View Full Version : D&D 5e/Next Looking for a class/subclass worthy for the King of Orcs

I am looking for a class for a character, who's ultimate goal is to become the King of Orcs. To do so, he needs to beat all tripe leaders in duels and make it to the orcish capital alive with their heads.

As my DM is pretty open to homebrew, I would like to try something, that I can't play in other campaigns.

So I am looking for a class or subclass, that fullfills the following:
- str as a main stat
- not reliant on heavy armor
- some out-of-combat utility (does not need to be much, but at least a little bit)
- flavorfull and fitting for an orc king
- decent in duells (no support class)
- something supernatural (Dragons, Abominations, Elements, Ancestor spirits, Demons, whatever...)

If you happen to know any cool homebrew class or subclass, that fits this description, please let me know.

Well, it sounds like you're looking for a Barbarian, so maybe my Path of Shifting Fury (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?574731-Path-of-Shifting-Fury-(Transforming-Barbarian-subclass))? When you rage, you take on aspects of a demon, beast, or giant. My Path of the Fist (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?574886-Path-of-the-Fist-(Barbarian-Subclass))is less supernatural, but oughta kick all the ass in duels.

Also got a Fighter archetype (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?577150-Fighter-Archetypes-Balefire-Knight-and-Marshal)that can replace weapon attacks with blasts of fire (or another element), and a potion-brewer (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?575946-Fighter-Archetypes-Mutation-Warrior-and-Bladebound)who can mix up special hulk-up steroid juice for themselves.

Going even farther, my Steelsworn (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?565529-The-Steelsworn-Grod-s-obligatory-arcane-half-caster-%28and-anti-Ranger-%29)is an arcane half-caster with medium armor. Their fluff is weighted towards civilization and cities, but it certainly fits the bill for a non-standard supernatural Str-based face-beater.

Alternative approach, take a look at my Prestige Option homebrew in my signature.

Basically it swaps around certain main stats of specific classes, but tacks on a requirement or two to keep things balanced.

The one I'm recommending is:

Way of the Closed Fist:
You can take the Monk, using your Strength modifier in place of your Dexterity modifier for your Monk features.
Requirement: The only Monk subclass available to you is the Way of the Open Palm.

Gain AC by stacking Strength and Wisdom.
Knock enemies prone with your fists then grapple them with your high Strength.
Tack on a level of Barbarian for enhanced durability and better grapples.
All the out-of-combat versatility of a Monk (including running on walls).

My Stalwart (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?367048-Wrestling-Mountains-The-Stalwart) is a great class for big, heavy bruiser types that's built to be unarmored, and its Golem path pulls in a lot of supernatural 'anti-magic' flavor.

If you end up going with it, let me know how it plays. I love getting playtest data.

this is 5e and i can't read please ignore
