My favorite is... Storm Serpent. It's the idea that appeals to me a lot. A close second was Flying Spaghetti Monster.

As a devout pastafarian, I really can't not vote for the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I vote for the Inaran Fae for being creepy but not excessivly morbid.

I vote for Roc Golem simply because a giant bird construct that eats people is too cool to do otherwise. =)

Silver Lionling - I like the feel of these guys. Plus, "every cloud has a silver lionling" earns pun points.

Storm Serpent - Elegant and somehow evocative. I kind of like these guys, though I think from your description I see them more as Dragon than Outsider.

Vilapi - I can see potential low-level mayhem using these guys; they'd often be mistaken as a vampire, so a PC bitten by one would probably be terrified, thinking he's going to turn into a vamp.

Wing Dragons - Love the feel. Their attitude and spirit are endearing; you wrote well the idea of zealous, eager, and good-natured dragons. You've obviously thought a lot about the abilities (that Pride in Grace thing, especially, I can tell took a good bit of time at least to figure out how to word it). But it seems like there's some rough edges to be polished off - some abilities you seem unsure of their type, for example.

My vote's going to go to Silver Lionling, with my (ineffectual) second-place vote cast for Wing Dragons - but that's a very close second.

One more vote for the Vilapi.

It is GENERALLY the very nature of the abilities that makes it complex (not unsure exactly). For instance with the Wing Claws: Growing them (or dispensing with them when not needed) is part of the Supernatural nature of the wings, USING them is merely Extraordinary. I was also quite precise about the nature of "Breath of Dreams". The only one I actually had any unsureness of was "On Your Tail".

I'll vote for Heliotoad, which was in my opinion one of the more creative entries there.

I'm voting for the Wing Dragon . I like their feel as a friendly dragon (I can't think of anything better a friendly dragon would do than to give wild rides ).

The wing dragon gets my vote as well. Admittedly, I'm biased in favor of dragons of all natures, but the wing dragons seem to have an innate playfulness about them that I like.

I vote for the Storm Serpent, because I was planning on doing something similar, and I thought it looked...Norse? Eh, it's all Greek to me.

Normally, I wouldnt do anysting so crass as to vote for my own entry, but since I already seem to be getting a handfull of votes, I might conceivably wind up on the top tier...

Vilapi

Disregard this post. I've decided to remain impartial.

also, sorry for cluttering up what should be a straightforeward voting thread.

Wow. Just wow.

Ummmm...Did I do something wrong? Sorry, but I wouldnt mind getting in the top three or four. It'd be nice, thats all. In previous monster contests, creaters werent frowned upon for voting for their entry, were they?

If you think it's in bad taste, I dont have a problem with retracting my vote. I'm not quite clear on the etiquete. :smalleek:

Seriously, I dont want to come off seeming like a jerk.

I always knew of it as an unspoken rule, but hey, whatever suits you.

I considered making it a rule you can only vote for another, but sometimes one's own entry is truly one of the best, so I leave it up to the conscience of the voter.

Now, I do find myself a trifle annoyed when, as it has been in certain occasions, where the majority vote for themselves and you can see that some entries aren't even in the same league as the others. Not to mention when the creator are the sole voters for their own. Then you know something is up.

Basically, read them out, vote for your favorite, and if that ends up being yours, go for it, but at least be truthful with yourself.

That's part of the reason I never vote for myself. Though I think the heliotoad is one of my most imaginative creations and I've got a great campaign to stick them into.

I don't mind people voting for their own, but only if they give a good reason.

Speaking of that, heliotoad gets my vote as well.

The silver lionling, wingbane gilder, and to a lesser degree the roc golem also stood out to me.

After much deliberation I am going to go ahead and vote for the Silver Lionling. Secondary is Wing Dragons.

I really like a lot of these.

I don't want to vote for myself, but I like my Silver Lionlings - they're cute, and pun-named monsters have a long history in D&D (just ask the Beholder).

The FSM, in all of his noodly glory, is cool, as are the Wing Dragons and the Heliotoad. The Wing Dragons are great, but their rather complicated (but definitely not bad) mechanics turned me off a little. I like the Heliotoad, too, but the 40 foot tongue seems a little much (to me, at least), and I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of "popping" mechanic for them (though that may just be my inner sadistic adventurer talkin' :smalltongue: ).

Despite this, though, I have to give my vote to a different entry. I'm a fan of low-level creatures, and I think the Wingbane Glider is a rather unique and fun low-level critter. Despite a few little problems here and there, it gets my vote. It was close though - there are a lot of quality entries here, the ones I mentioned and others besides.

And voting has come to a close.

RS14 wins this month's contest with his creation, the Storm Serpent!

The VT's Choice Award goes to rtg0922's Silver Lionling as I thought the concept was fantastic and I like puns

Congratulations!

Sweat! Heliotoad was only 1 vote below Storm Serpent (which I voted for)! Congrats RS14!!
