Wow, those are quite similar.

The plan was that all full casters, whether arcane or divine would use this chart. I'd be open to why it might go one way or the other.

What's attractive about this is that it makes fro more thoughtful choice for how you want to design your character. Spells are limited and you'd better choose well for your environment. It would also cut down on all that spell selection time.

Yeah, I would axe wizards if everyone is spont. If you have Complete Divine, you could use Favored Souls instead of clerics (but move their spells known and per day up like you are already doing. 2nd level spells at 3rd character level instead of 4th, etc.)

You might also want to think about how metamagic works. I'm of the opinion that full round spont metamagic is generally better than prepared but standard action metamagic, but it's something to think about.
