Atreyu the Masked LLama
2007-06-26, 11:29 PM
*The many members of the SMBG' forums and sub-forums all line up and board the cruise ship affectionately called "Embrace the Madness." Its a celebration of the history and joy of the Silly Message Board Game forums and its sub-forums.
Its well designed and split into sections, representing the structured games and the Town. There is a game of Playground Squares played nightly and Trogdonald's is personally catering this affair.

The passengers all mingle and wave to the Friendly Banter folk who watch from the shore as the "Madness" sets sail. The FB people mutter because their forum never holds a cruise party although with so many secret crushes, perhaps a night of Spin the Bottle may be a good idea for the Banterers.

After only a few hours at sea, Timberwolf wins an intense "Answer a Question with a Question" tournament, with the classic "What are we going to do tonight, Brain?" Her opponent, the lovable German Shepard, Barnabas, could only reply with "The same thing we do every night, Pinky," which was not a question, and so he lost.

That evening, the party-goers settled down for supper. The finest bamhacon money can buy was brought in and everyone ate like kings, except Zeb who felt he should eat like a rebel. As supper was ending, El Jaspero hopped on stage to play banjo while the people danced. It was a surprise to all whenever El Jaspero brings his banjo down on Des' head. Des stumbled, surprised, by the assault, then by the skewering that El J performs on his interal organs. Obed-hai, a local plant deity that wanders around in Town occassionally gasps as it grows hard to breathe. His coffee cup falls and shatters to the ground. Seren tries to flee but is tripped and attacked by a gang of pirates. She is quickly dispatched, but at least she was tripped and didn't fall.

*El Jaspero stands on stage and hollers* "I used to be the big man on the forums! My post count was in the millions and then you all took it away! Now I'm not even a Titan! I'm just a bug bear. Well, I'll tell you what I'm going to do about it. Me and my loyal crew are going to kill you all and loot you of your post counts. We'll split them up between us and soon we will all be titans once again and you will all be ghosts in the playground! Literally!"

*The crazed laughter of El Jaspero and his pirate crew fill the halls of the ship as you run to your cabin for safety.*

Seren, Des, and Obed-hai were all killed by pirates.
Night 1 begins and will end at 11PM EST on Wednesday. Please PM all night actions to Indurain; Atreyu the Masked Llama; Alarra.

Current Votes (as of 3:55pm, Thursday July 26th)

Has Not Voted: 19

Roles (partial list at this point)

(Alpha Pirate) = El Jaspero - The Pirate King is out to steal your post count. He chooses one person to be Smellie Hippie. He also scries as a normal passenger.

(Devil) = Smellie Hippie - Hippie uses his coffee senses to find the roles of one person each night. He scries as a pirate.

(The Seer)=Alarra- Alarra's puppy dog eyes and overall kindness can convince just about anyone to give up their role and the rumors of her networks can further help her sniff out the truth.
Each night Alarra may investigate someone and discern their role.

(The Baner)= Indurain-This naked emperor has fought in the halls of Valhalla and has spoken at the beginning of many an arena battle. His fighting skills are unmatched.
Each night he vows to protect someone from harm and watches over them. If anyone attacks that person, Indurain will protect them and send the villian home aching.

(The Fool)=Atreyu the Masked llama- Atreyu often tries to use logic to find the wolves and often the theories he comes up with are dead wrong despite their feasibilty. His history of bad guesses and inaccurate logic is quite long, but still he tries. Each night, Atreyu will piece together the clues and come up with an explanation that he is sure is correct. Sadly, Atreyu often yearns of being a Moderator and having a neat custom title and all the other perks of Modhood and sometimes imagines that he is Alarra. (There was no way to write that sentence and not make it sound ......awkward.)

(The Feuders) = Zombie Rock star and Korith - These two hate each other. They will not be happy unless the other is dead. The goal of each of these characters is to see the other one dead by any means neccessary. They can only win if the other is killed, but once the other feuder is dead, all the living feuder has to do to win is survive until the end of the game, regardless of which team wins.

The Legion of Fran will represent the Masons. Older membes of the SMBG's may remember the Legion from its prime back in March-July of 2006. Its distinguished members include its current leader Ceika, the amazing Supagoof, the violent Kyrian, the man with the talking toad called Reijas, and many more. The Legion used to battle the forces of Narf, but for this game they will attempt to protect the boat from the evil pirates and the dread AMENites.

The AMENites are vile ruthless evil people who started out as a small blight on SMBG's but grew in power and number. They are representing the role of "The Cult" The cult was first introduced in Mafia II and starts as a single person, but each night the cult recruits a new member. To win, there must be no one but cult members alive.

(Cult Leader)=Lord Magtok- His cold, evil, cybernetic ways have brought him quickly to the front of the evil movement, and other evil playgrounders find themselves compelled to join his corrupt group. The cult may only recruit members as long as the cult leader is alive.

(Lovers) = Two hearts who beat as one. If one member dies, so does the other.

Current Time: Day 9, Ends 11pm EST, Thursday, July 25.

And the Ship's bell strikes the hour...

Is that the Madness taking its toll? ))

pingcode20
2007-06-26, 11:45 PM
"Well you have fun doing that." replies Pingcode, sitting back down and giving El Jaspero a thumbs up.

He tapes a little bit of paper to his table and waits patiently for the inevitable roar of pointing and counterpointing the next day.

He also takes a red marker and draws a large red dot over his heart.

How to kill Pingcode and steal his posts
1. Stab in location marked in RED marker.
2. Wear surgical gloves on hands.
3. Make incision along left side of avatar.
4. Remove mailbox from under left lung.
5. Make incision across back of right shin and remove key.
6. Unlock mailbox with key and remove posts.
7. Dispose of waste forumite responsibly.

Khaldan
2007-06-26, 11:55 PM
khaldan puts up a giant 'DONT PANIC!' poster up in his cabin while trying to remember why he got on this boat..

Fleeing Coward
2007-06-27, 12:15 AM
The Coward runs back to his room muttering something about pirates ruining yet another of his vacations as he locks the door to his room and hides in the back of his closet.

Helgraf
2007-06-27, 12:40 AM
"Tis an ill wind that bodes no good. To Lethe, and sleep, and hopes of a wakeful morn!"

Funkyodor
2007-06-27, 12:43 AM
"Ok, Ok, get it together Funky." Hmm, what am I forgetting? *Sits down on foot stool* Doors closed, locked, fake me is in bed, blankie is under the bed. Heh Heh, that'll fool those El Jaspero pirates for sure. Maybe I should go for the double fake and put the fake me under the bed? Man, decisions decisions, I might not get any sleep if I keep this.... Zzzzzzz... Zzzzzzz...

whitehelm
2007-06-27, 01:16 AM
whitehelm puts what few posts he has in his safe, and then hides the safe somewhere SECRET.

Ink
2007-06-27, 01:33 AM
Ink pointedly ignores the commotion and walks noiselessly back to his cabin. A red and white bullseye hangs from the back of the door, and a second later three shuriken fly from his hand and plant themselves in the target. Ink retrieves the throwing stars and settles quietly into the shadows of the cabin. One thing is for sure, if he sees any sign of a pirate, he'll be ready.

((Hey Atreyu, how about putting up the role descriptions in the first post?))

Jontom Xire
2007-06-27, 01:46 AM
Jontom sidles surrepticiously away. With no avatar he finds it surprisingly easy. Then he disappears off to hide somewhere secret and ...ummm... hidden. Hiding in his cabin would, he feels, make it too easy for him to be found and killed, and the locks on the doors are frankly flimsy.

Shadow
2007-06-27, 01:52 AM
After having one-too-many gin & tonics with one-too-many drunken showgirls, Shadow decides that it's time for a good old fashioned skinny dip.

Unfortunately, what he mistook in his drunken stupor for the ship's showgirls was actually a bingo team vacationing from Miami.
Too much gin tends to do that at times....

Even more unfortunately, security notices him peeing in the pool and promptly banishes him to his room for the night.

While he's being escorted to his cabin, Shadow escapes their clutches for a moment and decides to climb the railing, yelling "I'm king of the world!"
He then passes out onto the deck and is carried off to his room by the much more sober and boring staff of the vessel only to awaken in the morning, hopefully in time for a mimosa or two.

Zar Peter
2007-06-27, 04:13 AM
Zar Peter is standing on the deck and watching the night sky through his telescope.

Pirates who steal posts, eh? Thank goodness the SMBG posts don't count so I have nothing to lose!
And Shadow don't know when to stop with Gin. Maybe I will have a word with him tomorrow at the bar. Today I think he is not allowed to go there.

Almighty Salmon
2007-06-27, 04:19 AM
I dash back to my room and slam the door behind me.

"Why!? Why do they want my posts! I'm just a pixie! Mine would hardly contribute.."

I lock my door and hide under my bed. Waiting anxiously to see what happens.

Akaziel
2007-06-27, 04:48 AM
Akaziel decides to look out at the calm blue ocean, to get his mind off post-snatching pirates. Lousy no-good pirates... Trying to steal my posts... just after I got to Halfling status, too... *grumblegrumble*

smellie_hippie
2007-06-27, 06:01 AM
I got knocked over and smashed on the first post!? :smalleek: No wait.... I'm still talking. That means that's not me on the floor there... leaking my precious coffee across the floor. :smallfrown: Unless I'm a ghost. Didn't they say something about being a ghost?:smalleek: I don't want to be a ghost!

*Smellie_Hippie runs around frantically until someone points out that he is actually running and not dead on the floor. He then sits down and has a drink.*

doliemaster
2007-06-27, 06:02 AM
Doliemaster smiles from his room watching all this through the porthole, before paling, dashing out of his room muttering,"Dolies for luck, Ham sandwhichs for protection."

Vhaidara
2007-06-27, 07:37 AM
Bookboy, hearing about post-theft, does his best not to sit in a corner and look like a plot hook.

B-Man
2007-06-27, 08:13 AM
B-Man runs to his cabin, at a loss for words, and slams his door behind him. He cradles a large jar of ground coffee beans and rocks back and forth.

When he regains his senses, he moves a picture of a safe to reveal a safe behind it. He spins the combination, opens it, and places the jar safely beside the many other jars of coffee. He closes the safe and hides it.

B-Man then flops on his bed and tries to fall asleep. He continually tosses and turns.

...I knew having 25 cups o' coffee was a bad idea... he says to himself.

Captain van der Decken
2007-06-27, 09:25 AM
"Heheh.. them crazy pirates, eh?" Decken says, grinning nervously.

Supagoof
2007-06-27, 09:37 AM
Supagoof looks around at the other passengers before heading to his cabin. He makes a few quick mental notes as to their actions, reading as he had in the past, the subtle hints of detection every villian inevitably pushes forth. As he enters his cabin, he opens up a storage locker and begins to pull out a few items. He thinks about times past when life was simpler in the forums.

He sets aside a plaque, a belt, and a bobble head. Any observer looking closer would find most of these items in his sig. But he digs a little deeper and finds a key and an old badge. He rubs the dust of the badge, on one side a enscription reading "Officer # 1" is engraved. On the other side, the work G.U.F.I.P.O.L.I.C.E is stamped. Supagoof pins the badge upon his chest. He tucks the key in his pocket, the letters S.M.B.R. are visible just before the key disappears into the pocket's folds. He pulls out another item, a shield marking the membership into the Legion. Though he long ago had ties to this organization, he had let the shield gather too much dust and the bonds be forgotten. With any luck other members, still noble in the cause would be aboard. If not, then the former Captain of the Gufipolice and Legionary of Protection would do what he could to find and fend off these pirates.

He looks over at his bunkmate, a large 1/2 orge 1/2 orc. He quietly wonders if Graklok would assist him. Yeah, of course he would. The big guy always did what he could when he was asked. Supagoof takes his bunk, and despite Graklok's snores, he falls asleep.

Artemis97
2007-06-27, 09:47 AM
A dark haired woman leans against the railing staring out at the ocean and muttering to herself. "Darn Pirates, what right do they have to spoil our cruise? and all over a silly post count too. Don't they know it's not how many posts you have but their quality that counts? *sigh* I hate pirates, never should have dated that one..."

Castaras
2007-06-27, 10:16 AM
Castaras looks around, pies circling round her.

Hmm. Interesting.

She turns to Smellie Hippie.

While we wait for El J(Who must have gone insane!) to come kill us, could you get me some coffee please?

@V <.< >.> You saw nothing.

Alarra
2007-06-27, 10:27 AM
It's night sweetie.

Madmal
2007-06-27, 10:41 AM
((i saw it... ))

Mal decides to wait too, besides, he's been sleeping all day long, and couldn't sleep even if he was knocked over...

faerwain
2007-06-27, 03:10 PM
Faerwain stands perplexed at the ensuing chaos.
"Titan? Bugbear? Post count?"

He grabs one of the running New Pixie Characters.:

"Are there other ranks than Pixie? What are they? How do I get them? What do they do? How many post counts can I get? Does it count when I post my favourite recipe? And my adress? Or my favourite song? Where are you running...?"

With the decision to find out more about this mysterious post counts tomorrow, he wanders to his cabin.

Eldritch Knight
2007-06-27, 03:11 PM
"Hey! That's my Peanut! And why is all the rum gone?" Eldritch Knight chases after the cloaked figure who has stolen his secret stash. What is most confusing is that EK doesn't drink, so why would he have rum in his secret stash? Even more mindboggling is the fact that EK is allergic to peanuts...

Madmal
2007-06-27, 03:25 PM
Mal watches EK running past by...

oh, that's it...this is getting annoying...and more importantly...i'm sinking into boredoom...

*takes a shotgun out and begins to chase after EK*

No impersonations of famous movie characters here!! Just go away, Ben!!

((kudos if you figure out the webcomic reference))

Artemis97
2007-06-27, 04:26 PM
Artemis watches Mal chase after EK. "We've been out of port for less than a day and we're already trying to kill each other? This is going to be a fun voyage." She laughs and shakes her head.

Atreyu the Masked LLama
2007-06-27, 10:39 PM
During the night, the passengers are awoken by a noise.

if you make a DC 35 listen check, you awaken to the sounds of someone unlocking a door and opening it.

one round later, if you make a DC 30 listen check, you'll hear El Jaspero yell "Die Barbarian." Followed by him yelling "Who are you?"

one round later, if you make a DC 25 check, you'll be awakened by a man boasting "I'm the Emperor and the elected king and I protect my subjects. Run El Jaspero, or face the wrath of Indurain."

one round later, if you make a DC 20 listen check, you'll hear or be awakened by the sounds of a good old fashioned canadian beatdown. The trademark sounds of a Canadian beatdown include the sound of steel chopping into wood, stone smacking into flesh, and someone ordering a "20 pack of Timbits".

If you're still asleep at this point, a listen check DC 15 will wake you up as you hear El Jaspero running away, swearing loudly.

Anyone still asleep will wake up as another pirate is thrown out of Shadow's room through the door.

Anyone who goes to investigate will find Shadow alone in his room, his mouth hanging open in horror. All Shadow can say is "He...he saved me...he fought them off....but..but.....*cries*...he was naked! It was horrible. It was everywhere."

Shadow was attacked by pirates, but was protected by Indurain.

Day will end at 11 PM EST on Friday night. Well, it will end sometime Friday night, since Friday is supposed to be the GitP meet up.

(p.S The checks are just flavor text. There is no need to really make listen checks. )

Artemis97
2007-06-27, 10:54 PM
Artemis runs down the hall when she hears the commotion. Seeing the destruction of the door she asks. "Is everyone alright?"

Khaldan
2007-06-27, 10:59 PM
shadow was protected by indy? interesting..
means we have 2 people who cant be pirates already..

i point at funkyoder for lack of a better reason.

