View Full Version : The Summoning of lost wizards
2007-12-18, 06:21 PM
Most of the Orcs, goblins, Kobold Tribes are aligned under the Tribal Council.
Human, Xeph, Wood elves are aligned as the Union.
The tribal Council and The Union have agreed to live in peace.
College of Arcanum does not publicly take sides between the Tribal Council or the Union.
Wild Elves and dark dwarves are dark outsider against both groups.
The Game Start
Lady Sarah Windrage has sent each of you an invitation to meet with her over an offer she has for you. Lady Sarah is one of three highest nobles of the Human land. She resides in a small tower just North of Graydin, a small smithing villiage in the Northern part of the human plains.
The guards in front of the tower are quick to let you in at the mention of your names. After you are escorted to a dining hall by different guards. Once there you are greeted by a man who introduces himself as William. William apologizes on behalf of Lady Sarah and says she should be here soon, but insists that you have a seat and enjoy one another's company until then. A number of servants bring food and drink but avoid eye contact.
I take a sip of wine and start talking to the person to the right of me "Who are you? Have we met?"

Qoten was... curious.
He'd been brought to this location by invitation. And that was where his testing had begun - the courier didn't mention what was in the letter, exactly. It was a test if he could read.
Curious, and a bit bothersome; the standard procedure from a human noble was to vocalize the request with respect. Still, Qoten could handle a mild test or two. He wasn't particularly bothered by what the human nobility did; he wasn't one.
At the entrance to the tower, he noted one of the guards staring at him during his entry. It took a moment to read him - that wasn't the 'skeptical' look, nor was it a hostile look. It was more of an astonished look than anything else... the human likely had never seen an orc before.
Qoten stood at a massive 6'4, and had deep emerald skin. He's extremely muscular - arms rippling with strength, legs similarly thick from walking. He was wearing a vest, and it was open, showing that he had a lifter's build from a strongarms - he didn't lift weights, so his stomach was firm but smooth, whereas his upper body, arms, and legs were muscular. He was barefoot, and wore shorts that were the deep blue-and-white colors of his tribe. Beyond his vest, baggy shorts, and backpack, he wasn't wearing anything else.
Now, to an orc, he'd be likely more compared to a human than to an orc. He was short for his tribe, after all, and his tusks were painfully small, not to mention his hands weren't nearly large enough, his ears were far too human-shaped as opposed to large and batlike, and his legs were overly long. The only thing which seemed particularly orcish about him to an orc was his skin color, which was a very deep green.
But that was his lot in life.. he was an orc to humans, a human to orcs.
All of this brisked through his head in the flash of a moment. His statement of 'Rexob Qoten' let him in (After a moment of the designated guard looking... he'd forgotten that humans name their personal names first, then their family names. Which was absolutely backwards in his mind, but hey).
People who knew tailoring would know that his clothing was of astonishingly good quality despite being very thin - comfortable, but firm. He'd spent a lot of time working on it.
Inside, he glanced around at the food. Very much human-based - some meat, but not a ton of it, and everything was there to be split into smaller portions. Fortunately, he'd inherited his incredible stomach from his orcish side, and thus could handle about anything. Opening his mouth, he placed an apple into it and swallowed it whole, relishing in the small bump it made on his slightly elastic throat on the way down. He sat down into a chair, fairly hard, and sat there, his ears shifting towards sounds.
His eyes shifted over the empty seat next to him, to the man who had spoken, and responded. "I do not think we have met. I am Rexob Qoten. 'Course, humans find it appropriate t'explain their own names first, eh?"
(OOC: Hope I got the right flavor and feeling down - I'm unsure how this particular RP will work, heh, so hopefully this helps)
2007-12-18, 09:54 PM
Next to Quoten sits Mordak, mumbling and trying to transform his food. He
looks disgruntled, and observes the conversation to the right of him without contributing to their thoughts.
2007-12-18, 11:12 PM
Sitting at the table, Omara fills her plate with food making sure to get some of the more unfamiliar dishes in addition to the familiar ones.
"Well, I suppose we might as well introduce ourselves. My name is Omara Bast, an alchemist and minor study of the arts of Evocation. I'm not sure what this offer that Lady Windrage has for us is, but I suspect she has more in mind than a large shipment of Thunder stones."
2007-12-19, 09:30 AM
A half-elf sits across the table from Mordak, pointing at her food for a few moments (with a fork, thank you very much) before having a tentative sip from her glass - and then another, much more certain (and larger) one. She is somewhat on the tall side, although not stunningly so, with a slightly ragged look that indicates she didn't spend a lot of time preparing. In fact, this time was likely none at all, given how her straw-blond hair looks - and that she received her invitation quite recently, and in a middle of a research experiment, was only half of it. From what's visible from the table, she wears simple dark grey robes of good make and maintenance, a decorative shawl, and no jewelry apart from a single earring.
She doesn't seem particularly interested in her environs at first, although eventually she picks up the theme of the convesation. Not unless she is under the impression that we are teamsters, and I doubt that's the case. Well, I can't help but wonder about him. I am Khemalee, by the way. Nice to meet you.
The red robed man who first spoke said "My name Dave"
He then took another sip of wine, raising his voice this time, he spoke again, "Wheres the Windrage lady!"
2007-12-19, 05:20 PM
The servants jump at Dave's raised voice, one of them even drops a tray. William comes over to the table.
"Let me apologize again on the Lady Sarah tardiness. I am certain she will be here shortly.", he says return to the servant who drop the dish, and striking him with the back of his hand. At the same time while William's back is turned one of the servants drop a piece of paper on the table quickly before running back to the kitchen.
Help us. William and his men have taken Lady Sarah and is stalling till it's too late.
(OOC Note: Love the characters so far.)
Dave whispers to Omara, "Ready a magic missile to capture William" Dave then finished off his glass of wine.
I ready a ray of frost under the table
2007-12-19, 09:31 PM
Qoten... raised an eyebrow, at Omara.
Interesting. She very vocally stated that she utilized evocation. Of course, odds were that anyone who knew what specifically 'evocation' was wouldn't cause problems, but that was still a surprising statement to hear, as he was used to people keeping silent about their professions.
Introductions went around, and he factored them all away in his head, just for now, noting the reaction of the servants. He placed one hand to his chin as the note fell, glancing at the others - it was fairly clear the note had been read.
He stood, then, covering the paper with one hand as part of the pseudo-casual standing motion. If there was anything an 'orc' could do well, it was to be a distraction - he was good at gathering attention.
Thus, he shifted a little closer to William, keeping his tone pleasant. "Sorry... I don't mind to be impatient. I can see that your servants are also nervous. Is it possible we can help her finish what she is doing? Most problems can be solved by multiple people with keen minds all working on it, after all."
