As Hiram bends to buckle his last boot, there is a scream inside the Red tent.
"Murder! Murder!! The priest killed the Prince!"

Immediately the camp jumps to action.

Somewhere in the jungle Valdis hears this, but could careless as she shares more with Fiheera.

Arha

Arha, when she realized the wine was a bit stronger than expected, drank less of it...

When the cry goes out, she jumps up, her skin turns black and her eyes silver. She scans the encampment, (she can now see invisible).

Sharon

Sharon sighs as the hue and cry is raised, and approaches Hiram, ready to help defend the priest should it become necessary. "Seems like there's always something to delay or distract us," she says, sounding marginally irritated.

Late Morning, Day after camping in Jungle. It is Fall, humid, hot, with showers on the way. Probably still eight miles from Trading Post.

Lockhart

((Lockhart, as well, is known for partying harder than he drinks, and wouldn't let himself get too intoxicated if he catches it in time, not sure if that's a roll or anything. He's got a pretty good stomach for it either way.))

Hearing the cries go up, the giant orc would leap immediately into action, leaping over heads if necessary ((Jump [roll0])) to reach Hiram's side. Drawing his massive spiked chain, he will snarl a challenge at anyone nearby who seems to be threatening them, and will pull them off their feet with his chain if they get to close, but refrain from lethal damage until combat is joined in earnest.

Jendra

(Earlier)

Jendra responds to Hiram's leered invitation with a noncommittal look; one begins to wonder what it would take to inspire any kind of feeling in her. She accepts a drink, but makes no effort to be talkative, speaking when spoken to and otherwise keeping to herself.

(Now)

On hearing the hue and cry, Jendra slips quietly towards the priest. True or not, she's being paid to do a job, and she'll do it.

Arha immediately becomes aware of even more humans in the trees when she changes form! The dark robed wizards do take notice of her.

Lockhart leaps up and lands near Hiram near the entrance to the Red Tent. Lockhart can't really see through the folds from here.

Sonny rolls to his feet, and grabs a nearby young wizard. Sonny has the wizard in a head-lock before he can act. {DM action}

All hell breaks loose once Lockhart lands and Sonny grabs the wizard. Many wizards launch a varying amount of violet magic missiles at Arha. Some of them getting through her spell resistance! {d:33} She feels pain from many all around her.
"Kill the wizards! They are the dangerous ones!" Calls out one old wizard with a long white beard.

With Arha taking some pain, Sonny's weak prisoner is useless and he snaps the poor lad's neck. A few soldiers jump and attack Sonny with swords, a strong guy actually pains Sonny's arm with a nasty slice! {d:6}

Lockhart and Hiram near the tent feel their minds totally scanned psionically. The voice tells them to run! It sounds like an elf.

One priestess reveals herself as she casts a spell, hiding invisibly among the many wizards was a drow priestess of Lloth. She and the priestesses of Tiamat net Sharon and entangle her in a sticky net. {Sharon is entangled!} There are 5 priestesses of Tiamat aiding the drow.

Jendra finds soldiers going after her, but one slows the others by tripping over a jug and falling flat on his face!

{away in a jungle pond} Valdis will suddenly snap out of it, as the priestess looks pained and sad. "Oh no..." she gasps as if she felt the death of the Prince himself. "Will you help me...? I have lost my ward... punishment is death..." She looks very scared, as Valdis' clouded mind returns. She is mostly garbed... except in the right places... meaning she could go to battle nearly fully armored with her privates exposed, and soaking wet. As if to prove her loyalty, Fiheera transforms to a red dragon!

Sharon is nearby Hiram in the center of camp. Jendra can help fight priestesses, as Sharon is grappled very close to her. There are opponents everywhere!

Hiram will see the dead Prince on the bed. The blonde Northern teen had a dagger. The Prince was tied in some auto-erotic asphyxiation pose. His neck tied off and cut open, his arms tied behind his back. There is no sign of the Yuanese 'whore'... Hiram will see the deep dark blue eyes of the elf here, and can see she is reading his mind with no effort. He seems to have calmed things here, but he also hears noises of soldiers fighting in the jungle.

Battle is erupting with targets everywhere!

Valdis

Valdis narrows her eyes, not exactly trusting at the moment.
"You put me under a charm without my consent and now you want my willing loyalty?"
Still, the woman did seem honest enough, and Valdis was pretty sure she had the upper hand in this situation, despite what one might think. A few clues had snapped together in her head.
"I'll aid you... but you owe me for this. What do you need to do?"
Valdis begins adjusting her clothing to cover herself.

Hiram

((If she just scanned me, she knows what Hiram is about to do.))

"Silence her," he hisses to his companions outside the door.

Using his circlet, he assumes the guise of Heron. Naked and bleeding here and there.

He steps back out of the tent and bellows, "What in all the hells are you doing!!?! You'd slay my guests on the word of an hysterical whore? Yes, Hiram did this to me. I'm fine. I enjoyed it."

Sharon is very irritated by the entanglement spell and lashes out at the amassed group of wizards and priestesses, sending a crackling ball of energy into their midst. She gauges it as best she can to not hurt allies, but is more intent on causing pain to those attacking her.

(Casting Fireball, Electricity substitution. Will ensure that the blast doesn't catch Arha for sure, but will be less concerned about accidentally catching other allies in the blast, instead concentrating on maximizing damage to targets.

Lockhart

RAGE!!! Redness fills Lockhart's vision as he falls into the first stage of the Allfather's war-frenzy, and he enters his battle-dance with lethal grace.

Right now Lockhart's in Rage, but not Battle Fury; it's still an option but one to save for a bit longer.

Tactics are thus: If there's a significant enemy within 15' (preference for that old longhair who was calling out orders), Lockhart will 5' step towards them, and attempt a trip attack ( on the touch attack, [roll1d20+12 on the opposed strength, with attack and [roll]2d4+2d6+12 damage on the free follow through). If possible, he'll use his second attack similarly on another spellcaster within range ( on the touch attack, [roll1d20+12 on the opposed strength, with attack and [roll]2d4+2d6+12 damage on the free follow through). He gets up to 4 attacks of opportunity, out to 10' away, and all will use the same rolls. Preference is on spellcasters for targets.

Jendra

The camp bursts into the chaos of an uncontrolled brawl all around her, and an irritated Jendra tries to remove herself from the center of it as her shortsword slips into her hand. She's always hated being outnumbered: the key to consistently surviving fights was to have surprise or superior numbers. Failing that, teamwork.

Sharon seems to be handling herself fine, and Jendra doesn't care to attract the attention of six mages at once. She circles around to where the big orc is bellowing as he cuts swathes through the wizards, and attempts to stab one of them in the back, following it up with a vicious kick to the side of his leg.

Move to try to flank one of the wizards with Lockhart (or any target she can flank), tumbling if necessary to avoid attacks of opportunity (Tumble [roll0]). Using Snap Kick to make an unarmed attack as well as an armed attack, both at -2.

Sword [roll1], damage [roll2], sneak attack [roll3]
Kick [roll4], damage [roll5], sneak attack [roll6]

Any enemy struck by a sneak attack must make a Fortitude save, DC=total damage dealt, or be treated as if staggered (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/conditionSummary.htm#staggered) next round (may only take one action, and not a full-round action).

Arha notices that the drow girl is the featured attacker on Sharon. So, far nothing magical, but 6 girls on a net has made things tough for Sharon. Unfortunately, the enervation ray dissipates against the natural spell resistance of the drow.

The closest person Lockhart senses that might be dangerous is a wizard that is flying perhaps a little too low. Lockhart cuts this man down easily, and the wizard drifts to the ground slower than the drops of blood that flow from him.
{Another dead wizard} This one looked to be in his late 20's with a dark beard.

Sonny moves on the priestesses and grapples the strong drow girl. She is tough, but he manages to pull her off the net, and get the attention of the other priestesses on Sharon.

The wizards that fly go higher and Arha is targeted by a bunch more magic missiles! {d:16} Not all the wizards attack her this round, and less missiles get through her defense this time!

Lockhart is hit with a lightning bolt from a young wizard above, and manages to take the whole pain of it! {d:22 lightning}
Sonny finds himself swarmed by women, though not in anyway he'd want. The deft fighter fends them off.

Hiram feels a charm from the blue-haired elf, but resists her.
Jendra fends off trained soldiers with ease.

{Away in the Jungle} The red dragon, Fiheera smiles, "Get on my back." The dragon will majestically bow her head, and offer for Valdis to mount her. When she is on, they will lift into the air and zoom off!

Sharon is still in the net, but the the net is now not held by anyone. She launches her electro-ball into a grouping of wizards, and slays 4 with the blast! Though many more 'gnats' zooming about the air, not necessarily capable of casting the Fly spell themselves.

Jendra moves on one of the red armored priestesses and kicks her to death! The priestess clatters to the ground.

The slow-moving Hiram changes form before the ladies in the tent trying his best to keep them at ease. The moment he emerges as the Prince, arrows fly from all around the woods toward him. His strong armor protects him, but chaos abounds as the Prince's staff now doesn't know what to do. There are now other people in the jungle! Archers with poison arrows.

Arha swears, and Sharon will recognize a feeling of desperation in her voice. She looks up, knowing, that unless something happens, she will go down with the next set of magic missiles.

She looks through the flying mages that target her and aims for the most likely one. She casts Lightning Bolt, willing it to take him out, at least one...

Lockhart

Roaring at the cowardly gnats, Lockhart takes the second step in the battle-dance, becoming half-beast in his fury. Midnight-black feathers seem to rise up out of his body, his face seems to take the appearance of a bird of prey, and his his warcry takes on an inhuman character. Abandoning his position blocking physical access to Hiram and Jendra, he takes a soaring leap at the drow, attempting to catch her with his chain and slam her straight into the ground itself.

Lockhart's now in Rage + Hybrid mode; he'll need to drop Hybrid to go Battle Fury, but right now the dangers of taking that third step in the dance is greater than the risks of fighting without it...

Out of sight, he does what a priest of war would do. He draws his sword and casts Divine Power.

The soldiers panic and hold off as the Prince showed himself, however the drow priestess curses loudly. "Fools! That's the priest!" Not all heard her, but confusion still makes the camp quite confusing.

Arha sees one of the three missile wizards was still flying about. She zaps him, but can only get one as the rest are spread all over. He still manages to avoid much of the damage.

Lockhart changes form and crushes the drow priestess with his attack, she is heavily damaged!

Sonny clocks another priestess with a good kick, but doesn't take her down.

The drow priestess steps five feet and casts Sanctuary. She looks with fear at the raging Orc. The other priestesses try to cast hold spells on the raging orc, but he manages to shrug off these spells much to their dismay.

The wizards see Arha is weak and she is pelted by the wizard she just hit with lightning! {d:8 low rolls...} Arha is dropped freeing up the wizards for other attacks. A few will hit Sharon with some magic missiles. {d:16} Lockhart feels some pain too, as he notices his rage is drawing fire. {d:16}
Jendra is minorly scratched by a soldier that tries to get her attention. {d:3}
Hiram in the tent will see that the teens here do not attack, but watch him intently. Still no sign of the hot Yuanese girl.

{Airborne on Dragon} Valdis finds herself zipping through the air at a blinding speed. She's never seen this jungle from this angle, and can actually see the walled city far away, and almost the entire island as she is taken high into the sky.

Sharon wiggles her way to Arha, the battle versus the priestesses happened right above them, and the drow priestess was trying to slip away. Arha looks a little better once Sharon puts the potion down her throat, but it isn't enough. {+3}

Jendra is able to ignore the drow's Sanctuary, and snaps her neck with a swift kick, and neck chop. The drow priestess crumples to the jungle floor.

The dark blue maned elf is scared as Hiram draws close to her. Hiram can tell these girls are more powerful than they let on... but they make no actions against the cleric. They almost seem impressed by his power.

Sharon, Sonny, and Lockhart will realize that the arrows from the jungle archers are now firing on them. Sonny {d:6} and Lockhart{d:7} are both struck, but it is the poison burning through their veins that is the problem. Lockhart shrugs off the effects, but the spider venom on the arrow freezes Sonny up, and he can feel it try to stop his heart. {-7 to strength!}

Disliking the odds of two attacking forces, Sharon casts Greater Invisibility on herself, then pours another potion (Still CLW, don't have anything better) down Arha's throat. With a feral snarl sounding like an enraged owlbear, Lockhart finishes ripping apart the drow. If there's still time, he will grab Arha's body and make for cover. ((Rolls are here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4980163&postcount=279); as always, any enemy who moves within 10' of him gets the same treatment in the form of AoO's. Jendra

The battle is going a little better than she would have thought at first, Jendra thinks as she slips her shortsword out of the drow's flank. Lockhart was a good fellow to have around, attracting all the attention and giving her the openings she needed. She did wish someone would kill the flying mages, but they hadn't done anything to her just yet.

She darts behind a pair of the armored priestesses as they back away from Lockhart, and opens with a blow to the side, putting the priestess off-balance before she slashes at her back.

Once again, getting into flanking position, preferably behind the priestesses. If possible, Jendra will try to threaten two, so that she can attack both if her first attack kills the priestess and to give Lockhart flanking next round. Tumble if necessary (DC 15): [roll0]

Darklady: Potion, spell, and movement might be too much. How?

DarkLadyOfTheSith
2008-09-24, 03:11 PM
(Retrieving items from her haversack is a move-equivalent action. I was figuring she'd grabbed at least two from the sack while she moved the first time (in the previous round), since they're small and will fit in one hand. So spell is standard, feeding the potion is move-equiv, and 5'step is 5'step. If that doesn't work, then let me know and I'll change it.

EDIT: Upon a little digging, feeding a potion to an unconscious person is a full-round action, so I guess she goes invisible, and fishes one out to be delivered next round.)

Sonny

Sonny feels his strenght leaving him. In this state, he can barely protect the wizard ladies, so he choses to get the attention to himself. He picks an already injured target. He lets the feeling of cold death embrace him, and then he directs the hollowness towards his pray.

Ranged touch [roll0]
Eldritch blast [roll1]

He tries to be impressive, even shouting: "You want to play with the arcane?!"

His not mastered his ability enough to cause much damage, but it may be good for a diversion, as the others, not struck by the blast, won't know it's power, and an already heavily wounded target will feel it more powerful than it really is. He reckognizes Keraf's voice, but pays no attention for now.

"Stop it." He tells the telepath. "Now cut him down and cover him up. There's a chance we'll all survive this, though I doubt it." he adds darkly.

Trusting his sword and spells to keep the harpies at bay for another few seconds, Hiram steps closer to the door and begins a summoning.

((Hiram's thinking right now that reading minds is dangerous business, and that he wouldn't hesitate to cut her down if he though she found out something interesting.

Normally it's a standard action to dismiss a spell (the disguise self), but can he revert to his normal appearance faster by removing the circlet?))

Lockhart sees the drow looks to be dying. In the confusion near the center of camp the orc swoops up the injured wizard and takes her for cover into the brush.

Sonny blasts a nearby priestess in red scale, and causes her a little pain.

The camp attackers are in disarray, and no-one in the Red tent seems to want to threaten Hiram. Out of the shadows the Yuanese girl turns visible as she strikes out at Hiram's throat! Around the camp the rest of the Prince's staff is falling. One of the remaining preistesses yells angrily, "This is a trick! We're on your side!!"
This only causes chaos, inside the women hear the priestess, and look with confusion and fear at the weakened Hiram. {OOC- It should be strength loss on Hiram.}

Valdis sees the camp whizzing up at her as the dragon races downward. The dragon looks to be landing right on top of the Red Tent next round. {OOC- Fiheera is a huge dragon, but young.}

In the confusion in the camp Sharon disappears, and gets her potion out. She follows Lockhart who has Arha now in the cover of the bush.

Jendra... {Has an option, she could execute one of the priestesses or change her action... Retro and put next round's action as well}

Hiram, not with the best of hearing, and in the heat of battle slices up the would-be assassin, before she cries out in pain... bleeding pretty bad from Hiram's cuts. "Wait! I mistake! We with you too!" Hiram might find that hard to believe with the Prince laying dead in his bed. The elf cuts down the Prince's ties, and looks up as if she knows something is coming above the tent.

Lockhart will see a familiar fat man bounding up. DelaTourre is running fast through the woods hacking up the Prince's soldiers, but making a bee-line for the orc! More arrows fly in, one strikes Lockhart, but once again the poison doesn't faze him.{d:4} Others bounce off his armor, as archers seem to be all over.

More arrows fly in at Sonny. One hits! {d:8 +poison failed} This one is also poisoned, and he can feel as more of his strength is sapped from him! {-6 Str.} This might drop Sonny... {OOC- I no longer have his PC link...}

(Retro)

The priestess's shout coincides with Jendra's realization that the archers, whoever they are, are killing both the camp soldiers and her companions. She chooses to believe the priestesses for now; they can always kill them once the ambush is dealt with, if it proves to be a lie. She follows the big orc at a run, taking cover from the archers in the brush.

Note- Lockhart is faster than Jendra, so if he's going at a full run, she might not be able to keep up; in that case, she'd fall back towards the entrance of the tent she saw Hiram go in and try to get out of the archers' line of fire there. Jendra

Jendra's annoyance increases as she notices the dragon swooping downward towards the camp. Why couldn't they keep giving me simple jobs? She readies herself to try and dive out of the way if the dragon proves hostile.

Readied action to move out of the way if the dragon attacks. If it uses a breath weapon or landing on top of the tent, she'll just move out of the area; if it's attacking her individually, she'll try to duck inside or around the tent, to at least get some cover or concealment.

Arha is out cold.

Lockhart sees DeLaTourre will be on him soon. He holds with his swinging spiked chain ready to strike!

Sonny moves and glares at the archers. He can see they are hooded half-elves of Yuanese human descent. These guys are often part of any rebel gang.

The wizards are all either dead or hiding, but no-one has seen them for some time. The 2 living/standing priestesses rush for cover behind some of the other tents. "She's not in there!" shouts one priestess to the red dragon, in draconic.

"I'm not interested in her. I want the psionic elf!" roars the red dragon in draconic.

The camp guard is totally useless now.

Valdis stomach lifts into her neck as the dragon swoops down and snatches the tent. Those inside are almost scooped up, but Fiheera managed to only nab two ladies like a net. Hiram, the blue elf, and the couple other ladies are knocked over as the whole tent is carried off, ripping poles, and Hiram finds himself lucky to be unharmed, he's now by another tent of the large camp.
Valdis finds that Fiheera plans to fly back and go for what looks to be the blue elf sitting near Hiram.

Sharon takes Arha into her arms and brings her back, by dumping her potion down her throat. {+6} Arha is conscious! {She'll act now.} Both ladies are low for stray arrows are a danger!

Jendra is about ready to leap when the dragon rips the entire red tent up, pulling the poles and whipping ropes about dangerously! Hiram and a couple ladies come tumbling out. All in the camp will see the dark blue haired elf plop onto the ground near Hiram. The great bed flies and crushes an empty tent.

Paused action here----->
Lockhart will surely hurt DeLaTourre, but it is not critical, and he will get a full post up when a few actions have been resolved.

Hiram casts sanctuary, the dark blue haired elf looks at him with much respect through deep, dark vacant blue eyes. Her eyes seem ancient and wise, and perhaps have seen too much.

Lockhart hacks hard into DeLaTourre, now without his fancy yellow hat. DeLaTourre wears chain armor, but he seems to be made of leather. Although Lockhart hurt the fat man a little, most of his tub seemed to absorb the damage. In fact, Lockhart has to pull away his sword or risk it sticking in the folds of this surprisingly fast, 350lb warrior.

A couple of half-elves that see Sonny threaten them retreat to deeper cover, but some hold and fire... he did intimidate a couple. Sonny is weak, but he can still move, and dodges 3 arrows that whizz by him. He can see the poison on them!
Sonny sees Kerafin in her silver armor rushing to him from the jungle.
"Get down and they won't kill you!" She seems very concerned about Sonny. The half-elves seem annoyed also because she now is partially blocking their shot... which is already hard through the jungle.

A lightning bolt from somewhere in the jungle strikes the red dragon, but fizzles! Much to someone's dismay. It looks to have come from behind the spread half-elves' archer line.

Above the red dragon, and very close to Valdis, an aasimar appears! This fellow has gold skin and flowing golden hair that blows like fire about his head. He wears a felt blue robe. He casts cone of cold over the back of the dragon making sure to get Valdis as well. {d:25} Both fail to avoid the damage!

Did you factor in Valdis's cold resistance? If not, that will be 20 damage to her.

To much talking risks giving away their location. After she is invisible she will sit up, just a little to look around.

If she can on this turn, she will cast Spectral Hand. Or if it seems too risky or someone can tell where someone is casting a spell from, she will not. Or if it'll get rid of her invisibility she won't do it.

Retro: Lockhart's attack {the near crit being AoO} will miss. 4+17.

Sonny {DM action}: In his weakened state he will seek cover among the tents, and see what advantage he can gain from this strange relationship he's developed with Kerafin.

The priestesses rush to Hiram, and grab the blue haired elf. At this the elf rolls away and puts them to sleep with the blink of her eyes. Hiram got to witness her power up close, she looks to Hiram afraid of him, but in awe. The two Tiamat priestesses are sleeping near Hiram.

The Yuanese assassin-whore sprints into the shadows. The other two the Northern and Antarian woman cower in fear, and likely might merely be whores.

Fiheera releases the Red tent as she whips around and swoops down grabbing the blue haired elf with expertise. The elf tries to flip away, but the mighty red dragon is quick, and busts up many tree branches as she swoops right over Hiram. Hiram can smell the dragon's perfume and body musk she swoops so close to him. The red tent falls and thumps into tree branches the two girls still inside are likely dead, and do not move. Blood will drip from this soon...

Valdis feels her powers kick in and warm her blood {resisting cold!}, as she leaps off the dragon to face the golden haired aasimar."I've heard of you." He says as she comes at him. She had to fly off the dragon with her winged boots, and gets close enough that she threatens his spell-casting.

Sharon casts her Shield in the woods near Arha. With all the combat ringing around, the experienced spell-casters are able to get some additional noise cover in their attempt to lay-low.

Arha's spectral hand can be used in attack, but as of yet her mysterious spectral hand seems to come from no where. An experienced spell caster might be able to deduce where she is invisibly, but a spooky spectral hand is not something you want to stick around to study... especially at its point of manifestation.

Jendra was also near Hiram when the dragon swooped over head. It could've hurt all of you, but wanted the elf with blue hair. This elf now struggles painfully in the dragon's grasp. {DM action} She sees Hiram is fine, so to improve the odds Jendra will seek cover at the same time sprint out toward the archers to eliminate a few.

Lockhart tries to trip the large man, but DeLaTourre shows dexterity and jumps out of the attack.
Lockhart's 2nd attack nearly gets stuck in the man's leg fat. There is definitely strange about this man's body's properties. He's getting the feeling he won't be able to trip him.

Kerafin rushes to Sonny's side, and covers him as more arrows fly in. She is actually struck by one meant for Sonny! She is weakened by the poison! "Sonny... you must trust that I can get you out of here alive."

The well-dressed man from the poker table in black leather, steps out of the shadows with a poisoned bow trained on Sonny. "Give me one reason. Either of you! Why I shouldn't just kill this thug." He is near a tree, and just peeks from the shadows. His arrow is held.

Sharon and Arha are close enough to see the loud Kerafin cover Sonny, but can't see or even hear the well-dressed man.

The aasimar backs away five feet from Valdis and turns invisible. Valdis knows the golden, blue robed celestial is close.

A lightning bolt arcs out of the jungle toward the dragon. This time it causes Fiheera some pain!
Also, a cylinder of holy flame ignites the red dragon's back where Valdis had been riding. Fiheera screams out in pain as she tries to crush the blue haired elf in her claws. Fiheera is holding the elf up to her mouth, as if she needed to put the elf somewhere so she could safely breath on her.

In the jungle as Jendra moves toward the half-elven archers, a heavily armored dwarf pops his head up from the brush. "You gonna have to get through me first." He hurls a hand axe, and then readies his battle axe. An arrow strikes Jendra's leg painfully, but her sturdy constitution ignores the poison.{d8} The dwarf's hand axe grazes Jendra.{d:8} The dwarf is about 20 feet away.

Jendra

Jendra eyes the dwarf warily, and decides she's not going to have to get through him at all. An academy-trained warrior might have cited a rule saying something along the lines of don't engage an equal or superior enemy on his own terms; for Jendra, it was something more like don't be stupid.

