The Town Defense Initiative headquarters is centered around the Town park.
The perimeter is ringed by defensive gun-towers, ranging from anti-infantry and anti-vehicle towers to anti-air defenses, and anti-missle systems.
The interior of that ring of defenses consists of about three-dozen barracks, and a dozen airfields, as well as a dozen vehicle and walker hangars, which hold the tanks and walkers for the local defenses. Along with the gun towers, are an array of bunkers which can hold infantry. The headquarters are not the only TDI base in existance, but it is, by far, the most heavily defended.

The quarter-mile around the area is protected by a no-teleport, no ethereal travel, and no astral travel field in and around the base.

The other structures inside the base are multiple radar stations, fuel depots, supply silos, and the main building, where people can apply for a job here at the TDI. The main building's interior consists of a front desk, and multiple rooms in the back, among them a bar, rec room, a meeting room, briefing room, planning room, and etc.

TDI - Making the Town safer, through superior firepower.

Azzulon looks arround, sure that there is no artistic vein in the Blackout Raiders.

This place could really use an Architect, looks like Nukular employs only engineers...

It's a military base, not an art museum.

@Nukular, via radio
Raneus says he'll get his friend Ser to cast a no magical teleportation zone around the HQ. Also, he suggests we look into something along the lines of the Spear of Destiny as a long-term project.

blackout

Agreed. In the meantime, I also have a few things you should see as well.

LordVader

What things?

Just a couple of surprises I suspect we'll have ready if the Fourth Empire tries anything.

Haydn magically portals in. What's this about a no-magic-telportation zone? Becuase that's how I get around.

LordVader
2007-06-25, 02:58 PM
It will be necessary to keep enemies from surprising us. You'll still be able to teleport, but will have to walk a half-mile or so to the HQ.

blackout
2007-06-25, 03:02 PM
Raneus, get Jarus. I'll lead you to the BR weapons facility on the edge of the system. You'll like what you'll have to see.

LordVader
2007-06-25, 03:07 PM
We're deadtimed at a police operation right now. When we finish, sure.

blackout
2007-06-25, 03:10 PM
...Wait, if your deadtimed, how are you talking to me?

LordVader

He's the deadtimed one, we're just sitting on our asses waiting for him to post.

Y'know, you should look into making clones. Their perfect, they let you be in any two places at once, and they'd handle the situation like you would.

Draken
2007-06-25, 04:02 PM
Humans and their tecnology... His Lord ordered us to set up permanent gates, Haydn, we will give you something to link a gate to your base.

Azzulon hands over a small box with a button to Haydn, and calls out a small round construct.

With this iten you can open or close the gate, take this little one to your castle, he will set up a gate and come back thereafter.

Azzulon goes to supervise the preparation of necessary facilities to attend to the needs of the less millitar groups of the TDI, like labs, specimen (or prisoner, whatever) containment areas, forges, etc.

blackout
2007-06-25, 04:08 PM
Multiple labs are under construction, mostly weapons development facilities.

Draken
2007-06-25, 04:12 PM
And a construct thats probably got more Int than the builders is going to give supervision, mostly to the non-weapon related, after all the BR and IG probably are Arcane Inepts.

2007-06-25, 04:19 PM
An FE shuttle craft descends out of the clouds toward the base. It lands, and a group of FE soldiers and technicians disembark. The technicians supervise while the soldiers begin to offload a large circular package. The highest-ranking technician approaches Nukular's clone.

We have brought a device we have built that will enable travel between here and the city. Where would you like us to set it up?

blackout
2007-06-25, 04:21 PM
Eh, just drop it anywhere, Mac.

J_Muller
2007-06-25, 04:30 PM
The technicians and soldiers roll out the object, setting it carefully on the ground before erecting a small metal platform. Then, they get to work unpacking and stabilizing it. When they are finished, the ring-shaped device stands ready, a panel mounted on a post just in front of it. The panel bears a few assorted buttons, and the following instructions.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Press green button.
STAND BACK! Plume of antimatter is DANGEROUS!
Enter through wormhole once it has stabilized.
WARNING: Room on other side is guarded and manned constantly by soldiers. For your own safety, do not make any threatening movements as you walk through the portal.

