I like the idea of being able to switch between one handed and two on the fly effectively, so I wanted to come up with a fighting style to support it.

Hand And A Half: When wielding a versatile weapon in one hand and no shield in your off hand, you gain +1 to AC and +1 to damage. When you wield a versatile weapon in two hands you gain +1 to AC and +1 to attack rolls with it.

This is my first time home brewing so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't it make more sense to get the damage buff from two handing, and the attack buff from one handing?

So, I built a version of this, also called hand and a half fighting, that works as such:

When wielding a versatile weapon in two hands, you gain a +1 to attack and +1 to damage.

It's half of Archery and half of Dueling.
I see where you're coming from with this version, but there's no reason to have a second fighting style benefitting weapons used in one hand.