Zar Peter
2007-06-28, 12:37 AM
((Oh man, this game will get wierd and confusing))

((@^ I think Indurain is the role and Shadow is the person. So you're correct about Shadow can't be a Pirate because he already checked that pirates can't attack pirates to confuse the citizens in another game.
But Indurain could be a pirate and an other person has the role INDURAIN (=Baner)))

Zar Peter awakes because of the screaming of the naked emperor. When he opens his door he only can see a shadow running away from Shadows room ( )

Zar Peter points at Malmagor Andrigal

Did you see what happened, dear sir?

((v I knew I forgot something, thank you!))

Alarra
2007-06-28, 12:43 AM
(Indurain, the board member, can't be a pirate, as Indurain, is the narrator. Someone else would have the role of 'Indurain', however)

Funkyodor
2007-06-28, 12:44 AM
*yahn* "Ahhh, waking up to the refreshing sound of combat. Nothing quite like it!" As I walk out the door I almost bump into the figure of Khaldan, pointing in my general direction. "Why me Khaldan? Well take this!" *I point at Khaldan*

Vonriel
2007-06-28, 12:55 AM
Vonriel hears the noise and comes crashing out of his room in his skivvies, trailing a sheet. Huh, uh, wha? What's goin on out here!? He starts looking around, holding his empty bottle of booze menacingly, when he realizes he forgot to get dressed in his haste to get out of the door. He points the bottle at Evnafets before turning around and running back into his cabin to clothe himself.

Artemis97
2007-06-28, 12:57 AM
Artemis points at Vonriel and giggles.

Shadow
2007-06-28, 01:44 AM
Mumbling incoherently to himself from the shock, you hear Shadow stammer out "Th-th-th-th-thank y-y-you, Indy. Wh-wh-wh-what d-d-d-d-d-d-do y-y-ou th-th-think the p-p-p-irates want w-w-wtih me?

W-w-wait.... w-w-where d-did you g-g-go?"
Still naked from his romp in the pool earlier with the bingo team, Shadow truly does feel like the King of the world.
Why would the pirates come after me? I haven't done anything except buy rounds of rum and gin. I would have thought that they would've liked that....

Not yet fully sober from last night's escapades, Shadow decides that it would be a bit of a bummer to waste away the morning trying to find these accursed pirates without a mimosa or two and an omlette.
Heading for the galley straightaway, Shadow drunkenly bumps into Zar Peter along the way.
"Let's go get some breakfast, buddy, and forget about these damned pirates for a while. Whadayasay? I hear there's going to be a dance contest tonight in the ballroom. Do you want to be my partner? I'll let you lead, you old dog, you."

Practically dragging Zar Peter down the hall behind him, and after all the exitement, Shadow doesn't even realize that he's still not dressed from the night before.

Jontom Xire
2007-06-28, 02:04 AM
I'm a little confused. I think I better 'fresh up on the rules. Could someone point me at them please.

Int he meantime, Jontom Xire points at (eeny, meeny, miny, mo), Funkyodor.

Zar Peter
2007-06-28, 02:05 AM
Zar Peter tries to point out to Shadow that he is naked but fails entirely.
With a red head he sits with him in the breakfast room, trying to ignore the rest of the people staring at them.

Erm, Shadow, I know now that you have been attacked by El J and saved and so on and you are happy to live at last one day, but you should really get some cloths on.
I would borrow you my cloak but erm... this is my sleeping cloak and I have nothing on beneath it, either.

smellie_hippie
2007-06-28, 06:34 AM
*smellie_hippie climbs out from the cupboard and knocks on B-man's door.*

I need a refill man... and I know you have some coffee.:smallamused:

*He looks around at the small milling crowd and the mess of Shadow's door. He also notices that quite a few people have started slinging fingers out.*:smallconfused:

Whoa people, whoa. *sips coffee* Pointing for the fun of it?:smallannoyed: How about some justification for those accusations? The only person I'm certain to not point at right now is Shadow.

*smellie_hippie refrains from pointing at this time and offers Shadow a bathrobe.*

Akaziel
2007-06-28, 06:46 AM
Akaziel wakes up in his chair in a very awkward sleeping position. He groans and unlocks the door, looking around for some food.

pingcode20
2007-06-28, 07:01 AM
Pingcode remains in his seat, occasionally trying to get up but finding the feat impossible, his torso glued to the chair behind the console.

Instead, he settles for calling in an orbital strike on Inky, presumably in an attempt to provoke him into giving some proper reasons to point at someone.

Or, alternatively, to send himself (pingcode) into a watery grave by invoking his (inky's) full logic mode against him (pingcode again).

Funkyodor
2007-06-28, 07:13 AM
"Hey, I'm only slinging a finger Khaldans direction because he's pointing at me. It's just rude lobbing points at people before they have a chance to smell the salty air, have some salted pork, a bit o' coffee, or (insert generic cruise ship food here)!" Noticing the finger wagging coming his way from another source I change my accusatory *point to Jontom Xire*. "Hey, why couldn't I be eeny or meeny instead of moe?" (Even though he is my favorite stooge)

Almighty Salmon
2007-06-28, 07:28 AM
Salmon unlockes his door and exits his cabin.

"Anyone know where i can get some breakfast..?"

Salmon points at Jontom Xire

"How about you?"

Timberwolf
2007-06-28, 08:11 AM
Timberwolf appears from her room and looks at her breakfast.

"Oh man, pirates again ? And you mean to tell me Shadow was attacked ? I was going to point at him on principle."

She points at Jontom Xire instead, because he's from Southampton and SOuthamptons a port where, logically, there must be pirates.

Fleeing Coward
2007-06-28, 08:40 AM
Shadow not a pirate? there goes an easy first day point
Well my psychic powers tell me that Calamity, Artemis, Supagoof and Timberwolf are pirates so I'll point at Castaras on the basis that her name can be spelt by using the first letter of those names :smallamused:

Jontom Xire
2007-06-28, 08:53 AM
Oh great. My first ever game of Pirates and I'm lined up to walk the plank in the first round!

It is however interesting to note that no previous points started a bandwagon, but points against me did. That might be indicative that someone else being pointed at, possibly someone who had more than one vote, is a member of a secret group whose members promptly moved to shift the bandwagon to me.

Hippie, if i'm not mistaken, B-man was trying to loose on the cofee...i got some Mocha and Green Tea over at my room, but i think there may be some expresso on the brakfast room...

oh, and Fleeing Coward, as far as i know you're no psychic, so don't start giving suspicions looks to more than four people...it's too early for that..me and my paranoic self find that suspicious...

and shadow, why for Arborea's sake are you on your birthday suit? this is SMBG, not RB!!!

ya know, i think-

i don't care what you think about now...me hungry, me want food.

Did you get a good look at any of their faces?

Bookboy points at Jontom Xire Mal.
(Because Mal didn't point.)

Artemis97
2007-06-28, 10:25 AM

HyramGraff

Supagoof
2007-06-28, 11:34 AM
Supagoof awakens and heads out to investigate the scene.

Scared of high charisma are they? Well, that settles that. I'm sleeping nude from here on out.

Shortly afterwards, Graklok walks out looking about.

Wha happen? Graklok 'ere shoutin' den Graklok wake up and find people talkin'

Shadow was attacked by the pirates last night Graklok.

Whose Shadow? Not Graklok's shadow. Graklok's shadow large like Graklok is. Piwates be skared of Graklok's shadow.

No, not someone's shadow, some one as in his name is Shadow - him over there. Supagoof motions to Shadow.

Nakkid guy? Graklok asks looking at Shadow.

Yes, but he was protected by Emperor Indurain. You remember him don't you?

Yeah, he nakkid king guy too. But he very fun be awound. Ladies not stare at Graklok so much when he awound. Dey keep lookin at nakkid king's waist or sumting.