Only, this one just goes up to their main one at the city. That one's a more sophisticated device, and it's hooked up to the dialing computer and enough power to connect to their others. Draken
2007-06-25, 06:08 PM
(Muller, Nukular is suspicious of the gate, so we are conducting a largely stupid test on it, give the result of the test, even it's astonishingly obvious...)

J_Muller
2007-06-25, 06:15 PM
((What, you're activating it? Sure.))

After the button is pressed, a whine and some whirring noises can be heard from the metal ring. Suddenly, blue energy shoots inwards from the edge, converging on the center of the ring. When it reaches the center, a large plume of bubbly blue energy shoots out with a loud Ka-Woosh, then just as quickly folds back in. The whole process takes less than a second. If the NPC has been foolish enough to take the several steps forward which would be required to put him in its path, he will find himself suddenly missing any parts of his body which the plume of antimatter touches, regardless of his protection. However, if he has done the sensible thing and stayed where he is, he will find that once the plume is gone, a field of almost waterlike blue energy is present inside the ring.

Azzulon dismisses the forcecage.

J_Muller
2007-06-25, 10:08 PM
Since the wormhole has already stabilized, the antimatter plume only lasting about half a second, nothing happens to him. Seeing no one he falls into deadtime.

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 10:42 AM
About ten giant worms burst out of the ground. immediatly they begin spewing things that look like a combination of dogs and scorpions. These begin attacking everyone in sight.

LordVader
2007-06-26, 10:43 AM
((I knew the zerg were coming!:smallamused:))
Dozens of Leman Russ Battle Tanks open fire, targeting the Nydus Worms. Hundreds of Stormtroopers charge forward and begin firing at the Zerglings. Scores of defensive turrets open up as well.

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 10:45 AM
The Zerglings keep coming (That is the one advantage of Zerglings:smallamused: ), and now hydralisks start coming. Spike tear up the ground. The Zerglings rush towards the turrets. It's obvious that not every Zerg that appears is battling, and the some are burrowing.

LordVader
2007-06-26, 10:46 AM
The 50 Leman Russes target the worms. 15 Marauder bombers fly in over the battlefield, dropping napalm on the zerg and bombing the Nydus Worms.
20 Basiliks begin firing, massive shells smash into the Zerg lines, kicking up huge sprays of dirt and Zerg.
((deadtime, please put this battle on hold, except Blackout has permission to control my troops if he wants.))
Lightning Air Superiority fighters fly in as well. A trio of psykers attempts to open a Warp Rift in the Zerg lines.

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 10:48 AM
(And what are you doing about the Lurkers?)

The worms retreat, but the Zerg keep coming.

(A drone might have made it underground in the fighting.)

LordVader
2007-06-26, 10:49 AM
The Basilisks, Leman Russes, and Marauders pound the area where the Zerg have burrowed. Nothing should survive. The Lightnings fire missles down the hole after the worms.
((deadtime))

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 10:50 AM
(This is why your detection systems didn't alert you. They go deeper, and make caverns. And the worms fill in the tunnels behind themselves.)

All signs of the Zerg are destroyed.

LordVader
2007-06-26, 11:15 AM
Psykers scan the area for Zerg life. If they detect any(and if there's any, they will), the Basilisks and Russes re-open fire, this time with meltabombs. The bombers will also drop melta charges(extremely powerful thermal weapons)

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 11:17 AM
They don't detect any.

(They're to deep underground.)

LordVader
2007-06-26, 11:25 AM
Just to be sure, they take a FE burrowing machine, strap a thermite charge to it, and send it undergroud scouting. If it is attacked, it will detonate.
((deadtime))
Also, if they come near the surface again, they will be sensed by the psykers, and there will be consequences.

SithLackey

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 12:09 PM
(They are WAY to deep. Please, cousin, don't start using real world physics. Legaly a 1st level 1/2 orc fighter with a 20STR and 4 ranks in jump can jump 29 feet. That ain't real world physics.)

Nightwing
2007-06-26, 01:15 PM

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 01:22 PM

"It's a compromise, but you need to understand it's Ferin's body and you're just visiting."

Nightwing

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 01:28 PM

Due to the Zerg burrowing attack, the IG begins to install seismic sensors all over the HQ's grounds. A massive shadow falls over the ground- a cruiser and two other ships can be seen descending. They are clearly IG.

