The Slayer
https://i.imgur.com/wDLIcBa.jpg
In every generation there is a Chosen One.
She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness.
She is the Slayer.

Slayer Feats
Slayer Potential [General]
You have potential you may never fully realise.

Prerequisites
Human, female, must be taken at 1st level, Charisma 12.

Benefits
Once per day as an immediate action, you may gain a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls and a +4 dodge bonus to your Armor Class. These bonuses last until the end of the encounter but only apply against monsters of types other than animal or humanoid. The bonuses also apply against humanoids with an evil aura (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/blackguard.htm#auraofEvil) (e.g. blackguards, evil clerics, etc.).

You can gain the slayer template, at the DM's option.

The Chosen One [General]
You have inherited the blessing (and curse) of the Slayer.

Prerequisites
Human, female, Slayer Potential, cannot be taken after 3rd level, Charisma 12.

Benefits
You gain the Slayer template (at the DM's option).
Slayer (Template)
Creating A Slayer
"Slayer" is an acquired template that can be added to any human female with the Slayer Potential and The Chosen One feats (referred to hereafter as the base creature).

A slayer uses all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

Size and Type
The base creature gains the augmented subtype. Otherwise unchanged.

Speed
A slayer gains a +10 foot bonus to her movement speed.

Special Attacks
A slayer retains all the special attacks of the base creature, with the following modifications.

Sense Evil (Sp)
A slayer can sense the presence of unnatural evil at will, as if by a combined detect evil and detect undead. This ability does not function against humanoids (even evil ones), unless they have an evil aura (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/blackguard.htm#auraofEvil) (e.g. blackguards, evil clerics, etc.).

Special Qualities
A slayer retains all the special qualities of the base creature, with the following modifications.

Awakened Potential (Su)
A slayer always benefits from her Potential Slayer feat (she need not activate it).

Doomed (Ex)
It is a slayer's destiny to war against the forces of evil, a war that inevitably attracts enemies beyond her mettle. Her level is increased by +2 when the DM is determining level-appropriate challenges. Slayers die young.

Dreams (Su)
A slayer is tormented by portentous dreams that warn her of future conflicts with great evil. Once per month she receives the benefit of a nebulous divination or legend lore warning her about a nemesis, while also suffering a nightmare. This ability is fully under the DM's control.

Rapid Healing (Su)
A slayer heals hit points and ability damage every hour as well as every day.

Abilities
Increase from the base creature as follows: Con +2, Strength +8, Dex +2.

Skills
A slayer gains a +8 racial bonus on all Balance, Climb, Jump, and Swim checks.

Feats
A slayer gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat.

Environment
Any. A slayer's mission can take her many places.

Organisation
Solitary plus her Watcher handler (an NPC Expert who guides her), if any. However, a slayer who gains other allies may overcome her Doom...

Challenge Rating
Same as base creature +1

Alignment
As base creature, though her Doom may drive her to become bitter or even malevolent.

Level Adjustment
Same as base creature.
Slayer (Class)
Prerequisites:
To become a Slayer, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Alignment
Any.

Race
Human.

Feats
Slayer Potential, The Chosen One.

Special
Female, Slayer Template.

Hit Die: d12

Class Skills
The Slayer's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Concentration (Con), Escape Artist (Dex), Gather Information (Cha), Hide (Dex), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Knowledge (arcana, dungeoneering, local, nature, religion, the planes) (Int), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Search (Int), Sense Motive (Wis), Speak Language (None), Spellcraft (Int), Spot (Wis), Survival (Wis), Swim (Str), Tumble (Dex), Use Magic Device (Cha), and Use Rope (Dex).

Skill Points per Level: 4 + Int modifier

Class Features
All of the following are class features of the slayer.

Weapon and Armour Proficiencies
Slayers are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, but not with any type of armour or shield. A slayer is also proficent with stakes and may use them in conjunction with her flurry of blows class feature.

Exotic weapon, 1d4 damage/x2, against vampires they improve to 1d4/(18-20)/x4 (can score critical hits against vampires).
Favoured Enemy (Ex)
As the ranger class feature, though the slayer may not select humanoids or animals as slayer favoured enemies.

Martial Artist (Ex)
At first level, a slayer gains an AC bonus, flurry of blows (including greater flurry at 10th level), and unarmed strike as a monk. If the slayer possesses levels of monk, her levels of slayer count as actual monk levels for determining her flurry of blows bonus, unarmed damage, and monk AC bonus.

For the purpose of qualifying for feats (e.g. Weapon Specialisation) and using them (e.g. Stunning Fist), levels of slayer count as both levels of fighter and as levels of monk.

Evasion (Ex)
As the rogue class feature.

Slayer Lore (Ex)
Beginning at 2nd level, a Slayer adds her class level to Knowledge checks to determine the characteristics and weaknesses of creatures. She may not make such checks untrained.

Bonus Feats (Ex)
As fighter bonus feats.

Damage Reduction (Ex)
At 4th level a slayer gains damage reduction 5/-. This improves to damage reduction 10/- at 8th level.

Stake Mastery (Ex)
At 7th level, a slayer can dispatch vampires with ease. While wielding a stake, her critical threat range is doubled and she does an additional 8d6 points of damage whenever she scores a critical hit against a vampire (this extra damage is not multiplied as normal for a critical hit).

Uncanny Dodge (Ex)
As the rogue class feature.

To Do
Reduce template power level (even give LA+1?), rearrange class features (if not worth going for full 10 levels currently), brew stake feats.

Also add "a level in an NPC class" to feat/class prerequisites ("Slayers come from humble beginnings").

Never seen buffy the vampire slayer (think that's what this is from?) but these look really nice, why do you have two feats that have the chance to give you the template :smallconfused:

Why oh why do you have to be human :smalltongue:

I think I detect a copy-paste error.

Ha, I missed that when I read it ><

EDIT:
Thoughts on everything:
+30 on the checks from the template seem... absurd? I would cut it down to +10, +20 tops... or make it scale maybe...

In the spoiler you should say that stakes are an exotic weapon, while that is the intention (I think) the stat block does not actually say so.

Slayer Lore: Maybe give them something similar to the archivist's ability?

DR: Nobody's writing home about (just as barbarian)

Stake Mastery: uhm... Ouch? You should add whether or not the threat range stacks with keen/improved critical. Just because of this I would make the stake do 1d6, or reduce this to d4's but that's a personal opinion... and doesn't make much sense now that I think about it :smallamused:

Indeed not; it's pretty clearly based on Sneak Attack or a scout's skirmish damage, both of which are automatically d6s and neither of which has anything to do with the die type used by the weapon normally.

Yeah, I know, not sure what was going on with me there, something just felt off XD

Yeah it's from Buffy! (hence having to be a human female below a certain level).

In the series, there are multiple "Potentials" (hence the Potential feat). However, only one Potential at a time can become a Slayer (hence the Chosen One). Also, they work as semi-feat taxes to justify the power of the template and class.

Whoops! How embarrassing... fixed now :D

I'll set them at +8 racial bonuses, the usual cap for templates. The +30 is a holdover from a time when I calculated the slayer would need +30 to make a certain jump in the show, haha :D

I'll rewrite the stake portion.

DR-I'll buff this.

Slayer Lore: It's not meant to provide a numerical bonus in combat as much as a "we need Xitem to kill X monster", so I'll leave it in this milder form.

Stake Mastery: I'll rewrite with Sneak Attack phrasing (save that it ignores vampire crit immunity).

Ah, they look good, that DR is how the base barbarian's should have been XD