Right, well let's go looking for clues. I'm not going to throw anyone overboard just yet until I learn more of what's going on. Like for example why is the crowd against Jontom over there. What has he done to have people wanting to kill him so early? Let's go and find out shall we?

Otay. Graklok go with you an' talk to Bwue guy.

Supagoof and Graklok make their way over to where Jontom is.

((It seems suspicious that a bunch would start a bandwagon against Jontom so hastily, but maybe they know something we don't. I don't believe in the day 1 random jitters simply because there are groups (masons, cult, pirates) who know each other and can gang up on a person - especially if one of them has a seer/devil in their midst and a night to act before any points are made (*cough*pirates*cough*). So you who pointed at Jontom, you better have a good reason as to why or I'm going to point at you.))

But since you don't have any points and mathematically I'm more likely to see a lynch by going with the Jontom crowd, I guess I'll just have to save pointing at you for another night."

*Helgraf points at Jontom Xire*

Khaldan
2007-06-28, 12:16 PM
helgraf, for all we know its a mason protecting another mason, which is just as likely. Also, you have no evidence that they are pirates, and i think that you might be one. but i think salmon is the more likely pirate, so *continues pointing at salmon*

Almighty Salmon
2007-06-28, 12:25 PM
Oh, and what evidence do you have that i am a pirate Khaldan? :smallconfused: the reason i am pointing at Jontom Xire is because of his completely random way of chosing someone to point at. And you say i chose the first random lynch to point at? The first random lynch was infact was at funkyoder.. by you! So tell me Khaldan, why did you choose to point at him?

Helgraf
2007-06-28, 12:25 PM

*Helgraf points at Jontom Xire* Hey Supagoof, walkin' stick guy talkin' to you.

Thanks Graklok, I''ll go chat with him.

((I have no reason nor dischord (sp) to pointing at Jontom. I'm just curious as to why a bandwagon so quickly formed against him. I was waiting to hear their answers, and yes, it is meant to intimidate to get a pirate to slip up and reveal their role.

Salmon gave his reasoning, and though flaky like the scales of a fish, an honest answer.

Funkyodor was pointing in response to being pointed at - again acceptable as a reason to start the pointing at Jontom.

Timberwolf I'm still waiting on hearing back from. I don't buy the location bit because we're all from different locations, and yet TW joined in as 3rd on the bandwagon. Now 3rd usually implies pirate, but everyone knows that, so why jump in at 3rd unless you A. aren't watching carefully or B. really hope that no one notices or C. weighed out the risk vs. reward factors and decided it was worth it to make the bandwagon official. Even Bookboy saw it was a bandwagon and jumped off just as quickly as he jumped on, especially given the simu-post after my first post with reasoning.

Since we have 2 days to point, and since I like to see how these arguement form before I point, I'll still hold my hand back from pointing, though right now it's leaning towards Timberwolf.

Note that I did not include you in my suspicions Helgraf since you are pointing with the thinking that Jontom and I are in this together. Again I have no reason to trust or not to trust Jontom, so please point away at him or me. I have nothing to hide and have given you no reason to trust my instinct.

I'm not against a bandwagon either - there are three groups that can form one (though the cult is probably only two people at this point...)) I just ask that everyone think through the reasoning behind the points before shooting a finger out there or hitching their points to a wagon.))

@ZP: "No thanks, buddy. I'm fine."

@smellie_hippie: "Gosh, you people sure are persistant, aren't you? Fine. Thanks."
Taking the bathrobe from smellie_hippie, Shadow hands it to Zar Peter.
"I'd be more than happy to accept your offer now, my friend. Thanks."

Quickly undressing ZP before he has a chance to react, Shadow tosses smellie_hippie's robe at him. Without another word, Shadow dons ZP's robe.
Unfortunately for all of the other passengers on the ship, the gnome's robe only reaches to Shadow's waist and not below.
He looks to be wearing an extremely tight, short-sleeved vest and nothing more.
While he's dressing, he turns to Bookboy. "Nope. Didn't get a good look at 'em. All I was seeing was those beautiful ladies from last night. Pretty pictures in my head, lad."

An old woman passes them in the hall with a wry smile at Shadow.
"Hello, Shadow! Coming to the dance contest tonight?"
"Ummm.... Hello, ma'am. You'll probably see me there, sure. Do I know you?"
The old lady giggles and replies "We were a bit tipsy last night weren't we? I'll see you later, hot stuff."

As the old lady continues down the hall, Shadow turns a queer shade of pink.
Upon reaching the galley with the gnome in tow, he orders twenty mimosas.
"Come on folks. I think we all need one of these...."

Supagoof, I had a bandwagon form against me in WW7 with even worse logic so please don't play the rhyme or reason on the 1st day game when, lets just face it, no one has any evidence against anyone else. For that reason, you should be jumping up and down asking and demanding a response from everyone, not just those who voted for Jontom Xire. In fact, you're willingness to come out swinging in favour of him leads me to believe we have a pirate trying to derail a bandwagon on anther pirate. Good guess whoever it was (it's off the page at the bottom by now so I can't easily check and I'm short on time) and Supagoof, unless you have something very convincing to say or something vastly more obvious pops up, you can consider my vote cast against you in the next round.

Umm Timberwolf, if I get lynched, and if I do I will turn out to be a passenger, will you still find Supagoof suspicious for defending me?

Now the last two games I played in I was a werewolf in one and distracted by complex rules and running another game in the other. But in previous games I have been seen to be a canny player with almost as good a knack as Shadow at fingering the bad guys. Now Pirates is a new game to me, but I'm dead in the other two games and finished running the other. A good reason for Pirates to enjoy seeing me lynched. And a good reason for non pirates who know my reputation to want to give me a chance to prove myself.

If I'm a pirate, you can lynch me later. If I'm a citizen I could be useful. So let me live a couple of days at least.

If you lynch me now and I'm a pirate, good for you. If you lynch me now and I'm a passenger, you potentially lose a useful ally.

As a totally OOC note, my Linux server that used to host my avatar has been feeling very poorly for the last couple of months. Does anyone know a good place I can host it so that Supagoof's "Bwue guy" comment makes sense?

Just as an aside, I'd be equally leery of anyone who jumps off of a bandwagon as soon as it becomes one. Wolves/Pirates don't like to be associated with bandwagons of any kind. I'm still not ready to make an accusation, but that's something that's piqued my curiosity.

I'm not just asking a response from you, FYI, but I am reading everyone's response to my logic.

Since you are the third to claim I'm trying to de-rail the Jontom Xire bandwagon because you believe we are in cahoots, fine. SUPAGOOF POINTS AT JONTOM XIRE!
I haven't heard a reason or rhyme from him as to why others would bandwagon on him so quick, but my reason is simply - people think I am protecting him, I'm not. And the fact he hasn't spoken may be him hiding in the coat tails of me speaking loudly or he is also watching how people respond and adjust accordingly.

Even though by your own admission TW, you are a pirate.

She points at Jontom Xire instead, because he's from Southampton and SOuthamptons a port where, logically, there must be pirates.

((I also used to live in Southampton, UK))

Then again, so is Castaras...

Arrr. I'm a pirate. *Waves toy plastic cutlass*

I will point at myself. Because I'm, like, a pirate.

As for first day logic, it can and should be formed. I stated why in my first post today, but here again it is.

I don't believe in the day 1 random jitters simply because there are groups (masons, cult, pirates) who know each other and can gang up on a person - especially if one of them has a seer/devil in their midst and a night to act before any points are made (*cough*pirates*cough*).
So the devil would know who someone is, and would act upon that. The seer & fool have an inkling, but would not know for certain because they both think they are Alarra. The Masons would know each other and could bandwagon because they know each other to be safe as could the pirate, but with the masons they wouldn't have the inkling as to who is who because they don't have a seer with their group yet like the pirates would. I would fathom that to stay hidden the masons would point at many people right now until they have a better understanding of who is who just so they can stay hidden from the pirates.

