Ring V - OotS-Style comic itp

Besides the fast of there being at least 3 up-and-running webcomics other than the giants... Me and my friend VespeRatavo are now attempting a run at creating our own. I'll be doing the art and helping out Vespe with the script.

No, this wasn't a spur-of-the-moment idea in conjunction with the recent spike in playgrounder created webcomics. We have been wanting to do a webcomic for some time now. Just so happened to happen at such a coincidental time.

Updates may likely occur up to twice a week, but who knows. <__< Probably during weekends.

Nice. I liked it so far. Just a little nitpick. Should the mom's speech bubble in the last panel be dashed? I think that usually denotes a whisper. As far as I've seen, a normal bubble without a speech line would be fine, especially since the character refers to the speaker as "mom" in his next line.

EDIT: Curse my inadequate monitor! Does the character's last bubble say "I shouldn't have played WoW last night"?

I wasnt sure what an off-panel dialogue should be put as. So i just put dashed lines.

If you want it to seem like it's coming from off-side, have the speech bubble itself shoved to the side it's off of. Adjust the rest of the speech so that it'd still make sense - cut the panel into two if you must.

Another hint - if you're going to use speech bubbles (I don't), it's a good idea to keep the text centralized. Left- or right-angled text is hard to work into a circle.

Other than that? It's far better than my first try. Keep it up.

I'd just like to say I love what you've done with the comic so far. The poster (or whatever it is) on the wall that breaks the fourht wall is awesome, and so is the idea of AMEN being an evil fraternity. I love it, and I'm really hoping for a cameo appearance as an AMENite. :smallbiggrin:

The thing about this webcomic is that it involves playgrounders. Now everyone wants a cameo appearance. xD

We havent thought so far as to cameo appearances. They probably will only happen as spur-of-the-moment thingies. But those spurs come around alot. :smallwink:

I never really thought of which year the character vespe was in. But we'll probably find a way to sneak that into the comic to make it more canonical or something.

Me and vespe are scrambling over a christmas special. And guess what? We're adding characters! But i guess ill finish up the current script. (Well, we make up the script as we go on. :smalltongue: )

I mean, your character has a much higher chance to be a long running character rather than a one-strip cameo. That way i dont need to keep drawing random npc-ish people.

This is a strip about playgrounders, and we need playgrounding characters for that. (Lol, i love the word "playgrounding")

And you could perhaps mention what kind of personality you have. Or else we will stereotype you by your avatar and other things we know about you. (e.g. Ichneumon as some wasp-chesspiece girl.)

My avatar without the sword or belt, He is kinda Curious but is really smart (like me:smallbiggrin: ) and is a nerd and/or geek. He likes star wars (If that is possible in your comic) and enjoys making lego models.

Edit: Oh yeah, Me has some friends that actually arent as much of a geek as he is, and some of his friends call him Sizzle (Cause it is usually easier to say than his actual name). He is usually happy and doesn't care about his grades too much (an A- is fine).

Darkblade, something based upon my old Dijinatar(Its over there <--). A new guy type kid but is dangerously into counter-culture, pointless rebellion and other forms of "sticking it to the man" his major claim to fame is being a sawshbuckler(not pirate)/ninja doing Robin Hood/Zorro type things in his spare time and possibly a member of the HALO frat if they ever show up in the comic.

My avatar is not just a drummer boy. It's Ringo Starr of the Beatles.

There's an AMEN raistlin in the spoiler in my sig. However, it's a bit outdated, and Raistlin has changed since it was made.

He's got the same unruly brown hair and skin/eyes. However, his sword is on his back, and his guitar is in his hands. He's wearing dark blue jeans, and a black concert T-shirt (Guns N' Roses for example, or Iron Maiden.). He's got a pair of drumsticks in his pocket, and a wears a dark red top hat.

Also, if you ever show his room, it would have a bed, and Xbox, and a bunch of instruments. Guitars, pianos, bass', drums, a microphone, and probably a bunch of other stuff.

From what I can see here:

It appears that it starts off as a circle. The circle is then turned into a path using Cntrl+Shift+C and the addition of nodes allows a void to be made inside. Another, empty, circle is made and fitted to the inside of the ring created from the first circle.

After that, a couple extra nodes, some splitting, and Cntrl+K, makes an object that can be infront and behind of another object(s) simultaneously.

Yes, haruki-kun is right. Our original idea had something to do with "the adventures of mr.saturn and vespe"...but that didnt flow very well. As the name evolved, it eventually became "Ring V", to look like we weren't so conceited of ourselves.

I can't say that OotS made me laugh as much as other do. I can't say that my own comic (Ring V) makes me laugh as others do, or any comic in general.

But I still enjoy them. Alot of times i think jokes are exaggerated over the internet. Do you really "laugh out loud" when you type "LOL"? Most of the time I do not, but I type it anyways.

I try to make this comic funny, but I'm no expert. As long as people like it, and as long as I have extra time to draw a comic, I'll continue to do so. :smallsmile:

He was my first avatar, but after I started making my own (and the Alchemists WW game), I've been using a State Alchemist. The cyborg was a Frank Archer version. But hey, a cameo! And I didn't even pay!

Mr. Saturn asked me to make a filler comic yesterday, and I was up until 3 AM last night. This comic was thrown together in approximately 5 seconds.