2007-06-26, 02:36 PM
(Yeah, they are. Remember how I told you about all the units? I have a magazine and they're keeping Reavers, Zealots, Observers, and both Templars.)

I am General Zeretual. My men will ensure that the Zerg are gone.
Large numbers of Probes and Zealots, as well as about 100 Immortals, drop out. Several Phase Prisms deploy overhead. The Probes begin digging down the Zerg burrows. The Immortals position themselves in teams of five around the perimeter.

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 03:05 PM
Vaery well, but afterwards my men will go in and make sure they are all gone.

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 03:10 PM
(Not a man, an alien.)

The Zerg attacked the base. I am Protoss Ground Force General Zeretual. Who are you?
Turning to the commander
Yes, but would my men be in danger if they didn't get away fast enough?

LordVader
2007-06-26, 03:14 PM
No, we have the detonator, we'll blow when they come back to the surface.

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 03:19 PM
((Oh, I had no way of knowing that. Sorry))

Raril extends a hand. "Raril Xar'Cha, Sub-General of the Blackout Raiders, members of the TDI. Who, or what, are the Zerg?"

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 03:25 PM
Very well.
After giving orders to his men, he turns back to Raril and shakes his hand
The Zerg are the enemies of my people. They destroyed our homeworld, and have cost us two of our greatest heroes.

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 03:30 PM
Raril doesn't seem to know what to say about that. "That's..too bad. I'm glad you're here to help, though. You all seems to have the situation under controll, so I'll leave it to you." He tips his hat to the General and falls into deadtime.

((I'll be back later))

LordVader
2007-06-26, 03:31 PM

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 04:21 PM
Raril comes out of his brief deadtime and takes another look around.

Draken
2007-06-26, 04:26 PM
Azzulon looks down at the IG soldier.

I wonder when they abolished politness in your planet...

He looks at Zeretual.

And your explanation gave no actual information to Raril, I wonder why you militar humanoids are so uncomunicative...

Turns to Raril.

Would you want a better explanation on the nature of the Zerg species?

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 04:28 PM
Raril grins and nods. "That would be greatly appreciated, my friend.Knowing is half the battle after all." The drow chuckles.

Draken
2007-06-26, 04:53 PM
Very well.

Azzulon takes a small pause, the same a living creature would use to take a deep breath, but in his case the function is unclear.

Zerg are a species of intergalactic social vermin. Theyr society is divided in a group of chastes, going fron the lowest Zergling to the greatest Overminds and worst. Every Zerg begins it's life as a small larvae in a hatchery, but when need arrives the larva's DNA is altered, in order for the creature to evolve into one of the many different creatures that make a horde. Some zerg can even infest other living creatures, taking control of then and turning these unfortunates into expendable slaves not really a change for most humanoids...

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 04:58 PM
Raril chuckles at Azzulon's mumbled statement, knowing too well how true it is. "I thank you again for the information, but I feel there's really noting I can do here. Unless you think some music would drive them away?" The bard grins wryly.

Draken
2007-06-26, 05:06 PM
Drive then away? Hardly, Zerg are a coletive mind, the lesser ones obey the orders of the highter ones, and these usually see the lower zerglings as expendable to. But your music could be used as bait.

He nods a bit.

Alas, His Lord said you have assassin training, are you sure you have no battle skills?

He looks away and turns back.

Also, you are both the Blackout Raiders and the Thieves Guild second in comand, it is your duty to lead the troops.

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 05:11 PM
Raril frowns. "I am second-in-command, aren't I? And no one else is around to lead so..."
"So your in command"
The drow twitches slightly, a grin spreading across his face.
"Tell me, do these things have any weaknesses? Blowing them up might not be the best plan."

Draken
2007-06-26, 05:15 PM
The Zerg don't have any notable strengh or weakness, except for their astonishing numbers, most of the bulk is made of the zerglings, that are pretty weak, but fast.

Most area effective weapons and spells will deal heavy damage to the zerg, but I believe these creatures are immune to acids, most diseases and poisons.

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 05:17 PM
Raril nods. "Well so much for an elaborate plan. We'll just blow them to pieces, and once we get rid of them could we get someone to create a Wall of Force to completely surround the base? Well, underground at least."

Draken
2007-06-26, 05:22 PM
I can take care of the wall of force.