That is my logic, now how each uses it is up to them. I'm just not scared to share it because I have nothing to lose. (If pirates kill me, meh - Hopefully I got you all to think about how these groups works. If I get lynched, meh - Hopefully I got you all to think about how these groups works.)

Timberwolf - from your response I can assume a lot of things, but I won't state them out loud just yet because they are assumptions and may hinder any chance we have at catching these pirates. Thank you for the response.

edit: That took too long for me to write. Be aware that I may change my post again...

SUPAGOOF POINTS AT JONTOM XIRE!
I haven't heard a reason or rhyme from him as to why others would bandwagon on him so quick...

It's called being asleep. I went to bed not too late after my last post. It's what I do in the evenings and I stay there (apart from short trips to the bog) until morning.

Also I have no idea why people would bandwagon against me except that I'm not a pirate or a mason, so both groups would prefer to bandwagon against me than one of their own.

And the fact he hasn't spoken may be him hiding in the coat tails of me speaking loudly or he is also watching how people respond and adjust accordingly.

More the latter. For those who know me from previous games, I hang in the background for the first round or so until I have a lead, then I present my evidence. No evidence, I continue to hang back. Plus work is quite busyish at the moment.

Since it seems to be required of me just to survive, I will try to find the time today to do a full analysis of the round so far and present my findings later. If I don't it's 'cos I was too busy at work.

Not that I expect it to make much difference.

P.s. I folllowed the link for the rules, but it was just the sign up thread, and the first post had no rules in it. So there's a lot of stuff I don't know like do we get to know how many pirates there are, etc. Do the feuders both know each other?

By my count the votes are currently tied between me and Almighty Salmon, so out of pure self interest I'm going to change my point, even though I don't think he's particularly guilty. I do like sushi though ;)

Jontom Xire points at Almighty Salmon.

Most rapid vote count award goes to BookBoy who actually changed his vote within a single post, and shortly after changed it again. Artemis 97 has also changed her vote a few times.

As bandwagon tactics go, the most supicious positions are 3rd and 4th. That's Timberwolf, BookBoy, and Helgraf for me, and Artemis 97 and FullBladder for Salmon.

Hmm - some names seem to keep cropping up here. The reason there are three names for me is because BookBoy joined and then almost immediately jumped off my bandwagon. That was an interesting little conversation between BookBoy and Artemis a little earlier too. There is DEFINITELY something going on between them, but whether it's because they're seeing each other in real life, or whether they have shared roles (wolves, masons, lovers, take your pick) I'm not sure.

I don't suspect Helgraf. He just doesn't like me. I think that's why he shopped me in WWCIV rather than one of the less active wolves. It felt just like a "well I'm about to get lynched, so I might as well make sure he goes down first because I'm damned if I want to see him recover from this mess" tactic.

Anyway, on with the analysis. SupaGoof's post came at exactly the right time to bring me level with Salmon. However wolves have been known to do that before on critical bandwagons, let alone first day ones, so that doesn't clear either of us really.

Timberwolf voted for me at position three for a very silly reason, and has since been very vocal in attacking not only me but anyone who tries to defend me, namely SupaGoof, leading to SupaGoof voting for me just to protect himself.

So to summarise, the most suspicious people in my opinion are:

Timberwolf
Artemis 97
BookBoy

I will also be keeping an eye on those who conspicuously DIDN'T join a bandwagon.

Well, looks like my early, random point will be called into scrutiny at some point.

Let it be known now that when I get killed/lynched, I reserve the right to scoff at you all.

Frankly, I think JX is not a wolf at this point. I mean, we could argue all day about tactics and countertactics (ie. the all-too-common accusation of Double-Bluff) but frankly, there's only a few people I'd put it up to to actually pull a double-bluff. Much less a triple-bluff.

Shadow, incidentally, is one of them. As evidenced in WWCIV.

I haven't a clue about the suspicious nature of others, though, so I'm just going to go with a Point at Almighty Salmon, in the hopes of snaring a pirate.

You seem to all want me dead for pointing irrationally, or for my sushi right? Well i'm not really the only one, Nobody has real evidence against anybody yet and everyone is just pointing randomly.

Like Pingcode (I'm not suggesting you're a pirate, im just using you as an example) just 'hopes' im a pirate and points at me, no real evidence - lots of other people have pointed at me but not stated a reason too, i'd like to hear them. Timberwolf voted for me at position three for a very silly reason, and has since been very vocal in attacking not only me but anyone who tries to defend me, namely SupaGoof, leading to SupaGoof voting for me just to protect himself.

So to summarise, the most suspicious people in my opinion are:

Timberwolf
Artemis 97
BookBoy

mate, I voted for you at random using tried, tested and by no means unique 1st day logic. Ie none. You seem to be happy to jump on the Almighty Salmon bandwagon too by the way. On the other hand, your screaming of "I'm not a pirate" and trying to reverse suspicions that I didn't have at first but are now becoming more and more defined as you continue to wriggle and turn is not helping to convince me.. And, as you have quoted, Supagoof has now pointed at you.

Hmmmmm. methinks I see a pirate who doth protest too much.

Oh and Supagoof ? If you're taking where I live now as an admission of piracy, you would be wrong. I lived in Southampton between 01 and 04. I now live in Bath so actually I'm a fat Victorian Landowner, sorry.

((@^ Dangit, I really need to put the [sarcasm] tags around stuff like that. Please note that I said the same is true of Castaras immediately following it....speaking of which))

After speaking with Timberwolf, Supagoof looks around to see the breakfast menu has now changed to Sushi. He wonders why it's not for baked goods, since typically breakfast consists of muffins, toast, waffles, pancakes. Seeing no baker around, he looks at Castaras and her pies.

Well, I prefer pies over sushi for breakfast anyday. Graklok you hungry?

Yeah. Graklok hungwy fer sumting. Maybe pie lady share for bweakfast.

Let's go talk with her then.

Okay, she over der. Graklok says, indicating in her direction.

"That, and we're all pretty hungry. We haven't quite figured out where the kitchen is."

There isn't a kitchen. You don't get kitchens on ships. You need to find the Galley.

TimberWolf, you just made my point for me. Since your point was based on zero logic, why were you so vocal in attacking me, and subsequently Supagoof?

Also, since I know I'm a passenger, you're making yourself mighty suspicious in my eyes.

Oh, and just for reference, I stated exactly why I was so happy to jump on the Salmon bandwagon, although I doubt it would be a mystery to anyone who can count anyway. I have since seriously considered changing my vote to BookBoy on the grounds that I'm actually suspicious of him whereas I'm not suspicious of Salmon. However I want to make sure I don't get lynched. Want to know why?

Name Chance of being a pirate
Jontom Xire 0%
Almighty Salmon 2%
TimberWolf 15%
BookBoy 8%
Artemis 97 10%
Anyone else 2%

These figures are my own personal estimates (apart from the first which isn't an estimate). So if I had to pick one to get lynched I would prefer Timberwolf, but as she has no votes I'll save her for later. Secondly I'd prefer Artemis 97, but she only has one vote. Next I'd pick BookBoy and am considering it. Lastly I'd pick anyone apart from me, particularly if by voting for them I'd actually have a good chance of saving my neck as opposed to wasting my point.

So now you should be in no uncertainty at all as to why I voted for Almighty Salmon, and why doing so does not make me at all suspicious.

Tell ya what, I'm evidently stupid because at no point during your diatribe did I read anything that says why you chose Almighty Salmon in your infinite wisdom. All I see are a load of contrived and inaccurate numbers and a wish list for people who you want lynched. You have said nothing on how you came up with them. So lets assume I'm a toddler and need things explaining in words of 1 syllable

What is your reasoning behind jumping on Almighty Salmon ? I may have voted for you randomly but at least I'm woman enough to cop to it, even if I think my random pick is starting to have more and more strength to it.

So, I ask you again, where is your evidence for saying Almighty Salmon (we've heard all about your inaccurate theory behind me so we don't need to hear it again) is a pirate ?