He'd been raised for some time among orcs, and thus kept his hands away from the orcish double axe on his back - he didn't want to seem hostile with the question, just curious.
2007-12-19, 11:33 PM
A small thin gnome enters the room, flanked by a large man.
The two appear polar opposites. The gnome is small, thin, richly dressed with an arrogant condescending frown for everything he sees. The man appears tall, bulky, in bland robes, and a blank smile on his face. The gnome carries a small pack and wisps as he moves. His companion carries nothing but a comically large axe, far out of proportion to his body, and he moves with an almost supernatural silence.
Upon entrance to the room, they head for a place at the table. The man stands behind the gnome while he climbs up onto the chair. Standing there, he frowns at the food, his natural paranoia kicks in and he pulls out a hip flask for a drink.
The tall man is a silent image spell that Fonkin concentrates on when traveling. He uses the man as a distraction if combat comes up, and as a deterrent against those that may attack a lone gnome.
2007-12-19, 11:47 PM
"Hmm?" she looks at Dave quizzically. "Why do we need to..."
She turns to look at William, pondering the situation. She could use a magic missile or two to attack... but that could kill him. She thinks for a moment and looks at the ceiling, checking to see how much clearance William has over his head. If its at least fifteen feet, she could probably create a Fiery Burst right over his head to light his hair on fire... that ought to intimidate him enough to surrender. She also looks to see how many lit candles or other sources of fire there are, or if she would have to make some.
Of course, she would probably need to know why they had to capture him, yeah. That would be something to find out.
Dave, seeing Omara's confusion, explained "we need to capture him to interrogate him"
Dave checks to see how many guards are in the room
2007-12-20, 07:08 PM
the ceiling is about 20 feet high. There are only 2 guards in the room. William replies, "Lady Sarah is simply preparing her offer. I imagine she will not be much longer."
Dave whispered to Omara again, "Omara, you take the guards down, I'll hit William with a ray of frost, Not enough to kill 'em, but hopefully enough to get him to surrender"
Now Dave spoke to everyone, quiet enough so William and the guards didn't hear him, "Eveyone, prepare to cast spells to capture/kill the guards"
2007-12-20, 10:48 PM
"Okay." She replies and prepares to strike with a burst of fire as soon as someone else starts casting. If both guards are close enough, she tries to hit both of them. Otherwise she goes for the one closest to her.
Fiery Burst reserve feat. creates a 10-foot radius burst of fire
Damage: [roll0] Reflex save DC 16 halves damage.
Dave leans his head into the middle of the table, and speaks softly, "Everyone, ready to use your skills to save lady windrage?" Dave looks around to see if his fellow casters agree with him.
2007-12-21, 05:19 PM
Say, can I have a quick description of William? I know what I'd like to do, but it may change depending on what he generally looks like
2007-12-21, 05:49 PM
Dave looks at everyone at the table, "Everyone, ready to use your skills to save lady windrage?" Dave looks around to see if his fellow casters agree with him.
((OOC: wait, is this loud enough that the guards can hear us? Also, what does William look like? Is he strong, frail, armed or mage-like?))
((OOC: no, like in a low voice or something, I'll fix it, and we need an out of character thread))
2007-12-21, 08:46 PM
Williams is physical tall but thin. He is wearing fancy clothing and no armour.
(OOC: fiery burst off now or when everyone acts?)
2007-12-21, 09:12 PM
((Ditto on the OOC thread. Anyway, did Alter Self remain legit for this game or was it banned?))
The half-elf remains with one hand on the cup, but her other one falls to her waist as she innocuously (and quietly) says Pardon me? I didn't hear right.
2007-12-21, 10:56 PM
Fonkin in a normal speaking voice, What is all this nonsense? Saving who? As he glares at the stranger attempting to take charge.
2007-12-21, 11:22 PM
Before she attacks, (I did say she is waiting, so I guess its a readied action) she whispers to the others. "Well... I will glady use my skills to help out Lady Windrage. But I'm afraid I don't have much in the way of non-lethel or non-pyrotechnic spells prepared. If anyone has can just knock the guards out or put them to sleep that might be best."
2007-12-22, 06:53 AM
Qoten glanced at the remainder of those assembled.
Again curious. Odds were, there was more to this event than met the eye. After all, Qoten knew nothing of the political structure behind this; perhaps this was a ploy by Lady Sarah, to get them to act. Or perhaps a lot of things, but he had noted how the servants had reacted - he'd interacted with goblins enough to know when someone was afraid.
And he was not exactly one to hesitate when his heart told him to act. And thus, with a fierce swing, he both removed and swung his double axe at William.
Part of this, now, was to test the man's reaction. The man had left him his weapon - that implied that he was either stupid, or had a plan in motion. If it was the latter, the open nature in which Omara had revealed her arcane nature suggested that William knew they were mages - and thus was likely to have defenses against this. This was testing the waters, so to speak.
And as usual, this forethought was here and gone in a flash, as only the effects of his swing remained.
Hm. I'm putzy with the board roller, but:
[roll0] + 5 (To-hit)
[roll1] + 4 (For damage, if necessary)
Dave grabs the note and gives it to the gnome.
2007-12-22, 11:34 AM
Taking the note, Fonkin sniffs contemptuously, Well that's nice, this is a waste of my time. She shouldn't have called me here if she wasn't ready, I wait for no one.
With that Fonkin drops the note, jumps down from his perch and heads for the door, the big man follows behind him. If no one stops him, he will position himself to Color Spray William and the Guards. If one of those three attempts to stop him he will send Turin (the big man) through the door and tell them that he is going home.
OOC:((I am I really the only one that has noticed that as of right now I'm the only one that has actually read the note, and everyone else is just playing a game of "omniscient character?" Unless the note is a written on a white board you'd have to pick it up to read it, and no one has said anything about their character actually paying attention to the note at all. You've all just decided to follow the orders of the crazy guy who's acting entirely on OOC knowledge.))
2007-12-22, 01:18 PM
Mordak prepares to use Launch Bolt for when the fight begins. He sits up in his chair and grumbles quietly about having to use magic for battle. Mordak is a pacifist.
2007-12-22, 04:02 PM
Rexob Qoten draws his blade and strikes William. The reaction on his face is anger before he can act Fonkin Unleashes a color spray which the guards fall to the ground out cold and Williams eyes glaze over white.
(Sorry for such a delay in reply, RL stuff was busy)
Dave shoots a ray of frost at William, doing [roll0] damage. Dave speaks "Surrender or die!"
If William doesn't surrender Dave shoots a scorching ray at him.
2007-12-23, 02:02 PM
William steps back when the ray Strikes him. "Ah, I can't see. I surrender.", he says as he lowers to one knee.
Dave looks at the guards "Drop your weapons!" Dave commanded.
