No new posts plz.

Size Large
Monsterous Humanoid (Reptilian)
Large Only 5ft reach.
+2Con, -2Dex
40ft on all four legs 10ft on two Balsanti are quadrupeds.
Darkvision 60ft
+2 Swim Balsanti feet have webing which helps them swim.
+2 Jump Balsanti Have strong hind legs.
+2 Perform (Sing), Balsanti have strong longs that vocal cords, but Balsanti song is rarly vocal and more of a belowing between low and high pitch.
Balsant -2 on any roll or check using there hands when holding weapons or tools.
Two Claw 1d6, the Claws are its primary natural weapon.

Just an Idea Im working on what do you think the LA is and why. I was shoting for +0 but I never see 0 LA on large Humanoids.

Is it a quadruped?

How does that affect its carrying, climbing, & swimming ablities?

I added that it is a quadriped, I should have added that sorry. It normaly gives 1.5 to carrying capacity I think. I don't see why being a quadriped would effect climb or swim in any way, plenty of creatures have that are quadripeds are great climbers and swimer and some are not.

I'd say +1. A little bit of natural armor, reach, and decent natural weapons are worth LA +1. However, the penalty on manufactured weapons and the reduced speed moving on two legs weakens it a little, so it's a little on the weak side. You could safely give it an extra +2 Str or Con, and I think it would still end up LA +1.

It's because of the difference in the swimming strokes. A Biped swims in a different manner than a quadriped. A dog differs from a human for example.

I say +1. Are those two claws treated as two weapons, or one?

I forgot about reach I don't want it to have that kind of reach im going to note that it should be 5. Man I'm getting slopy on these things. I don't see why ever one thinks that NA is so powerful I mean its nice but if its only +1 I like to thing about other abilitys like the halflings +1 to all saves I just see thoughs two as being in the same ball park.

Ok Im taking off the bite I know all these changes will screw my poll some but I want to get this thing right.

Let me ask this if I made this guy medium would you make him LA+1. Because think about it I've take away most of the benifits for him being large, weapon size incress and reach. I've balance one of the penalties the -1 to ac from being large with a +1 to NA. Then I've kept all other down sides and gave relitivly mild other abilities.

I think you could make it LA0 if it was medium.

I'd add a gender difference
A charge feet
A stability bonus if on 4 legs - minus on 2
Does it have a burrow speed?

IIRC being large alone grants +1 NA, +2 str, +2 con and -2 dex
did you take that in to account with the racial mods?

Where on earth are you getting that?

"Large size. -1 penalty to Armor Class, -1 penalty on attack rolls (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/combatStatistics.htm#attackRoll), -4 penalty on Hide (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/hide.htm) checks, +4 bonus on grapple checks (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/specialAttacks.htm#grappleChecks), lifting and carrying limits double those of Medium characters."

Large is +1 LA. I thik it was writen in savage species.

And monstrous humanoid "...are not subject to spells or effects that affect humanoids (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#humanoidType) only, such as charm person (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/charmPerson.htm) or dominate person (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/dominatePerson.htm)."

I think your race is something like LA +2, including the +1NA, but a little underpower for LA +2.

Were are you getting this. I think thoughs are the numbers for incressing a medium creature to large size through advancment.

Also I think I'm going to re-work this race I just read that medium goes up to 8ft, I thought it was only 7ft so that will fit my Idea better. Also there are few other things I want to test for the race. So let this thread drop and I may end up posting a new one.

Thanks for posting.

The fact that it cannot use manufactured weapons and is essentially crippled in terms of movement if it stands on two legs are pretty terrible drawbacks. really, even with the natural armour, I wouldn't give it an LA. Large size gives advantages to grappling, carrying and base damage. But this thing only does 1d6 unarmed damage, and guess what, takes penalties using the more damaging Large weapons. It loses all of the benefits of its size, essentially, since there's no reason for it to carry much because it can't use manufactured items effectively.
I'd give it an LA of +0, but I'd still never, ever use it.

...is there a particular reason you think they can't use weaponry?

I'm working on a new version that will have better explanations of things. So I'll make a new Thread when its done.
