I am building my friends new character and he decided on a character ripped off Hinata Hyuga of the Naruto Series. Starting level will be twelve. I am deciding if it is either a Rog1/Swordsage11 or Monk1/Swordsage11. Hinata's Eight Trigrams of Sixty Four Palms will be emulated by Diamond Mind's Avalanche of Blades and Time Stands Still; while Protection of the Eight rigrams will be Pearl of Black Doubt.

The multiclassing is to place her spot ceiling to 3+character level. This will net her the skill tricks Point it Out, Spot the Weak Point and Clarity of Vision emulating Byakugan.

If she goes Rog1 she gets sneak attack and trapfinding(also one of Hinata's abilities), but she will be limited to using a shortsword at best or taking improved unarmed strike as a feat.

If she goes Monk 1(Sleeping Tiger Fighting Style in Unearthed Arcana) she gets Weapon Finesse for free and unarmed strike.

Next question would pertain to Race.

Flavorwise, strong heart halfling seems awesome, making the Hinata rip-off some sort of perpetual child, but she loses out on mobility but gains a bonus feat in the process, always juicy.

Or she could go Sun Elf, which will allow her to qualify for eternal blade, easy. Guided strike also mirrors more features of Byakugan.

Feats will include: Weapon Finesse(possibly free), Skill Focus(spot), Skill Focus(Concentration), Wepon Focus(unarmed strike)(free), Blade Meditation(Diamond Mind), ShadowBlade)

Stats are 17, 16, 14, 14, 13, 12 plus the three ability increases at the multiples of Four. Sun Elf 12, 20, 12, 16, 18, 12; Strongheart Halfling 12, 20, 14, 14, 18, 12.

Always I am thankful for your help. I love these boards.

so do you plan on giving her a sword? cause that seems very un-Hinata like to me. Then again, any kind of weapon other than the kunai is rare in Naruto's world. But in the dnd world wielding a smaller weapon than possible is almost never a good idea, right?

Hinata's Gentle Fist technique requires Improved Unarmed strike. A kunai is still a dagger right?

There's a site on the wizards forums that has a psionics based build for most of the characters. I know they have a Neji build. So... you might be able to get some ideas from that.

OK, so correct me if I'm wrong, but Hinata should have 360 degree sight of some sort, and lot's of cool Stunning or disabling abilities. Knowing this, I suggest:

Monk 2/Cleric 4/Sacred Fist X would give you Blindsense when you hit Sacred Fist 5, and and Cleric domains and spells that could mimic her other cool abilities.

Monk 6/Disciple of the Eye (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060106a&page=2) 5 would give you Darkvision 120 and Blindsense 30, and the ability to instill Fear every time you hit someone (remember, Fear effects stacks) which could be roleplayed as blocking off chakra. You'll have to take the Dragonblooded feat (or be a Kobold or Dragonborn), but I think a heritage feat of some sort is very appropriate for her. DotE also stacks with your Monk levels for Flurry of Blows, which is almost unheard of, and far more powerful then stacking for unarmed damage.

You could go Psychic Warrior X or Psychic Warrior/Monk/Psionic Fist, and use the Expaned Knowledge feat to get access to Touchsight (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicPowersQtoW.html#touchsight).

For feats:

Touch of Golden Ice (Book of Exalted Deeds) Evil creatures must save or take Dex damage on EVERY successful unarmed attack. Sadly, the DC never changes, so its much less useful at higher levels. But still very potent.

Freezing the Lifeblood (Comp Warrior) paralyzes for 1d4+1 rounds enemy instead of just stunning them for 1 when you use Stunning Fist. Make sure to carry a pick for the inevitable Coup de Graces.

Knock-Down (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/divineFeats.html): Free Trip attack whenever you deal 10+ points of damage on a hit (buy a Monk's belt and Str boosting items if need be to make sure your unarmed damage is high enough).

Try the Swordsage unarmed strike variant.

Swordsages don't get improved unarmed strike free. Hence the multiclassing. Diamond Mind Swordsage emulates Trigram of sixty four palms with avalanche of blades and Gentle Fist with Insightful Strike and Improved Insightful Strike.

I am not DM, I am a player helping another another player with his character. Making class modifications is not within my scope. *shrug*

Under adaptations in the Book of the Nine Swords it says that a Swordsage can be given the monk's unarmed strike progression in exchange for the loss of light armor proficiency.

I'd say the build pretty much requires 3 levels of Kensai, so she can put wounding on her fist ... ability damage most closely matches the gentle fist techniques, and wounding is the only real way to get ability damage which will scale with the number of attacks which connect.