2007-12-23, 04:38 PM
(OOC: The guards are not awake.)
2007-12-23, 06:37 PM
(OOC: Because I knocked them both unconscious and blinded William, while you were busy doing 3 damage.)
(OOC I thought you just got William!)
2007-12-24, 01:29 AM
"Ah, that should work."
She reaches into her bag and pulls out a length of hemp rope and some shears. She proceeds to bind Williams hands and feet as soon as he drops his weapons. She uses the shears to cut off what length of rope is used to bind William so she can bind up the guards as well.
If anyone else offers to help tie up the guards she cuts off some 5-foot lengths for them to use.
2007-12-24, 09:12 AM
The guards and William are bound, William's eyes return to normal and the guards wake up. William looks up at the lot of you, "How did you know?"
2007-12-24, 10:09 AM
The half-elf shrugs as her colleagues do the work for her, and gives William a half-smile. It would take a few years of training to understand it... Let's just say we have our ways.
"Why did you? What did you have to gain?"Dave looks at Omara to see if she's done. If not, he helps.
2007-12-24, 11:31 AM
"Plenty, although these peasants love the Lady many with powers far beyond her little villages and guard do not. She wants to bring the more powerful to the same level as these pathetic servants. With all you yourselves have given up to learn the mysteries behind the Arcane, do you feel that you should be entitled to rise above the mass? Or course you do. No one can change the world. Besides you may as well let me go, I am certain by now my partner has already taken Sara north to the drop off point by now."
"Where is the drop off point!"
2007-12-24, 12:38 PM
Of course skilled Arcanists are superior to street rabble. This will never change. But this has nothing to do with the Lady's work. What could she being doing that threatens you so? Are you not sure of your superiority? Are you not confident?
After reading that, it appears to be an attempt at Diplomacy [roll0] though I hate to roll with my crappy modifier. I like the words better.
2007-12-24, 02:20 PM
"The drop off point is in a clearing of the forest North of this tower. But by now she should be there.", he turns his head towards Fonkin, "Lady Sarah plans to devise a way that all races may learn the Arcane as equals and to make it much simpler to research for those lesser wizards. As for me, lets say I know my own abilities and where I stand."
2007-12-24, 02:55 PM
Khemalee watches on with interest. In times like these, I can't help but regret I didn't study more mind-magic... oh well, perhaps any of the others will have a trick or two up their sleaves. Let's see if this one is as talkative as he appears. How delightfully ironic. Well now, one way or another raising a hand against Lady Sarah is a serious offense against law and Union. If she's not returned, or Gods forbid, if she's dead, you'll pray for a swift death - I rather doubt your patrons will view you as important enough to merit support.
She pauses a little, taking the measure of the man. If you value what little of your life is left, I suggest you cooperate with us. What did you plan on doing with the lady, and where would you take her?
2007-12-24, 04:17 PM
a short laugh escapes his lips, "We were to bring her alive, so unless she taken the liberty to end her own life, she still breaths. As for my life I accepted the chance of my capture, but it would be better then failing this client."
"Client? Who's the client?!" Dave starting thinking of the many tribes, could one of them be this "Client"?
2007-12-26, 08:35 AM
a thin smile appears on his face. "the College of Arcanum. Or at least a wizard who works for them I am not certain which. The school's seal was at the end of the hiring document."
2007-12-26, 06:28 PM
"You're not certain which?" Omara looks at the tied-up William. Raising an eyebrow. "Let me get this straight... you kidnapped Lady Windrage, who is one of the most powerful people in the realm and loved by many, for somebody who you don't even know, and did this right on the very day that a bunch of people with the power to re-write creation are invited to engage in business with her?"
She holds her pair of shears in one hand and promptly snips off a length of rope long enough to use as a gag.
"So tell me, what the hell did you personally hope to gain form all this? Because you better hope it involves the power to regrow lost limbs."
2007-12-26, 06:57 PM
The half-elf looks at her colleague with some not-so-veiled amusement, but the prisoner's comment draws a chuckle from her. A hiring document, for that job? If I see it, I'm patching you for free or giving you a burial when she's done. That's starting to sound a little too improbable...Still, as the old man said, we are in the impossibilities business. I suppose I should have paid a little more attention on those college gatherings...
She appears lost in thought for a moment before catching Omara's hand. Anyway, miss, I think you have to be with the official agencies to do the kind of thing I think you're planning... Or a blood relative of the aggrieved party. Do try not to get too far; I don't know you long enough to get in trouble on your behalf.
((Knowledge: arcana: [roll0] to remember anything about political or other divisions in the College that may be relevant... I suppose local could also apply, but I assume that arcana also covers basic information about the organizations of magic practitioners.))
2007-12-26, 10:05 PM
William's turns to Omara, "Interesting comments.", then turns to Khemalee, "That document is with my partner. But since I am certain he will be back afterword, I am sure you may have a chance to see it."
2007-12-28, 05:57 AM
The half-elf goes back to the table, taking another long sip of the drink. Hm, those glasses are kind of small. You keep at it, dear colleagues, I think I'm going to check the kitchen, and hope those were all of William's men she says, nonchalantly, heading for the door the servants came from.. When she's out of sight, she looks around carefully to see if there are any servants nearby. If so, she beckons to the first and asks him quietly Hey, do you know just what happened to the Lady?.
2007-12-28, 03:20 PM
As Khemalee leaves the discussion you see a servant peeking through the door to the kitchen. After hearing the question he answers, "They took Lady Sarah only a few minutes before you arrived. Their was many of them, one of them wore a black suit of armour. I think he was the leader, that thing in there was with him. After they left it changed it's features to look like the Lady's personal servant William. I think the sealed the real guards down stairs.", He appears to nervous.
2007-12-29, 08:58 AM
Khemalee nods to the servant in thanks and asks, in the same hushed voice Are there any more of them than those in here?. If he (or she, what gender is the servant anyway?) says no, she would continue Then lead me to them... Actually, no, wait. Hey, er, Rexob! Come over here, you've got to see this. she continues by calling for the orc-blood loudly.
2007-12-29, 10:39 PM
"I think so. I know at least two at the door the the basement where they locked up Lady Sarah's personal Alchemist."
2007-12-30, 08:24 AM
The half-orc... had been watching William intently.
Curious. The human was a veritable fountain of information.
Now, he wasn't exactly the best judge of people, but he was watching intently - it seemed he simply didn't have a spine. Or, potentially, that he valued his health more than he valued his reputation.
Still, Qoten found his responses curious, which is why he didn't immediately shift when asked to shift, keeping his eyes intently on Willaim a moment longer, before walking over.
"What did you have in mind?" Qoten could correct her as to his name later - it wasn't particularly focal now, and being referred to by his tribe's name didn't particularly bother him.
