Howdy folks,
I tried this out awhile ago and it didn't work so well, so I figured I'd give it another go. Bassically we'll create a town organically via posts, where we'll establish town leaders, enemies and the like. I'll lay out the ground rules...

- Established by a mid level group of adventurers, lets say a Rogue, a Wizard, and a Fighter all around level 6. I'll leave it to the rest of you to develop them.

-It can be started anywhere, although the Western Heartlands would be pretty neat.

- No major Realms NPCs please. Lets create our own mythos.

- Each poster will advance the story in 4 month blocks. Starting say, the Year after the Time of Troubles.

- Lets keep it a reletively good aligned town (this doesn't mean evil doesn't exist, just that they generally follow good principles.

Now, I won't be able to check in until later tonight, or possibly tommorow morning (gaming day as it happens)

The town was founded as a hovel about 210 years ago and now has a Population of about 1000-1250. It was built along a trade route between a Port City and A major City so it get's alot of travelers meening there's alway's news of possible adventure's.

The rogue founder is buried under the local bank, it is said in the dead of night his spirit counts the coins. Many who work there late have heard his old, rasping voice.

The fighter founder was never found dead, he just vanished one day. It is thought he went on a final adventure, unwilling to die of old age.

The wizard founder is buried in a great trap-filled tomb on top of a hill overlooking the town. The carved text on his tomb changes yearly, most believe it's just a clever trick, others think the wizard can send messages to the land of the living though them.
The current text reads, "As dawn to dusk. Expansion turns to war. Look to the moon not the sun."

The town has a large population of people with psionic potential and powers because of the influence of a great Psion who came to live there 80 years ago and started his own family.

The town has a medium sized (80-90 fighters being trained at a time) Fighter's Academy, built next to a pub. The Fighter's Academy was founded by the adventurers, specifically the Fighter (whose name (OOC:am I allowed to do this?) was Fred.) The pub has a young barmiad, named Miranda, that the young fighters constantly leer over.

Hmm, one more thing.

The pub next to the The Fighter's Academy is named the Hag's Head.

The town does not yet know it but the only thing stopping a large group of orcs from attacking the town is a number of ancient wards that prevent the orcs from coming with in a few miles of the town. The only problem is that the wards are being studied by a group of wizards who do not know what the wards do, but only sense in them strong magic and there experiments may be weakening the wards.

Miranda is secretly an apprentice to a very powerful wizard, who is also part of the group expiramenting on the wards, and she is trying to find where Fred is buried, so the wizard can ressurect him in case of the orcs finding their way around whatever barrier is preventing them from attacking (he doesn't know it's the wards.)

Some say the head of the Fighter's Academy knows where the Fred is buried.

on the edge of town lies their temple. In it resides two sanctuaries, one to each of the two dieties they acknowledge, Siphlic and Karnac.

Siphlic is known as the god of the living, the god of order, the god of goodness, and the god of healing. Both Monks and Clerics are in the Siphlic Order. Currently the town is without a Monk, the last having died in recent years, but she left a strict handbook should any want to follow the footsteps of the Monk after she had reached enlightenment and passed on. Only a cleric, and his three trainees preside over the rituals to Siphlic. Siphlic's symbol is rising sun.

Karnac is known as the god of the dead (or of death), the god of chaos, the god of trickery, and the god of war. Only Clerics preside over the altar of Karnac, and there are only two at any given point. People typically only pay their respects to Karnac when someone close to them has died and they're wanting safe passage to the afterlife for the departed. Karnac's symbol is the waning moon.

Many in the town, spurred on by Karnac's devoted followers, believe that the founder wizards tomb is trying to tell them that they should be following Karnac instead of Siphlic with the inscription of
"As dawn to dusk. Expansion turns to war. Look to the moon not the sun."

The rogue’s name was, or he claimed it was, Harrid Ruintower. His fellow adventurers called him Harrid Half-Helled. Whethor this is a simple nickname or a note that the man was in fact a cambion, a half demon born from a succubus, is unknown...

The town has an elite, expensive college for "scouting, trap-dodging and the necessities of nightly activities”, built by the rogue, named the House of the Quick. They are well liked for their scouting skills and the aid they often give to the poor, ill and mad. Where that money comes from is unknown.
Hand carved, rather shakily, by Harrid himself on the House of the Quick's door reads, "Gold o' de Gold! I ave but sort it forver an a day. First it goes to the kin, den to the misfartunate, den to thee. So be well an rich me chieldren"

Recently, a sign has been posted on the main road leading through the town with a decree from the mayor banning any bards from venturing into town. One such bard thought this was some cruel joke and came into town anyway, he was soon lead off and placed in the stocks by the town hall.

Most people don't know how or why this came about, and the mayor isn't very forthcoming with information.

Levistus Bo'Daris was the name of the wizard founder, not the most powerful wizard of his time, in his later years he was more famous for his stories and he authored one of the best selling books of all time, Strange Work, a three part fantasy novel about the ancient elven wizards of the south.
He also wrote;
The Chorus of the Banshee
The Pheonix's Other Egg
Broad, Spanning Footprints of Gods
Elderly Satyr Retetye
The Court of the Dragon King

Fred, the Warrior, was actually more a swashbuckling one using rapier and buckler than a tin-can paragon. But mythology did its best to change the facts, and so it came to pass that Fred is described as a whirlwind of steel and mithral, able to drop a dozen enemies in the blink of an eye without even one stain of dirt or blood on his mithral full plate.
Up to the present day, many a warrior has sought the tomb of the Fred, which is said to hold his mithral breastplate and his mighty Bidenhander sword.
Suffice to say, that none found the tomb until today...

This person just happened to be the young bard who had been put in the stockades earlier. For some reason, the bard looks amazingly like Fred, and, deciding to scare the crap out of the mayor, takes up the mantle of the swashbuckling fighter.
Walking into town, he dazzles everyone with a few skillful sword tricks, and tells them that, he, "Fred" the "Fighter" has made an amazing recovery, and will now protect the town from now on.
Edit: The bard is not related to Fred at all. In fact, the bard is a half-orc.
