Pretty sure the Celestial Animal has to be one of the basic familiar animal types, but I'm not sure.

Also, you forgot Huitzil (Dragon Magic) - They're basic, nothing special required.

And, Albatross, Eel, Fish Owl, Octopus, Parrot, and Sea Snake, all basic, but those are all Aquatic campaign familiars (still on the list, though).

And, lastly Horned Lizards (this one's from Sandstorm). Another basic.

That's all I have right now - You might want to check Frostburn, too.

The DMG has lists for alternative familiars for both small and large masters.

Frostburn
Caribou
Fox, Arctic
Otter, Sea
Penguin
Seal

An Alienist from Complete Arcane gets the pseudonatural template added to any familiar they already have.

A Fleshwarper from Lords of Madness has their familiar gain the aberration type and gain some odd abilities.

The DMG also lists all 4 of the Small [type] Elementals as Improved Familiars at level 5.

Also: Any celestial/fiendish version of a standard familiar is an Improved Familiar at level 3.

Homunculus and Ice Mephit are Improved Familiars at level 7

The Homunculus has the alignment of its creator (the master).
Ice Mephits are usually neutral.

They can both be found in the MM.

Ghostly Visages are usually CE (Fiend Folio, page 221).

Eyeballs are usually NE (Monsters of Faerun, page 23).

I would hope so, since it is a DC 0 Profession (Business Administration) check to make the decision to go forward with the project.

Viper, Medium | N | 3rd
Monstrous spider, Small | N | 4th

Fortunately most of D&D and d20 based stuff is open gaming license. That's why there are online SRDs and havent been sued by WotC for everything they posess

oh and thanks for familiars :smallwink:

Actually only very little D&D material is open game content, at the time of writing only the DMG, PHB, MM1, XPH, Unearthed Arcana and a little snip from a book about deities.

Hm, okay, but i dont think my list is already breaking any copyright law. Its simply a list of names and caster levels. I would only be infringing if i posted th monster stats and benefits for the master, I think.