2007-12-30, 08:13 PM
Khemalee had frowned when she heard there were two more intruders, and she gives Qoten a thoughtful look as he comes by. I don't trust that over-talkative snake, and this man said he changed his shape to look like the real William. Anyway, there are some more of them - two, apparently keeping guard over the Lady's alchemist. We ought to handle them, but someone should stay to look over those ones, she says, nodding towards the prisoners. Do you think you have something to take care of a guard or two, or should we call for some of the others to come?
2007-12-30, 10:52 PM
Omara listens to the conversations. So the 'William' they have tied up is an impostor? They should probably go find the closest person in charge... or at least someone who can give her the permission to take that annoying smile off this impostors face.
"I'm not sure what this is all about, but I'm willing to help you guys get things sorted out. I have some spells prepared, one that can disguise me, one that grants invisibility, another that makes fire explode and blind people... and a ray that really messes with peoples coordination. The others are mostly used to light things on fire."
She reaches into a pocket and takes out a little jewelry box, opening that, she pulls out a small bright pearl.
"I made this a while ago, it can help recall a simple spell once a day." She holds it out to the gnome. "I think that spell you used to take out these guys will come in handy. I can let you prepare it again from this if you wish."
Slyly she adds "Once this is over with I can give you a decent price for your own."
2007-12-30, 11:42 PM
I've heard of such items, though I lack the power to make them myself. Fonkin takes the Pearl and concentrates, pulling his memories back together.
Handing it back to her, he smiles, The only thing I worry about is this man, based on how little it affected him he must be strong indeed. I now understand his confidence, though he his openness does surprise me.
2007-12-31, 02:10 AM
She puts her pearl back in its box and puts it away.
"Yes, I must say he didn't seem very worried... and the servant said 'it changed its features'... I wonder."
She looks back at William and then holds up her shears. (They are part of her crafting tools... yeah, thats the ticket)
"I think that our friend here is either a doppleganger or a spellcaster who used a disguise spell. The servant said they took the Lady a few minutes before we arrived. This is either a disguise spell, some kind of shape-altering spell, or a natural shape changing ability."
She turns to the others. "Do you think he could use a haircut? If he's a spellcaster the hair should change color, doppleganger it should turn into scalp."
2007-12-31, 05:49 AM
((BTW, could we emulate that William's voice with ghost sound?))
Wait, you said something about a man in black armor... What happened to him, is he among the people here? Khemalee asks the servant, frowning that everyone has come here when she was trying to be sneaky.
Dave asks "Does anyone mind if I blow up "William"?"
Dave gets ready to use scorching ray on the impostor.
2007-12-31, 03:16 PM
The servant, "No he left with Lady Sarah just before you arrived here"
William grins at Dave's comment, he pushes his back against the wall and starts to use the wall to stand up, "Now why would you want to attack me? I think that I have explained why we're here, I have really resisted at all."
2007-12-31, 03:39 PM
I would mind. Though I would mind more because you might provoke him to action where now he seems content to pretend capture.
2007-12-31, 10:16 PM
That's too bad..I would have liked practicing my transformation on him.
2007-12-31, 11:51 PM
Seeing their shape shifting impostor prisoner slowly climbing to his feet while smirking, Omara sighs.
"For the love of... lets just kill this guy, we obviously can't expect him to stay captured and I don't know if any of us are good at wrestling people down. Remind me to get some sturdy manacles if we plan on taking any more prisoners."
She opens the palm of her hand and conjures a burst of fire centered on 'William'.
Fire Damage: [roll0] reflex 16 halves.
She walks up to William and shoves his to the ground again, face down so his bound hands are visible.
She asks the servant. "So, what did this guy look like before he disguised himself as William?"
[[OOC: Sorry guys, I crossed out my fire attack. Not that I don't want to kill him but I realize that setting off area fire attacks could burn the building down. Darn it, I seriously need to get some mundane equipment.]]
2008-01-01, 12:41 AM
With his back to the wall he doesn't really push to the ground but against the wall. The servant, "Well he still looked like a person, just alot different."
2008-01-01, 01:35 AM
Omara uses her shears to cut off some of Williams hair, then holds it away from him to see how it changes.
2008-01-01, 01:00 PM
The hair you cut off quickly turns to sand as it gets more then a foot away.
Dave uses scorching ray on William.
Attack roll:range touch attack [roll0]
2008-01-02, 08:58 PM
The half-elf looks like she would protest at the fire-spells, but eventually just shrugs and comes a bit closer. She appears particularly interested in what happens to the hair afterwards...
Spellcraft check to identify illusion: [roll0]
If "William" is knocked out by the spell but not completely dead, she'd intervene by saying Enough, he shouldn't be any trouble for the time being. . If he doesn't seem quite that hurt, she goes to the evoker and taps her shoulder. Don't forget there are more of his men around. That, and that combat spells can destroy evidence. she says quietly.
If he is quite dead, she will come by and examine the corpse carefully both for the (obvious and less so) causes of death and anything on him.
2008-01-03, 10:44 PM
Omara gets out of the way of the spells and moves over to show the others the sand.
"Strange... his hair turned into sand once I cut it off. My first guess is that... well... in his natural form he's made of sand or something and he altered his shape so this reverted to its natural form when separated. Either that or he's wearing some kind of clay toupee."
She tries to find out what William is or what could cause this.
2008-01-05, 02:52 PM
Dave's ray strikes William who collapses back, his appearance distorts for a moment. Too quickly to see what he returns to the form of William. "How dare you!", William shouts at Dave with a dark eyes. The area struck by the ray seems to shine like glass.
(OOC: Sorry about the wait, family member had to go into surgery and I had to prioritize. )
2008-01-06, 01:06 AM
"I think I know what this guy is... I heard about some kind of rare monster found on the Elemental Plane of Earth. A sand-like creature that can shift into any shape but when bound and questioned it has to give at least a partially true response... kind of like every other creature in the universe."
"If that's the case then I have two questions: After we melt you down to glass, will you reform back on your home plane? And are you willing to sit down, shut up, and wait for the authorities to arrive so that we don't have to melt you down to glass?"
She calls some of the servants over and asks them to send someone to get guards from the town... or wherever they are sure they can get loyal guards from. If William agrees to stay put then Omara lets the servants keep him under watch.
If William refuses to stay captured she uses a fiery burst and has the servants get water. She also recommends the others continue on while she deals with William, no need to wast anymore spells on him.
Fiery Burst (reserve feat):[roll0]
(OOC: Yikes, sorry about the emergency. Hope it goes well.))
2008-01-06, 01:14 PM
William's eyes widen at Omara words. He bows down, "I will behave."
