ULTRODAEMON (CR 20)

This faceless humanoid’s only discernible characteristics are its malevolent fire-opal eyes. Its slender frame is shrouded in a great cloak, revealing only its dark gray hands. Though it seems to be ignoring you, you have the uncanny feeling that it is quietly assessing you.

Aura of Evil (Su) The malignant presence of an ultrodaemon inflicts all enemies within 20ft of it with a -4 penalty to saving throws.

Deceive (Su) When an ultrodaemon desires, it can allow itself to be seen as a person whom its victim loves and respects. When this effect is active, the victim suffers a 30% miss chance against the fiend, and additionally suffers a -6 penalty to Armor Class against all attacks made by the ultrodaemon. The ultrodaemon can deceive one person per point of its Charisma modifier (usually +10). A Will save (DC 32) negates the effect. This is a mind-affecting effect.

Fascination (Su) Anyone who meets the gaze of an ultrodaemon must make a Will save (DC 30) or be fascinated by the fiend’s multihued gaze, suffering the effects of a hold monster spell.

Profane Grace (Ex) Ultrodaemons typically have enormous presence, shrewdness, and force of will, qualities that often overshadow the most powerful enchantments. Ultrodaemons are immune to all mind-affecting effects. In addition, they receive their Intelligence modifier as a profane bonus to their Armor Class and saving throws.

CHILDREN OF THE BAERN

The mightiest of the daemons – yugoloths, in their tongue – are the Children of the Baern, members of an elite caste of yugoloths that answer to the Lord of Khin-Oin and advise the General of Gehenna. Those few that aren’t instead claim fiefdoms, styling themselves lords of the Outer Planes. As a general rule, the Children of the Baern have the advanced simple template, possess class levels, or have nightmarish powers beyond most ultrodaemons.

Some powers are detailed below.

Blight upon the Planes (Su) Some ultrodaemons, especially those in close proximity of the Khin-Oin or the Tower of Incarnate Pain, have the ability to manifest a burst of negative energy with a 60 feet radius. Living creatures within the blast must succeed at a Fortitude save or else suffer 10d8 negative energy damage and 10d8 unholy damage, and 2d6 points of damage to any one ability score of the fiend’s choice. A successful saving throw halves the damage. The ultrodaemon in question often attaches a spell effect to the burst; those who dwell near the Khin-Oin can force victims to suffer contagion; daemons of Incarnate Pain inflict symbol of pain.

Maleficence (Su) The Child of the Baern is shrouded in a horrific unholy aura and desecrate effect that extends for 60 feet around the fiend. When the fiend speaks, any evil creature capable of listening is enthralled as per the dominate monster spell, while good and neutral creatures suffer from blasphemy.