The result, though, is the same; Jendra half-turns and lopes away in a half-circle so that she won't be taken completely unawares by more arrows. She heads for Lockhart, as the big orc has proven tough enough to make a good partner even when he wasn't paying attention to her; he makes an excellent distraction for the people nearby. Besides, she thought she recognized the fat man he was fighting. She wouldn't mind putting a knife in his side; she might even enjoy seeing him dead, a little.

Valdis

This was beginning to get very frustrating... Valdis brings her hands together, cupping one palm facing down towards the cupped palm of her other hand, which faces up, forming a loose elliptical shape between them, almost like an eye.
An eye...
The red, tattooed eye on Valdis's forehead flicks and begins moving, glowing unnaturally as the tiefling closes her normal eyes, flying straight at the aasimar.
"I see you, bastard child of the heavens..."

Activating her supernatural ability which mimics See Invisibility.
(See Willing Deformity: Eye, from BoVD for more details.
This takes a standard action, of course. :smallsigh:
She'll then move straight at the aasimar.

Note that the whole closing her eyes thing and seeing with the tattooed eye is purely flavor and nifty-ness, and has no mechanical standpoint at all.

With the man in black leather standing over Sonny, he feels confident to remain where he's at. He says firmly to Kerafin, "Tie him up. Or I'll consider you one of them." This area holds and the half-elves seem content at least to leave Sonny alone.

The blue elf tries one last focused attempt, but the hurt dragon merely laughs it off. "You tricked me! I know it was you! Forced me to take the tiefling away!!" She says this in perfect elfin.

This is the last thing the elfin girl hears before the psionist is fried in the dragon's hand. After her breath weapon chars tree tops and wildlife, the smoke clears as the dragon soars by in the sky. The elf female is charred, but somehow still lives! Fiheera screeches in horror, and opens her mouth ready to eat the elf, still crushing her in her grip. Her blue hair is completely burned off, she is charred badly, though.

Valdis sees the aasimar before her. He is not far, and smiles at her approach.

Sharon... {retro action?} still hiding...

Arha's spectral hand reaches out and drops one of the half-elven archers with her drain! Unfortunately Arha becomes visible on the attack spell. {+11}

Jendra sprints to the other side of the camp, and she'll notice Arha now visible, but hiding among the brush. Jendra will be nearby Lockhart and the fat-man.

Hiram is in good cover by the other tents, and begins his spell with no problem.

Lockhart finds he has more effect attacking the fat man, and relying on his massive strength, he can pull the spiked chain from the fat-guys belly. He hurts the guy, but finds his rubbery body hard to damage. Something ground shim making him impossible to trip.

Jendra is finally hit with a lucky arrow shot. Her fortitude helps her avoid being poisoned, but a good shot finally gets her! {d:3}

DeLaTourre sees Jendra approach and realizes he is no longer playing around with 2 major opponents. He does manage to slice the orc badly, but his second attack nearly looses his sword from his grip due to the blood all over. {d:14, then near fumble!}

The well-dressed man in leather crouches low, and tries to hide. He looks mad at Kerafin. "Tie him up!"
She looks sadly to Sonny, and shows him a silken rope.
"Please, Sonny. We can help you."

Sounds of spells erupt on the dragon. Another column of holy flame comes to no effect, but another lightning bolt sizzles and pops the red dragon's scales.

The aasimar flies five feet away and becomes visible again launching a point blank cone of cold. {2+14 d:26-5} The Aasimar is now only five feet away from her and visible!

Sharon Retro: Sharon becomes visible and sends the first of a series of explosive iceballs toward the half-elves. The explosion snaps twigs, and actually kills a grouping of three half-elves. This unfortunately will not effect the shot that struck Jendra last round.

Round 7:

As Sonny submits to Kerafin's rope ties, he is able to slip the razor into his hands. The man with the bow seems more concerned now about finding the source of that exploding cold blast. He stays near, but low and in the shadows.

The charred elf continues to try her psionics while gripped in the dragon's claws. This time it works... {fumbled dragon save} The dragon freezes mid-air as if held, and begins to plummet to the earth. {Fiheera had been gliding around above the tree tops.}

Fiheera crashes into the trees some distance away and disappears with the elf beneath her. Trees crack and the earth shakes on her crash-landing.

Valdis manages to hit the aasimar twice.
{OOC- Is the drain part of soul-eater? I didn't know that. What's his save?}
Her last attack too slow.

The half-elfs tried to spread out, and when she fired the iceball last round the half-elves spread out even more. Sharon lobs another iceball that explodes in another freezing blast. More half-elven screams are heard.

Arha ducks and holds her spell.

Jendra strikes with the short sword and hurts the fat man, but misses with the unarmed strike. She is disappointed with her first attack's damage, and see that this rubbery man is hard to hurt.

Hiram calls 3 apes from hell and sends them out toward the remaining archers he's aware of. They rip these two half-elves to pieces! {well, they beat them down... I see terrible ape rolls!} He is able to near the area where the group fights DeLaTourre.

Lockhart's first strike is mighty, but the 2nd just bounces... literally. Big DeLaTourre fights on!

Kerafin wraps up Sonny, and the well-dressed man looks carefully at him as if he spotted him doing something, but he's more concerned with the battle now that Sonny is tied up.

With Valdis and the aasimar in the sky they make great targets for some hiding in the trees below. 5 violet magic missiles come from the jungle in the area that launched the lightning bolts. They pain Valdis! {d:14}
She is looking really bad!

The aasimar tries his own lightning bolt, as he backs five feet away and sensing Valdis's near demise. This time the pained Valdis deftly steps aside and EVADES the whole thing!
{OOC- Realized he's can't be an evoker... still the 4 save failed.:smallfrown:
He's a sorcerer. The OTHER wizard is my evoker!}

A man with long blonde hair in heavy armor tramps up and yells at Hiram, the man is surrounded in a golden haze, and Hiram can tell this man is a good priest of some sort, and likely the source of the holy fire on the dragon. He steps up with a sword and shield ready to fight Hiram head on, and has activated some buffing spell.
"Hey handsome! Come get some." He is about 30 feet from Hiram. No charging anywhere because of all the brush.

While Hiram waits for a reaction, he calls his hell-born apes to him. He casts Magic Vestments on his shield and readies it.

Sharon is still very invisible!

Sonny is quite bound, and the well-dressed man seems satisfied.

Fiheera looks bad in her crash-landing, and there is no sign of the dark blue haired elf.

Valdis is forced to back away and drink a potion attempting to gain some cover in the tree-tops. {DM action +4}

Sharon and Arha have time for actions....

Jendra's attacks all bounce off the fat man. He only looks minorly wounded.

Hiram can see that this man means business and frowns when Hiram casts a defensive spell on himself.

Lockhart wails away at the fat man, but finds most of his damage is bouncing. This man seems not human, and much of the force of the effect is rippled away in the rubber skin as shock-waves.

DeLaTourre is fierce and stays in to fight the orc, but the orc is well armored and DeLaTourre can only add one slice to the orc this time. {d:11}

The well-dressed man near Sonny ducks into the jungle and disappears leaving Sonny tied up near Kerafin.
The Aasimar chases Valdis sensing an advantage, and is about to say something, but instead the female evoker rises from the trees to spot Valdis and pelt her unconscious with 5 more magic missiles. {d:16} Valdis drops and the last thing she sees is the 'hooker' that was on the well-dressed man's arm. She now has a blue robe like the aasimar's, and wears thick glasses that make her look especially nerdy.
Sharon and Arha see this in broad daylight above. The aasimar starts to bind the wounds of Valdis and cradles her gently in his arms. The lady-evoker is hard to see from Sharon or Arha's perspective, but they will know what direction the damage comes from.

The long blonde priest decides that Hiram has had enough time and rushes to strike him. The DeLaTourre battle is nearby, as are hiding Arha and Sharon. This a priest of Frey: {Hiram can see by the icy blue sword that the priest wields as a weapon/holy symbol!} the spell-enhanced priest overcomes the defenses of Hiram, but just barely to give him a nasty bruise through the armor. {-9} He sprints as fast as he can and 'pauses' 5 feet from Hiram.

From the direction Jendra came earlier the slow footed heavily armored dwarf comes tromping. He can't be seen, but everyone is aware of his rapid approach to aid his friends.

