The haggi is the product of complicated breeding by harpies and hags sharing territory. Both monsters require the assistance of humanoids to produce, yet the result of most pregnancies by human fathers resulted in ordinary hags or harpies. Something unusual happened when an annis bred with the champion of a clan of orcs that occupied her territory and defended her covey: a mutation, a male halfbreed larger and stronger than an orc, called a wretch. (Refer to Bastards and Bloodlines)

After learning of the halfbreed, the eldest members of several coveys and flights met in a neutral ground to study the wretch. In the end, the matron of one of the harpy flights bred with the wretch, and the result of the joining was the haggi.

Haggi are tall and grey-skinned creatures with slightly hunched backs and strong, sinewy muscle, reaching seven feet on average and weighing around 250 pounds. Their eyes are often red, and they possess thick black hair and lupine features. The most alarming features are the formidable claws protruding from the haggi's hands and feet, and leathery wings.

Haggi reproduce quickly and age at about the same rate as an orc; allied hags and harpies often use haggi as enforcers, hunters and bodyguards, and sometimes must cull groups of haggi in their service so that their population does not spiral out of control.

Combat
Haggi are vicious and aggressive creatures, causing disarray by confusing enemies and then lashing and kicking with both their hands and feet. When a haggi manages to dig its claws into an opponent and establish a hold, they tend to take flight so they may drop their enemies to the ground from great height.

Improved Grab (Ex)
To use this ability, a haggi must hit a Medium or smaller opponent with a claw attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity.

Spell-like Abilities
3/day—confusion, lesser. Caster level 5th.