2008-01-07, 05:16 AM
Khemalee rolls her eyes at the entire affair The school of evocation in a nutshell: see the world, meet different creatures, and blast them to pieces.and looks around to see if any of her colleagues is still around and ready to take care of the other guards. Unless the orcblood has decided to join in the "fun," she nods to the door and says Shall we?
2008-01-07, 11:18 PM
Qoten... exhaled, rolling his eyes.
He spent a moment, watching the scene unfold before him.
"Such a blatant disregard f'r life... it's clear that y'can stop attacking him at this point."
He crossed his arms, shaking his head. "As our friend here 'as pointed out - " - He gestured towards the gnome, who had not given his name yet, "- he seems quite content t'be captured at this point, and 'as stated several times dat he 'ntends to cooperate. There is no need t'keep badger'n him, whether with spells or martial talent."
The scene actually bothered him more than he liked. Shifting, he nodded to Khemalee. "Let's. If we run into more trouble than we can 'andle, we can always turn back."
2008-01-08, 12:20 AM
Disregard for life? This... creature worked with those who captured the Lady Windrage, impersonated an official, beat a servant right in front of them, and had seemed... amused at being captured. Once she found out it was a shape-changer she just had to be certain that the thing wouldn't get up and gut the servants when they left... it had certainly seemed inclined to get up even when they were right there.
As it was, the creature was extraplaner... then what was this 'hiring document' it spoke of? Rare monsters from other planes don't just answer to bulletins, someone had summoned or gated the creature here for this job. And it spoke of a partner...
She keeps these thoughts to herself and just listens to what the others have planned.
Though she does open up her spell component pouch and pull out an empty vial, carefully pouring the little bit of 'sand' she had gotten from the creatures hair. If 'William' decides to pull a disappearing act then this could at least provide a focus for tracking him down later. His lack of concern could mean that he intends to planeshift out once his job here is done.
2008-01-09, 10:43 AM
Khemalee and Rexob Qoten go out the door into the hall.
2008-01-11, 02:43 PM
((Is anyone else coming with us?))
2008-01-11, 09:08 PM
Omara steps into the hall with Khemalee and Qoten. "If you are going to free the real guards I would gladly like to help you. I... admit I'm not the best when it comes to dealing with unsavory characters so I would like to get the proper authorities of this castle freed so they can decide what to do with him."
At that last bit she motions in the direction of the shapechanger, she still doesn't like him and frankly wants to get the guards to deal with him before she does.
She looks at the hall they are in, checking how much of the area and decor is flammable or expensive. She starts to wonder why she didn't learn to conjure ice or lightning instead of fire.
Dave follows Khemalee and Rexob.
((I have been having internet connection problems lately, so I can't post as often))
2008-01-12, 12:22 AM
(vivi I understand I have had a similar problem as of late. I will just have you follow the group when you don't post ok?)
As the four of you enter the hall point down the east hall way, "that way, the third door on the left is the entrance to the stairs. At the bottom is the tower cells you should find the real guards and Alchemist there."
2008-01-13, 12:04 AM
Omara moves with the others toward the door and the stairs, heading towards the cells and keeping careful watch for signs of any attackers.
2008-01-13, 05:48 AM
The half-elf looks at the others with interest before proceeding down the stairs. So, has any of you prepared spells that could be useful for subduing those "guards?" I did not honestly expect a battle today, so at most I could soften them up somewhat.
2008-01-13, 01:53 PM
"Well, I have a few on hand... Burning Hands, Ray of Clumsiness, Pyrotechnics... magic missile to a lesser extent, and I can repeatedly create 10-foot wide bursts of fire. Though that generally makes 'subdue' turn into 'light on fire' and there may be a teeny bit of collateral damage in the process."
"It kind of annoys me that Quench is a druid only spell... stupid druids... I'll show them who can prevent forest fires. Not me, because they hog the only spell that would let me."
2008-01-14, 05:56 PM
The half-elf bites her lower lip for a moment, nodding. Yes, it may be preferable to avoid setting the lady's home on fire... and if we can avoid killing those men, all the better. I'm sure the authorities would prefer to question them. I was thinking something along the lines of a sleep spell or some such...
In the meantime, you could always start working on a spell to put out fires, I'd think. My mentor said you can't really call yourself a mage until there's a spell in your book you yourself invented. Anyway, what about you, gentlemen?
2008-01-14, 10:01 PM
"Hmmm... wait a sec, can't we re-prepare our spells if we have 15 minutes? I think we should try a quick strike, go down to the cells, give the fake guards a blast of color spray." she nods to Fonkin, "Get their keys and release the real guards, let the real guards work out what to do, and we can spend 15 minutes getting some proper spells prepared."
2008-01-16, 01:26 AM
The half-orc raised one hand, and there was a momentary shimmer as arcane patterns leapt from it, causing him to glow for an instant before fading.
He then listened to the conversations at hand, responding after the others had.
"I have the capability t'disable with color spray myself." He mentioned. "'though I'm a bit better at calling. Worse comes to worse, I juxtapose m'self in front'f them."
He ran his tongue along his tusks, thoughfully, at the last comment. "Huh, y'can do it in fifteen? Th'only way I've ever found it done was t'rest for eight hours, unless I don't memorize as much's I can in da mornin'. Anyway, dat sounds good t'me. Mind if I lead the way?"
Spell used was mage armour, as a note.
2008-01-16, 07:04 PM
Khemalee nods at the half-orc with a wordless "Good" as they go. Omara's comment seems to slightly confuse her, however, and she gives the evoker (evokress?) a doubtful look. I... don't really follow what you mean. Unless you've had some very special training, renewing your magical capacity should take a good rest and some study. It is certainly possible to prepare spells at a later time, but to regain the capacity to prepare and cast them you'd need a lot more than fifteen minutes.
((OOC: ok, unless I'm very wrong, you can only prepare spells after 8 hours of rest + 1 of preparation. The 15 minute thing is only if you've left empty slots at the beginning of the day and wish to fill them at a later time))
2008-01-16, 08:48 PM
You all arrive at the door to the stairs down.
(Sorry Randel, I am not sure what you are referring to about the 15 minutes.)
2008-01-17, 12:38 AM
((Sorry, I just rechecked the rules (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicOverview/arcaneSpells.htm#wizardSpellSelectionandPreparatio n) and found out I was mistaken. While I can leave some spell slots blank after resting an preparing spells for the day, I can't lose previously prepared spells in order to prepare a new one in that slot. My mistake.))
"Hmm... yeah, I guess I was mistaken."
2008-01-19, 07:31 AM
((Do we hear something? Also, what about whether ghost sound can imitate a certain person's voice?))
2008-01-19, 09:37 PM
Omara puts her ear against the door to hear what is going on on the other side.