The summoned apes have finished the rest of the archers, and will come tearing back toward the other opponents.... closest to them is the dwarf... and that seems why he is making a bee-line for his gang.

Sonny finds himself now tied up by Kerafin. The well-dressed man left last round into the shadows.

The priestesses stir, but are of no help and go straight for cover. Even looking right at the tied-up Sonny. They instead run toward the fallen red dragon.

The red dragon stirs... but only a little it is still alive.

Valdis is out and a captive...

Sharon sees the nerdy wizardess in the blue robe just a bit in the sky. It is all she needs to explodes her electricity ball. The aasimar had retreated down with Valdis in his arms. He was now reaching for a rope, but notices the electrical explosion above him. {d:29 electricity... no save} The wizardess is pained, but still kicking, she was looking to finish the dragon, but now scans the jungle for Sharon.

Arha steps out looking like her black-skinned, silver haired evilness. She targets her fear cone perfectly, so it hits the rotund man in the side. DeLaTourre looks in utter terror as he sees her.

Jendra definitely hurt DeLATourre some, but criticals are hard to land on this cushy fellow. She can see that Arha has affected him most of all.

Hiram may have dropped a couple of the priest's many defenses... one being an agility one... Hiram can tell that much. The strange luminous glow about him is still there.

Hiram's apes descend from the trees around you, two are able to attack the priest, but one is unable to get through his protections from evil. The apes that do claw at him aren't able to get through the strange luminous defenses this priest has up. The priest is surrounded by three big apes and looks pissed off towards Hiram.

Lockhart gives DeLaTourre a mighty poke in the ribs, but still phases him little.
{OOC- Retro's might not be relevant.}
DeLaTourre cares nothing about the attacks and drops his fine sword and shield, and makes a full retreat into the woods away from Arha. He busts branches and bushes as he moves madly away from the scary wizardess.

Kerafin can tell things are turning a little against her party, and peeks up to watch; clearly distracted from Sonny. Sonny will see her pouch at her waist with a couple of potions in it. Sonny will also see the aasimar fly down nearby and land with limp Valdis in his arms. He begins to tie her up.

The wizardess with glasses flies above the DeLaTourre action, and sees Arha.
She sends a resilient sphere to encircle Arha, but she deftly avoids the spell! This woman with thick glasses is mad and still steaming from the electrical blast she just took.

The priest decides to stand his ground and battles the apes, killing one with a few swipes of his blade. {He made sure to kill one that had scratched his armor.}

The armored dwarf goes running by Sonny toward Arha, the Apes, and company.

Kerafin will not notice Sonny take the potion, but will finally see the big lumbering, but nimble man next to her and free."Stay low! Todd will kill you. You shouldn't have done that." She says in as hushed voice as she can. Sonny also saw a neutralize poison, but can only grab one at the moment. {the commercial version usually green}

Fiheera begins to move, and is snapping branches as she moves to right herself. The last two priestesses rush to her and cast lesser cure spells on the dragon.

Valdis is being bound by the aasimar in blue, who has yet to notice Sonny crawled up near Kerafin.

Sharon tries to pelt the wizardess with magic missiles, but she has a hidden Shield.

A coruscating ray bursts from Arha and withers the dwarf before your eyes.
"Ah yee beetch!" The battle axe looks a little heavier in his hands now.

Jendra finds herself a fine long sword, that looks quite old, and expensive.
The dwarf spits in fury at seeing this, "Darena do tha! I smash you with me axe for tha insult dear lady!"

Hiram notices that the luminous aura about the priest makes it difficult for his apes to do anything, but batter on the heavy plates of the priest's armor. He has success in touching the priest of Frey. The long-hair screams in pain as Hiram hurts him, but Hiram can tell that the priest didn't take all the damage.

Lockhart does manage to clip DeLaTourre on his way out, but this man has constitution for days, and somehow legs to carry it all away! Lockhart collapses.

Kerafin tries to keep Sonny hushed, for the Aasimar is now done tying up Valdis about 30 feet away.

The nerdy wizardess curses as she opens up a dimension door to somewhere nearby and disappears.

The armored dwarf runs up to Jendra angrily, and totally misses her on his attack.

Sonny downs the elixir of heal, and Kerafin sees this and instinctively feels her pack, "Sonny! You... that was mine!" She is more hurt than anything.

Valdis is quite out... and tied up.

Sharon starts her casting and feels a poisoned arrow come from close by. She thinks she sees some well-dressed man in black leathers shooting at her from the jungle. The arrow might've hit her, and came close! He knows she somewhere in the area.
{Doh! And the Aasimar fumbles his save!}
Sharon peers through the woods some distance away, she had to move some to get to him, but she could at least see the area Sonny was. The aasimar was now noticing Sonny's subtle movements, but is suddenly DOMINATED by Sharon's magic! His attention will turn back to Valdis.

Arha moves so she can see the aasimar's landing spot with Valdis. Her chilling touch with the spectral hand misses, but the aasimar took no notice of it...

Jendra is able to move and flank the priest with all of his opponents, but misses her attack. Though she tumbled safely away from the dwarf's attack of opportunity.

The priest whiffs his attack on the apes as they come at him. One manages to grab him and pin him! Hiram is holding.... for retro...

The dwarf sees Lockhart move away, but instead goes to aid his friend. He charges in and even weakened manages to damage the ape holding the Priest of Frey badly.

Somehow the priest shrugs off the apes this round, and snarls in anger.

The wizardess leaps from the jungle some distance away flying in the air about 180 feet from those near Hiram. She sends dazzling shards of diamonds that shatter all over the red dragon's back. They rip the two priestesses to shreds, but the spell fizzles on the dragon's spell resistance! The red dragon cackles with glee as she now has spotted her quarry.

Kerafin backs away from Sonny, tears start to stream, and she runs toward the dwarf at top speed... leaving Sonny and Valdis with the aasimar.

Valdis

Valdis awakens, and her first reaction is to get up and away from the aasimar, but after she does that, she begins looking around for a target, realizing that for some reason he's on her side now... she guesses it is the work of the one of the spellcasters. When she locates the closest threat, she immediately flies towards them, trying to stay behind cover and in the shadows while she moves closer.

I'm not quite sure who is in Valdis's sight range... she'll stand up from prone and start moving towards either the wizardess, Todd, or perhaps the priest or dwarf, depending who is in range.

With Kerafin now away from Sonny, she turns her attention to the flying wizard. She sends her spectral hand after her. She will do her best to remain under some cover.

((each melee touch attack (1d20+6=18) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1752769/) channels negative energy that deals damage (1d6=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1752772/). Retro: The priest is blinded by Hiram's spell, and he will groan in annoyance. The priest was still able to throw his wrestling apes off, but all should be as Hiram wants now.:smallcool:

Sonny will have to make a full move after Kerafin to get close to the priest, but now will be near all the melee action.

Valdis awakens and sees Sonny chasing the noisy lady in silver armor running from him to the nearby priest and dwarf... who are battling her allies. She can fly there and be ready to attack if desired. She is fully healed!

Todd, the well-dressed man, apparently stops firing, but Sharon does hear a whistle from him as he retreats back, and disappears out of her sight into the shadows. "Regroup!" Is all he says in elfin.

Sharon launches her special electrical rays at the already fried wizardess with thick glasses, who seems overly pleased at the success of killing the dragon. Sharon makes this victory short-lived as she zaps the wizardess in the sky! The wizardess with glasses begins to slowly drift downwards, as the safety of the FLY spell allows. The wizardess if not dead is very limp. "Sarah! Noooooooo!!" Yells Todd from where ever he is, now speaking imperial common.

Arha to insure this wizardess doesn't come back takes some for life from her, and indeed Arha feels some positive energy was stolen. There might be a little life in the wizardess left, but not much.

Jendra's first attack is a good one, and she stabs the priest good in a gap in the armor at this priest's side. She is still having trouble as this luminous armor is quite annoying to look at.

Hiram pulls back and steps behind Lockhart to heal the mighty orc a little.
Hiram's last ape manages to grapple the long blonde haired priest.

Lockhart slams his chain into the weakened dwarf's legs, and the dwarf curses some more as he flails over and ends up eating jungle dirt. Lockhart tripped him, but good!!

The dwarf continues to hack away at the harrying apes even from his prone position to aid his priest.

