This Mythos class is my take on the priestly/divine role. It's barely even begun but I figure that I should start it just to keep myself from forgetting to make it. So I present to you the Thaumaturge, the Mythic Priest and Prophet. One of my ideas is to include mutually exclusive paths for this class.

The Thaumaturgos

"Latter day versions of the vile plagues that rained on Egypt, the fires that consumed Soddom and Gomorrah. Scourges of the old testament, yes, but even now, brothers and sisters, even now drought and pestilance fester in the very heart of this great land. Titanic sandstorms, the likes of which man has not seen since the days of the prophets… And I ask myself, "What are these things? What are they, if not evidence of God's fury? What are they, if not harbingers of the apocalypse?" And yet… and yet, as I walked to church today, these troubled thoughts were soothed by a balmy wind. And as I looked out upon the endless acres of rich, untilled earth, I realised, brothers and sisters, that this is truly the promised land and that we are indeed blessed. But let us not forget the less fortunate. Let us not forget that they too were once blessed. And let us not forget that the lord giveth, and the lord taketh away. Amen." ~ Brother Justin Crowe, Carnivāle

What I'd like to do with this class is to offer a set of choices which shape the Thaumaturgos' growth. For example, their are going to be Exceptional Mythos that conflict with each other to the point that they are incompatible. You can take one Mythos or the other but not both. A Thaumaturgos can have a congregation of followers along the lines of Penitents Like Scattered Grains or be a lone prophet welcome in most every village and city they happen upon. In addition a member of this class can choose one of three ways (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=16946720&postcount=308) to empower his or her healing miracles at 1st level. No, you can't change or retrain this path. Any ideas on doing this?

A couple things right off the bat: Would you mind explaining who your iconic characters are? I don't know if we heard about all of them.

Also, you might be able to bump up the skill points and add more class skills. Xefas once said that he believed that the baseline for skill points should be 6, and that the Teramach only got 4 because it's... well... not smart. Not a criticism, just a suggestion.

As to the different healing paths... It looks like only the bottom one has actual mechanics one way or the other; the former two sound more like fluff, as you could just say you have the herbs (who keeps track of material components anyway), and drawing life from the land doesn't have to affect things that matter. Could you be more specific as to what you want each to do?

No I would not suggest this as it would severely limit them vs. the other mythos classes. Instead make them specialists but be able to dabble with the others. An example would be if he would choose healing as his specialty he could immediately select those mythos at level one and respectively at each level listed. However he could select another to start at exceptional when he would get his Fantastic Mythos for healing. At this point depending on how much material you would have for each path you could continue(less material) like so or choose to forsake one all together(more material).

Here's a list of what the Mythos banner iconics are shown to do.

Gandalf - emboldens others through his sheer presence, power to undo the unnatural mental influence of others, telepathy, smiting fell spirits (such as the Balrog of Durin's Bane), pyrotechnics (possibly due to Narya), speaking with moths and eagles, repelling fell spirits (the Nine Riders on Weathertop), assisting Elrond in flooding the Nazgul and supernatually aided judgement, minor telekenisis and control over light

Aerith Gainsborough - ability to commune with the planet, healing the sick and injured, channeling her healing power through the wind and rain, rending she and her allies temporarily invincible, unleashing a pulse of raw life energy that mends the wounds and restores the mystical power of her allies while renewing herself, mystically freezing others in time and sensing the well being of those closest to her and temporarily empowering her allies along with general magical abilities

Misty Day - resurrection, healing, mind control, pyrokenesis, telekenesis, skill with healing herbs, aura reading/sensing "vibes", minor ESP and psychically freezing others

Brother Justin Crowe - life force manipulation, spirit healing, telekinesis, telepathy, bestowing powers unto his followers but at a price, astral projection, weather control, mind control, creating illusions and great personal magnetism

Jesse Turner - concious and unconcious reality warping including forceable transformation of others, telekensis, can cause minor earthquakes by clenching his fists, teleportation, excorcism without ritual and the power to shield his presence from angels and demons alike

Adam Young - weather and climate control, ley-line twisting, power to instil general goodwill in others, major but uncontroled reality warping including raising Atlantis and replacing one or more objects or entities for another object or entity of his choice

John Coffey - healing injuries, curing terminal illnesses and painful infections, possession, extending life in others and sensing the former presence of the long dead

Dr. Byron Orpheus - mind control, memory alteration, pyrokinesis, resurrection, astral projection, illusion creation, telekinesis, minor teleportation (Doc still needs to drive his car), some shapeshifting, invisibility and short range "smiting" ectoplasmic blasts

I don't what they do so much as who they are and why you chose them. I mean I only recognize Aerith, Dr. Orpheus, and Gandalf.

Brother Justin Crowe (http://carnivale.wikia.com/wiki/Brother_Justin_Crowe) (HBO's Carnivale): Born Alexsei Belyakov, Brother Justin was the main villain of HBO's Carnivale. He's a Methodist minister who recieved apocolyptic visions through out his adult life. This convinced him that God appointed him to prepare for the End Times. To this end, Brother Justin has assembled a congregation he calls the New Canaan Church. For the longest time Reverend Crowe saw himself as a truthful, if very flawed, man of God. Then he went mad after learning that his beloved sister Iris had set fire to the orphanage he and his congregation built killing all the children inside. After his stay in a sanitarium Justin learned of his true nature, that he was an Avatauric Creature of Darkness. He then grew to revel in his destiny as a Creature of Darkness, using his powers to control and dominate his flock. Bottom row, number three.

Misty Day (http://americanhorrorstory.wikia.com/wiki/Misty_Day) (FX's American Horror Story: Coven): Louisiana witch who loves God, animals, Stevie Nicks and her swamp. To be completed. Bottom row, number one.

Adam Young (http://goodomenslexicon.org/articles/adam-young/) (Terry Pratchett's and Neil Gaiman's Good Omens): Your basic friendly neighborhood anti-Christ. To be completed. Top row, number four.

Jesse Turner (http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=Jesse_Turner) (CW's Supernatural): See Adam Young. To be completed. Top row, number three.

John Coffey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Green_Mile_(film)) (Steven King's Green Mile): Innocent man on death row with miraculous powers To be completed. Top row number two.
