Week One (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=895752)

First of all i want to thank you all for the input

One thing you may want to keep in mind is that creating a dnd campaign setting is a truly obscene amount of work, and for sanity's sake you might not want to worry about art until you get most of your letterwork done.

This guy got me thinking that my original idea (doing the art, then going to descriptions) was a pretty absurd one, if i wanted you to collaborate (it can be done but asking for input is the hard part)

So i decided that i should tell you a intro to the setting; (I'll try to stay as close as possible to the WoTC style when writting this)

Introduction:

Welcome to "name pending" Campaign Setting, a realm of magic and filled with forces beyond the comprehension of the PCs designed specially for the Dungeons & Dragons game.
The features that set "name pending" appart are the narrative approach, encourage of role-playing and special focus on the character alignments.

The idea behind the development of this setting is that it's story elements and game mechanics should entwine to become one, it will introduce a extended alignment system, not to blur the distinctions between them in a sea of grays, but to introduce a great amount of hues of Black and White.
We will leave the dice behind and introduce Arete; the PCs, NPCs, and BBEGs will have control of their success, letting them succed when it's convenient to the story, and also fail when it will create more tension. Nothing is more anticlimatic than a one round fight between the Heroes and the BBEG, because the evil overlord, master of reality and powers beyond, failed a save against a save-or-suck spell.

Arete it's the notion of excellence bound up with the notion of the fulfillment of purpose; the act of living up to one's full potential. This setting will push you to be the greatets Hero... or Villian. (this is the fluff name, it's the card system i was thinking about)

The World:

"name pending" is in eternal tension, continually at the edge of crisis. Mystical, Natural, even Mechanical forces struggle to shape the world to their will, it's a constant cycle of destruction and rebirth, a millstone in perpetual motion grinding reality. Animals, Humanoids, even Gods are at risk, will they make it to the next age? who will be lord of the reality?
The story develops on the Age of "Goat God", God of Nature and Shadows (note: this is a explanation why druids are neutral, they want things to stay the way they are). He commanded all natures animals, trees, and spirits to revolt against the Dragons, ultimately ascending to the upper planes and taking down "dragon god" (note: Reason why dragons are greedy powermongers, they all want to be the next Dragon God).

There are 19 other ascended entities, some old as the universe, pulling the strings from the background. Some scheming to gather domains and followers to become the lords of a new age.

Will your characters join a cause? or ascend to become gods themselves? (i'll try to figure out a mechanic to do so, something involving at least 21 wishes and a battle between the ascended beign and a god, crazy_monkey is right, killing gods is fun, if it's fun it should be here)

Ah by the way, what i wanted to ask you... can you think of a name for this setting?

Anyway as i promised i'll upload some art for you to see :-) (of course you can tell me what you think about it)

A hydra, a collage made with a chicken, a komodo dragon and a alligator (artwork originally asked by Jimbob, from Giant in the Playground forums, but never claimed, could be the kind of artwork i'll use for a monstrous compendium)

a.- I could rule that most dragons on my campaign are evil
