Flag of Inside, flown over all Remnant and Government Installations

Current Events: Ninjas have kidnapped The Internet! Are you a bad enough dude to rescue The Internet?

The title is a misnomer, of course. No doubt the moniker of this place was settled on after a brief conversation that started with, 'Wouldn't it be funny if...?'. But now the name has stuck.

But what is this place, you ask?

Inside is everything within the City Walls. As opposed to Outside, which is everything without. This strange, whimsical city seems to be the center of a planar Nexus, a crossing point between all possible worlds. One can find just about anything in this wondrous place, dreams that defy imagination and terrors that freeze the soul. People and whole places are regularly drawn into the Nexus, added to the chaotic melting pot of all possible realities.

And more than a few realities that aren't possible.

The city is surrounded by defensive walls, with an artificially and accidentally created moat outside the walls, a moat that has been diverted into a river-channel for one many bodies of water flowing through Inside. A gap in the walls and a bridge allow for entrance into the city proper, the main gate opening up to welcome newcomers Inside.

Welcome, traveler, to the City of Inside. The only boundaries you find within are the bounds of your own imagination.

Rules, Zones, Streets, and Locations

Rules

1:Please Spoiler any Fanservice in this thread! It is accepted that there will of course be some, and that romance and curtains happen. However, please be courteous to others and spoiler any scene that goes on for a little while, and if it reaches the point, curtain. This is so you can stay within forum rules, as well as letting those uninterested in the scene, pass by. Thank you.

2:Godmodding is not permissible! As stated in the rules in the FFRP Central Thread, (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166066), godmodding is generally not allowed without permission. If you're shaky on what might be, and what might not be godmodding, please follow the above link.

3:The DOOM-Shield. Inside is currently equipped with a techno-magic shield that mitigates "global" effects to a survivable level. This is to prevent anyone from simply killing all the NPCs, or affecting the entire city. For example, a plot that envelops the entire city in sub-arctic temperatures, will find that the cold isn't as bad as it should be, and survivable.

4:Remnant. Please remember when doing any plots or large events, that even though it has it's own thread, Remnant (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211872), the Inside Police Force and Army, is located in Inside, and may respond to events, or may be asked to respond to them. More information on them will be provided later.

4:All Inside-Wide/Nexus-Wide plots need to be brought up in OOC first! We all want to have the entire city be cast into a frozen wasteland from time to time, but such things need to be brought up in OOC first, to allow players plenty of warning, and so people don't feel like anything is being forced upon them that they don't want to RP.

5:Inside is not Space! Anything involving massive spaceships, meteors, satellites, Lasers From Space, and the like, do not belong in this thread. Few PCs have the ability to fight off an orbital bombardment, so it is considered unfair to be able to call down such things inside Inside. It can be assumed that the Doom Shield prevents such things from occurring. The place for these sorts of things should be in Outside, or another thread all together.

Zones, Streets, and Locations

Please PM Rebonack to have a new location placed in this registry.

Zones:

In the Zone(s): The City of Inside is separated into three socioeconomic zones color-coded for your convenience.

The Blue Zone is upper-class, well to do portions of Inside.

The Grey Zone is the portion of the City that is middle-class. It also includes many commercial and industrial portions of the City.

The Red Zone is the of the City that is degenerate, destitute, or downright dangerous. Sometimes all of the above.

Streets:

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Generic Street? The City of Inside also has a number of Streets. The Streets aren't a street in the literal sense, but rather portions of the City with a particular theme. While one can find anything anywhere in the City there are none the less areas were certain settings predominate.

If you have an idea for a Street feel free to suggest it in the OOC thread.

Known Streets:

Generic Street: The generically modern setting! Generic Street is perhaps the most plastic of the Streets, displaying a decent mix of all settings, though modern predominates. Generally speaking most locations without a Street name will be found here. The most commonly seen locations here are the Streets and the Slums. Occasionally The Rooftops if someone is feeling daring.

Arkham Street: Spanning 1920s-1940s style sci-fi and horror, Arkham Street is home of such spooky locations as Philip Memorial Library, the haunted Carter House, and Dunwich Park. The more upscale portion of Arkham Street is known as Metropolis Square, a metropolitan area sporting Diesel Punk style robots and rayguns and mad scientists oh my!

Cirrus Street: Cirrus Street is the FUTURE! sci-fi portion of Inside. Most commonly seen are the post-apocalyptic Bombed Out Zone with its never-ending zombie vs Martian vs killbot vs mutant war and the hopeless squalor of the Underhive. In addition to these areas there's also the chrome and glass clad Skyway. Think Jetsons with more foot-paths. Repulser Trams connect the Skyway to other portions of Inside for those not blessed with flying cars.

Market Street: Market Street is the ye olde portion of Inside, complete with bards, fools, open market places, and the occasional damsel in distress. While products of any age can be found in the sprawling street booths everything is done ye olde style-e. If you need a chase scene to crash through a fruit-cart this is the place to do it.

Yellow Dog

At the edge of the city of Inside, a unique street marks the border between the wilderness and the world of men. Two rows of wooden buildings stare at one another from across the sides of a dusty, unpaved street. The dark brown wood is bare, held in place with rough nails, only the occasional brightly painted sign relieving the earth tone monotony. This street is called Yellow Dog, and it is a little mining town right out of the Old West.

Well, not quite right out of the Old West. You see, anything and anyone that has even a little to do with the West comes to Yellow Dog. It doesn't matter what kind of West you're from; a Fantasy West with dragons and demons, a Steampunk West with stompy mechs powered by cloud benching coal furnaces, a Samurai West were a man's sword is as trusted as his six-gun, a post apocalyptic or futuristic West were revolvers come in laser form and the horses are robots; heck, even folks from just the plain old regular West are welcome here, and they don't mind strangers round these parts. This is a place were a gaggle of fur trappers and buffalo hunters haggle with a squid faced merchant about the worth of their haul. This is a street where dwarf and gnome gold miners walk into town, comparing the size of the nuggets they've panned from the rivers as they head towards the saloon. This is a place where you can pass a man dressed like a Union Cavalry Officer talking with a robot cowboy on a steel horse. You can walk down the way and pass a mysterious man who greets you with a "Konnichiwa, pardner.", as his samurai sword rattles lightly against his holstered pistol. Gunslingers, cowpokes, gamblers, bandits, prospectors, pioneers, profiteers, preachers, snake oil salesmen, trappers, hunters, townsfolk, wildmen, and things much weirder all mingle along this dusty lane.

Welcome to Yellow Dog, pilgrim. Enjoy your stay.

Locations:
Azik's Enchantments(Player: Harnel, Grey Zone)

Those in the area will hear a rumbling as the Nexus begins pulling in something larger than just a single person. Reality bends, and the shape of portal opens above a certain street corner. For a sickening moment, nothing happens, but then things start coming out of the portal - all of them are bricks, building up finally to a door and a roof, with tiny windows built in. There's even a large chimney sticking out of the center of this strange, conical building that begins puffing rainbow smoke almost immediately.

A creature steps out the front door, though many wouldn't consider it a creature - He is a warforged, a living golem. Covered in what appears to be adamantine plates, he looks up and down the street, his longcoat catching in the breeze. as it flutters, one can see a multitude of wands, schema, and scrolls all attached to several belts around his waist and upper legs. On his eyes he wears a pair of blue tinted shades, despite his lack of ears, and the metal orbs that serve as his eyes glow green behind these spectacles. He looks up and down the street. He doesn't seem to be particularly disturbed by the change in location, but he does take the time to call out, in a metallic voice:

"Azik's Enchantments is open for business! Come find a potion, a wand, a scroll to fit any need! We have spellbooks for beginners and experts! Weapons of all shapes and sizes, and armor unlike anything you've ever seen! Come find what you're looking for here!"

And then he heads back inside. So much work, so little time. Inside is as strange as outside, with magic trinkets lining the walls on shelves, but all behind the counter, to keep any stupid kid with the idea to steal something from doing so. You can find just about anything magical here, and that which you can't find, Azik the Warforged can make within a more than reasonable timeframe.

