Proxidicae

Some share a cause, others are related by blood, many attempt to forge a union of love or have a deep abiding friendship. All these relationships fall somewhat short of the proxidicae, beings whoes very souls have bonded at the most basic spiritual levels. It is almost as if they share the same soul, despite having different bodies and minds. They know one another as they know themselves, and live as one.

Many proxidicae are in fact related, sometimes from an unusual multitude of simultaneous births such as triplets and quadruplets. Others are drawn together seemingly at random, as if their very beings were all striving to meet. Whatever the reason, it becomes a union that is measured beyond friendship and beyond family.

Proxidicae are always found in groups of at least three, though rarely more than a dozen, and will not willingly venture far from the others. Different proxidicae groups often vary considerably, each group sharing their own unique spiritual bond that has no relation with one another other than devotion to their brethren.

The only real difference once can tell about a proxidicae is their eyes which literally glow with the blue-tinged light of soulful energy that the combined creatures share amongst themselves. Upon removal from its brethren a proxidicae's eyes quickly become dull and listless.

Those unfortunate enough to do battle against proxidicae quickly discover its generally better to incapacitate, as a death amongst their number only seems to strengthen the survivors. Once unable to put up a fight the cruelest but most surefire way to be rid of a proxidicae is to seperate them from one another. They then slump into a deep depression, losing all will to live.

The Fell Five are said to have all hatched from the same monsterous egg that nearly killed the mother in its laying. As they hatched they reared up their heads and called hungrily in a single voice. Ever since they have been inseperable, guarding the tree-tops and mountain passes fiercely with group tactics of incredible skill and finesse.

Combat
The Fell Five fight in an endless storm of flashing talons and wings, swarming about their opponent one after the other until there is little left to fight. If this proves ineffective they all gang up upon it, grasping with their talons and flying high into the sky to drop their prey to their deaths below. Even the mightiest giants have found themselves unable to resist their collective strength.

Attack As One (Ex): If a proxidicae eyrie uses the aid another action to assist another member's attack roll in combat, it grants a +4 bonus on its ally's next roll instead of the usual +2. If any member of the proxidicae enters a grapple, each other member can use the aid another action to grant it a +2 bonus grapple checks to pin the opponent. Often two or three members enter a grapple, with the remainder aiding their companions.

Evasion (Ex): With a successful Reflex save against an attack that allows a Reflex save for half damage, a giant eagle takes no damage.

Group Mind (Ex): As long as a proxidicae eyrie's individuals are within 50 feet of one another, all its members share a group consciousness. If one is aware of a particular danger, they all are. If one in the pack is not flat-footed, none of them are.
The group mind operates through their spiritual connection. As long as the proxidicae remain within range, they all enjoy the benefits of Alertness. They can communicate empathically with one another, as well as with a sentient being within range, much as a familiar does with its master.
If a proxidicae individual is farther than 50 feet from the others it takes 1 point of Charisma damage per round. This damage is instantly reversed upon rejoining at least one of the others. If all other proxidicae die besides one, it does not take damage, the spiritual multitude of its brethren giving it comfort.

Share the Field (Ex): The proxidicae eyrie can occupy the same space in combat with any other proxidicae of its group at no penalty. When a proxidicae engages a creature more than one size larger in melee, and at least one other proxidicae threatens the target, they gain a +1 morale bonus on the attack roll. This bonus increases by +1 for each additional proxidicae beyond the first that threatens the same target.

Soulmates (Ex): The soul of the proxidicae eyrie are intimately bound at the spiritual level. Death affects and those dealing with souls are confused by this and do not affect the proxidicae if their numbers exceed the number of targets the spell may be directed at. For instance, a Magic Jar spell may only be cast on one person at a time, thus the proxidicae are immune.
As well, if one proxidicae is killed its body and spirit disolves and melds with those of its brethren. Its hit dice are spread equally with every other living proxidicae. The recipients of any extra hit dice left over are chosen by the proxidicae. These extra hit dice may advance a creature past what it normally would be able, as well as possibly increasing their size. If these hit dice come from class levels, each individual is considered to have gained a level in the class. Only spells or powers of their new class level that their brethren knew may be used, but is limited to their class level as usual.
As long as at least one of the proxidicae eyrie survive none can be raised or ressurected, as it has not truley died, but divided itself amongst the living.

Skills: Giant eagles have a +4 racial bonus on Spot checks.

Creating a Proxidicae
"Proxidicae" is an inherited template that can be added to any aberration, animal, dragon, fey, giant, humanoid, magical beast, monsterous humanoid, or non-soulless undead with an intelligence score, hereafter referred to as the base creature.
Size and Type: The creature’s type does not change, unless it is an animal (in which case it becomes a Magical Beast [augmented animal]). A proxidicae gains the incarnum subtype.
Armor Class: A proxidicae gains a +1 insight bonus per member of its group, besides itself, within 50 feet.
Special Attacks: A proxidicae retains all attacks of the base creature plus the following attacks.

Share Powers (Su): A proxidicae can have any spell or power also affect others of the group. The others must be within 5 feet at the time of the casting or manifestation to receive the benefit. If the spell or power has a duration other than instantaneous, it stops affecting the others if they move farther than 5 feet away, and will not affect the other again, even if it returns before the duration expires.
Additionally, the proxidicae can cast or manifest a spell or power with a target of “You” on others in the group (as a touch range power) instead of on itself.

I'm thinking of the movie The One.

A BBEG group of these where they all reach level 20 and then 4 of them suicide leaving 1 with 20 levels in 5 different calsses. Cleric, Druid, Wizard, Psion, and something else.