Shadow
2007-06-29, 09:57 AM
Frankly, I think JX is not a wolf at this point. I mean, we could argue all day about tactics and countertactics (ie. the all-too-common accusation of Double-Bluff) but frankly, there's only a few people I'd put it up to to actually pull a double-bluff. Much less a triple-bluff.

Shadow, incidentally, is one of them. As evidenced in WWCIV.
Heeheeheeheeeeee.....
How quickly you forget, my dear District Attorney, how we first met.
I actually hold what happened in Mafia 3 in much higher regard than getting a boring Seer lynched instead of myself. Even if that Seer had already come forward as the Seer and pointed me out as a Wolf openly.
The situation simply worked to my advantage in that one.
But the Mafia game took more finesse than I even knew that I had.

I consider that one my crowning achievement to date.

Not to pat my own back....

Vonriel returns from his quarters, fully clothed and with a bastard sword slung over his back. What? You expect a guy to walk around unarmed? Listening to the accusations, Vonriel realizes that Bookboy is probably the most suspicious of the choices, and changes his point to him. Let's face it, there's no real evidence that Salmon and Timberwolf are pirates, but Bookboy over here is so keen on remaining unnoticed that something has to be up.

I never said Almighty Salmon was a pirate. In fact, if you actually read what I write instead of just assuming it reads how you want it to read, you would see that I said I thought he WASN'T a pirate.

And to spell it out in words of one syllable:

I am not a bad man. The fish might be. If the fish dies a good man might die or a bad man might die. If I die a good man will die. Do you know the word "certainty". If the fish dies I don't. I vote for the fish so I won't die. I vote for the fish so that there is less chance that a good man will die

If you understand words of more than one syllable, substitute "passenger" for "good man" and "pirate" for "bad man".

Get it yet?

I'm fed up with arguing with people who just don't understand. It isn't worth it. You're wrong, ok? And I think you're suspicious because I have a tendency to see devious plans behind people's twisting of logic, rather than a lack of logical ability.

And if you doubt my logical ability, let me tell you that I'm a senior software engineer and I spend all weekdays every week day using my powers of logic to deduce the causes of bugs and faults in software on the slimmest of evidence - and I'm damn good at it.

Yes I would like a truce. I hate ending up arguing with people in these games. Unfortunately my less attractive but very strong character flaws include amongst them argumentativeness, stubbornness, and basic (massive) inability to let something go. The latter almost amounts to that syndrome thing where you have to keep washing your hands or whatever. Goldarnit, it was on the tip of my mind. I have to argue something out until it comes to a mutually agreed conclusion.

I'll try to keep it under control though (Down, Timothy! Whip-crack!).

As the sun sets over the ocean, the passengers after a long day of drinking, swimming, and hardcore nudity are tired and just want a good night's rest.

Sadly, the only way to ensure a good night's rest is to eliminate El Jaspero and his post stealing pirates. The passengers believe they have their first lead though as they advance slowly towards Bookboy.

Despite his impending doom Bookboy is quick to press select when he hears a beeping in his ear. He bends down on one knee, pressing a finger to his ear.

"What is it? I'm kinda busy at the moment."

"Sna...er...Bookboy. I just wanted to question you about the value of loyalty."

"Look Colonel, now is not the best time...I've got a crew of angry passengers about to throw me overboard."

"Yes, I know. But you remain loyal to the mission Bookboy, and that's why we sent you."

"What mission? I'm just a lonely passenger. My only possible mission would have been to maybe find a nice bookgirl...but it looks like it is not to be."

"There's no time for distractions like that Bookboy, you must stop find the detonation keys and stop Rex."

"Rex? Det...what are you talking about? I'm on a cruise ship, not some Alaskan base."

"What?"

"I'm on vacation Colonel."

"Oh...nevermind then. Good luck."

With that the transmission stops.

Despite the fact that the conversation was quite lengthy when Bookboy looks up again, the other passengers haven't advanced...not even an inch. But as soon as he looks up, the stalking resumes. Bookboy is backed against the rail.

"You're making a big mistake...really."

The passengers aren't listening however, and Bookboy stumbles over the railing to the shark infested waters below.

Somewhere far away you could swear you hear a scream...

"Bookboy? Bookboy? BOOOOOKKKBOOOOYYYYYYY!!!"

Bookboy, a Passenger was lynched. Night begins and will end...sometime. Schedule is iffy due to Indy's trip to Ottawa and the GitP meetup. PM actions to Indy, Alarra, and Atreyu by 11 PM EST Saturday June 30.

You are awakened by the sounds of gunfire echoing throughout the ship. You all scramble around looking for the source of the shots and find HyramGraff's door busted wide open. His bullet-riddled body lays in his bed. A piece of the ceiling above the door and above Hyramgraff's bed both have bullet holes in them as well. On his desk is a piece of paper that says:

R.A.F.

HyramGraff-Air
El Jaspero-HyramGraff
Smellie Hippie-HyramGraff
Pirate 1-HyramGraff
Pirate 2-Air
Pirate 3-HyramGraff

A search of his room turns up little about HyramGraff other than he was a passenger.

HyramGraff was killed during the night. He was a villager. Day begins and will end at 11 PM EST on Tuesday night.

(The above chart does not necessarily reflect the number of pirates.)

Use of red colour would help the narrators.

Mr Llama narrator, wasn't HyramGraff a passenger rather than a villager?

As for me, I'm going to sit back and wait until I have material for analysis, but until something big and obvious comes along, (and Shadow responds to my PM when he has enough time), my suspicions will be as yesterday (minus one of course).

Yes, it helps us and prevents you from being auto-lynched. We do the updates just as we are getting ready for bed, so we usually skim the posts looking for red text.

Mr Llama narrator, wasn't HyramGraff a passenger rather than a villager?

Ummm.......errrrr...hmmmm...well, the thing is.....*cough cough, stall for time*
I have it.

No. It was all part of Hyramgraff's backstory that he was a villager of a island that you all may stop at and was on the cruise ship trying to find people to buy his treasure maps for the secret taco sidequest. The secret taco sidequest was pulled from the main game before the final release of the product, but some elements still remain.

*whew* I think they bought that.

((Darn busy at work today, so I haven't done all the analysis I've wanted too yet. But to get started in the right direction we must answer - A. Who would want HyramGraff dead and B. Who was in on Bookboy's lynching yesterday? Find a correlation and we might have ourselves a pirate. Also, keep in mind as to who would want to kill Shadow night one while answering the other two questions. Let's think before we point people.

*pats own back*

That Mafia game was a work of art. I'm proud to have been a part of that, even in consideration of the fumble turnover - cause in the end, it blinded the townies to our true numbers and they handed us the victory in their haste to purge themselves.

Lordy, that was beautiful *wipes a tear from his eye*

Zar Peter invites Khaldan to an evening beer and tells him about the great story of the famous Mafia III thread, where the Shadow agents managed to took control over nearly every role in the game till one of them send a PM to the wrong person. But somehow nevertheless they won.

Then he locks himself in his room.

These pirates won't get any post counts from me!

Yeah, we won because after my mistake the village was convinced I'd accidentally exposed the entire Shadow Agent roster. So when all that were exposed were dead, they lynched the last Templar, thus handing us the game on the silver platter, since I'd divined the location of the Falcon and instructed our unidentified member to arriange the kill and pickup just before my own death.

That was, if rather bloody by the numbers, still quite the awesome feat.

I'm in agreement with Jontom, except that I put Bookboy at the top of that list because of the rapid multiple changes and I think that whole 3rd position suspicion thing is hogwash. Someone has to be in those spots or we'd never get a lynch.

*I point at Bookboy*

I think this is more suspicious. First Zeb said two times there is not enough to point at someone and then he suddenly follows Jontoms logic who said:

Most rapid vote count award goes to BookBoy who actually changed his vote within a single post, and shortly after changed it again. Artemis 97 has also changed her vote a few times.