Blasting then until there is not a single one left is indeed the only course of action. But we will need heavy weaponry and some considerable densive measures to take care of the deeper colonies.

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 05:25 PM

Actually, the Zerg are very vulnerable to disease.

Draken
2007-06-26, 05:34 PM
They are? Odd, most creatures that grow in such an environment develop very effective immunologic sistems, in this case I believe a biological assault wouldn't be reliable, the survivors would probably develop resilience to the strain, and even incorporate it's DNA and use it against you...

I say you because we constructs don't care about diseases...

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 05:39 PM
They are an all biological species based on swarming. Disease spreads quickly among them. It is best used before a major offence, as it temporarily weakens their defences. I have much experience in fighting them, and have lost two great allies to the Overmind and its servants.

Artemis97
2007-06-26, 05:40 PM
Raril thinks for a while. "So we get them sick, blow them to pieces, secure the base, then regroup and hunt down this Overmind thing. How does that plan sound?"

Draken
2007-06-26, 05:42 PM
Like a basic war tactic that a child would have devised.

Vhaidara
2007-06-26, 05:43 PM
The only problem is what it takes to kill the Overmind. One of the allies I lost died trying, and did so by combining the powers of the Dark Templar, my caste, and the High Templar, his caste. They themselves have no defences, aside from disabling any invisiblity that is near them. The problem isn't killing them. It's getting them to stay dead. The Overmind is able to regenerate them.

You don't seem to understand how difficult it is to kill a Cerebrate. The Overmind doesn't need a body. Because they are merely extensions of its will, it simply makes a new body and implants its will into it. Only five Cerebrates have ever been killed, one by myself, the others by my bretheren. Our energies are opposed to the Overmind. I know this merely because when I slew one, I was connected with its mind.

Also, we need you to make the base teleport-proof.

Very well, I ssshall do that asss well.
Also, if there isn't already a wall around the base, construction has begun on one.

Alon proceeds to cast an Anti-Teleport spell over the HQ.

(The Disjunction is suposed to end the magic effect of the Astral Projection, thus forcing the creature back to his body, or to the place where it casted astral projection in the first place if there is no body and you don't know how the Astral projection Spell works.)

((Also, the force sphere should cut the traveler off from his silver cord.))
Alon lays out four boxes that seem to have an on/off switch. He also lays out two more boxes, that have buttons on them. He casts Permanency on the no-teleport field.

The thing disappears. After a few more seconds, it reappears behind Azzulon. A somewhat amused voice emanates from it.

"I can keep doing this for longer than you can keep interfering."

LordVader
2007-07-04, 11:27 AM
Alon hefts one of the boxes, and points it at the blue haze. He hits the switch. An antimagic field is created. Also, a psyker attempts to create a force bubble around it again, which will trap it there and possibly sever the silver cord.
Is there any way you can proof this place to astral and ethereal travel as well?
Yesss.
He turns off the antimagic field, and proceeds to cast two spells that will make astral travel and ethereal travel impossible within the TDI HQ's walls.

There is now a no-teleport, no astral travel, and no etheral travel zone surrounding the entire TDI HQ, and a quarter-mile in every direction.
Alon proceeds to cast Permanency on the zones.((Note: They cannot be dispelled.))

The massive, two-mile-long cruiser now hovers about a half-mile above TDI HQ. It begins shuttling troops down.
((This cruiser was already planetside for an earlier plot, I'm not bringing it just because AMEN is coming.))

He seems to be just looking around, and not doing anything hostile.

A sentry shouts at Magtok,
HALT!
This is at the half-mile exclusion zone.
The cruiser has shuttled down already two stormtrooper companies, a mechanized company, and two armor companies.
Raneus and Jarus also appear in the TDI HQ. They stride to the wall, and via loudspeaker, ask Magtok,
What do you want?
((Raneus is red, Jarus blue. Raneus is an officer, and Jarus is a psyker.))
Yes, what do you want? This is TDI property, and right now, you're tresspassing.

Sparkling particles start streaming out of the thing. It is now no longer hidden, for obvious reasons. It collapses into a very small globe, and floats away from the field.

Magtok does as told, and halts.

I'm just wandering around Town, because I don't have anything else to do right now.

Magtok pauses for a moment, and counts all of the troops around him.

Wow. Do you really think you need that many people just to keep one cyborg out?