Kerafin sees the priest is in need and comes flying out of the jungle with a smiting attack on the ape. She executes it with authority, then looks for more opponents. She looks right at nearby Jendra.

The priest of Frey will cast defensively and heal himself with a critical spell. He looks very pissed off toward Hiram. This priest is still hurt.

Valdis

Valdis pinpoints who she believes to be the biggest threat, and flies off towards the priest, preparing to strike at him as soon as she gets close.

Okay, from your words I am unsure of exactly what my situation is. My intent last turn was to get into combat range, but you didn't really make clear if this post was a retroactive response or not, so I'll designate three options:

1) Valdis takes two move actions to get near the priest this turn.

2) Last turn Valdis stood up and flew towards the action, but was unable to get close enough. She takes another move action and gets a single attack action against the priest (if this is the case, use the first of my rolls below).

3) Last turn Valdis noticed the priest and moved up to him, and this turn she gets a full attack against him.

The priest is hard to even touch, and Sonny slips right off as he moves on the blinded man!

Valdis saw this threat and moved right on him. She is only five feet from the buffed up priest. She gets her full attack, but finds him too armored, and hard to hit. She does draw his blinded attention for a moment.

No sign of Todd, but there is quiet fast movement toward the fallen wizardess away in the jungle.

The priest cries out as Sharon pelts him hard with her magic missiles. "I come to you Frey! Let the Valkyries take me!!" He cries out in a fury, he looks hurt.

Arha totally misses her spectral grasp... {OOC- not a fumble... I rolled a 20 for that... Is this Level damage or hit point damage? I may need to retro things in the PCs favor... :smalleek:}

Kerafin yells at the priest as she retrieves her weapon this round and moves a bit, "Don't listen to him! We must leave! We did what we were sent to do!!"

The priest ignores her and charges right toward Hiram's voice, "Not me Princess! I'll tell the gods to hold a place for you!! Flee Princess! Flee! Aarrrghhhhhh!!!" He is clocked hard in the head by Lockhart's attack of opportunity. But, came in with a a heavenly charge, and seems enraged. "our insider was the elf-psion." She looks to Hiram as if she knew where he'd spent lunch. "She was very skilled," says Hiram, unable to pass up the double entendre. "I know some other bad men. Do you know whether she hires out? Or does she take these jobs strictly for moral reasons?"

feigning indignation (as if killing were somehow more noble than whoring), "...assassination...."

Kerafin speaks with regret of the assassin, "I had to follow orders of those above me... I did not agree to the assassin.... and the gods cursed us because of the vile manner in which we committed our deed." She is shamed and doesn't want to speak.

She will look to Sharon and say softly, "They and my mother will not rest until I am back... The girl, the wizardess, she loved this priest. She will want revenge."

On DeLaTourre:
"He is with me, and a very loving man... he is an exile that has joined our cause. I believe people can change. All of you can change. Evil does not have to be your path." She ignores Sonny coldly, but will plead with Hiram, who she will almost view as equal to Sharon among your group.

"Who says we need to change?" Sharon asks, sounding just slightly sour, "We're not the ones running around killing people-- except to defend ourselves. Who is your mother anyway?" she adds, her voice taking on its usual charm again. She looks up to see the progress the aasimar is making on the fallen. (Is Kerafin doing any healing yet?)

Valdis grits her teeth at being ignored, and decides that if they don't care about her advice or her thoughts, they can just rot there. Serve them right. Maybe they'll get ambushed again and learn a lesson.
She won't be heading in to save them again, that's for sure.
The tiefling stalks off from the group, going around the camp to investigate things- such as the prince's tent, and the dragon's corpse.

Getting up and stretching after catching his breath, Lockhart will look around him and see that the interrogation is already underway by those more knowledgable in current affairs than himself. He'll walk a circuit of the encampment with an eye out for defensibility, heartily greeting anyone still standing and peaceful without regards to which side they were on in the struggle. If all is well, he'll gravitate back to the ale which is presumably still in the centre of camp.

"The girl, the wizardess, she loved this priest. She will want revenge."
...
"Evil does not have to be your path." "Evil is as evil does, my lady. Remind her that I did not choose to fight the priest, and that vengeance is a dark road. Perhaps your own conscience could be assuaged with council from my order. The ways of Power are the same all over. Your amusements may be tamer than Heron's. You eschew slavery? Egalitarianism has it's own, subtler chains. We should speak further, not now; when your mind is fresh."

Addressing the others, "We leave nothing that could benefit our enemies. That which we cannot carry will be destroyed. I want to know if more survivors are found-- of any side. We should discuss how we're going to repatriate the hostages, out of hearing of same, as well as what affect this has on our plans."

Hiram takes what he can carry into the circle of tents. ((@#$@ strength poison....))

The Prince's tent is strewn all about the jungle, and Valdis will find that the dragon is quite dead. Tufts of the elf's blue hair are in the dragon claws, but there is no sign of the elf psion. There are actually some trinkets of wealth that Valdis can gather as she spends time snooping about the jungle.

Valdis found several small idols and figurines, none are magical, but worth gold for some are in ivory, gold, and silver. They might've been Heron's curios. He seems to have been robbed of several items like his sword, but his fine suit of red dragon scale armor is magical and can be looted. Wearing it would draw notice for it is made for a Prince and intricately inlaid with gold.

Most of you will not see what Valdis gathers from the debris with her eagle eyes. You know she gained a few items judging from the new bulges in her belt pouches.
{OOC- It is quite a bit of wealth. :smallwink:}

The bed sheets and even fabric of the prince's torn tent are worth money, but much of it is bulky, and you can see that several pack-animals were transported here. All of this likely came via wizard teleport. If you have the coin you can get anywhere.

The Lizard-man Ranger allows himself to be seen by Sonny and Jendra, and he waves a white handkerchief in the distance.

It should also be noted that a couple of the priestesses and even more of the camp guard are still living. The wizards are all dead, and if you want a bunch of traveling spell-books you can find a bunch of those. {Arha may find some new lower level spells here.:smallwink:}

Since they apparently don't intend to move right away, Jendra settles into a position where she can keep an eye on the jungle, in case their enemies return to try to rescue the captives.

She watches the lizardman for a while, eventually nodding to him from a distance. He'd probably been bribed by somebody to stay away from the fight, but it wasn't like the attack had been directed at her; if he wasn't interested in fighting them, good.

Kerafin explains that her armor is of her order, and that her signet ring can only be touched or worn by her. The sword is a special issue item of the Church of the Woodland god Frey.

Milgarza looks to Sharon, "I know a place... a trapper town. There's Inns, and trading posts. Good place to lay-low... but a little dangerous... Better than open jungle. I was born here you know." He says looking around.

She then looks at the fuming aasimar with some amusement. "What is your name anyway? You may as well calm down, as you're not going anywhere for a while. And don't use that robe for anything either. We'll find you something more suitable to wear later."

She addresses the group as a whole as she indicates both the aasimar and Kerafin, "These two are mine. I don't want anyone laying a finger on them without my approval. We can discuss a fair sharing of the magic items later."

She leads Kerafin away from the rest of the group, and casts prestidigitation to clean up both herself and the paladin from the grime of the battle, acting like a good friend to the charmed woman. "Nice to feel clean, isn't it? Could you heal my wounds for me?" As an afterthought, she uses the remaining time on the cantrip to dirty up the aasimar a bit more than he currently is.

"Javoc." The aasimar answers Sharon in regars to his name, and it is clear he feels he's talked too much with that.

Kerafin is nervous when Sharon leads her off, and she looks confused as the sorceress seems to treat her as a friend... not noticing the little 'dirt storm' powdering the aasimar behind her. She will use her paladin healing to put Sharon at full health. Kerafin is quiet for some time in response to Sharon, "You reek of an evil taint... are you even human?" Sharon will see that it may be some time before she can switch the favor of this paladin to her. However, Kerafin is completely cooperative with Sharon. She will add,"They will find it. You can't keep it forever. That and the Eye."

Milgarza has relaxed very little, and is surprised when the tiefling speaks to him directly. "Oh me? I, uh, well, as I said there is the trapper community not far. Born in a little farming community noone's ever heard of. That seems ages ago, really. What you're probably sensing is something leftover from all those creepy squid-tentacley temples I've been in in the last year. Nasty nasty places. And to be quite honest, I don't want It." She figures Kerafin knows exactly what she means by 'It'. "I just haven't found anyone I trust enough to give It to and not abuse It. Don't really have any desire to use It, either. It's a dilemma. See, you, I might trust, but not some of your associates. They've not treated you very well, you realize, making you be a part of this ambush. Clearly the ranking members of Heron's party are the unconscious priestesses. The wizards would've bowed to them.