As bandwagon tactics go, the most supicious positions are 3rd and 4th. That's Timberwolf, BookBoy, and Helgraf for me, and Artemis 97 and FullBladder for Salmon.

But Jontom also used the 3rd point rule, and changing your vote in the first WW thread you're in should not been mentioned.
I think Zeb wanted to help someone here and in my opinion it was Almighty Salmon and Timberwolf.

Zar Peter sits at the bar of the ship, first class, smoking area. In front of him a glass of beer and Xavier, the waiter who often helped him in alphabetical conversation when X was coming.

If you want to hear their chat, please open the spoiler.

Z: That was an odd day, yesterday, don’t you think so?

X: I’m just a waiter, I don’t get payed for thinking. But, yes, I have to agree. Two bandwaggons suddenly stopped…

Z: Yes, and a third began, rolling over poor Bookboy.

X: By the way: If the bandwaggons weren’t stopped, who would have won?

Z: It was at the time as Almighty Salmon took over the lead…

X: … but suddenly…

Z: …a guarding angle appeared…

X: …Zeb the Troll appeared…

Z: OK, Zeb appeared and said something about Bookboy…

X: ..and there a great bandwaggon began against him and nobody could stop it.

Z: You know the funny thing about it?

X: What?

Z: Bookboy just made rookie mistakes! He changed his vote by editing his first post from Mamagor to Jontom and after that he pointed at Fleeing Coward. But Artemis97 also changed her vote 3 times till Zeb apeared but Zeb pointed at Bookboy!

X: So, what do you mean?

Z: Someone wanted to save Almighty Salmon! He didn’t bother if Jontom were killed, but the time the wheel turned to Almighty Salmon he wanted to save him. But I’m not really sure if Zeb wanted to save Almighty Salmon because they both are pirates or because they both knew each others role.
Normally I rely on my stomach in this games and my stomach says that Zeb could be not guilty. But I have another person who voted with a quite arguable reason.

X: Who?

Z: Vonriel. Listen to his explanation for changing his point from evnafets to Bookboy:

Vonriel returns from his quarters, fully clothed and with a bastard sword slung over his back. What? You expect a guy to walk around unarmed? Listening to the accusations, Vonriel realizes that Bookboy is probably the most suspicious of the choices, and changes his point to him. Let's face it, there's no real evidence that Salmon and Timberwolf are pirates, but Bookboy over here is so keen on remaining unnoticed that something has to be up.

And now tell me : Bookboy flirted with Artemis97, Bookboy drank Soda with Shadow and me, but he tried to keep unnoticed?
I’m not sure about Zeb, but I have a very bad feeling about Vonriel!
And if I’m right, you owe me a drink, Xavier!

X: And you, Mr. Zar Peter, owe me already 5 drinks and 7 beer from your yesterday chat with Mr. Khaldan, as I remember.

conclusion: Zar Peter points at Vonriel

You know Zar, you'd be right, except that I had no intention of starting a bandwagon against bookboy. As he says this, he gets up and takes the seat beside Zar Peter at the bar. As it was, I didn't want to join in against Salmon or Jontom, so I pointed at a third who struck me as being rather sneaky. As soon as I pointed, though, both sides seemed to agree that it would be better to lynch him than continue trying for each other. My innocent point shouldn't have killed him, but it did. Vonriel shrugs, sends a sign for the bartender to pour him a drink. Something strong. I don't like being the person that causes something like that to happen.. The bartender finishes making the drink, and Vonriel promptly downs about a fourth of it. Man, that burns. Good stuff though. Now, Zar, as a token of good faith, I heard you have a rather large tab racked up here. Mind if I take care of that for ya? Vonriel grabs what's left of his drink, leaves more than enough money on the bar to cover both tabs, and walks out on deck.

===EDIT===

Ok, Zar Peter proposed we should inspect Zeb for starting the bandwagon against BookBoy. At that time Almighty Salmon was headed for the sushi bar. Now I'd like to pre-empt all those that want to see me lynched by pointing out that this theory makes me look pretty suspicious too.

The point is, the stakes were as follows when the following people switched votes:

Voter AS before BB before AS after BB after
Jontom Xire 9 3 8 4
Akaziel 8 5 7 6
Pingcode 7 7 6 8
Khaldan 6 8 5 9

Of those I find Akaziel and Pingcode most suspicious.

Anyway Pingcode20 has to concentrate on running Revolution III soon, so Jontom Xire points at Pingcode20.

Note that this theory implicates Almighty Salmon, and to a lesser degree, Zeb. If Pingcode IS a pirate, Almighty Salmon goes next.

Second note, I definitely look like I was pushing the BookBoy bandwagon, and the reason for that is that I was. I freely admit it. I thought Bookboy was suspicious and at that time I didn't think Almighty Salmon was. I did the wrong thing for the best of reasons, but I wasn't trying to save the Salmon as much as I was trying to lynch BookBoy.

Also, Jontom, I didn't think you were trying to do either. I thought you were working awfully hard to keep yourself alive, rather than letting us see how stupid we were by lynching a villager. Yeah, I know, there are some people who don't sit back and watch as the inevitable happens, knowing that the rest of the villagers will feel dumb when they lynch another villager. )) ((I have a inclination to trust Jontom. And first round reasoning is usually randomn because most games start on the first day rather then night. This game is different. It started at night, thus giving the pirates a kill, which should lead the rest of us with ideas as to whom and why. So the first day was based on who would kill Shadow (I assume the pirates to be amongst others who have played in games with him, such as Mafia and Werewolves) and who would be with bandwagons.

With the bandwagon on Bookboy, Vonriel and Almighty Salmon were the 3rd and 4th to point, so that put's you as suspicious on my list. Then again, there is the death of HyramGraff from night 2. So to add to my suspicion list I must place Artemis97.

However, picking a kill that would directly lead to a pirate would be foolish, and I don't believe the pirates to do that. But I do believe that someone pointing at Artemis97 may be a pirate as backing to the cause. So Mal is on my suspicious list as well.

Top of my list though is Vonriel, so I will point at him for now.))

Umm, I kinda took it as read that Akaziel would be on the lynch list as well if Pingcode was a pirate, but it is possible that Akaziel just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (as it is also possible for Pingcode). If Pingcode is a pirate, then Almighty Salmon becomes more suspicious than Akaziel.

Also the fact that Salmon was pointed at by Pingcode doesn't in any way make him less suspicious. Maybe in the first few werewolf/clone games that was true, but I think most players now realise that a bit of random pointing at each other is a good way to try to break up voting patterns or any semblance of alliance. In most games these days I look for people who pointed at each other or pointed at people who later turned out to be wolves, than I do those who don't point. It's not so much who you point at as when. Although even that doesn't always work. There was one game when a werewolf pointed at another werewolf at a critical moment where if he hadn't pointed someone else would have been lynched.

As to your last point, yes I did work fairly hard to save myself. However I think the "he defended himself really hard so he must be pirate/werewolf" is now considered as invalid as the "he didn't defend himself at all so he must be a pirate/werewolf" argument. The number of times it has been pointed out in previous games that this is a lose/lose situation for the person being targetted is massive. I enjoy (on the whole) playing these games. I am also the sort of person who does anything he likes or is interested in 100%. I run up and down staircases and walk fast everywhere I go. It's just the kind of guy I am. Another reason why I post humoungously long posts and then re-read them to try and iron out every last typo and punctuation error.

(( I see, though I still don't necessarily agree with your logic. Maybe if pingcode didn't end up a pirate, I'd agree. After recent events in WWC4, though, it'd be a little too risky to attempt a lynching of lots of wolves to try and get people to trust you.

Supagoof, I voted for bookboy because he wasn't in danger of lynching at the time, and I didn't think Jontom or Salmon were particularly suspicious. It was only after I pointed that everyone else decided to join me. ))

Vonriel slowly makes his way back to the bar with his empty glass, stumbling a few times before finally steadying himself against a table. I.. uhh.. I don't know what was in that.. but never again.. He manages to slump into a chair, holding his head. Ungh, what's going on now? Goof is pointing at me? Erk, this is what I get.. Poor kid, why'd I do that..

