I have a D&D Insider subscription, but cannot locate the log in screen or the charater generator. I hope they didn't get rid of it as I still had a few 4e characters on it. I also loved the way it made sheets containing the powers each character had (including bonuses to rolls). Is it still around? Will it be able to make 5e characters?

...most importantly, anyone have links to the Char gen. page?

I don't have a direct link to the Character Builder itself, but I found where the main D&DI page got moved to -- http://archive.wizards.com/dnd/tools.aspx -- and you can sign in in the top right corner and click a button for the Character Builder. That tool doesn't seem to have a 5e option. Since part of the web address says "archive", if WotC puts up a CB for 5e, it'll almost certainly be in some other part of the site.

Looks like the 3.5 archive is gone though. Hopefully I have copies of all of the data I referred to on that.web enhancements and other tools, but I guess there's no way to be sure.

Per Mearl's twitter, you can also get there via dndinsider.com

Isn't everything stored ... Err cache or something like that?

You can probably google it.

I have bookmarks for dozens of 3.5 classes, previews, articles, etc on the WotC website, and still use and refer to them from time to time. It literally costs almost nothing to house a bunch of already made simple url files on your server. I understand burying them in a sub-menu somewhere, since you're trying to promote your new edition. But just taking them all down with no announcement beforehand is just a tremendous jerk move.

Just went on and confirmed this.

WOW THAT SUCKS!

I still play 3.5 very often and I use a lot of that content, especially stuff from The Mind's Eye. Wow, that really blows. Unless they moved all the content to different URLs, that stuff is now gone, gone, gone.

There's more information and some solutions in another GitP thread over here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?364374-TRAGEDY-HAS-STRUCK!-%28Possibly-%29).

Okay, the link worked and my 4e character profiles are still there, so yay. Sucks about the loss of all the 3.5 stuff, though. WOTC needs to understand that players will still want to use older editions as well as the new stuff. Dumping it all is very insulting to loyal players. Maybe an online petition can save the data, assuming it wasn't all scrapped already.

It also looks like all the Legends and Lore articles from the playtest (i.e., before May 2014) are outright gone :smallmad: including the Bounded Accuracy article :smallfurious:.

Well done, WotC Web Team. You've taken a poorly designed difficult to use website with very useful but hard to find content and turned it in to an even more poorly designed website that's even more difficult to use and then removed the content entirely.

On the plus side, your forums are no longer the worst side on your domain!

The general Archive for articles can be found here (http://archive.wizards.com/dnd/Archive.aspx). None of this is accessable easily, without knowing how to get to the archive (especially since archive.wizards.com directs to company.wizards.com, so you have to know to go to archive.wizards.com/d&d/ which, to my knowledge, is not linked anywhere on any part of the wizards or d&d websites)

Where can I find the Legends and Lore Next/Playtest articles, now in 2016?