2008-01-20, 05:04 PM
Khemalee tilts her head to one side, as if she hears something. Listen: [roll0]
2008-01-21, 08:38 PM
Khemalee and Omara you hear a high pitch voice that you cannot make out the words to, followed by someone sternly telling them to be quiet and stop bothering them.
2008-01-22, 07:44 PM
"Alright, this is getting ridiculous." she says under her breath.
Omara opens the door halfway and looks on the other side. If she sees a fake guard, she launches a fiery burst at it. If she doesn't, then she opens it all the way and walks quietly down.
Move Silently: [roll0] (coincidently, my cat familiar makes me semi-competent with sneaking)
Fiery Burst (if needed):[roll1]
2008-01-22, 08:43 PM
You open the door slightly and see the guards at the bottom the blast takes out the guards in front of an iron door with a bar across it. After the explosion you hear a high pitch voice yell out ,"Who's there?"
2008-01-22, 09:13 PM
Omara opens the door the rest of the way and looks at the scene.
"We're the wizards who were invited by the the Lady to come here today. We were told that shapeshifting monsters had come in and taken over the castle."
She keeps an eye on the downed guards and listens for any sign that others might be heading this way.
Her cat familiar pokes its head out from a special pouch in her backpack, mews, and then pops back inside.
2008-01-23, 08:30 PM
You peer at the downed guards and through the window of the door they were guarding. There is a number of soldiers lying on the ground in the hall of the dungeon. There are cells on both sides of that room and just under the window comes the voice although you can't see who it belongs to, "Yes, open the door I need my herbs to help the guards. I think they were poisoned before being dragged in here. And hurry up there is no telling what they want with Sarah."
2008-01-23, 10:55 PM
"Okay, you may want to stand back from the door though..." Omara searches the downed guards and looks for any keys they might have.
if she fails that, she tries again
If that fails she approaches the doors window, looks down at the prisoner and asks them to move to the farthest corner of the cell they can and carefully starts blasting at the door with her fiery burst until she breaks it down. (after clearing any guards, corpses or other flammable items away from the blast radius)
If she does find the keys she opens the door the safe way.
2008-01-24, 06:38 PM
Khemalee looks around at the downed guards. Well, I didn't expect that. If they aren't moving much, or looking in any way threatening, she crouches by one of them and quickly checks what's the problem.
Heal: [roll0] - diagnostic (check if alive, if alive why are they like that, if dead what killed them)
2008-01-25, 09:01 PM
Omara finds the keys on one of the guards, Khemalee inspects the guards and finds them to be out cold.
"Ok" replies the voice.
2008-01-25, 11:41 PM
Omara gets the key, unlocks the door, and opens it to see who was kept prisoner. "There you are, we found a shape shifter upstairs disguised as the Ladys servant William. Its some kind of sand creature from the plane of earth, it said that Lady Sara has been taken to a drop off point in a clearing in the forest north of here. Can you tell us how to get there?"
If asked, Omara is willing to help the prisoner (who she assumes is the alchemist) get the herbs to heal the guards.
2008-01-27, 12:25 PM
((any indication of why they are KO'd?))
Khemalee stands up, and while she appears calm, there are traces of confusion and mistrust in her voice.Sorry, but first could you tell us what happened here? I doubt the guards just decided to simultaneously take a very deep nap. she says, nodding towards the nearest guard.
2008-01-27, 08:59 PM
Omara pushes open the dorr revealing the owner of the voice to be a goblin, his eyes widen at Omara statement, "We must save her fast."
At Khemalee comment, "I think they poisoned the food, I came down and the intruders were carrying the guards down here."
2008-01-27, 11:45 PM
Omara looks at the goblin for a second and breathes a sigh of relief. "Oh thank goodness, for a second I though you were a gnome."
Hearing the goblin talk about the food, she gets a little worried. "Hmmm... the only ingested poison that causes unconsciousness I can think of would be Taggit oil... and that lasts about an hour or two. I guess if they had poisoned our food with it we would have been knocked out within a minute of eating it."
2008-01-28, 12:07 PM
The half-elf doesn't look any more relaxed. In this case, shouldn't they have left someone to guard them? This only makes sense if they wanted to keep the guards away only for a short time and disappear without... Wait a minute. Who stayed behind to watch them?
2008-01-28, 07:17 PM
The goblin looks at the two Guards infront of the door that were knocked down. From one of the cells in the room you hear a voice, you turn to see a man in his own cell chained hands and feet to the floor, "Ah more guests how wonderful."
2008-01-30, 12:33 AM
Closing her eyes for a second she says, "Who wants to bet a copper piece that the real William is down here?"
She opens her eyes and turns her head to look at the man who spoke.
Spot check: [roll0]
2008-01-30, 04:55 PM
Omara you spot the real Williams as you turn on the floor but the man who spoke you see as well. He is in his own cell chained hands and feet to the walls and the floors. It is hard to see where he and begins and the shadows end. But his eyes glow a deep crimson red as he looks out at you, "Welcome little one.", he says with a grin.
2008-01-30, 09:56 PM
Spotting the real William, she immediately heads towards him and works to release him. Obviously the fellow smiling at her was locked down here before the invaders came, and she couldn't see how a shadowy criminal with glowing red eyes could help them.
"Are you okay, William?" she asks. "We defeated your impostor, do you know how we can quickly get to the clearing in the northern forest where the fiends are taking the Lady Sara?"
2008-01-31, 09:08 PM
William seems to be out cold, like the guards. The goblin brings over a vial of blue liquid for him.
2008-02-02, 04:50 PM
Allow me - this is applied orally, right? the half-elf says, holding her hand for the potion before she squats near William. She opens his mouth slightly and, if she gets the potion and the goblin doesn't give any particular instructions, pours it down after taking a good look and a whiff. After that, she waits - taking a few looks at the chained figure as she does. And who might you be?
2008-02-03, 05:16 PM
The Goblin nods at your question, William seems to start to stir, The chain one answers.
"I am Darren the fallen. Lady Sarah had me hunted and captured because I know that she intends to tear down the magical structure of Arcanum."
The Goblin is quick to interrupt, "You are here because you kill innocent people you fiend. You know that, and Arcanum is hurt most of the races of this world, and Lady Sarah is just trying to help everyone with her plan for a new School."
2008-02-06, 07:43 PM
Omara takes another look at the prisoner and sneers. "Hah, I guess it shows how much you are worth when enemies of Lady Sarah just came in here and practically took the place over... and still left you to rot down in here."
Turning back to William and the alchemist, Omara waits for William to come to so they can get information on the clearing that the Lady was taken to. She frowns slightly, its important that they know what to expect when they head to rescue her but if they wait any longer they might be too late to do anything.
Omara is almost ready to just head out the door and try to find this place herself.
2008-02-07, 08:24 PM
William comes to quickly and tells you that the clearing is on the North path from the tower although weak he attempts to come with you.
