Detect Sarcasm
Divination
Level: Sor/Wiz 1, Brd 1, Pal 5
Components: V, M
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: Self
Target: 60 foot circle
Duration: concentration plus 1 minute per level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

While the spell lasts, the caster will be able to discern whether someone he hears speaking, or some text he reads, is or is not sarcastic. This effect gives a +2 circumstance bonus to bluff and diplomacy checks against sarcastic people. At his option, any creature (or text) within the target area can be made to glow softly, so as to indicate to other people who is being sarcastic. This spell does not confer understanding of otherwise-unknown languages, beyond knowing whether or not they're used sarcastically.

The material component is a grain of salt.

Tee-Hee... that's as funny as it is useful. I'm surprised no one has come up with that one before. Good job.

Now that I think about it, all of my above praise could be interpreted as pure sarcasm. Hmm, do you cast Detect Sarcasm (which could also be called Detect Sincerity), or do you perform a Sense Motive check?

The material component is a grain of salt.

Aint that the truth. All knowledge should be taken with a grain of salt.

Don't forget to put a descriptor. Most likely it would be [Language-Dependant].

This'd actually be pretty good to combine with a language learning system, as sarcasm in a foreign language is damned hard to catch.
