So, after a long talk with one of my players where we were discussing stuff we disliked about the Core Paladin, we settled on a few things we absolutely hated about their image in 3.5.

The majority of what we believe what a Paladin should be, is more along the lines of medieval Knights, or Champions of ________. Not just some Lawful Good derp who is so pidgeon-holed into how theyre supposed to act, theyre often times completely ignored because of peoples ideas of "Lawful Stupid" or players who take the Code of Conduct WAY to seriously.

So, I took a few hours of my day and completely rewrote the Paladin to be less of a "Lawful Stupid Warrior" or more of a "Cause Driven Champion"

Constructive criticism is welcome, however please keep it civil, I realise there is potential for the class to be a little OP, but compared to what they are, I believe theyre no worse than the other T3 Melee classes.

And yes, they are a Gish base class, but their spells are so limited and specific, I dont see anyone completely breaking the game since the Spell lists are so focused.

This is not the forum for homebrew, Caps Lock or no Caps Lock. You want this one (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15).

Worth noting there's a lot of homebrew pallies out there. There's one in my Sig and when I'm not on a phone I'll link some other highly recommended ones

I was gonna go into a rage when I saw cleric casting, but then I realized they only get to cast domain spells.

It's okay, I guess, but from your description I expected something more. I guess I got spoiled by the good life paladins enjoy under my rules.

So... this paladin prepares spells up to 9th level, but maxes out at 2 spells known/level. (At level 11). Beyond that... some little bonus feats, a half-hearted attempt at a decent Will save... are you sure that isn't a cleric fix?

In any case, two domains is pathetically tiny. (Tier wise... eh, you probably fluctuate between 3 and 5, depending on how good a domain you choose, with almost all tending towards the low tiers). I'd either flesh it out with a list of spells all "paladins" have access to, or grant access to a bunch more domains. And... maybe call it a cleric fix, given the lack of all classic paladin abilities (Smite, Lay on Hands, Divine Grace, Mount), in return for devotion to a deity (Domains)?

Take a look at the Pathfinder paladin (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/classes/paladin.html#_paladin). I am very happy with it, as are my two paladin players.
If you want a discussion of paladin fluff - codes of conduct, backgrounds and religion etc., read "The Complete Paladin's Handbook".

the PF paladin is garbage. it has a 7" Step above the floor of vanilla but its ceiling is so low as to not allow any room for growth.

the material i linked was done so because it provides examples of thoroughly researched commentary and revision of the paladin.

Guess we have different opionions about what 'garbage' means.
