Something completely silly, of course. :smallamused:

Smite Catgirl
Evocation/Necromancy (Death)
Level: Clr2, Death2, Pal1, Sor/Wiz2
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close
Effect: Ray
Target: Catgirl
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

A thin, pink ray of pure science springs from your pointing finger. You must make a successful ranged touch attack to hit.

The spell effect depends on the type of target. A being that has been Transformed into a Catgirl by a magical spell will have the spell dismissed. A being that is a "natural" Catgirl will take 2d6 points of damage per caster level. Any Catgirl reduced to 0 or fewer hit points by this spell is entirely disintegrated.

Only the first creature or object struck can be affected; that is, the ray affects only one target per casting.

Material Component
One small fragment of a page from a science textbook.

----------

...my first attempt at anything like this, so help in refining this bit of silliness would be appreciated.

It should be a save-or-die spell for cat girls

I'd figure that on a "real" catgirl, it should function more like Dismissal (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/dismissal.htm), 'cept she'd be banished back to whatever saccharine anime spawned 'er. That or she just winks out of existence.

What about Catfolk? Do they count as catgirls?

I love it! But why oh why is a magic-user shooting rays of pure science?

Because whenever you bring up real science in the discussion of a fantasy universe, God kills a catgirl. Please, think of the catgirls.

I like it, except "Ray of Science" is about as scientific as "Magic Missile". But I guess that's part of the joke...

The material component needs to be a piece of paper from a scientific textbook.

That's not Kawaii at all!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I must object to the use of the spell.

I support this spell and it's use in everyday interaction with catgirls.

I expected this spell to turn off gravity or something... Huh. :smallconfused:

The material component should be a pinch of raw antimatter.
And it should be a cleric spell. For obvious reasons.

Or Druid.

I thought "Smite Catgirl" was that one Epic Creation with the antimatter?

I added "of pure science" to the fluff at literally the last second, partially because science is the most deadly substance known to catgirls, and partially because it was just too funny. :smallwink:

I've fiddled with the levels a bit, and included the excellent suggestion for the materials component (the first one, not the antimatter :smalltongue:).

Making it a disintrigrate or dismissal spell might be interesting, but I want it to be a rather low-level spell. (Also, what happens if you're already in your target's home plane?) Now, if somebody wants to write up Greater Smite Catgirl... :smallamused:

Glad I could help.

For a very specialised 2nd level spell, it is extremely weak. Take Scorching Ray for example. It can do a potential 12d6 points of damage without the target needing to be a catgirl.

Thanks for the help. Would 2d6 per caster level work better? (i.e. 4d6 for a clr or sorc/wiz baseline, but a Pal1 would be just 2d6).

Yes, better. By why should a paladin have it? Unless it is a paladin of Mystra, guarding magic.

But why should a paladin have it?
Because it's a spell is meant to deal with unholy abominations. :smalltongue:

Shouldn't it be 2d6 points of science damage? (hey, it's better than the bacon damage from Dragon Fable...)

As for banishing catgirls, we'd need something like a planar spell.