Emergency Bunkers

Eight bunker-like structures in a ring-like arrangement at about the midpoint between the walls (or the docks) and the center of the city have been completed.

The interior of each is rather dull, rather befitting a bunker, but there are underground areas beneath the visible bunkers. These are similarly dull and military-styled, but they also act as hospitals.

These are mostly designed with emergencies such as shelling in mind, and are usually closed.

Emergency Clinics
Like the bunkers the clinics are spread through-out the City and are equipped with technology akin to a modern emergency room. Since there's no magical healing available the speed of recovery is going to be noticeably lower than what is available at one of Inside's many temples. However their availability makes them absolutely vital in the application of life-saving care.

Erin's Emporium (Player: The Bushranger, Grey Zone)

Construction Gnomes have been hard at work renovating a small store along one of the various merchantile roads. Well, it was small. Now it's bigger on the inside.

And filled with every sort of weaponry imaginable, from across the multiverse. From blaster carbines to P-90s, surface-to-air missiles to ballistas, zats to nunchucks, they're all here.

Is that a siege crossbow sitting in the corner?

Evolution Industries Headquarters + Factories (Player: Darkcomet, Blue Zone)
The headquarters of the company known as Evolution Electronics and Power is a fairly standard-looking modern-day tower in appearance, not quite reaching the level of skyscraper.

The company owns a large factory nearby, used in production of its MACE units, and potentially other products, should it be desired.

The company also possesses a number of other factories around the city, used for production of weaponry and other military materiel.

Retail outlets for Evolution's products are scattered around the city.

Finders Keepers (Player: Reinholdt)

[Gray Zone]

Sitting right near the edge of the Red Zone, a new shop has opened up. It's a basic looking office, part of a larger building. Out front is a sign,

FINDERS KEEPERS*
We find missing people, kidnapees, deadtime victims and more.

*And no we don't actually keep them. It's just a name.

Inside, is a secretary typing away at a typewriter. She directs customers to wait until their turn, at which point she sends them back to meet the shop owner, one Heinrik Hurtz. He is most clearly not related to any superheroes whatsoever. This is a fact in and of itself, proven clearly by the fact that Heinrik wears glasses.

http://i455.photobucket.com/albums/qq276/Reinholdt9000/Gaia/HeinrikHurtz.png

Hastings and Sons Mortuary (player: Kid Kris, Grey Zone)
Near one of the older parts of the city sits a large and somewhat dour building of brick and mortar, built in the traditional sense, with a metal plaque by the door that reads (predictably enough):

Hastings and Sons
MORTUARY
For the preparation of the dearly departed.
And indeed, should one go in one should find all the trappings of a conventional mortuary, including several large visitation rooms, run by this guy:

http://public5.tektek.org/img/av/1008/d05/2213/715a669.png (http://tektek.org/avatar/38746382)
Though of course, usually without the zombie there.
In recent times however, the true business of the resident Mortician has branched into a more heretical bent, offering certain services to the living impaired (more commonly known as the foul Undead). These start at simple healings and flesh grafts (the flesh occasionally obtained 'legitimately', when a body comes in for cremation and the Mortician gives them an urn full of wood-ash, but usually corpses are obtained through donations from customers or good old fashioned grave-robbing). But services can also range into body part replacement and augmentation for the undead who wishes his creator had seen fight to give him a giant lobster claw or retractable venomous spines, or even full body/flesh reconstruction for the self-conscious lich (or lich in disguise, though making your new flesh look like someone else usually costs extra) or the zombie in his golden years. These customers usually come in through the back door, where there is a plaque listing the full list of services. Though of course some are brazen enough to come through the front door anyway.

((PM if you wish to interact with the Mortician, as Kid Kris may not always check the thread.))

MagMart (Player: Lord Magtok, Blue Zone)
An absurd mash-up of K-Mart, Wall-Mart, Target, and every other vile retail chain, MagMart is staffed by an unswervingly loyal Magbots, lobotomized talking cats that are too brain-dead to know any better, several voodoo spirits, and a pickle jar that everyone insists is a sentient being that only communes with those who truly believe in it.

Here you can find everything from curtains to carpets, macaroni to monkeys on motorcycles, groceries to zombies. The staff is always happy to help (or else), and if you aren't entirely satisfied with your shopping experience, you can pay a small fee to watch the MagMart employee of your choosing get fired out the MagMart complimentary employee morale cannon.

Magnificus Theater (Red Zone)
This large theater is an attempt to bring culture to the city of the Inside. Plays are regularly show here, and if desired other events can be held here.

The walls of the theater are colored with three shades of blue in a wave pattern. Inside the theater are a pair of grand staircases, with the railing colored gold, while the stone of the stairs is white. The stage itself is one of the largest in the Nexus, carefully designed for the greatest enjoyment.

Rules: Please, no violence. If you must have some violent action in a theater, pm me first.

Sable Spire (Blue Zone)
A great, black-colored tower now stands at the highest point of the Skyway. Appearing mostly similar to a modern-day skyscraper, albeit more futuristic, reinforced, and armored. Upon close examination, some parts of the tower appear to conceal compartments of some sort, likely something along the lines of concealed defensive turrets. the top portion of the tower is rather different in appearance.

It appears as a truly massive hatch, similar to what one might see over a missile silo under normal circumstances.

This hatch opens into the landing area of the aerial aircraft carrier Sanctuary, the main asset of the Altaran Irregulars. Said landing area is set to act as an elevator, capable of moving up to the top of the tower or moving back down to conceal whatever is landed (usually the aforementioned carrier) under the heavily armored hatch.

The Spire, constructed by Remnant in an alliance with the Altaran Irregulars, is now a major base for the the latter, who currently act alongside Remnant in protecting the city. Their troops largely use the same equipment as Remnant's, but use the old Imperial black-and-navy color scheme to distinguish themselves.

The Misspelled Cemetary (Grey Zone)
It's the rain that makes for the perfect atmosphere.

Since the party left the well lit cobbles lanes of the Market Streets the sky has opened up upon our intrepid band of adventurers with a vengeance. The wind howls through barren trees as the rain descends in sheets. The heavens are split by a ribbon of lightning and a roar of thunder.

A massive cast iron gate surrounds this place of once hallowed ground. Yes, hallowed once but no longer. The earth appears dead. Rotten. A phosphorescent green fog creeping along the ground. Misshapen fungus and molds clinging to crumbling monuments. Corpses exposed on the surface, half-eaten with decay.

The gate creeks open of its own accord as the party nears.

And above the gate, in rusted iron letters, reads:

The Misspelled Cemetary

The The Temperance Teahouse (Grey Zone) Owned by Artemis

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/1783/temperanceteahouse3xphde.png

http://www.valleyofisk.com/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/product_images/teahouse.jpg

In an old section of the city stands a wooden building of ancient construction. From inside comes the sound of good conversation and, occasionally, music being played. The scents of exotic teas, spices, and good foods drift out onto the street. along with the scents and sounds come an aura of peace and comfort. It's a nice place here, you could definitely stick around for a while, to escape the general madness of the city.

Two wings extend out from the main building. To the north (the right side as you face the tea house) is an extension of the main structure, still made of wood, the architecture is slightly different and more brightly colored, and also noticeably newer. The west side of the building is surrounded by a stone wall, enclosing a garden. The garden ends at a low stone building running the length of the west wall.

[Restaurant]Inside the restaurant is filled with tables and chairs, spread out across the dark hardwood floors. Thick wooden pillars support the second floor and the roof, their tops carved with geometric designs. At the north side of the restaurant is a long counter, surrounding an open kitchen. Steam and smoke drift up from the fires and the woks used for cooking. A shelf along the back wall is filled with dozens of tins, each containing a particular tea or herbal blend. Interspersed among them are tea kettles, each one used to brew a particular type of tea.

The center of the restaurant is open to the second floor. Stairs lead up to more seating on the second level, which looks down on the restaurant below over carved wooden balconies. The ceiling above the open space is painted with a mural of a golden dragon floating through the clouds and circling the sun.