When Hiram tells Milgarza's his duties to the group the lizardman nods, but his eyes are slightly vacant as he listens with glazed eyes... as if he might run at the first sign of real trouble. He is clearly interested in self-preservation.

Arha will find that the scroll left by Tunia is a map of this jungle, and it has marked the trapper's community. Arha might need an expert to determine where you all are on the map at the moment.

The aasimar has fully healed Arha; he had used his fancy elixir.

Stripped of her armor, Princess Kerafin wears only her underpadding which looks also expensive, and made of light blue silk. She does seem relaxed in the padded armor, but is a little uncomfortable near the attractive sorceress. Sharon can see Kerafin is an attractive buxom blonde, though steaming with goodness, and acts bashful {even though she heard what Sonny did to her two night ago :smallbiggrin:}.

She nods admitting more to Sharon, "Yes... I... I wanted a more honorable attack, but the wizardess and the priest wanted action now. You were only secondary targets... the priesthood, they know what you carry. And your friend. This attack is retaliation against the imperial line. Heron and his brothers have been enslaving women about this world for their nefarious needs. Even ones far too young..." She says this with the most anger. "I am sure one or two of the prince's companions were borderline the legal age in the North... though the empire has no such standards for its nobles and rich."
Sharon would deduce this woman was from the North. Her light skinned coloring and blonde hair was fairly common in the good Northern Kingdom {especially in their royal line}.

Just talk with you, and we can try to figure out what's best to do with you. I'm not sure I would trust your allies to treat you very well, after all. You northerners strike me as rather prudish-- or maybe it's just the nobility. Growing up on a farm-- well, let's just say I learned about such things younger than you'd probably consider proper. Didn't hurt me any." She shrugs gracefully. "That's beside the point. Don't you fear retaliation from the prince's people? To you or your country? I can protect you, if you need me to. At least until we part ways."

At Valdis's loud comment she looks up, then calls back. "I think we're ready to go here. We'll follow along." She looks back at Kerafin with a friendly smile. "We can't stay here. Let's walk and talk together, shall we? And we can figure out what to do next."

As the party moves along, and with Javoc nearby {still steaming mad- more at Kerafin?}, the naive princess begins to trust Sharon more and more. Sharon can feel it comes from a place where she might find some affection for her personal servants, but it is some trust.

Milgarza is nervous around the tiefling, but clearly respects her, and assumes her parentage is someone VERY scary. "Uhm, no trick mistress. Milgarza take you to a good watering hole. Normally, I only take high paying trappers there.... we may only see other solo trappers, but that'd be the way anywhere around here... My folk have shelter, away from imperial patrols."

{Hiram, Arha, and some of the guild guys know the empire has been slaughtering the lizardfolk along with all the other non-human people for hundreds of years. Meeting one is a rarity. Meeting one that can speak good imperial tongue is actually amazing.}

Milgarza will lead on.

Once again as evening falls, there is no relief from the heat and humidity.

Sonny's watchful eyes scan the jungle as you pass. He will see tigers and lions watching from a distance, but they are more concerned by your dangerous tromping party.

Lockhart almost loses the group a few times, but luckily with all those heavy bodies moving through brush the Darklords are not hard to find.

It will be night and Milgarza will push you on. He will tell Lockhart to stay close when you are near his sight.

He will hush you, and point out a campsite near a marsh. It is actually cooler here, but it seems even more muggy. Sweat covers all of you, and much of it might merely be the environment.

Hiram gives the others a minute or two to get into position before he advances to where Milgarza can introduce him.

Valdis

The tiefling rolls her eyes.
"I think you overestimate the power of your presence if you think people will flee at the sight of you. Give it a rest- this isn't battle, and I highly doubt they're going to run. For all they know, we just want to rest too.
"They're not warriors- they're trappers, and probably the only thing they're on the lookout for are creatures to catch. If we just play the part of a hunting party, things will go fine."
Waving a hand to dismiss Hiram's plan and concerns as if they were pathetic and stupid, she simply walks up to the campsite, not making a lot of noise, but not purposefully sneaking up on them either, so as to make a happy medium of not startling them with noise or presence immediately.
"Fair evening."
Valdis says to the trappers cordially, giving a polite smile as she drops to squat nearby, ready to get back up if she needs to. The position displays a lack of presumption, but also a measure of relaxation and lack of formality.
"My friends and I have been traveling for a while in the jungle, and we need a place to rest tonight. Our guide led us here... would you mind if we shared the site?"

When morning comes, she excuses herself from her toys to spend a little time with Arha to explain her intentions with the two that she'd captured, ensuring she's well out of hearing of Kerafin and Javoc. Finding the trappers disinterested in socializing, Valdis cuts off her attempts almost gratefully. Better to have time to reflect and use for her own purposes, after all.

For a mere two hours she sleeps, but when that time is up she moves a very slight way away from the campsite to train herself, focusing her energy and skill in an attempt to renew herself after her failures from the day before.
She is determined not to fail so badly again- she had to grow stronger in her arts, more skillful in her approach and attacks.

Frustrated, seeking validation of her skills and somewhere to funnel her energy and rage, Valdis quietly stalks around the campsite, keeping an eye out for anything unusual.

Kerafin is a little coy with Sharon in the tent. The sorceress can tell the princess is curious about this evil temptress known as Sharon. The princess was raised in a sheltered environment of the good aligned North far from the corruption of the Empire. She is wary of Sharon, but strongly attracted to her in an unfamiliar way to her normal pulling toward goodness. Sharon will have gotten her out of her light blue under-padding and the paladin now wears only her shorts and a small shirt. She doesn't much as even the nights here are warm. {OOC- I am assuming her expensive Holy symbol was taken as well.}

Kerafin remains weirded out by Sonny, and will stick close to Sharon. Clearly Sharon's powers of persuasion had an effect in the evening. Sharon would've been in complete control in her tent over the blonde, and would've had to initiate anything if it were to happen.

Javoc keeps a close watch on the princess while fulfilling his duties to the sorceress, and has a permanent sneer on his face as he does them.

Valdis saw many strange cats and bears in this forest in the night. most stayed far from the humanoid camp. Her biggest frustration might be the fact that she sweated profusely merely sitting in this heat at night. Drinking lots of water was a requirement in this jungle.

Milgarza the Lizard-man is under complete service to Hiram and when he directs he will lead the way. The trappers hurriedly pack their gear and head off in the exact opposite direction you all go, toward Port Carmen City.

The day takes you into thick jungle, but Milgarza seems to know the way without trying. A hidden path seems to lead you right where you need to go.

... keeps to herself most of the time, watching other people talk without anything more than casual interest. The jungle was just as interesting, but it was also the source of the inescapable damp heat, which made it less appealing. There was a reason cities had been invented, she felt; it might still be hot and damp, but you could get a little respite in one.

As the trappers got nervous whenever she watched them for long, she's taken to hanging about near Javoc. Maybe it's curiosity, maybe it's because he has a pretty face, maybe she just likes being reminded that there's at least one person here who's feeling decidedly worse than she is; it's hard to tell from just her body language.

Sharon continues as she had the day before. She puts Javoc at the far rear of the party with order to alert her if anyone approaches from behind. And she continues to play the role of new friend to Kerafin, hoping to win the girl's friendship after the charm spell wears off in a bit more than nine days' time. If she has plans for the girl after that, she's keeping them to herself. She also promises to protect Kerafin from harm to the best of her ability-- and to all appearances, means what she says.

The sorceress enjoys having a pet project, and her friendship with the girl, while genuine as far as it's gone so far, is also with the intent of leading the paladin around to Sharon's way of thinking about the world-- a fact Arha, and perhaps Sonny, would be aware of. Sharon continues to play a role somewhere between baroness and farm girl, swaying from one persona to the other as the conversation would dictate.

Eventually all will notice the black birds. Hiram will know his people are watching. Sharon and Arha can tell they are likely fiendish.

