ALIGNMENT

I've already asked this in a previous post so I'm summing it up here. We've decided to get rid of the alignment system in Pathfinder as it doesn't exactly suit our needs. Instead we've replaced it with several new systems we created.

Reputation

This replaces the good/evil system in character alignment as majority of the characters, PC and NPC alike tend to be morally complex. Instead, there will be a "reputation" system that will determine whether or not they are seen as heroes or villains by other people. We acknowledge that this can be easily subverted as some people have better reputations than others as some of the most evil of people can look like good guys with the right amount of publicity.

Also note that in the ongoing story of Soulfinder in World-Building, there are undoubtedly "evil" characters but are rarely referred to as such.

NOTE: This is how best to sum up the system
• +3, +4, +5, +6, +7=Good
• -2, -1, 0, +1, +2=Neutral
• -3, -4, -5, -6, -7=Evil

Noteriety

This replaces the law/chaos system. This works more or less like the notoriety systems in games like Skyrim, GTA and Saint's Row in that if it's high enough, you get a lot of help from cops but none from criminals and, if low enough, you get help from criminals and get pursued by cops. Notoriety changes from place to place but there is also the "global notoriety" we're working on wherein, depending on your notoriety, other places (cities and towns) will react accordingly to you.

As another note, you also gain notoriety depending on what faction you appease or anger, the rest of which will be discussed in a different post.

NOTE: This is how best to sum up the system
• +3, +4, +5, +6, +7=Lawful
• -2, -1, 0, +1, +2=Neutral
• -3, -4, -5, -6, -7=Chaotic

Eternals

I remember someone saying something about paladins and their "detect evil" spells as well as a few others which are dependent on alignment. We've come up with a different set of creatures or beings that can alleviate some of the confusion of what we're doing. So, we've come up with "Eternals" who more or less replace some of the "Outsider" races of Pathfinder.

Note however that these beings aren't purely what their alignments are. Unlike the Outsiders, they all have free will like mortals and can be of any alignment. You could just as soon end up with a badly disorganized alraune or an evil valravn who revels in cruelty. However, magic and other arts associated with them still apply.

SUPERNALS
Male:Valravn
Female:Valkyrie

Beings from the Supernal Worlds who descend to aid and guide mortals to doing good.

Produces Aasimars with mortals.

AGRESTALS
Male: Faun
Female: Nymph

Beings of the Agrestal Worlds who are, with their deep connection with nature, are a chaotic lot.

Produces Changelings with mortals.

INFERNALS
Male: Incubus
Female: Succubus

Beings of the Infernal Worlds who, despite their fearsome reputations, are mostly just refugees trying to escape their fate.

Produces Tieflings with mortals.

EMPYREALS
Male: Tutelary
Female: Alraune

Beings of the Empyreal World who may appear superficially organic but are actually mechanical and are dedicated to law and order.

Produces Androids with mortals.

RACES

Another thing to note would be the races we've added and replaced to better suit our adventures and tales.

Orcs

Like some of my players said, why only use "half-orcs" when you can use the whole thing. Orcs are a playable race in our own constructed world of Nemelreth. They are a war-like race that often hire themselves out as mercenaries. They also look less like traditional D&D orcs and resemble those from Lineage II instead.

Trolls

We've also decided to replace half-elves with trolls that more or less come from Shadowrun, Earthdawn and Tales of Arcana. They are known for their great size and burliness and are only slightly shorter than half-giants or goliaths. They are also more attractive than the trolls of D&D and look more or less like the trolls of Shadowrun and Tales of Arcana. While not as war-like as orcs, they are still widely feared by other races because of their strength and resilience which is rightly so.

Goliaths

These are just renamed half-giants as we liked "goliath" a lot more than simply "half-giant".