Link..... I posted above, tell what you think.
Hyuga Hinata - Human Psychic Rogue 20

Feats:
Combat Expertise (1), Up the Walls (Human), Mental Leap (3), Expanded Knowledge: Dissipating Touch (6), Expanded Knowledge: Energy Push (9), Improved Feint (12), Expanded Knowledge: Touchsight (15), Expanded Knowledge: Energy Wall (18)

Powers:
1st - Dissipating Touch, Elfsight
2nd - Energy Push
3rd - Energy Wall, Touchsight, Ubiquitous Vision
4th - Steadfast Perception

Hinata's Signature Abilities:
Jyuuken Taijutsu – Gentle Fist Martial Arts: Like her cousin Neji, Hinata uses a form of hand to hand combat that damages the enemy's internal organs by projecting chakra into them from her hands. This ability is approximated by Dissipating Touch. Sneak attack damage added onto Dissipating Touch (which, as a weaponlike power, qualifies) represents the results of Hinata's training. Since she lacks Neji's talent and raw ability (see the Neji build's Wild Surge, he also has more pp), Hinata has had to train for chakra control and place her Jyuuken attacks more carefully (note the Improved Feint feat).

Byakugan - White Eyes: As daughter of the Hyuuga clan's leader, Hinata has also inherited the clan's bloodline limit. Able to see objects as small as insects in all directions and immune to visual genjutsu, Hinata's Byakugan is a powerful asset that she has used to focus on enemy location and scouting (like her other teammates in Kurenai's Team 7). This is represented by the powers Elfsight, Touchsight, Ubiquitous Vision, and Steadfast Perception. (I chose Steadfast Perception over Psionic True Seeing out of personal preference; PTS is on the Psychic Rogue list and can be taken).
In addition, in episode 149 Hyuuga seems to have developed good use of the Byakugan for finding small objects, represented by use of the Search skill (a class skill), and she has proven hard to catch off guard even without her Byakugan fully active, approximated by the Danger Sense class feature of the Psychic Rogue.

Shugohakke Rokujyuu Yonshou - Guardian of the Eight Divination Seals 64 Strikes: Hinata's ultimate defense and attack is to perform Jyuuken strikes in all directions so fast any attack is parried as though broken upon an invisible wall. This is represented by the power Energy Wall. At its most powerful, the Shugohakke Rokujyuu Yonshou can force enemies away with the force of Hinata's chakra. This is represented by combining the power Energy Push with Energy Wall. Nicknamed the Dominova by boardgoers here, the trick is to set up several Energy Walls (which Hinata seemed to have spent most of episode 151 doing), and then once a foe charges through them to attack you, smack them right back through with a readied Energy Push. While the final use of the technique in episode 151 was obviously lightning element, earlier scenes of Hinata's training (where she formed barriers out of water and shattered kunai and shuriken thrown at her) indicated that she had proficiency with the cold and sonic elements too.

Nice write up, but I still say ability damage represents the gentle fist techniques much better than plain damage. In the psionic case it can be achieved with the Strength of My Enemy power.

Hmm, good point, I'll rebuild her as a lurk later, Mental Assualt and power drain for tenketsu striking.....Problery going to look along the lines of this, only far less crumblesome.
"Lurk Version
Hyuuga Neji - Human Lurk* 20

* - Complete Psionic

Feats:
Linked Power (1)*, Psicrystal Affinity (Human), Psicrystal Containment (Flaw), Delay Power (3), Expanded Knowledge (Dissipating Touch) (6), Psionic Meditaton (9), Twin Power (12), Expanded Knowledge (Synchronicity) (15), Metapower (Twin Power/Dissipating Touch)* (18)

* - Complete Psionic

Flaws:
Shaky - Neji is a close combat specialist, as such his ranged attacks suffer slightly due to a lack of training.

Powers:
1st - Synchronicity*, Dissipating Touch, Mighty Spring*, Skate
2nd - Body Equilibrium, Evade Attack*, Hustle
3rd - Danger Sense, Evade Burst, Mental Barrier, Touchsight, Ubiquitous Vision
5th - True Seeing
6th - Contingency

* - Complete Psionic (Synchronicity can also be found in Races of Destiny)

Neji's Signature Abilities:
Jyuuken Taijutsu – Gentle Fist Martial Arts: Neji uses a form of hand to hand combat that damages the internal organs of his foes by projecting chakra from his hands into his opponent. This ability is approximated by Dissipating Touch. In addition, Neji's mastery of Jyuuken is such that he can manipulate the flow of his opponents chakra to induce a number of effects including paralysis (using the lurk augment Stunning Attack), chakra drain (Lurk Augment: Drain Power, or Greater Drain Power), disabling the foes ability to mold chakra (Mental Assault on a casting stat or Synaptic Disconnect)

Byakugan – White Eyes: Neji’s bloodline limit as a member of the Hyuuga clan is the all seeing Byakugan, an eye technique that allows Neji basically unlimited power of perception. In the series Neji has used this ability to see in a 360 degree arc, determine the whereabouts of invisible and concealed opponents, detect illusions, determine chakra flow in his opponents, and see for miles in all directions. This ability is approximated by Touchsight, Ubiquitous Vision, and Psionic True Seeing

Hakkeshou Kaiten – Heaven Spin: Neji’s primary defensive technique, he spins like a top and releases chakra around him, using it to parry incoming attacks. The ability is approximated by Mental Barrier.

