View Full Version : Can you rotate images in GIMP?

Not by angles like 90 and 180, I mean more fine tuned. For instance, the hobo in the first panel of this comic (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0511.html) is leaning over. So what I mean is, could you draw that straight up and down and then rotate it? Thanks for any help.

What you can do is put whatever you want to rotate in its own layer and use Layer>Transform>Arbitrary Rotation. If you're working on an existing document, you can select what you want to rotate and Select>Float will give you the layer you can rotate.

So... Yes, yes you can rotate things in GIMP.

Edit: Hmm... just noticed the "Rotate layer or selection" tool. Shift-R should give you all the options you need.

Yes, just select something then press the rotation tool on the main tools menu. It looks like this:

Then click and drag on your selection to rotate it. You can also input a specific number of degrees with the dialogue box.