2008-02-07, 10:28 PM
"Great, you can help us find the way." Turning to the alchemist she says, "I guess you'll have to hold down the fort until we get the Lady Sarah back."
Unless William gives her other directions, she heads back into the dining area where the impostor is to check on it and let William see it. She helps William out if his weakness makes it difficult to walk.
Turning to the servants who were watching the impostor she asks, "Did anything happen while we were gone?"
2008-02-10, 06:20 PM
The half-elf readies to head back to the dining room before something goes click in her mind. I beg your pardon, is this Darren with the Arcanum? she says with a curious expression on her face.
2008-02-10, 07:32 PM
The Alchemist nods as you help William. Your fake William is still there. At Khemalee question The real William shakes his head, "No. Darren is a monster of a man. When Lady Sarah first discovered the Ancient map he came to take it and kill a number of both guards and common people try to get it."
2008-02-12, 06:31 PM
The half-elf nods curtly at William, but her voice is low. May they rest in peace, and the gods have use meet them when our time comes. However, you didn't answer my question. If he's with the Arcanum, I don't need to tell you we need to be very careful.
2008-02-13, 05:16 AM
"I don't think he is."
2008-02-15, 12:50 PM
The half-elf simply shrugs, and turns towards the exit. ((everyone still here?))
2008-02-15, 07:47 PM
"Every second we spend not rescuing the Lady Sarah is a second more that she remains un rescued!" Omara walks out the exit and heads toward the forest, letting William give her directions to the clearing if he cares to. If he doesn't, she prepares to fall back on the 'remove the forest if it gets in the way' mentality strategy often employed by people with access to fire.
2008-02-17, 08:45 PM
( I think it's just the 2 of you but I will run still. Will look for more players after Lady Sarah is rescued.)
The two of you head out and up the path informed of by William. You are quick but are hear voices far too soon. There seems to be a number of them laughing it sounds like. Suddenly a voice brings silence to the others, "Where in the Abyss is that Wizard. He was suppose to be here a while ago. If we wait too much longer people are going to figure out the Lady is missing. Damn wizard wasting my time."
2008-02-18, 05:28 PM
((Is it a voice we've heard?))
Khemalee holds Omara up - by the sleeve if she can. Sounds like trouble. Do you think they meant the fake Wilhelm? she asks quietly.
2008-02-18, 07:13 PM
Whispering, she responds. "Not sure... that one was some kind of monster. Though these fellows might have mistaken his powers for magical knowledge." Thinking out loud she says. "I have a few illusion spells prepared... one to make me invisible and one to change my appearance. I might be able to disguise myself as fake William and make one of you invisible... or we could just use the real William to impersonate the fake one and one of us be invisible... not sure what shape they would expect their 'wizard' to take." She thinks.
2008-02-18, 07:17 PM

2008-02-18, 07:59 PM
(OOC: no you haven't heard the voice before.)
2008-02-20, 02:03 PM
Khemalee frowns, looking in the firection of the voice with thought. In this case, it might be a better idea if we don't show ourselves at all... They may mean the fake William, but it's still too big a risk. Finding out more about them and the Lady should be our primary concern. she says, before adding "speaking of finding out, we should check notes soon. Working together with another practitioner of the Art is a rare opportunity, I think."
2008-02-21, 10:55 PM
"Well... in that case I suppose I can make myself invisible and then try sneaking in and getting a better look at our enemy. I might even be able to free our Lady."
Smiling to Khemalee, she adds. "Oh, as you know, I can't harm anyone directly while invisible... and I'll try to keep from causing too much indirect damage to the surroundings."
Omara casts Invisibility on herself and sneaks over towards the clearing to get a good look at who is there.
Move silently: [roll0]
2008-02-22, 10:14 PM
You sneak in. There are 4 people other then the one tied in the middle of them that you can assume is Lady Sarah. 3 of them seem quite plain in simple leather armour. The fourth however is wearing full plate and has two swords at his size. You seem to be unnoticed for now.
2008-02-22, 11:55 PM
Omara carefully looks at the group to see if there is any source of fire on them, even one of the guards smoking a pipe.
She then sneaks quietly back to Khemalee, still invisible, and whispers "I see four of them, three look like pushovers but one is wearing plate mail. Lady Sarah is tied up in the middle. I've got a spell that can send out blinding light and maybe distract them long enough to take them down and free the Lady... but I need a small flame as a focus and when its cast you might want to shield your eyes."
"Do you have anything that might take out this group? ... or a tindertwig? I kind of left mine at home."
2008-02-23, 06:58 PM
Khemalee thinks for a moment, before clicking softly with her tongue. Not a tindertwig, no - do you think you could make do with the old fashined flint and tinder routine? As for taking care of them, it might be a problem... But I think I can make sure the armored guy can't do too much. Plate armor tends to be quite heavy, after all.
Ideally, however, we get to take care of some of his in advance. How well are they armed - any bows or crossbows?
2008-02-23, 09:59 PM
"Actually, I think I'll set the grass on fire and then detonate it. Cover your eyes until after the flash."
Omara steps away from the tree until she can get a clean view of the four people around Lady Sarah. Then she uses her Fiery Burst on a section of grass right between herself and them. Since she didn't attack anyone, she remains invisible but now a 5 ft radius patch of grass is on fire.
Then when the four enemies look toward the blaze, she casts Pyrotechnics on the blazing grass to create the burst of Fireworks effect. She closes her eyes tight and looks away just before the blinding flash to avoid being blinded.
2008-02-26, 01:46 PM
((I don't think it would work that way... anything that affects a foe or the AoE of which includes a foe would imo break invisibility. Read the third paragraph))
Khemalee misses her partners words, and is shocked to see - or, rather, detect - the other wizard burst into action. Wait... That thrice-blasted, soot-flinging, reckless flamebrain! So much for cooperation, she sighs, and steps back into the woods so she's not looking directly into the flash, and further away from the men's sight and hearing. She spends the next moment taking some amorphous mass from a pouch on her belt with one hand and tracing a series of sigils with the other in the same trained, less than fluid but still fast motion.
Now if I can time it just right, maybe she won't get the pointy bits of attention she's so eager to get...Sengyi oth mrac y sdut, ozhide na maide frakove samrizhde. ((Cast silent image of three hooded figures at the end of the forest in the opposite direction - behind the blast which the bandits were looking at, one with its arms raised. Ideally, some of the figures will be hidden from some of the enemies. I can change the illusion as I see fit, right?))
2008-02-27, 12:03 AM
Omara doesn't expect to keep her invisibility after casting pyrotecnics, but expects it to blind enough of the enemy that she can pick them off. its DC 16 will save, 2nd lvl spell and +4 to int. Her fiery burst attack just hit the ground and no enemies so she could start a fire with the grass. So she's still invisible until her next turn when she casts pyrotecnics, when she does that, she blinds a few enemies and turns visible.
