Not sure if this should go in media discussions or in silly message board games. I'll post it here for now.
This quiz is supposed to be mean. Ask any difficult, tricky or otherwise devious questions you like, and other people will try and answer them. If your answering be careful - you may think you've got it right, but the truth may be otherwise.
A rule, though - don't ask any questions that rely on higher-level education. Not everyone here has that First-Degree Honours Chemistry Masters you're so proud of. Avoid really technical or long-winded questions, please. Otherwise, have fun!

My starting question:

What is the common name of the species ursus arctos?

Polar Bear?

what language does the English word "Boondock" come from? (aka, what language did we take the word from, after mispronouncing it)

Polar Bear?

I believe that ursus arctos in fact refers to the brown bear.

Edit:
Does 'boondock' come from Tagalog?

Filipino.

In Norse mythology, the god Thor was intimidated by a large clay giant. Name this giant and why it was unable to totally destroy Thor, but only scare him.

yes, ursus arctos is the brown bear. I knew someone would say polar bear - that's why these questions are fun. The polar bear is ursus maritimus.

Boondock is derived from the Tagalog bundok - "mountain."

Mokkurkalfi, who threw his whetstone at Thor, but Thor clove it in half and then his servant killed Mokkurkalfi.

In the movie Reservoir Dogs, in what order (chronologically) are the criminals killed, and by who?

Not quite. It might be different in the versions you read, but the whetstone thrower was...Thrym? I don't recall the exact name, but Mist Calf did nothing aside from cowering (his heart was too small for his body). Thor's servant Thialfi did take out Mist Calf, though, so you're half right.

If you mean the king of the Ice Giants, then that would indeed be Thrym.

Mist Calf's heart grew three sizes that day...

Brown, by the cops
Yellow, by Orange
Blue, by the cops
Orange, by White
White, by cops

Pink was shot at off screen, dont know if he died or not.

Yellow and Blue might be reversed, i'm not sure.

if that is correct, i'll leave the question to whoever wants to take it.

Where was the most successful robbery in Vegas, when, and how was it beaten?

Finally! Someone that shares my sentiment. There isn't a single person in my entire social circle that is doesn't worship that show.

edit:
Wasn't the most successful robbery performed by a hippie who got out the doors before the guards shot him?
(Everything I know about Vegas comes from Ocean's 11 :smalltongue: )

Name the casino where they stole it from, name the year, and how was the robbery stopped.

I'm just gonna guess here. MGM? Everything seems to happen at the MGM.

Edit: Also, the Firefly thing was entirely a joke. I've never even watched the show.

Going out on a limb here:

Reuben:
And the *closest* any man has ever come to robbing a Las Vegas casino...
[flashback - outside Caesar's Palace, in color. A man runs out, hunched over an armful of cash, followed by three security guards]
Reuben: Was outside of Caesar's in '87. He came, he grabbed...
[the three guards shoot the thief in the back]
Reuben: They conquered.

Correct for the purpose of that question which was asked from an Ocean's 11 standpoint.

Its suet pudding with currants. Yes, everyone laughs the first time, but have you really never heard of it before? I quite like it, actually.
