View Full Version : Are we living in the past by about 6 or 7 minutes?

I noticed the board times were behind my laptops clock so I figured it was off. I googled for an accurate clock to fix the clock on my desktop. According to this (http://www.time.gov/) my laptop clock is correct mostly.

I *think* this is accurate. And if so.........why is board time 6 or 7 minutes into the past?

I noticed that.

I'm sure that's accurate. It is for me, except the timzone difference.

Ive noticed it also but I just adjusted my computer clock to fit the board time.

I moved the sun to adjust to board time. No worries now.

Is that legal?

But thanks

It was several minutes slow on the old forums for quite some time. I have a feeling that somewhere someone's clock is slow. I'm going to guess that it's server time.

((Another board that I check is 7 minutes fast. It's kinda odd))

maybe it's a server malfunction.

That's sort of scary.

Me too, it's not like I do anything else in my time.

It's also hard to explain to your boss that the reason you're late is that his watch is not set to "forum time."

Err... How so? It just makes things easier.

I noticed that also, but I blamed my computer because it thinks it's the 24th as well.

It's probably just because of the Time Zones. Even when I set it to my time-zone clock, it's still half an hour slow. So I just don't pay attention unless someones planning an event for the Town.

Even then, I don't pay much attention... :P

Like Amotis was saying... I don't know about you, but I can't run my life by 'board time.'

I think I'm probably on here more than you sometimes so I'd prefer that my computer clock has some relevance to the posting time of people. It got really annoying looking at the posted time, and then my own incorrect clock. It's only 7 damn minutes anyway.

I've got a feeling my computer clock is weird. I set it to it was within a minute of the boards and now I'm almost 3 minutes a head now.

If you have it set to, XP will sometimes try to correct the clock on its own. I dunno if that's just in Professional though..

With all due respect, I think you're on here more than me all the times.

Probably. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, we're definately in the past a bit, though this isn't confirmed, but I think it's getting worse. I was almost positive just a couple weeks ago it was only 3 minutes behind, as I checked a couple of times.

Or it's just me.

I believe Rich did have an a brief issue with his computer clock and board time being wrong. He posted the Discussion thread before the comic came up because the comic is on a timer or something.

Maybe Rich likes to fool people, I never could understand time to well (yes I failed that course in year three) So I just neglect it.

Server time should now be correct to the minute. The problem Rich had with time was a completely different issue, the server is one hour behind his time.

Look, resetting the sun is easy! All you need is a large wooden badger, and...

No, wait. Wrong skit.

It's so simple...

You know, every year the clocks made a one-second error that isn't fix. The only logical explanation is the server are running for 420 years ;).

Leap seconds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leap_second) aren't issued every year. Heck, they aren't even guaranteed to be added rather than subtracted.

Obligatory offset statement: Having just updated my clock, I'm ahead by about 2/3 minutes.

three minutes ahead here.
