The concept is that the ashes of a dead vampire are mixed together with corrupted sand in an evil ritual which resurrects it stronger. This creates a constantly hungry, feral, desert vampire which can transform into intense sandstorms that cause bleed damage as they literally strip flesh from bone.

Things I want:

It is a template that can be added on to the vampire template for +1 LA.

What it does:

Get claws and bite (dmg?) which cause bleed.

Lose gaseous form, get sand-storm form which causes bleed to those inside it.

Sunlight causes it to transform into sand and go dormant instead of destroying it. It returns to normal at night.

Lose ability to transform into wolves/bats, transform into giant scorpion and summon scorpion swarms.

Alignment shift to chaotic evil.

Anything else you think appropriate?

Sand Vampire

This is an acquired Template that can be added to any existing vampire, vampire lord or monstrous vampire.

HD: As base creature

Speed: As base creature. A sand vampire gains a burrow speed equal to half its land speed. If the base creature has a better burrow speed, use that instead.

AC: A sand vampire's natural AC increases by +2.

Attacks: As base creature. A sand vampire's natural attacks all cause 1 additional point of bleed damage.

Special Attacks: As base creature except as noted.

Create Sandstorm (Su): Three times a day as a standard action, a sand vampire can create a sandstorm lasting 1d4 hours. A sandstorm reduces visibility to 1d105 feet and provides a -4 penalty on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. A sandstorm deals 1d3 points of nonlethal damage per hour to any creatures caught in the open, and leaves a thin coating of sand in its wake. Driving sand creeps in through all but the most secure seals and seams, to chafe skin and contaminate carried gear.

Children of the Night (Su): A sand vampire can only summon scorpions, swarm of scorpions, and giant scorpions.

Turn to Sand (Sp); As turn flesh to salt spell (Sandstorm).

Which vampire abilities are you willing to give up in order to have LA+1
