Kicking our asphalt.

8.5 quake off the SW edge of Sumatra. 750km away in Singapore, I could feel like my couch was being rocked by someone.

Feel free to link any news articles you find. Hopefully, there won't be too much side-effect(tsunamis etc.).

Here's the wikinews article: Linky! (http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Massive_7.9_earthquake_strikes_Indonesia%3B_Tsunam i_generated)

It seems there is a tsunami, but it's not clear if it has done/will do any serious damage.

Looks like the Tsunami is much smaller than the one of 2004 - no reports of it making landfall yet. Good luck out there to everone in the Indian Ocean region.

Sumatra got about 1-3 metres of wave, but apparently there was no significant damage caused. I'm more wondering what it'll look like when it hits India, Bangladesh, Australia, etc.

I don't think it's heading to Oz. Given where it occured(southwestern coast of the peninsula), it's heading towards the Atlantic, Antarctic, and maybe a little towards India.

It's not really doing anything to me, because I'm shielded by the rest of Sumatra. So far there's fire and collapsed buildings in Indonesia.:smallfrown:

That could create issues depending on where... :smallfrown:
