Vengeance
Almighty Salmon and Calamity are revived, but only for 3 rounds! They come back with all the skills they purchased, as well as full Psi and DP. If one of them would lose a life, that spirit prematurely dissipates. They cannot use Bloodlust, nor are they affected by players using Bloodlust.
Also, their actions can be dictated by their (live) partner (well, it's not like it's any different normally).

Bloodlust: Attack+++++, Damage+++++

Temporal Distortion is temporarily cleared up while Vengeance is in effect.

1st place: Team Blue (Almighty Salmon and Fleeing Coward)
2nd place: Team Pink (Dr Bath and Calamity)
3rd place: Team Red (Fredricus and Captain van der Decken) (I think? Excuse me whilst I investigate the archives)

Well, that was a pretty long Gladiator. Shows that people like to gang up on other people and luck can pwn high stats. I declare this thread the official discussion thread! Also trophies and large picture-thing to come.

Also, gladiators! I call upon your opinions! Who do you think was...
...the strongest warrior?
...the smartest team?
...the most, uh, supportive? helpful?
...and the overall best gladiator?

'Strongest' refers to overall average damage. Basically the most damage where it would hurt the most.
'Smartest' refers to strategy. The team with the best tactics goes here.
'Supportive' refers to buffs. Stuff like Shield Other, Cure Wounds, most shouts, etc.
'Best,' well, who in your opinion performed the best? Fleeing Coward was the survivor and champion, but maybe you can think of someone who, had he a little bit more luck, or a little less unpopularity with the rest, or a bit more luck with the Inactivity Lions, might have won.

Voting (and discussion, and feedback) starts now!

My own thoughts on skills and rules:

I cannot think of an incarnation of Twin Power in which it wouldn't be either monstrously powerful or pathetically weak, so it's probably going out.
I'm rethinking initiative rules*
Iron Palm**
Removing Stun from Sneak Attack effects
Shout target amount cap (perhaps 3)
I probably need to clean up the rules page
Go for the eyes is crap***
Need to clarify Sneak attack and Vanguard strike
Shield body needs to have a downside

*Basically, same as now, but vitality for damage is only rolled at the end of the round. One is only interrupted if a life-damage effect is used, or damage exceeds vitality, or a specific effect that disrupts actions.
**I'm thinking the three damage from IP only applies once (so even with multiple IPers you only take 3 damage)
***What about, if Attack>Defense, add the difference to Damage

Dangit! So close! My cunning ploy failed. But still. Well played, Fleeing Coward. Your staying beneath the radar really payed off in the end game.

the strongest warrior - Calamity
the smartest team - Fredricus and Captain van der Decken
the most supportive - Fredricus
best gladiator - Captain van der Decken

Awesome trophy. Good to see I'm shouting in it...

I agree with most of those rule changes, but with Iron Palm, perhaps the damage inflicted reduces by one with each additional person? so I person: 3 damage, 2 people: 5 damage (3+2), 3 people: 6 damage (3+2+1), going to a minimum of 1 damage.

On the initiative thing, wouldn't that mean that going first gives virtually no advantage? since you can't prevent an action by causing them to lose a life.

Anyway, good game everyone! Perhaps next round my partner won't get fed up and leave the forums halfway through...

Abardam
2008-03-01, 08:53 AM
Yes Bath I think you are cursed with that. Anyway, I like the Iron Palm thing, but how about 3 damage plus 1 damage per extra guy?
And, re: initiative; certain skills could disrupt actions, and if you deal over-vitality damage, that also disrupts, etc.

Dr. Bath
2008-03-01, 09:09 AM
That sounds quite good, on both counts. It depowers the charge! ability slightly, but that was kinda needed.

One other thing, with the shouts, some of the cooldowns were too long for it to be worth using anything other than charge!, possibly the most used ability in this game ever. The shout limit is quite good, I think three or four people sounds about right. Otherwise you end up with half the players on one team and the other half on the other, which is a little dull.

With the sheild body thing, perhaps make it a stance, or attack instead? Or even make it defense- or something instead, since it's a little overpowered.

Fredricus

It's over. Been away for over a week and it's over.

Best Gladiator: Captain van der Decken

Oh, yeah: I'm taking a break from running Gladiator. (Someone wants to run one, go ahead.) Voting'll stay up until I have at least 50% at which point I will get off my lazy ass and make more banners.

@Bath: I'd say Shield Body's not good enough to be a stance, but it's too good as is, so maybe a new class of skill? Free action or something like that, and it'd give, yeah, Def- or something if one opts to use it in a round.