Seats on the west side of the building go fast, as they offer the best view of the gardens. The south and east sides offer views of the bustling streets below. The north side of the second floor has no windows and sits above the kitchen, so it is often darker and smokier than the rest of the restaurant.

[North Wing]The north wing of the restaurant is of newer construction. It is more brightly painted and more heavily decorated than the main restaurant. Two doorways on each floor lead to a U shaped hallway that runs through the north wing. Sliding paper screens from the inner walls, so that they can be slid aside and make the spaces much larger. The lower floor holds private rooms that can be reserved for larger parties or special meetings. These rooms typically have a long low table surrounded by cushions. The second floor rooms have more flexible floor plans. Most have tables and chairs, often used to host card or board games. A few can be rented out for sleeping quarters, but patrons are reminded that the walls are, literally, paper thin. Disruptive behavior will have you evicted without a refund.

[Garden]The west wing of the tea house is a large garden surrounded by stone wall. A circular gate leads directly from the garden to the streets, as well as doors leading into the restaurant. The garden itself is carefully kept, trees and bushes trained and cut into pleasing shapes. Stone lanterns and statues decorate the garden. Two pools filled with koi fish sit diagonally from one another, connected together by a stream filled with river rocks. The sound of trickling water fills the garden. A winding path leads through the garden and over a low stone bridge. On the far side of the bridge, the path passes through another circular gate guarded by two stone dragons on plinths. the pair stare down at any visitors, questioning their intentions in passing through their gate.

Beyond the Dragon Gate the path becomes perfectly straight. On either side are large black stones surrounded by carefully raked white sand. The path passes under a red Torii gate before encountering the low stone building at the far side of the garden. The building runs the full length of the west wall and is open to the garden. Large prayer wheels line the opening and are turned by the breeze or visiting people. The walls within the building are heavily decorated and covered in hanging scrolls. At the center of the building is a shrine, covered in candles. Behind it is a mural depicting scenes of a warrior, a golden dragon, and the sun. Sitting on the shrine a wooden statue of a warrior, sitting in meditation, his sword set aside. The wood is lacquered and carefully inlaid with delicate patterns in gold. From the statue emanates a strong aura of peace, which spreads throughout the entire property.

NPCsHideki - A large man with a red face and a long nose, he is most often found in the kitchen, cooking up tasty things.
Hanako - An older woman, her black hair streaked with grey. She is Hideki's wife and most often found behind the counter serving tea.
Sakura - A lovely young woman and the daughter of Hideki and Hanako. She acts as a waitress and sometimes plays music.

OOC: Please Read. Important information.
The Teahouse and garden are protected by an aura of non-violence. Violent acts cannot be committed here. You cannot attack another patron or do anything that would cause them bodily harm. Anyone who attempts it will find it extremely hard to convince themselves to do it. If a particularly willful person overcomes this compulsion, something in the environment will intervene, as if by seemingly random chance, to protect their victim as if by divine intervention. Because that's exactly what it is.

Needle and Thread (Blue Zone, Player: Artemis97)
On one side of a wide cobblestoned street is a small shop. The sign hanging over the door depicts a simple spool of thread, pierced by a needle. No words were included, as a courtesy to those who could not read, nor were they needed. It was clear from the merchandise displayed in the two large windows on either side of the door that this was a clothing boutique. The right side displayed the latest in women's fashions, dresses and skirts in unique designs, all detailed by hand with beading and embroidery. The left window showed men's clothing, from a beautifully tailored three piece suit, cut from expensive fabrics, to the very best in adventuring style, rugged and sturdy, clearly built to last.

Inside, racks and manequins display more clothing, split down the middle between men's and women's fashions. The back wall held rolls of fabric, some plain, others with obviously magical properties. A large, three-sided mirror sits in the back corner, next to a small changing stall. On the other side is a small counter holding a cash register, behind that the door that led to a small workroom.

The Needle and Thread is a clothing shop specializing in custom tailoring and specialty designs. It is owned and operated by Lillith Rock, and the kindly fiendish woman can usually be found behind the counter, or working on orders in the back workroom.

Pontius' Custom Constructs (Player: Earl of Purple, Grey Zone)
The caravan of 6 wagons (I never said 3! Well, I did, but still.) arrives at a warehouse, previously for sale. The gnomes lead the golems and other constructs inside, and get to work. The warehouse has an open yard at the main entrance, and several golems, like crude figures of worked stone or wood, stand in the yard. A gnome wearing an apron over smart-yet-practical artesan's clothes and puts a sign up.

Sanctuary Fortress of Zoemaytare (Player: Rebonack, Red Zone)

Like so many other prominent buildings in Town, or not so prominent buildings for that matter, this place seemed to pop up out of nowhere over night.

Buildings are like mushrooms in Town. Probably spread via spores, too.

Regardless, here it is. A rather sizable campus marble hewn from the mountains some distance away. Carved and hauled here near the edge of the slums where they were no doubt assembled. Though... no one can quite place a finger on when this happened.

Though the buildings aren't of only cold hard stone, no. There are timbers as well. Not what one might expect, however. They seem almost organic. As though they had grown into place rather than being hewn.

Oddness aside, the temple is arranged in a rather interesting fashion. Several concentric wall and courtyards ending in a central temple.

The outer wall is lower than the rest, each tier of the temple built onto higher ground like a wedding cake. Each wall is topped with a roof supported on the inside by pillars, creating a sheltered walkway. The exact use of these porches depends on the section of the temple one happens to be in.

Anyone is allowed entry through the first wall and into the first court, the Court of Meeting. Beyond the second wall only worshipers of Zoemaytare are allowed admittance to the second court, the Court of the Blessed. Beyond the third wall only the priests are allowed, where they carry out holy rituals within the temple itself.

The Court of Meeting is dedicated to service of those the worshipers of Zoemaytare dwell among. Food is prepared for the hungry here and given out without expectation of recompense. Those without a place to lay their head are allowed to sleep within the porch. The grounds beyond the porch are devoted to a wondrous garden boasting vibrancy and spectacular color. This are is always comfortably warm and brimming with life. Wounds heal faster as the body is refreshed. Undead creatures will find that remaining here is decidedly uncomfortable.

The sky above the temple seems to be perpetually clear, filled with pleasant sunlight in the day and cloaked with gossamer stars at night. Benches are set up here and there, under trees with hanging branches and above fragrant shrubbery. A lively stream flows endlessly in a circuit about the Court, spilling into several larger pools and meandering up a small outcrop of stone before cascading back down the other side.

This section of the temple is tended by members of the faith. Not priests, though devote. They can be found tending the garden and serving warm food. When in service to the temple these devotees wear a white linen ephod bearing the symbol of a willow tree, ornately rendered in blue thread. They'll be more than happen to answer any questions. Priests tend to have stricter ceremonial garb, including a blue tunic and white robe in addition to the ephod.

Welcome, traveler. May you be more blessed when you leave than when you came.

New information that isn't readily noticeable at first glance at the temple will be added here.

The temple grounds are protected by a dampening field that blocks unauthorized teleporation and dimensional shifting. The place is something of a fortress after all. Being able to pop in and out at will would defeat the purpose.

Zoemaytare isn't a god of (fill in the black) but rather the patron and protector of her people. As such, her domain, if she even has one, is over all that her people do. The people in question are collectively known as the Zoeos, and this particular temple is their first major venture into Town. At present their stated goal is to set up trade relations and aid the city. This is ministered through the temple on account of the Zoeos government being a theocracy.

It just so happens that there's a dungeon under the temple, though the entrance to it is well hidden.

NPCs thus far:

Potentate of the temple: the head priest and administrator. He has yet to be seen 'on screen' though he has been referred to.

Regent Zachius: And elderly human with a coppery complexion and deep-set wrinkles, the sort of face one expects of a person who has spent a great deal of time in the sun smiling. He's a kind old fellow who is in charge of the Court of Meeting.

Regent Stephen: A younger human who smells rather distinctly of wolf. He's in charge of the dungeons of the temple and seems to be a rather caring and compassionate fellow. It's his job to bring the cases of prisoners before the Potentate.

Regent Thadeus: One of the priests who aids in minor upkeep in the temple proper. He usually isn't seen outside the temple and since his position doesn't put him in much contact with the common folk he tends to be somewhat aloof and judgmental. Also happens to be an elf. Those snooty elves!

Bognus Thundershield: a lay dwarf that operates the temple's teleporter, primarily from Trog's. Though people can be 'ported in from elsewhere as well. While it isn't commonly known, this device can send people over rather long distances, though it's somewhat inaccurate when doing so. Bognus is a bit gruff, though generally good natured. He speaks with a thick Scottish Dwarven accent.

St. Guinevere's Sanatorium for Lunatics and Object Seekers (Player: Anyone, Gray Zone)
This insane asylum exists for people questing after Objects from the Holders Mythos. Anyone can run an Object quest, but please look at the community agreed guidelines first (http://tinyurl.com/5w42x5c) as it helps keep things consistent.

If you want to use the Sanatorium for other uses, feel free, but expect it to be a house of unspeakable horrors. :smalltongue:

The Sitar's Strings
"By humans, for humans". This restaurant employees only humans and only serves human customers. It is a meeting place for the human supremacist movement. IC Owned by Brian Starling and managed by Jan Lamar. Non-humans with good disguises can get in without being challenged.

Players: (HT as owner/manager, C'nor as waitress Maeve, Mindfreak as entertainer Treb)

The Temple of Dalachrech (Player: Earl of Purple, Grey Zone)
The first room entered is a foyer. On the walls are red drapes with silver, two-tailed scorpions embroidered on to them, and next to the door is an ornate font. The granite font stands about waist height, and is a plinth with a bowl of unholy water. Winding around the font are carved centipedes. A door away from this chamber leads to the main prayer hall. This room also has drapes with the two-tailed scorpion device on the walls, and a red velvet carpet flanked by wooden pews leads to an altar at the far end. The altar is covered with red velvet, with a gold statue and red candles placed upon it. The statue depicts a demon with a centipede's body, a scorpion's tail with spinnerets next to the sting, a stag beetle's head and the claws of a praying mantis.

This is a hidden location in the Grey Zone. Please PM Earl of Purple if you wish to interract there. The Temple is now open to the public.

Trollfinger, Ironpick & Greencheek, Mining & Engineering (Player: Morty, Blue Zone)
A run-down building near Trog's Tavern was bought by three goblin enterpreneurs with a large crew and now houses their mining and engineering company. Everyone who needs something dug, built, repaired or blown up is welcome.

Warwick Works (player: happyturtle, Grey Zone)
In the industrial area, a building is rented and has a new sign put out front.

W
Warwick Works

The building itself consists of a small office area in front and warehouses in back. There is no indication of what sort of business this is, but a certain cyborg with a satellite might recognize the logo and name.

Witch Which's Wish Shop (Grey, Player: Haruki-kun)

Welcome. If you have stepped into this store, it is because you have a wish.

The store is big, ancient and beautiful. It has a large garden with colorful flowers, a pond with fish and running water, and chirping birds. This is the outside of the store. The inside, however, is, to put it simply, gloomy. There’s burning candles and incense everywhere. From the hall where you enter you are led off into a side room with a low table and cushions around it. A tall, masked and unnamed stranger brings tea and snacks to the guests. The Witch sits opposite and rarely ever moves.

RULES (OOC):
This is a Wish shop. Your character will only enter this shop if he has a wish. Whether the wish is granted or not is a different issue.
Witch Which is in charge of the shop and will grant wishes to everyone who asks, regardless of intent or alignment, as long as the appropriate price is paid. Under certain conditions:

Condition one: Witch Which will not haggle. She couldn’t lower a price or overcharge even if she wanted to. A balance must be kept in order for the wish to be granted.

Condition two: When a Wish directly affects another player’s character in a way that would be considered godmodding, the other player must agree first.

Condition three: The Witch may not reject any wish unless the price is too high to be paid. Wishes to take a life or to destroy the world, for example, carry a price higher than anyone can pay. ANYONE.

Condition Four: The Witch will never engage in battle. Be glad. The Witch is the very definition of True Neutral.

Condition Five: The store is not hard to access; in fact, there’s a big sign outside and everything. However, the store’s grounds exist in a special separate dimension, protecting it from anything that could destroy it, up to and including plot.

Condition Six: Haruki-kun reserves the right to alter the conditions if he feels they’re causing problems such as godmodding or similar issues.

(Haruki-Kun wishes for a PM to be sent to him upon someone entering the shop so he knows about it.)

Inside's Defenses, Remnant, and The Council

Defenses

As stated above, the city of Inside is defended by the Walls, Moat and DOOM-Shield, but it is also defended by a more "mundane" force field that can be called upon in times of need, as well as a number of more conventional defensive capabilities, nearly all of which are manned and controlled by Remnant(Controlled for the most part by Wolfbane). These include things from Emergency Bunkers, Relief Stations, Anti-Aircraft Cannon, and the like.

Remnant

As stated before, Remnant is Inside's police force, army, and main defensive body. It is made up of the remains of what was once the Acronymian Empire, and consists of hundreds of men, women, and machines, both soldier and civilian, sacrificing their daily lives and time to make sure the city of Inside is relatively safe for it's citizens. There are Remnant Outposts all throughout the city, with the main HQ in Blue Zone, and less Outposts in Red Zone. These can be reached fairly easily, and allow people to report crimes, turn in criminals, collect bounties, and even ask to be recruited. Remnant controls most of Inside's defenses, but also controls Rapid Response Units capable of stopping fires, providing emergency medical aide, and even disaster relief to clean up debris and fix buildings and roads damaged by the day to day events of Inside.

Squads of Remnants patrol the streets "every so often" and should anyone need one, can interact with them(Please PM Wolfbane upon doing so, however).

As a note, Low-Level Remnants can be Godmodded! They can be assumed to fight the fires that pop up, but can also be asked to provide basic information. This also means that they can be bribed for less well-known information such as someone's name and rank, or to look the other way for a small crime, such as theft. Anything more, please PM Wolfbane to let him know, in case there is something that needs clarified. The Remnants can be godmodded to be killed on occasion, but if it happens too fast, too often, Wolfbane may step in and RP it out. Once again, please PM Wolfbane if you plan on killing a Remnant NPC.

What is NOT Godmoddable:

-Getting Security Codes
-Accessing Secure Areas
-Killing off more than one or two NPCs at a time, or killing a Named Remnant NPC/PC
-Stealing Identities
-Destroying Remnant facilities

It is not impossible for these to happen, but with proper warning provided to Wolfbane, it can be RP'd out and attempted. However, it should be noted that only Low-Ranking Remnants can be Godmodded in this way.

Council

The Council (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195380) is the "ruling" body of Inside. A small group of individuals reside on it, and decide Inside Policy. People can go here for diplomatic relations, trials, or other activities that may concern dealing with an actual government instead of a police force or army.

[James Blond's Party - Where Justin Stole Everything]

The bad news for Justin and his kleptomania knack for nicking things acquisitions is that there is a dealer present, what with eighty grand going to the champion of tonight's game.

But win or lose, Justin is already Alyca's champion in shining armor.