(( Oh, one last question: Who decided and how long ago did they decide that the third vote = wolf? ))

((Alright, we can agree there would be some benefit if I was lynched and turned out to be a pirate, yes? However, what benefit will there be when I'm lynched and turn out to be a passenger?

If you can demonstrate that someone will clearly be implicated if I turn out to be a passenger, I'll gladly have myself lynched to set the executioner's axe on a pirate.

For now I will point at Pingcode, but I must warn you that currently my death will implicate no-one. I know I'm not a pirate, but there's no way I could prove that to anyone, without making contact with the seer.

Of course, this statement will obviously be seized upon to accuse me, but I'd prefer my death help flush out pirates than simply being a random kill-off.

EDIT: And... why are you referring to me as a pirate in the past tense :smalleek: I'm not a pirate!))

Often times it happens
That we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key

B-Man crawls out of his cabin, looking terrible.

He straightens himself up and looks at Zeb, who is pointing at him.

YOU'RE AFTER ME COFFEE!!!

It looks like everyone has taken this "third post == pirate" theory far two seriously. We have like 6 people sitting on 2 votes each. Artemis, Calamity, FleeingCoward, JontomXire, Pingcode20, Vontriel

c'mon whose brave enough to point one of those people up to 3???

I'll change. Artemis97 points at JontomXire. You're the one who started all this bandwagon, third post, piratical nonsense. I think you're trying to mess with our heads and turn us all against each other. That's what got Bookboy killed.

Shadow
2007-07-03, 08:26 PM
Shadow steps out from the pub where he's been drinking all day, hidden in the corner.
Well, steps out is a relative term.
It's more like he was thrown out by the bouncers after getting a little too touchy-feely with one of the cocktail waitress'.

"And stay out!"

*THUD*

Picking himself up, Shadow dusts of his.... well, all he has is his rapier, so he dusts that off.

"Jusht sho you guysh all knowsh. I been complying.... compliant.... compli.... I been puttin togedder a lisht of you alls thatsh coming along nicshly. I think you're alls on da wrong trachsh.

Well, maybes not alls of ya, but alots. I thinksh that we should be goin affer the quiet onesh right nowsh...."

Shadow then passes out on the deck, fully exposed while his rapier falls from his fingers *towards Calamity.

AHA!!! Third post == pirate!
ARTEMIS IS A PIRATE

evnafets points at Artemis.

Hold on - I'm the third person to point at Artemis. I MUST BE A PIRATE TOO!
evnafets points at evnafets

Hold on a sec there, I'm not a pirate. I know I'm not a pirate. Why am I pointing at myself?
Ok, take a deep breath now. Stop waving that finger around. relax.

While Jontom Xire WAS among the first to suggest Bookboy (not the first to point, but bringing up his name as suspicious) I mainly put that down to the fact that his head was on the block. He was just being Jontom. He can't seem to get off a single post in any of these games without offending someone :-) So I don't think Jontom is a pirate. Who does that leave?

Out of all those who have two votes currently, Vonriel gets my vote.

As part of my master plan to systematically get myself lynched spectacularly, I point at Vonriel as well, calling my earlier self-point into question and eventually bringing about my own downfall at some point in the future when someone decides to take offense at something I write and decides I'm suspicious.

The simu-ninja watches but can barely keep up with all the fingers and accusations flying about on the ship.

"It was strange indeed how the bandwagon turned so quickly on the boy yesterday. There may be a number of explanations for that, but I think we could glean some useful information from knowing the role of the fish in all this. And I say this for the good of the ship of course... it has nothing whatsoever to do with my love of sushi."

* Ink points at Almighty Salmon

Spotting Shadow passed out on the floor, Ink gets a blanket from the nearest cabin and rolls Shadow up in it, tucking the ends tightly at the back so that only his head is poking out of the bundle.

"There. That should save a lot of innocent passengers from the urge to gouge their eyes out."

Madmal

I believe that Vonriel can be innocent; JX, on the other side, has proven to know his ways into the WW (and variants) game...besides, the initial phase is mostly based of accusations derived from hunches and small feuds from other games...

*Mal points at JX, to even the score :smalltongue:

(The criteria for Pirates is that someone most receive at least 25% of the vote to be killed after 48 hours has pasted. No one has hit the 25% mark, so we are extending voting by a day. However, whoever has the most votes on Wednesday at Approx 11:00 PM EST, will be thrown overboard, regardless of percentage.

Also, we have 4 people up for auto-lynching.)

I'm sorry Jontom, but it's you or me. And, personally, I don't want to dine with the fishes tonight. Vonriel sighs and points at Jontom Xire.

I totally understand, and share your sentiment, Vonriel. So...

Jontom Xire points at Vonriel.

I'm finding it very odd that several otherwise active people haven't (according to my spreadsheet anyway) voted yet.

Akaziel
Helgraf
Timberwolf

Others who are rarely active also haven't voted:

Calamity
Captain van der Decken
Eldritch Knight
Khaldan
Lord Fullbladder
Lord Magtok

I wonder if these are trying to slide under the radar.

Ok, last-ditch effort time. I think I'll start out by noting patterns in the voting today. Everyone pointing at Jontom right now has done so for their own reasons, not for anything I've said. That should say that he's the more suspicious of us, but even if it doesn't, let me continue: Half the people pointing at me are claiming that they're letting Jontom lead them around by the nose. One of them pointing at me is doing so for ulterior reasons. And three have actually given some reasoning behind why they're doing so. Jontom, of course, because he is a master of inventing evidence against someone to lead a lynch mob to kill them. Think about it: How many times has evidence actually shown a wolf this early? There have been two nights and one day so far. Jontom is pulling this stuff out of his backside, folks. And you're blindly following him.

I'd say "think for yourself" to those pointing at me, but I imagine that with such numbers, there's a 50-50 chance that Jontom is either a pirate or a cult member, and they're backing him up because they want to save one of their own. And before you even bring up masons, recall that in these games the inclination is toward "teamwork = wolf, kill kill kill!" so the masons have to do their best to not overtly work together like these people are doing, because they'll then be targetted by both wolves and villagers.

Since I understand the desire to play the game to its fullest, I won't bring up how hard he's worked to get me dead. In fact, I want to stay alive as much as he wants to kill me. But, that's just it, isn't it? I want to stay alive, he wants me dead. He's even gone so far to invent his "proof" so he can lead you on to accomplish that goal.

For you villagers, I'd also like to note that Calamity was available as an alternative to pointing at me, since everyone seems to trust Jontom even though he strikes me as the fool to shadow's seer :smallamused: (Ok, I admit, that last bit was just so I could make the pun, but it seemed like it would just fit so well :smalltongue: )

I'm done now. Vote where you will.

Captain van der Decken

I wonder if these are trying to slide under the radar.

(I'd like to point out that whether or not I post now, I'm going to look conspicuous. So I may as well.)

Between JX and Von, it's hard to be certain who to point at, but I have an inclination to point at Jontom. Lots of people seem to be just trusting him, and following his lead. Kinda strikes me as odd.

Calamity
2007-07-04, 01:03 PM
Geez, I didn't realise that writng a novel would prove my innocence...
I have already said that if I'm being quiet it is not intentional, and whatever I say seems to never be heard.

I point at Almighty_Salmon because I have been suspicious of him since the first round, and both he and Jontom Xire escaped being lynched quite late on. Because it was Zeb who saved their lives (althought at that point it was mainly Jontom Xire's life that was saved) and Artemis97's erratic pointing (although I'm willing to say that it is just her getting used to the game) I have four main suspects:

1. Almighty Salmon
2. Zeb the Troll
3. Jontom Xire
4. Artemis97

EDIT: Excuse me Jontom Xire? I am invisible!? I have already pointed at Almighty Salmon.