((The troops are inside the base's walls, and he's a half-mile outside, alone.))
Jarus attempts to scan his mind for deciet.
Why would you "wander" past here? And these troops are for defending the HQ from whatever threat, not you.
Raneus is thinking to himself,
Well, he has some ego problems.
((Alon doesn't. The trooper was just asking him to make the base safe against those things, so they can't be suprise-attacked.))
The cruiser is now almost finished shuttling troops down.

Regardless of whether or not the scan succeeds, Jarus will continue to "monitor" the area for any outbursts of hostility or anger. This is not mind-scanning, but rather like "passive" sonar, if you will.

The blue thing stops, and begins it expanding. It slowly forms into a cage. Eventually, it turns a metallic color and stops releasing particles, and is now a normal cage. Dark shapes move within it.

LordVader

Jarus attempts to seal that within a force bubble as well. The bubble will keep whatever is inside it stuck in there. ((Jarus is massively more powerful then the other psyker.))

((The troops are inside the base's walls, and he's a half-mile outside, alone.))

((Whoops. Well umm...lets just say he saw the shuttles as they fell from the sky.))

Magtok's mind is scanned, and Jarus finds a hell of a lot of deceit.

As I said, I have nothing better to do. And what makes you so certain I'm not a threat, anyway?

For all you know, I could be an escaped convict from some nuthouse, armed with a stolen prison guard's pistol, ready to mindlessly slaughter some NPCs for no justifiable reason.

I might also be a general from far, far away, with a massive army of trash-talking, giant robots that can turn into cars, helicopters, and trucks. I could be posing as an idiot so that you let down your guard for a moment, just long enough for Megatron to bodyslam your entire base.

And if I'm not either of those two things, I might even be a god, disguised as a cyborg, here to learn whether your kind have been following the proper path, and whether I should or should not smite you all to oblivion.

The cage begins to fall into the hole, but collides with the Force bubble, unless it doesn't extend into the ground, in which case it falls into the hole and is buried.

((Does the bubble extend into the ground?))

LordVader

Jarus is moving the force bubble, with the cage inside, into the hole. A massive shuttle descends, clearly carrying something big. Magtok will not be able to see the guardsmen, since they are on the other side of the wall.
Also, Jarus telepathically alerts any of Draken's people within the walls that they may have a situation.((i.e. Magtok.))
Jarus frowns, noticing a similarity between this voice and one on a tape from earlier...

Alon gets up, after recieving his GP reward, and turns to leave through the gate.

I can tell you're lying. What the hell do you want?
Jarus does a deeper mindscan, attemtpting to learn personal information and memories from Magtok.
Ever so subtly, guarsmen begin to drift towards the walls. Very subtly.

((Jarus tries to learn his whole life story? Ouch. That much info all at once isn't a very smart choice. Here's the short version.))

The mindscan shows Magtok's troubled past, from the very beginning. It starts out on an ordinary day in a world similar to the real world, until something goes horribly wrong. A pair of corrupt cops on a mission from a local mofia break into a young boy's home, kill his parents, and cut him in half. His siblings manage to escape, and aren't heard from ever again.

Magtok wakes up, somehow still alive. He puts his hand to the other half of his face, and discovers he is now a cyborg. The next decade of his life involves a violent rise to power as emperor of his homeworld, avenging his parents' deaths, a brief amount of time at Evil High, and then his cruel usurping at the hands of good, and his soul getting warped to AMEN.

From there, he ends up spending his time as a punching bag, being horribly murdered and tortured on a daily basis by the various AMENites.

Needless to say, none of this has been very good for his mental health.

Just what everyone else in the world wants.

LordVader
2007-07-04, 12:13 PM
((He will also be able to pull AMEN HQ location from Magtok's head.))
I know you're an AMENite. Leave now, and you won't get hurt.
One of the cruiser's batteries swivels to point in Magtok's general direction. It's obviously not pointing right at him, but nonetheless should be cause for concern. The shuttle disgorges a Baneblade, a massive Imperial Guard superheavy tank.

Magtok looks at the cruiser and the tank, but doesn't seem to care that much. Probably due to having that "Kamino-ish facility."

Hmm...I doubt I'll get hurt even if I stay here. That thing looks like it can kill me before I'd feel any pain.