The good news is that whenever Justin cuts James, James takes a sip of his drink. His drink that, after Miriah makes a trip to the bar under the pretense of getting herself a drink and adds a drop of clear, especially virulent poison to James's drink while she's there, will kill him stone dead later on tonight. Justin is the perfect distraction. He's keeping everyone entertained or frustrated and ignorant of their surroundings! Richest Guy warms up to Justin very quickly and begins talking about the pranks he pulled when he was young in high school and college. He jokes about what goes on in the offices of lower management and just generally has an all-around good time. Justin changed the attitude of the table. The unimportant people are getting a little more daring with their bets, the Richest Guy doesn't even care about playing cards anymore and is just doing whatever and having fun, and James is looking at him like he wants to shoot him in the foot every time he loses a hand. James is trying to switch up his style and tells, but tonight isn't his lucky night anymore and he gets more and more enraged as the game drags on. It doesn't help that Miriah is sitting at the bar behind him, drinking and spying on James's hand in the reflection of her glass. She subtly tries signaling Justin every time James is bluffing by downing a shot. By the end of the night, she could be super drunk, so hopefully Justin will catch on and clean James out before that happens. :smalltongue:

Jame's Blond's Party - Through the Drinking Looking Glass

Oh my. It seems Mr. Mine has a conspirator. Either Miriah wants Justin to look good, or James to look bad. Possibly both but more likely the latter if his behavior earlier was anything to go by.

Sorry Jimmy, but you're going down. I wonder if he'll cry?

With Miriah on his side and the others getting more daring, James will be out of the game in no time.

As for Uncle Pennybags, I bet Justin thinks he's a riot. He doesn't even have to feel to bad about beating him, since eighty grand probably isn't a drop in the bucket for him. And he's all kinds of not giving a damn about the whole game.

The ground is actually missing plants, even grass doesn't grow naturally. In one corner A stone lays on the ground and grass seems to grow near it.

At the end of the way stands a big bulding, simular to those old churches, but only made of metall like chopper iron steal etc. The front door is big enougth to even let a small giant inn. "Inside. Nexus," Dante says allowed, hoping that it would maybe jog his memory. Nothing. It is completely unfamiliar to him. "What is this place? Why am I here?" He has little hope for answers at this point, but he has to start somewhere.

Young Star is stunned by this to say the least. So much so he falls on his ass. "That was a stupid stupid idea," he says from the floor. His durability and suit stop the brunt, but that still hurt. Nothing compared to a buddy of his though. "Ookay," he says slowly, standing up, "I'm a bit distracted. Help me put together what we've got so far."

"We have two rooms that look the same. The bed and vase seem to want to stick to one place and when moved out of those places give off electric shocks." He offers a hand to Young Star to help him up. "The vase and sheets on the bed change color, in the first room there was a blue vase and yellow sheets. In this room we have a red vase and yellow sheets. Think red things do the shocking?" There are plenty of apparent rooms to explore.

[Abandoned Building]

Anyone may notice a small structure on a city street. It is in a state of disrepair, with the concrete construction chipped in places and falling apart in others. It has one window, the glass of which has mostly broken and has wood boards covering it. There is room between the boards to peer through, if one gets close enough. The door has a fingerprint scanner (which, oddly enough, works even if you don't have fingerprints and/or fingers) as its only means of opening.
(The door will accept any member of a corporation/organization. I wonder how it knows?)

A fox-eyed man walks up to the building, drawn by an instinctive impulse to adventure. He pushes up the brim of his black hat to better inspect the structure. Odd, that such a dilapidated building would have a fingerprint scanner. Wondering if it even functions anymore, he presses his finger against it. His fingerprint is the same as the Commander of HALO's, however that would be known.

The door clicks softly, then releases a smooth hiss as it slowly slides open.

Inside, there is a desk with several monitors on it against one wall. The room is very dusty. There is a rather small computer on the floor under the desk connected to the monitors, and another larger one with a post-it note attached, upon which is a hastily-scribbled note reading, "backup storage computer." There is a door on one side of the room, and a cardboard box sits in the middle of the room amidst a pile of computer components.

The building seems to have been unused for some time now, as the dust on the floor has apparently had no feet disturb it. The room seems to be dedicated to programming something, what with the backup computer and all the parts. The computer is still plugged into the power outlet on the wall behind it, and there's a stack of papers on the desk covered in notes for the code written in a sloppy scrawl. The desk also has a built-in cabinet, although there are keyholes on the drawers.

"The Nexus is... another world. Probably not the one you're fron," Imesah says. She still doesn't know much about it herself. "Why you are here is something you'll have to figure out."

Somehow, the idea of being in another world isn't as shocking to Dante as he would think. Perhaps it's that he's still struggling to remember what world he might be from. Would travel between worlds be something that was possible where he was from? Even commonplace? He couldn't be sure. Nor could he be sure if his entry into this world would be noticed. Perhaps travelers from other worlds were common. Perhaps some local authority would be sent after him for trespassing. Should he contact the local authorities? Should he avoid them? Too many questions, and staying around here, next to the still-burning trash can he apparently ignited with his mind, was probably a bad idea. "I should... go," he excuses himself from the armored woman's presence. "Thank you," he quickly adds as an afterthought.

So now is the time to try and make her escape. Now that Kirk is in front of her and she can see him again she figures this is her best and probably only bet. Luckly she doesn't need to use hand motions for her magic, not anymore at least.

She figures a distraction might be able to help so without looking she summons up two solid pices of light, one to shatter the window by the door, another to tip over a standing lamp so it falls in Kirk's direction. It might look like someone threw something into the window and hit the lamp, except that nothing flew through the air. Though it is surprising how many people probably wouldn't notice that.

Meanwhile she is going to summon up two sharp blades of light under her arms to grow out and cut the ropes keeping arms tied to the chair. If she gets her arms free the lightblades disappear and will reapear to try and cut her legs and back free as well.

Running a gun store in the Nexus is hard. You usually get enough to stay open from the general populace, and most people that have a reason to rob a gun store aren't well-armed enough to rob a gun store.

Every once in a while, however, there is a group that has a couple guns and decides they need MORE guns. In this case, the group is a collection of street toughs with a few cybernetic enhancements. They can be seen through the front of the store, taking their pick of the merchandise while Sam Smith looks on.

The Clock Tower

There is a large tower looking over inside, this is the same tower Enshadu flew into before plummeting down to Earth and losing his almost invincible shell. The clock has been repaired by whoever does these kinds of things, probably nameless NPC's. It's a large wooden tower with a well-built clock. The entire building resembles Big Ben, but much smaller. Everyone in Inside, and probably GloG and a few of the other local Organizations probably see it every day as they walk around. For this reason, Enshadu has made plans for it. Since his reprogramming, he's been doing his best to be as evil as possible. He needed to do something impressive Calublufiok said, so he thought he'd start with a public spectacle of sorts.

The android had walked through Inside wearing a massive black cloak over his purple coat and clothing. His hood covers his face and he walks in the shadows. He has a medium-sized black suitcase in his hands. He soon moves over to the clocktower. He then teleports to the top, inside the clocktower. In a few seconds he appears here, inside the tower, just behind the clock. He begins to whistle "Pop Goes the Weasel" absentmindedly. He sets down the suitcase and pulls out a 5 inch thickboard out of it, which he begins to fold out into a larger board with a small glowing ball built in the middle. He begins to take out a small remote control, and presses some buttons. A very large crate then appears on the teleportation board, sent from The Factory.

He moves this crate with his inhuman strength and soon three more have appeared. He sets these to the side and waits for his lieutenant to appear with his own "package". Enshadu sits on a crate and then begins to whistle. Now it's just waiting.

The leader will take a bolt to the gut and fall down. The one with the hunting rifle will shoot some more, but given the fact that he's not using the ironsights it's obvious he's used to a more inaccurate gun. The guy with the pistol, on the other hand, tries to shoot but his pistol jams. He throws it down and pulls out a combat knife instead.

DC nods. "Might as well start with the simple solution."

And it is at this point that the comatose maid is sent a simple psychic command. Wake up. What, you expected it to be something different?

((Sorry I missed this.))

It looks like it might work for a moment, and then she doesn't. It seems like her mind is elsewhere, still connected to her body but not actually doing something with it. Telling her to wake up just makes her wake up wherever she is, instead of in her real body.

The one with the rifle takes a moment to get more ammo and re-load his gun, while the one with the knife charges forward, intending to slash her with his blade. He has a fair amount of experience knife-fighting, it seems, as he uses proper combat maneuvers instead of just stabbing blindly.

Zane emerges from the shadows, taking his place beside Enshadu. Is everything in order? Have you selected anyone in particular? There is no emotion behind these questions. Hardly any curiousity...