Milgarza will say, quite frightened, "These ain't normal. They don't even look like city black birds." He will try to pick up the pace to get away from the birds.
You won't be able to avoid them the rest of the way.

Kerafin will sing, "Four and twenty black birds baked in a pie..." Mostly to ease her nerves and sticks close to Sharon. She has a pretty singing voice, obviously trained in court. Sharon can see that Kerafin is feeling relaxed around her, and will actually push herself into Sharon's smaller form.

Telepathically Hiram will hear the birds saying, "Feed us the aasimar." Over and over again.

Valdis

Valdis keeps her eyes on the birds, feeling quite tense at their continued presence. They obviously weren't natural, and the way they stared seemed disturbingly intelligent... at least to her. She doesn't feel the same unease and fear as Kerafin and Milgarza, but neither is she reacting to them calmly like Sharon.

After their presence lingers for a while more, Valdis subtly splits off from the rest of the group and slips into the shadows, becoming no more than a ghost as she moves alongside them- shadowing them while not being among them. This way, perhaps, she can be aware of anything that occurs, and yet have ample opportunity to react, rather than be caught in the middle of it all.

Some might call Valdis paranoid, but in her mind she's seen far too many people taken unprepared and unaware... usually because she was the one catching them in that state, and then taking advantage of it. She's determined not to be caught off guard like that, and so here she is, lurking in darkness.

When Hiram 'thinks' to the birds there is a chorus of snickers, as if they don't care what he said. They are clearly under control of a higher power. Though shortly after Hiram's 'comment' the birds do back off out of sight. Hiram can tell there was a command, probably from one of the high priests in control of them.
A sending arrives for Hiram, "Apologies. Birds are free-willed. Your prisoners draw attention, beware. Birds preventing scrying by Northern wizard, but not all. Aasimar not needed alive, do as pleased..." Hiram can almost feel his high priest smile through the birds as they recede into the jungle.

Valdis literally seems to disappear into the jungle. As she walks not even the animals see her as she passes, even tiger lairs without their notice.

Arha can tell some divine source probably summoned these fiendish birds from Hell. She hopes it has something to do with Hiram's church.

Milgarza the lizardman ranger warns by late afternoon that the trading post is near. The little bit of sky you can see above the jungle's treetops reveals the smoke of human activity ahead. Clearly this wasn't a secret post, but likely a potentially dangerous one.

Lucky guard.

Valdis breaks the silence, making her presence known- but hopefully still unseen- as she speaks right into his ear, whispering to him in a threatening tone.
"Don't move. Speak quietly and only when I ask you to, or I'll kill you."
This is not going to be a routine day if he's a guard. Poor guy. Hopefully Valdis doesn't get herself in trouble with this, too- still, she takes her precautions.
She might have warned the group what was going on... but she might have also been spotted. Oh, and she cares a lot more about herself than them, at least at the moment.

Hiram tries not to react. "Lets take a break," he tells the lizardman.

When they do, Hiram says to Arha, "We should talk." He starts to lead her off, but stops. Not seeing Valdis, he asks Sonny, "I don't want to be overheard. Do you mind...?"

Edit: Slight misunderstanding with wxdruid. Please ignore the rest of this.

He takes Arha's hand and leads her away with Sonny in tow. Once they've gone 50 yards he says, "It's time. Past time; We're closer than I wanted. If you're religious, pray. Sonny, please make sure there's nothing sapient within 100' and return to the others. Arha, help me scan for magical sensors."

He casts detect magic and looks around carefully. If it's safe, he continues.

"This is going to hurt. Kneel, please. Bite your sleeve if you think you might scream."

He summons. The hell-born scorpion that appears is an anticlimactic two feet long. "I will guide your sting," he tells it. He seizes the creature's tail and applies it to Arha's stomach, below her right breast. He holds it in the wound, feeling it throb as the poison is delivered, and smiles as he finds himself aroused. He watches her, and when she's had enough, he pushes the scorpion away. "Now you may scream."

"BEGONE!" he roars.

He casts Delay Poison, scoops her up, and carries her back to the group.

"We were attacked by a monstrous scorpion," he says, looking daggers at Sonny. "My magic stopped it, but too late. I've done what I can, but she needs attention now. Take us to the trading post. We'll worry about our plans later."

Finding her rather heavy, he hands her to Sonny.

Wow, Hiram's creepy. It's been a while; I forgot.

Milgarza, Kerafin, and Javoc probably know we're up to something. Hiram tries for a timing that makes it look he was going to discuss their plans, and then this happened. He doesn't want them to figure out that this is the plan.

Bluff+5. Please roll for me as many times as necessary. Sense Motive +6 (+5 if he's lost his slut bonus) to discern who might have unraveled the deception.

He'll work the stinger around quite a bit. He wants the wound to look like it was from a huge or larger scorpion. A small scorpion has normally has DC12 poison that does 1d2 CON damage. DC bumps to 14 because of Augmented Summoning. 3 or 4 doses should be enough to make Arha look awful without threatening her life. He'll cast the delay before she needs to make secondary saves so that she can have loads of poison on-board.

Now we hope that the trading posts's healer isn't too competent. We want Vito to make an appearance, to show his concern for Arha, and maybe try to use the situation to put the moves on Sharon. Everybody wants Sharon.

Well, that settles it for Valdis. With that much time, they can make any kind of plan that they want to deal with the sentry's absence, even if it is just sending him back to his post with a variety of threats, curses, and a watchful eye. In the meantime, she wants to make sure he doesn't run away and alert anyone... and she also decides he could come in handy. She wasn't sure how just yet, but maybe they can think of something.

With a quiet command she takes flight, lunging up at the poor archer to knock him senseless.

Assuming that since he has no idea I'm going into combat I can use my boots, fly up all nice and close, and then whack him a few times as hard as I can.

I may be a little more help if I had all my gear..." She tries to give Sharon a cute smile. She is clearly unsure how to 'be' with a woman, but seems to be falling into it just fine.

A thunk and muffled crash is heard from the direction that you believe Valdis might be.

With the Sentry: {Valdis}

It is quickly lights out for the sentry, as he isn't even aware who or what hit him, but he is out like a light. He falls from the tree and is slightly hurt from it. Valdis can see if he is found like this any excuse he makes will only make him seem more foolish to his replacement.

{He was out after the first hit.}

Jendra

As Hiram calls a halt and the others start to drift off into private conversations, Jendra drifts over to the aasimar prisoner, who is looking in the Kerafin's direction and not looking happy, not that that's anything new for him.

"You know, if you keep making that face, it's going to stick like that," she comments, deadpan. The saying might have made sense coming from a nagging mother to a small child; coming from an armed woman to a prisoner in the middle of the jungle, it's rather incongruous, but she makes no sign she's aware of that, watching the aasimar's reaction.

Arha

Arha is happy to stop and sit down for a bit. She looks up when Hiram mentions wanting to talk and when he turns to Sonny, she waits. She's not really anxious to hurry and get up again.

Noting that in her mind, Valdis decides to leave him there for the moment while she rejoins the group, slipping out of the shadows as she does so. She looks among them and notes the absence of some... yet no one seems overly alarmed or worried, so she assumes it was planned.

She gestures for Sharon to join her as she walks towards Jendra, her expression completely serious and almost commanding. It's clear that she expects for her gesture to be answered, even if Sharon isn't inclined to do so.

When she reaches Jendra (and when Sharon arrives, if she chooses to do so) Valdis speaks in a low whisper.
"There was a sentry a little ways back. He's out cold, and I doubt anyone would believe his story even if he told it... but we may want to deal with him in another way, or use him for some other purpose.
"He says he was working for the guildmaster- there's a replacement coming for him at nightfall."

Jendra's words to the aasimar, Javoc, straighten him up and he nods. He is definitely threatened by the tough thug.

Valdis slips into your rest spot with barely anyone noticing. Valdis has to get Jendra's attention before she is noticed. {Yes, she's that sneaky.:haley:}

Jendra

Jendra's face twitches into a faint smile as the aasimar stares and nods, clearly not sure whether he should take it as a threat or a joke. Anything else she had to add is cut off by Valdis's quiet cough.

"Mmm. He mention which one?"

"Unfortunately not, but it would be easy to question him further, if necessary. Considering his location, my guess is that he works for our target, but perhaps guesswork is not what we want to rely on."
Valdis crosses her arms.
"I suppose we should go collect him while we have a chance."
