I've been using Inkscape for a while, but haven't done much with stick figures. I'm trying to illustrate my chuldren's book parody "If you give a zombie a brain", but I can't really draw a good zombie. I need some other work to push me over the artist's speed bump. Nothing gory, just a slight shade of greenish-gray. And please make them look somewhat lovable. I will not be using / copying anybody's work, I just need ideas.

EDIT: Prefferably non-oots faces. I'm trying not to look too cheap. (that's not an insult. I'm just not awesome enough to produce things like Dr. Bath and Z-Axis)

What about a sort of Chibi/anime style? is it called that?

Big almost squarish head, blunt arms, even a horrible flesh raping demon can look cute like that.

That kinda thing? Thats a chibi orachimaru or somthing?

I was thinking something with a little more shape to the head. Think Erfworld...That head is just lacking a little formation.

URGH!!! I've almost got my avatar done! It's taking me a while...

I didn't know what that was until Il ooked it up on Wikipedia jsut now. Yes, that's similar to the style I'm trying to achieve. Thanks for turning me on to that art.

I still haven't been able to finish my avatar. Resizing is a pain!

Yes it is...

I draw loads in a very similar style, it's really fun.

EDIT:

Here are some sketches that I've done in litrally about 5 minutes, so they're not that great, I'm not sure if this is what you want to go with, but it's my virsion of the style :smalltongue:

I would usualy do it with a pencil first so that I can rub out any mistakes. :smalltongue:

@Yeril: Did you draw that? :smalleek: :smalleek: :smalleek:

Thoes are a little too...is explosive the right word?
I'm thinking something along the lines of the "Uncroaked" peoples in Erf. I like the drawing scheme in that homicidal thingamajig though...

I finished my avatar!

Thanks for the help!

Like this?

Not Inkscape. But you could make something similar quite easily.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to show entrails for children

I think entrails is what my pictures are lacking. :smalltongue:

I like the body scheme Dr. Bath...without hte entrails unfortunatley.

I think I can make something like that.

If I don't show them entrails someone else will when they're old enough to understand and not be scared. And anyway, if we don't instruct children young, how will they survive the zombie apocalypse? Hmm?

I can provide a synopsis!

Here's the head. Did I steal too much of your art Dr. Barth?

I'm having toruble making clothing intersperced with body parts. Stick arms are so much easier. Any suggestions on shading?

EDIT: I just realized I need a little girl to go with this. I can probably use the same style...just less chin.

I did the clothing, but I had to follow Dr. Bath's model almost exactly. I added some other items and shading though...
I'm going to need to find some other way to move / change clothing.

Try a "ball and socket" method. Have the general arm to the elbow, then put a circle just after the elbow, and continue from elbow to wrist from there. Then group the e-w and circle and have the rotation around the circle. That way you can move it about easily and it'll always connect right. It's a bit mannequin, but it can work.

I like Sprocket's more I think, it's very "Zombies ate my neighbours" kinda of stuff, a kind of 1960's cartoony style.