The dragon, looking quite pleased, throws the board away. Dante will at this point hear his voice in his head. Although it might be a bit odd, it shouldn't be especially unpleasant unless something on his end makes it so. He sounds as if he'd be between twelve and fourteen if he was human, and has an oddly friendly tone.
Thanks a lot; you have no idea how annoying it is to be able to talk and not being able to actually do so. Anyway, I can do this sort of thing one-way, so any of the crap going on in your head can't touch me at all. Oh, and I'm Zebes, by the way.
(I pronounce it Zee-bs, by the way. Yeah, i know it's weird.)

The voice in his head is... weird. If Dante understood the metarphor he would compare it to getting static or interference with the voice. In fact, now that he's listening to the voice inside his head, he thinks he hears... other things. Unsettling things. They might be voices, they might be something else... "Dante. Amelia is frowning not sure if she could say anything to convince the pair that she is telling the truth. She figures that if she gets knocked out she is a dead woman.

The "Tracking" indicator, obviously enough, dictates what AI the program is following. Clicking it does nothing though. Maybe there's only one. "Ping location" will search for the AI and update the current location. "Locate on map" will display a map and where both the AI and computer running the locator are. "Connection Test" will test the AI's wireless connection.

The advanced controls are a bit more complex, and there's a lot of them. With some time, though, Tobias could probably determine what some of them do.

The boy is killed by the burst of gunfire, bullets penetrating most of his internal organs. He continues on his trajectory, but he'll be dead by the time he hits.

Half-drow girl is now on her own, and doesn't like her chances. She scampers up the wall, heading for a window into an old attic through which she can escape.

Dead human girl is still dead, and her corpse has finished deflating as the next generation of creepy child things slowly writhe away from their dead parent. The larvae seem to be large black maggots, and they move surprisingly fast, heading for the darkness of the garbage piles further down the alleyway.

When the boy impacts, Trenchcoat Guy ends up flying backwards, carried by the momentum of the oncoming dead-monster-child. He lets out a few grunts of pain and annoyance (mostly annoyance), before trying to kick the dead monster off of him and make for the entrance to the alleyway. There's three adult corpses hidden in the garbage; one is mostly skeletal, one is significantly decayed and the third has been dead a while and is missing its eyes, kidneys and liver. More interesting, however, are the two bodies of what seem to have been children, or at least children shaped.

The girl is missing most of its head, although thick black blood is oozing from the wound and it is riddled with tiny holes leaving her torso, holes that aren't bleeding, suggesting a post-mortem origin. Its mouth is partially open, showing off the eyeball between its lips- the iris is deep purple.

The boy's head is intact, a pair of short tentacles extending from its eyesockets and ending in miniature maws. Several holes have been blasted into its torso, from which large black maggot-like creatures are quickly wriggling away. This body is lying in a larger pool of black blood.

The only part of Imesah's body not protected by hardened leather or steel would be the back of her neck, which is pretty hard to actually stab in any scenario.

Frustrated by the man on the ground's refusal to stay down, she tries with another shield bash, to the guy's face.

The guy on the ground tries to grab the shield, and hold it. There is a hiss from his left shoulder and he suddenly becomes a good bit stronger. The guy behind her sets down his knife and tries to grab her from behind. The guy with the gun throws down the gun, and pops his knuckles.

You know how it is.

Minding your own business trying to get a feel for the strange, surreal world that you've been thrust into when suddenly some kind of alien doom machine shimmers into existence and blasts you out of the sky with a kinetic force-beam for no reason other than to be a jerk.

No?

You haven't ever experienced that before?

Weird...

One Tama Misha is sent tumbling through the air, thrusters sputtering as she tries desperately to break out of the stall. Whatever that thing hit her with resulted in a rainbow of warnings to light up all over her augmented reality vision. It's a bit disorienting.

Kind of like the tumbling.

The tumbling is pretty disorienting as well.

A few brief pulses from her thrusters manage to slow her down a bit, but not before she crashes into the side a building and begins scraping a rather nice gouge into its face on the way down. The trip ends with Tama slamming into the floor of the alley some ten feet to the opposite side of mister trench coat guy, her normally glossy white armor now streaked with grime, soot, and other unmentionables.

"That was a solid seven at least," she pipes up from her position as a crumbled heap up against the alley wall.

Besides, it's clear that I totally munched on these cadavers myself. I'm telling you, I didn't do anything but react in self-defense. "Bodies?" Tama Misha replies slowly as she finally manages to gather her wits. Yep. Bodies. Several adults that look chewed on and several 'kids' with tentacle mouths sticking out of their eye sockets.

...wut...

"...mutants?" she questions aloud as she rises to her feet and frowns at the scuffs in her plastoceramic armor. At least that will fix itself. Or at least that's what her HUD is telling her. Some nasty cosmetic damage but auto-repair should take care of it over the next few hours.

Well.

This just took an ominous turn, didn't it?

Despite the fact that she was just told not to touch any of the bodies she walks over to one of the dead 'children' and kneels down next to it. And then pokes it.

"Close off the alley and make sure he doesn't run." Hill gestures to Trenchcoat Guy, then walks over to Tama and tries to pull her up, with power armor-enhanced strength. "I said don't touch, we'll be handling this investigation from here."

Most of her upper head was blasted away, and a chemical analysis finds that her black blood is carbon-based rather than iron-based, and heavily laden with a hormone that is rapidly altering in structure now that it's out of the body- its original purpose was to keep a horde of maggots in biological stasis within the body, though now that the 'child' is dead the maggots have awoken and wriggled out.

DNA analysis shows these 'children' are more closely related to... Absolutely nothing native to Earth, actually, let alone humanity.

Turns out Tama really isn't all that heavy. That armor of hers is light weight and strong, perfect for making flight easier. Also means she can't do much when she gets yanked away from the corpse. Well, she could. It would involve violence. But given the choice she would rather like to avoid using violence. Especially against some random pushy folks that she just met.

Anywho!

Tama has very little in the way of technical knowledge, but her onboard computer helps in that regard. Especially nice that she quickly figured out how to tap into wireless internet here in the Nexus! What does all this mean? Well, Tama's augmented reality vision is informing her that the critter she poked is totally not human. That much she can understand.

Now about these people...

A quick inquiry regarding the 'Altaran Irregulars' yields that, "Not a gang. They're a police force. Sort of?"

Tama wrinkles her nose at the information being streamed into her brain. "Geeze, this is really confusing..."

Shoe-stealers are catchy tunes that help break focus, Scramblers mix up thoughts, Beaters are powerful single attacks, Defiants are personal protections, Ballads are used to Buff yourself and allies up in one way or another, and Screams are wide-spread damage." Plat laughs merrily before skating quickly through several backstreets and alleyways to find a junkyard. It's not abandoned, but Plat apparently knows the owner as he leaves a few coins with the guard to allow the both of them in. "We're able to practice here. It's Neutral Territory for the Music-Gangs." He explains before pointing at a series of rusted cars sitting in the open. He reaches down to tap his skates, getting rid of the wheels with a touch of magic before letting out a long breath, relaxing himself and preparing to unleash hell upon the metal targets.

Wendy will see him close his eyes, spread his legs out to a wider stance, and set his hands out to his sides like he's a disc jockey. A small hum comes from his throat as his hands move and she'll hear an electric guitar riff come from nowhere and everywhere before he throws back his head and lets out a scream far louder than his throat should have been able to produce. Waves of force erupt in front of him, turning over the ground and washing over the cars. Metal screeches and tears as his Scream hits hard, twisting them into wrecks. It's all over in a couple seconds, but it leaves Plat sweating and a bit paler than he usually is.

Even so, he's smiling happily, quite proud.

Well... Tama is bouncing her signal off a nearby cell phone tower. The signal that our trenchcoated friend is picking up isn't coming from her actual position. Might be easier to follow the map she sent?

