My new favorite race, definitely!

Aren't they all really superfluous, though?

Yeah, but name your 10 favorite things that you own (for example). I'd bet plenty of those are superfluous.

I don't think the comic really needs them, to be honest.

I think that joke was a bit overdone. I mean it out did it carrying on naming all the groups of elves, each with their own catchphrase...

Now if it was followed up with an ironic dead horse gag, that would have been funny.

Quoted for truth irony.

You win this round, Zafuel. Your cookie is waiting for you in the lobby.

Superfluous elves have entered my lexicon without me even trying. Yesterday I told my friend she was whining like a superfluous elf, and then had to get her addicted to erfworld to explain the joke.

Exactly, everyone can say the Superflous elves aren't needed because they are. And I love them for it.

Still, with Parson on the match, mebbe things will work out for them.

Useless? :)

I disagree, I think they are incredibly necessary to this comic's survival. :p

Really, though...I like how that whole scene poked fun at how many fantasy-things have ludicrous variations on elves (I remember EQ as being a particular offender). The superfluous elves were the cap on that whole joke :p

Unless, of course, there's also a race of "gratuitous" or "extraneous" elves. :smalltongue:

I like them, even if their name suggests they exceed need.

Cobra_Ikari

...hmm...exceed need, or are exceedingly needy? Most of the people I know who resemble the superfluous elves fall into the second category...

I sorta envision the superfluous elves as the homebrew elf subrace created by the person who wanted to be an elf, but couldn't find the ability score combination they wanted in the default elves, the grey elves, the high elves, the sun elves, the moon elves, the wood elves, the wild elves, the sea elves, the night elves, the dark elves, the winged elves, or the blood elves. In the end, the result is pretty much the same as all the other subraces, hence the superfluous elves.

I want to prefer the Schlemiel Elves, but I think it's bad luck.
By the way, wouldn't one think that war is beneath the Lofty Elves?

No, you're thinking of the Elitist Elves.

There are no Elitist Elves. They wouldn't be caught dead in a comic like Erfworld.

Did you find the Outsourced Elves cheaper, with no loss of quality?

And how did they compare to the Offshored Elves in Valinor?

I do note that the Tardy Elves haven't shown up yet. But it'll be the Absent Elves who don't make it in at all.

He just better hope those Redundant Elves weren't a part of the Organized Elves or he's in for a world of trouble.

There'll be Toomanyelves elves next....

Of course, the Toomanyelves elves aren't needed, and the Superfluous elves number too greatly....

I think the Toomanyelves will remain a subrace of the aptly named Notappearinginthiscomic Elves.

It's tough times, you know. It's hard for even the Professional Elves to keep their jobs, and many of them have also had to resort to moonlighting on the North Pole to make the ends meet.

Hmm...not many jobs involve mounting poles at night...so I'd expect that the Professional Elves identify themselves as "pros" when responding to personal ads. ;)

Final Comic Scene: Erfworld has been reduced to a desolate wasteland by the actions of Stanley, guided by Parson. All is lost.
"Hey guys, we just got here! Sorry 'bout the delay, Derek had to stop in the bushes..."
"Guys?"

Now if I had a second job involving hanging around poles at night, I probably wouldn't be advertising it to a potential romantic encounter... :smalleek:

...unless "romantic encounters" *cough* were your second job. :smallwink:

My joke was maybe a bit too obscure. Every now and then I'll read a comment from some guy about how in some place or another, all of the responses to his personal ad were professional escorts (or even prostitutes) expecting to get paid.
