I am using a homebrew system to DM a Persona game on the forum, and I decided to post the system here, to see if playground has some suggestions to make the system better. This is just the basics, I will add more when I get the time.

Every action is resolved with a simple d20. After applying any bonuses and penalties the end result is compared to the values of the particular skill. Here's an example to demonstrate how it works. Agi is a skill that deals fire damage. The base values for Agi are:
2- Miss
3-17 Hit 5
18+ Critical 7

If your final result is 2 or less your attack missed. If it is 18 or more you score a critical hit and deal 7 damage. If the result is between 3 and 17 you deal 5 damage.

Actions:
Every character gets two actions every turn.
One is a standard action. Using a skill is a standard action.
The other is minor action. Changing your row, intercepting and recovering SP are minor actions.
A standard action can be exchanged for a minor action.

Rows, intercepting and countering
When combat starts characters are divided in two rows-front and back. When a character is attacked an ally can use his minor action to intercept the attack. This effectively switches the target, and the ally who is intercepting takes the attack. Front row characters can intercept any attack, but back row characters can only intercept attacks aimed at an ally in the back row.
When a character intercepts an attack he can use his next standard action to perform a counter attack. The counter attack must target the intercepted enemy and must be a single target attack.

There are no classes in this game, instead every character picks one of the four archetypes:Striker, Caster, Healer or Controller.
Strikers specialize in using physical attacks. They have the highest HP and physical damage reduction, so they are best suited for the front row.
Casters specialize in using elemental attacks. Elemental attacks have a slightly lower damage, but almost every enemy is weak to at least one elemental. They have the lowest HP, so they are best suited for back row. They have a bonus to elemental damage they inflict.
Healers specialize in healing and buffs. They have the lowest HP, so they are best suited for for back row. They have a bonus to status effect resistance.
Controllers specialize in status effects and debuffs. They have medium HP, so they are suited for both front and back row. They have bonus to elemental damage reduction.

I like the idea of the minor actions. Have you thought about allowing someone to spend a standard action to take an extra minor action? Like a player spending his entire turn regaining SP twice.

It's already standard in D&D, I just forgot to mention it.:smallwink:

Been a real long time since I've played D&D. Though most systems I know allow one to spend a Standard as any one of the minor, so I should've guessed as much.
