After seeing AOKost's Ring Guardian (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?529100-PEACH-New-Guardian-Familiar-concept), I've been inspired to make another familiar. Power level was balanced against the Imp and Lantern Archon.

A uraeus is a celestial serpent devoted to the protection and advancement of worthy heroes and causes. They often serve mortal wizard-sovereigns of noble intent who have selected the Improved Familiar feat.

In combat a uraeus uses its protective spell-like abilities first, then spits venom to blind and eventually kill its foes. Afterwards they tend to their wounds and those of their allies.

A uraeus's natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as good-aligned and lawful-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Combat Abilities
Poison (Ex)
Injury or contact, Fortitude DC 13, initial and secondary damage 1d4 Con and blindness for 1 round. The save DC is Constitution-based and includes a +2 racial bonus.

Shed Skin (Su)
Once per hour a uraeus may shed its skin as a full-round action. Each time it does so it heals hitpoints and ability damage as though it had received complete bed rest for a full day. Furthermore, all ability drain it has suffered is converted to ability damage (which it can then heal naturally or by shedding its skin again) and any drained levels it has suffered are converted back to negative levels (allowing it another Fortitude save to remove them).

Spit (Ex)
A uraeus can spit its venom up to 30 feet as a standard action. This is a ranged touch attack with no range increment. Opponents hit by this attack must make successful saves (see above) to avoid the effect.

Unearthly Grace (Su)
A uraeus adds it's Charisma modifier as a bonus to its saving throws and as a deflection bonus to its Armour Class.

Spell-like abilities
At will - detect chaos/evil/good/law, detect magic, detect poison; 3/day lesser restoration, protection from evil, slow poison; 1/day death ward, freedom of movement. Caster level 7th.

Skills
A uraeus has a +4 racial bonus on Hide, Listen, and Spot checks and a +8 racial bonus on Balance and Climb checks. A uraeus can always choose to take 10 on a Climb check, even if rushed or threatened. A uraeus uses either their Strength modifier or Dexterity modifier for Climb checks, whichever is higher. A uraeus has a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line.

Wadjet
It is rumoured that a uraeus of great age and power grows into a mighty wadjet, gaining sorcerous powers and the ability to constrict foes. (possibly to be posted)

Nekhbet
It is also said that a wadjet sometimes forms an alliance with a mighty celestial roc known as a nekhbet, and that together they may watch over a worthy mortal sovereign and its kingdom.
