I remember reading an entry for a type of cursed land, a place where everything rots, bubbles and festers. i think it had an image, but i cannot remember where it was located. does anyone know?

Dnd (specifically 3.0 - 3.5).

i specifically remember something about a cursed land or locale, like a festering wound in the land. I seem to remember a full colored image was with the entry, the ground looking like a festering boil or something.

it could have been d20 modern, but i doubt it. i keep thinking it was in 3.0 or 3.5 book. perhaps faerun?

There are so many places that could be -- a level of Hell, somewhere in the Far Realms, somewhere in the Abyss. It could be demiplane like Ravenloft. Was it a homebrew here or in a book?

It could be Malbolge, the 6th Layer of Hell or Malagard, the 7th Layer of Hell. See Fiendish Codex II pages 61-65 and 65-68.

I believe there's also a magic location in the back of the DMG II that might meet that description as well, though I'm away from my books and can't verify it at the moment.

Good call Realms of Chaos. That would be a Terrible Cyst page 248 in DMG II.