Invisibility was mainly to get a good look at her enemy and keep it until she starts blasting them. She was in a bit of a hurry to start blasting before her invisibility wore off or one of them heard the whispering.
I suppose she should use her move action from her 2nd round to duck behind another tree or something, but she wants to keep an eye on the enemies to cast spells or grab Lady Sarah.
2008-02-28, 06:40 PM
the three thugs are blinded and the one in armour approaches the illusions and speaks, "Who's there?"
2008-02-29, 12:12 AM
Instead of responding, Omara uses a Fiery Burst on the armored figure, being sure to not hit Lady Sarah but seeing if she can get any of the other thugs with it as well.
2008-03-01, 08:04 PM
Khemalee reaches out to the illusion, trying to fit it to the circumstances - the hooded figure makes a gesture which causes its hands to be circled in flames that arc towards the mailed warrior, while the two at its sides ready their swords and advance slowly and carefully. come on, damn it, get the lady out of here and let's go. she whispers hoarsely, trying to keep her mind on the spell.
2008-03-02, 11:21 AM
Omara turns to the other spellcaster and mouths. "Can't you take this guy out?"
Scowling inside at her partners lack of combat ability, Omara casts Disguise Self to change her appearance to that of one of the now blinded figures in leather armor. Then she quickly heads into the clearing and tries getting the Lady out of there.
If any of the other enemies ask, she pretends shes one of them and asks the guy in armor to hold off the robed guys.
"Where the abyss did that gnome go?!" She screams inwardly.
2008-03-06, 02:56 PM
((Do I need to make a spot/listen check to make sure what she's saying))
If the half-elf hears what she's been asked, she doesn't answer - instead, she appears lost in the concentration of the spell. The mage-figure begins a series of quick, but complicated gestures that leave a slight blur in the air, and moves its lips quickly as a coiled snake ornament flashes with a green light. The warrior figures nod in unison without turning at it, and assume combat stance.
2008-03-11, 10:13 PM
Omara stealthily carries Lady Sarah out of the clearing through the woods. She stops to remove the bindings from her.
"Are you okay, my Lady?"
2008-03-12, 04:10 PM
Seeing that the lady is safely out, Khemalee works on her illusion once again. The mage-figure gestures, and the others retreat back into the woods, breaking into a run as soon as possible, hiding into the woods. The mage-figure itself makes a gesture, and the snake ornament flashes much brighter - and then the mage just fades away.
Drained by the performance, the half-elf goes to rejoin her colleague quickly and as quietly as she can. So, feel like going back yet?
2008-03-12, 08:23 PM
"Indeed I do." Omara nods. Though she tries to sound calm, her heart is beating quickly from their endeavor. The sooner they get to safety the better.
She moves as quickly as possible, bringing the Lady Sarah back to the castle.
2008-03-13, 03:13 PM
((Warlock, you still there? We kinda kidnapped the story line  ))

(Sorry back, been without internet for a bit. Hopefully it will be ok for now.)
You avoid the guard and sneak back towards the castle the princess seems quite great full of the rescue.

"It was our pleasure to serve." Omara says to the newly rescued princess. "Though I hate to bring this up but the villains that captured you had a shapeshifter disguised as your servant William. We captured it and freed the real William... though we might have to do a check on all the people here to make sure there are no shapeshifters remaining disguised as staff."
The wizardess briefly stops at this and then, after briefly cursing her own carelessness, dismisses the Disguise Self spell that let her pass as one of the bandits.
"Naturally, you should have us checked by a qualified expert... and perhaps yourself. Eh, when there is magic afoot then sometimes it pays to be excessively cautious." she adds almost apologetically.

The half-elf appears slightly taken aback by the Lady's gratitude ((I thought she was only a noble, not a princess... )) and appears slightly nervous as she bows at the noblewoman's words.
It was a pleasure, Your Highness? Royalty? Majesty? Highness sounds about right, I guess er, Highness. Everything was more or less in order when we left... We are at your disposal should you need us for anything else Damn, I know I'm going to regret that one

"Sooo... I guess we just rescued the princess and saved the day?" she says kind of offhand. She never saw herself as the princess saving type and imagined that such a feat would be quite rewarding. Though if talk of hands being given in marriage started popping up then she would be less enthusiastic about it.

The half-elf looks at her dusty robes. Oh, dear, I suppose we get invited to some ball now. And my fairy godmother is so late I might as well start pushing my pumpkin and meet her halfway. she says matter-of-factly to no one in particular. She sighs, and looks back to the noblewoman. At any rate, Milady, could you tell us more about who those people were? It would be prudent to know more about them so they do not get so lucky again.

(I suck my bad for the lack of posting recently.)
The Lady shocks out of the daze she was in due to excitement. "I am so sorry I was lost in thought over the whole ordeal. I don't know who those men were but I am almost certain they work for Arcanum some how. I am sorry to put you in such a situation. I can see your a couple of the wizards I sent invitations to. I was hoping to discuss this in a much more suitable place but, my reason for drawing you all here is to ask you if your interested in helping me found a wizarding school for all races of this world. Open to any noble and bright enough to learn the secrets of the Arcane Arts."

(Ok, background check here. Doesn't the Arcanum technically encompass all mages, regardless of race?)

woah, I was just about to give up on this thread. Is there an OOC thread of this game I'm missing?
Omara considers this. "Hmmm... I never really saw myself as the teaching type... but it never hurts to try."
Thinking it over some more, images of buildings being constructed, tomes of knowledge being brought together... expensive arcane components and magical equipment being supplied for her to work on her projects... money making projects.
"In fact... I think its an excellent idea, Mi'lady and I wholeheartedly support your idea. The more widespread knowledge is the more opportunity it has to grow! And of course such a school should be set up to help bring magic into practical everyday uses... like magic items."
She ponders this, the gears in her head whirling as she considers the viability of getting dozens of students to work through 'potions class' making magic elixirs the school could sell for huge profit... though they'd best be careful not to let the stupid kids waste too much ingredients.
"Why, I think I could hammer out a combined class curriculum, fund raising program, and grading rubric before we have the plaster dried in the alchemy workshop." she starts to rub her hands together in anticipation.

The half-elf thinks for a while, and appears to be far from decided one way or another for several minutes, before finally shaking her head. I'm afraid I do not know enough myself, so that I can teach others, milady. I suppose I could manage an assistant position, but my specialty is a field where one needs to have a bit more experience than I have - in more than one way.
Still, some study could help me set some time and money aside for some proper research... she appears to think out loud, before going back to the topic. What did you mean by "noble enough", milady?
