I want to play as an enchanter of gear--rings, amulets, armor, weapons--that sort of thing. Basically I want to imbue items with magic properties. Does anyone have or know of a good pre-made Homebrew class for this?

It would also be cool to me a blacksmith by trade that has the ability to imbue objects. This would be primarily a support role for my PC group, but I think it would be a blast to play.

Thanks in advance!

There are a number of Artificer (think magical Iron Man) classes and probably some enchanter subclasses already made for 5E.

Almost all 5E brew on this site can be found here: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?396519-D-amp-D-5e-Homebrew-Compendium

I can't think of anything that really fits this concept exactly. The closest homebrew suggestion is probably DiBastet's exceedingly well regarded Artificer of Alancia (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?367999-5e-Homebrew-The-Artificer-(of-Alancia)&highlight=artificer+of+alancia), but even that has the problem of not interacting with anyone's gear but their own. If you're determined to be able to enchant other people's gear the only class or archetype that I'm aware of is the artificer wizard subclass (http://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/UA_Eberron_v1.pdf) Wizards put out in the eberron unearthed arcana which eventually has the option of enchanting up to two pieces of equipment at a time.

What you may be looking for is one of the many Artificer inspired classes that exist on this forum. Twelvetrees index that he linked to is well kept and updated frequently.

However I would like to point out something. Magic gear beyond a +W/e weapon and armor are not factored into the overall balance of the classes. I don't have much to see what you are after specifically, but I think Rawrawrar's Artificer might be more in line with what you are looking for. Also, just as a heads up, the DMG has variant rules for when you are using magic items that allow any character to create magic items and gear. With that, what you can make is completely up to your DM. Creating items in 5e does take a long time and requires a lot of downtime.