"The power structure is... tentative. At best. There are people who ostensibly serve as emergency services for the city. Or who consider themselves the rulers. But their power doesn't extend far beyond a few select areas," comes the reply. "I'm not even sure yet if this 'city' has any real discrete area or if it just sprawls over into surrounding realities. The scientists back home would have had a field day with it..."

A beat.

"A military police group called 'Remnant' seems to be the main power base. And there's a City Council made up of prominent citizens. I'm sketchy on the relationship between the two."

After a while, though, she's mentally exhausted. It takes a lot of effort to do that over and over, especially when she has to fight against herself to do it. She struggles to pop the last balloon, and gives up after a few minutes of trying. "I think I'm done for today."

The Eevee rears back on his hind legs and drives his paws into the ball with all of his might! Cracks spider-web across the machine's surface as it crumples and finally shatters under the force of the blow. A few small sparks snap at the air before it finally falls silent.

Amelia thrashes around preventing Kirk from grabbing her other leg. She struggles to breath as Cassidy chokes her, unable to pry away her hands. She pulls her captured leg trying to throw Kirk off balance. Normally she would doubt it would work, so she summons up a bar of light, solid and steady, at shin level right in front of Kirk. Hopefully this summoned obstacle will trip him up, and if he falls close enough she will try to get a knee or foot to connect with his face.

For Cassidy she stops trying to pry away her hands with her right hand. Instead she summons up a blade of light and stabs back over her shoulder at Cassidy. Hopefully getting stabbed will make Cassidy let go of her.

Kirk steps forward to compensate for the struggle, or he would if he hadn't just bashed his shin on the bar of light. He stumbles forward and releases her leg, but he manages to get his other leg up over the bar so he doesn't fall right over. He does suffer a painful kick to the leg for his effort, though.

Also on this street is a somewhat short man in a black sweatshirt and sweatpants, with olive green hair and matching eyes. He walks past Terrence, and then stops, and exhales sharply.

"The pheromones still come through, and the blood is still going to agitate sensitive creatures. In addition, the pheromones aren't natural strength and so they'll cause unusual behavior. If you want to stop it, you'll need either a bit of modification or antipersperants. Barring that, I would recommend a different brand, to minimize the negative reactions from people who aren't affected."

The odd man hasn't turned around yet, and instead is musing on the situation. "It would be hard to merge it with the pheromones... I think there are a few elven scents that would make it better, but those are generally expensive. Oh, and if you can't think of any reason that you should smell like blood you should go to the hospital."

He hmms slightly. "If you take out the blood scent, it becomes much more feasible. Your best bet might be some more natural pheromones, which will take the olfactory edge off of the artificial ones. The oak musk wouldn't do that well... hmm. Perhaps some of the new spice? That stuff is from the future, apparently, but I've never actually sniffed it in detail... you know, I've never considered olfactory art before. I wonder how similar it is to culinary art? Over the better part of a minute, Terrance's body will change, widening hips, growing breasts, a thinner waist, a bit of a different facial structure. Still recognizably the same person, but not a wet girl with no bra. Thankfully, at least, she's wearing a black shirt.

"You rang?" Kwen asks, after teleporting in and clearing her throat to get his attention. Unless she can't teleport in, in which case, she'll just try the door and try to get his attention again.

She's wearing her usual floor length red dress, has her hair back in a loose ponytail, and has a laptop slung under one arm.

After some fiddling, Tobias figures out what each option does.

Tobias clicks "Ping location" and then "Locate on map". Then he greets Kwen. Hey. This computer mentions an AI and I'm curious if it's Skynet or HAL or what. Think you can figure it out?

"You idiot! What the hell did you do!?" Comes a yell from down the end of the street as Terry nears her home. The yell, which sounds suspiciously like her own did back before the genderbending, is coming from someone who looks a lot like her... sort of.

To be precise, it looks like a half-orc with a lizard tail, a pegleg, a sloped forehead, and four arms dressed in a ruined plaid overshirt and a matching kilt, but once you got past all of those oddities it still looked a tiny bit like Terrance. And boy does that Terrance look pissed.

We're assigned to a certain Nexus personality and just sort of go around soaking up all the Nexus weird that should otherwise be coming their way. The future self thing is standard operating procedure if things go sour and you accidentally get targeted by an event like this one instead of it latching on to me. I'm supposed to come to you before it gets worse and get you back on the right track so you don't end up looking like this on a daily basis." The doppelganger gestures down at himself with a clawed arm.

"Now, it's not part of my job description to help you undo what's been done, and so long as I'm talking to you I'm off the clock, so I'm gonna make this quick. Go to the mall, buy whatever it is you think you need to fix this, and while you're there pick up a few applications. If you can make it there the mall should be safe, the kopz keep conflict low. Imesah is kicked and punched. She tries to stand up and get back to the counter, as she needs to get into a better position for fighting with a sword.

[QUOTE=McBish;14854398][Cheap Hotel Motel]

Cassidy moves her face before getting stabbed, but the blade of light gets her across the face. She swears under her breath and doubles her efforts to choke Amelia unconscious.

And as Terry takes the first sip of Magweiser, she might suddenly become aware of a slight tingling in her scalp. Nothing bad. In fact, it almost feels kinda good, like a decent scalp massage.

This may distract from the fact that the tips of her hair have started to turn pink. Not any pink, but bright, neon, eye-searing bubble-gum pink, that quickly advances up the strands of hair, starting as almost lavender, then passing through mauve, pink, neon pink, then bubble-gum pink in a hurry as the coloration advances, reaching completion of a gloriously pink head of hair about the time she takes the third drink of the Magweiser...

...which is about the time her hair starts to grow. Slowly, but the fourth sip makes it accellerate; after two minutes she has a glorious mane of incredibly pink hair, stretching in thick, silken strands clear down to the small of her back.

I don't get it. It's not like we're touching his soul.

Maybe mortals are just weird that way. Okay, I want to do something to you, and I think you'll like it! I'll make sure it's super useful, and pretty, and not get in your way at all. Can I change you now?

The notion of permission seems to be less important to them... and now she is asking nicely... for all the good it does.

Yes!

And she might have a feeling behind her, not on her back but a bit away from it, and if she looks she will see a pair of... fluffy bright blue wings. They aren't actually attached to his back, and they aren't big enough to fly with... but he will quickly find they respond to his desires, moving around him. They can move... surprisingly fast, all said and done. And if he wants them to, they'll shrink down to next to nothing and flatten themselves onto his back.

There you go!

Bye! and he will feel a kiss on his lips and nothing more from the two voices...

...unless he touches his lips. His lips are now a scintillating rainbow color, like his arm, and if he touches anything with them he will leave perfect lip marks of the same rainbow scintillation. The lip marks disappear after about a minute and a half... but lipstick isn't going to work, as the lips leave their colors on the stick and not the other way around. It seems that they decided to have one last bit of fun with him before they left.

Well, that was decided less harrowing than some of the other ones. Not great, but the wings and wires are honestly fairly cool. She presses a pair of fingers to her lips, and looks at the scintillating mark that comes off with a sigh. Better than it could have been, worse than it might have been. At least it's over.

Terry will retrieve her bags from the ground, before continuing on her way home. One has to wonder what the rainbow lips looks like - probably quite nice.

When Tobias pings the location, the computer displays "Location Updated" in a pop-up box, but the location is still the Workshop. It apparently hasn't been moved. When "Locate on Map" is used, the screen changes to a map of the surrounding area. There are two location tags on the map, "Your location" and "AI location". Both are over the same small building. Tobias or Kwen may recognize it as the one they're presently in.

As Tobias found out earlier, there's no method of communicating with the AI at the present time. It has no connection to any systems it could use to talk through.

[Abandoned Building]

Yeah, sure, youbetcha. Tobias stands up to yield the chair to Kwen.

"Here, have communication software. Brought along juuuust for you," Kwen says to the computer, as she plugs her laptop into it.
In theory, that should give the AI in the larger computer access to various different ways of communication. If nothing else, Notepad.
Though the computer has some good speakers, so it's up to you how you want to have it communicate, Lurker, feel free to assume that if it's for communication and you need it, Kwen's laptop has it.