Jyuukenhou Hakke Ryokojuu Yonshou – Divination Field 64 strikes: Neji’s penultimate offensive technique, he accelerates his Jyuuken attacks, beginning with 2 strikes, and doubling each time until reaching 64 strikes. This is emulated under the assumption that each d6 of damage dealt by dissipating touch in this attack form represents one strike. The following round by round secquence is used to perform this attack (thanks to RT for coming up with most of this sequence):

Round 1 - "Jyuukenpou: Hakke Rokujyuu Yonshou!"
Swift: Manifest a delayed hustle (for round 4) : 5 pp, 1/2 focus
Move: Refocus, 2/2 focus
Standard: Feint in combat

Round 2 - "2 strikes! 4 strikes! 8 strikes!" 5 pp spent so far
Swift action - Lurk Augment: Stunning Attack, Greater Power Drain
Standard: Manifest 10 pp DT (10d6+4d6 SA = 14d6 [2 + 4 + 8]): 10 pp (GPD provides an average of 49 pp for use next round)

Round 3 - "16 strikes!" 15 pp spent so far (49 power points for use this round)
Swift action - Lurk Augment: Stunning Attack, Greater Power Drain
Standard: Manifest 12 pp DT (16d6 total) linked to a synchronicity : 13 pp (GPD provides an average of 56 pp for next round), 1/2 focus
Move: Refocus, 2/2 focus

Round 4 - "32 strikes!" 28/15 pp spent so far (56 power points for use this round)
Swift action - Lurk Augment: Stunning Attack, Greater Power Drain
Linked Synchronicity: manifest 12 pp DT (16d6 damage) linked to a Synchronicity : 13 pp, 1/2 focus (GPD provides an average of 56 pp for next round)
Standard: Manifest 12 pp DT (16d6 damage) linked to a Synchronicity 13 pp, 0/2 focus
Delayed Hustle from round 1: Refocus, 1/2 focus
Move: Refocus, 2/2 focus

Round 5 - "64 strikes!" 54/15 pp spent so far (56 pp to use this round) (ending version)
Linked Synchronicity 1: manifest twinned 8 pp DT (24d6 total) : 12 pp, 1/2 focus
Linked Synchronicity 2: manifest twinned 8 pp DT (24d6 total) : 12 pp, 0/2 focus
Standard: Manifest 12 pp DT (16d6 total) : 12 pp

For entire routine, only up to 64 strikes, the cost is 90 pp however 75 points of that are provided for by greater power drain assuming the opponent has sufficient power points to be drained. This process also causes the enemy to lose 161 power points.
For the 128-strike routine, follow the above for rounds 1 to 4.

Round 5 - "64 strikes!" 54/15 pp spent so far
Swift action - Lurk Augment: Stunning Attack and Greater Power Drain
Linked Synchronicity 1: manifest twinned 12 pp DT (32d6 total) : 16 pp, 1/2 focus (56 average pp provided for next round)
Move: refocus, 2/2 focus
Linked Synchronicity 2: manifest 12 pp DT (16d6 total) linked to a synchronicity : 13 pp, 1/2 focus
Manifest 12 pp DT (16d6 total) linked to a synchronicity: 13 pp, 0/2 focus
Free: trigger contingent twinned hustle linked to a synchronicity, 2/2 focus

Round 6 - "Hakke Hyaku Nijuuhashou!" 96/15 pp spent so far (56 pp average provided for this round)
Linked Synchronicity 1: manifest twinned 16 pp DT (16d6+4d6 SA= 20d6, x2=40d6) : 20 pp, 1/2 focus
Linked Synchronicity 2: manifest twinned 16 pp DT (40d6) : 20 pp, 0/2 focus
Move: refocus, 1/2 focus
Linked Synchronicity 3: manifest twinned 16 pp DT (40d6) : 20 pp, 0/2 focus
Standard: manifest 4 pp DT (4d6 + 4d6 SA = 8d6) : 4 pp

Total power point expenditure against a non-psionic foe: 160 power points (Neji would require 18 intelligence to have this many power points in a day)
Minimum Potential Power Point Expenditure against a powerful psionic foe: 15 power points

This attack routine causes a total of 254d6 points of damage over 6 rounds and eliminates on average 217 power points from the opponent (minimum 62, maximum 372).

Other Stuff
The remaining powers in Neji's Lurk Build augment his quickness and uncanny ability to evade attacks and jutsu of all varieties on the field, and provide the basic ninja skills that we didn't have room to put in the feats section (skate vs speed of thought, mighty spring in place of mental leap, body equilibrium for walking on water etc)."