No, the AI isn't ON the computer. (It's on a flashdrive in a box on the floor.)
So nothing happens, but Kwen will probably be able to figure things out.
(I probably should have cleared that up earlier.)

[Terry's Apartment]

Terry, after an extremely weird day, will finally arrive back home, and once more head straight for the fridge. She grabs a Magweiser, and when she closes the door, Giacomo, her roommate is standing there.

"Care to-" He begins, a distinct grin on his face

"No," Terry says simply, and cracks open the beer.

"How about the shiny lips? Or the wings? You make a pretty hot girl, man, with all the beautiful colors and such a gorgeous figure. And we don't exactly live far apart." Giacomo is honestly used to seducing women, and now his roommate has become an exotic and beautiful one. Time to cash in!

"And yet I'm still not attracted to men, and have a date with a lesbian in a few days, a trick I believe I picked up from you," she says, before drinking, "Now leave me alone."

"Come on! I can-" he stops short as Terry puts a finger on his mouth, going for silence, and gives him a withering look. She's not in the mood. She then leaves him, and heads into her own room, which is followed by placing her beer down on the bedside table and flopping facedown onto the bed.

Terry's Apartment

Terry's not going to have long to relax, because the far wall of his room is not behaving as a wall should. In fact, it's behaving a lot more like a portal.

A giant, crackling purple portal that a grey wing-doored car seems to be coasting halfway through, driving into his room just far enough for the driver's door to swing upwards and a man with a bad mad-scientist wig on his head to step out.

"GREAT SCOTT Terry! We have to go back!" Yup, no guesses who this is. Waldorf has a shiny new toy to wreak havoc with people's heads.

"Don't you understand? We have to go back to the past so that your mother meets a smoking hot pink-hair angel half-elf, otherwise all your identification and bank accounts will be for the wrong person and it will be a huge hassle for you to get a paying job anywhere except as a Magclone's personal desk-polisher! I know, I've been to the future to see it with my own eyes!" That's quite the story there Wally.

"You fool, we don't have any choice! This is for your own good!" Waldorf reaches into the pocket of a labcoat that he wasn't wearing when he got out of the car and pulls out a little clay doll that looks an awful lot like Terry, at least so far as the pink hair coming out of its head and the female shape of it goes. He lays it flat on his palm and mutters a single syllable.

All of a sudden, Terry should get the feeling her arms and legs aren't responding to her will, locked in place by some oppressing force. If the voodoo spell has taken hold then when Waldorf turns the figure on his palm up to a standing position, Terry will get up herself, and from there it should just be a matter of walking it across his hand so that she goes to the car and straps herself in.

Waldorf smirks as he takes off the wig and drops it on Terry's apartment floor before holding his fingers up to the face of the doll, "I'm sorry, what was that? I'm losing my hearing in my old age. Did you say "Oh I'm ever so grateful for you giving me the chance to fix things mister Waldorf. Thank you thank you, how could I ever repay you? That's what I thought." Terry's lips and tongue should move along with Waldorf's words in her voice because of the spell, unless he can resist the sudden ventriloquism.

Wally straps himself in and looks out the back window, reversing back through the portal he created.

Which aught to take them back to the beginning of Terry's day right on the street outside his apartment! Contrary to what Waldorf said, this is where he planned to take them in the first place.

"Was there a tiny door under the vase?" he says placing the bed back down. "Or maybe a key inside or something? Check inside."

But it'd be a whole night before he showed up at GLoG again, probably! She needs to hear from him before then for peace of mind that none of her super secret spy enemies kidnapped or assaulted him! Most of all, she needs to text him nonstop for the next six hours like modern couples do!

"You'd call Miriah's phone. The number is stored in my contacts list or you can just order the phone to call Miriah vocally."

Or the police, since he's walking around with eighty grand lining his pockets.

The sisters begin moving toward the door! As they do so, Justin might spot James ascending the staircase with a girl hanging off of his arm!

[James Blond's Party]

"You've got it. I promise I'll call you first thing." The eighty grand part is hardly even occurring to him, mostly because he's used to carrying half a chest full of pirate treasure on his back everywhere. Paper money is way to light to even worry about.

Oh there's James! What should Justin do? Should he rub his nose in his loss? ignore him completely? Should he offer the girls his arms and strut out of here one upping the bastard. No, mimicking James is not okay in any circumstance. These two are close friends, not party floozies.

Justin has learned a lesson tonight, that he's better than James, just by being himself. He ignores that jerkface unless he comes to him first.

"Hmwha? You? I'm just testing out my new time traveling car. My first time travel device was limited to taking me places I need to be, I'm hoping this one can be a bit more specific with the coordinates. Seems to be alright so far." Wally pokes at the dials and completely irrelevant flashing lights on the dashboard with undisguised glee.

"Anyway, I took you to this morning at precisely 7:38 AM. Now I'll just take you back, reward you for your participation in this successful test of my latest stroke of genius and be on my way." Waldorf starts pressing more buttons, deliberately this time. Terry's last chance at fixing this whole mess before it even starts is slipping away with every press!

"Yyyyep, you're a ass."

There's a long moment while Terry considers the possibility of stepping out of the car to fix everything that had happened today. A quick fix; go upstairs, tell herself not to go job hunting until tomorrow, then hitch a ride with Waldorf back to the future. Or, even, not; just do the day over again if Waldorf felt like leaving her here.

The problem is, She's already in this body, she has a date that wouldn't have been set up without all this crap happening, and in the end, she doesn't think something would change properly. The problem is relatively simple; if she wasn't going to go out today, she would have already not gone out and not ended up transforming into some weird incredibly colorful elf-angel thing, and thus still be how she was when she woke up - a good runner, male, and completely normal.

But the fact that she's still in this body means one of two things - either doing so would create a split timeline in which there was one normal Terry and one transformed one, or her warning wouldn't work and the Terry from this timeline would go out anyways, up to and including her not even being able to reach her sleeping self.

The only logical choice, thus, is to simply not play the game.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Take me back, I want to know what that reward is."

"For the portal generator to cool down, idiot. If I tried to go forward now it'd only generate a portal for half the needed time and probably cut the car in half, leaving half of it in the past. Here, just sit tight and have a snack or something." Waldorf crushes the clay figure, dispelling the voodoo spell on Terry and reaches into the glove box, pulling out a Margs bar and dropping it in her lap.

"And I suppose that depends on what you mean by often. Time is relative. I'm performing this same experiment with another twelve people at this very moment, but I won't be doing the next test for another eight months on my own timeline. Actually, I think I've solved the problem now, one moment." Waldorf takes a pocketwatch out of his ear and flips it open as his other hand reaches out to try to grab Terry's arm. If he succeeds, there will be a stomach-lurching flip for a moment before they both arrive four and a half minutes in the future where they need to be, if he fails then he'll simply vanish for the same amount of time and then reappear in the driver's seat.

The window is already open by the time Terry is back in her seat, so she's free to hurl out of it, Waldorf just resumes pressing buttons while remarking, "Please keep the contents of your stomach in the ride in the future, as we're going to the future!" With that he smashes his fist into a big red button and the car revs up, opening a purple portal right in front of it. He slowly steps off the break and nudges the car through the portal, driving responsibly.

And they come out in the same place on the same street, right when Terry had just been kidnapped from her apartment.

"There you go, perfect timing as usual. Now, you get one request for your participation, and I have all the magicky magical magicking magic to fulfill it. Choose wisely or I show you what an ass I can be." Insult the archmage Terry, what a great idea!

terry leans back and considers. Lots of thins she could use, definitely. Money is the obvious one, but that'd only solve the immediate problem, and there's lots of ways to get money. But this guy's an archmage, right?

"A laboratory extension in my apartment connected to my bedroom contained in an extradimensional space. Said laboratory would have the equipment I need to learn to become a mage on my own quickly and efficiently and an extensive spellbook for my use and perusal."

Huh. Worded well, defines exactly what's intended, and is honestly a fairly wise choice. Of course, there's still room for interpretation, but there it is.
