I have been wondering where i might be able to find online games. Not like looking for a RL group but actually playing online. not DnDOnline:Stormreach though. I would like a RL DM not a computer. please provide a link if you know where i could do this.

If you can wait, 4th edition will have the Insider program that will let you play live games with another person in virtual space.

Do you mean Forum Play-By-Post games, IM game, or something else entirely?

If the first, these forums have them, and this is one of the nicest forum communities Iīve been a part of so I suspect the quality of players and DM (at least in personability) will be better than at least some other forums on the net, though everywhere has "good" and "bad" (being subjective to each individualīs taste) members for RPing with.

If the second then I suggest you find RL friends, Playgrounders, members of other forums, or some combination of the three and RP using some IM program such as MSN or YIM in a group convo.

If the third, then please specify what you mean exactly.

dndonlinegames.com, perhaps?

Actually, web sites I can personally recommend for play-by-post forum games are
1. Here, www.giantitp.com/forums
2. www.plothook.net
3. www.myth-weavers.com

They also might be places to recruit for play-by-email or play-by-chat client games, especially here.

Probably the same as the PHB. It'll make sense for wizards to put the program on a CD and set up a MMO-like server, then shove the whole thing inside the PHB, with the program factored into the cost.

If you're looking for a computer-based MMO-type game with "live" DMs, you could try Neverwinter Nights (1 or 2) -- some servers are better than others, but many have DMs that will do live, custom quests (scheduled or impromptu).

I remember seeing that D&D insider will have a monthly fee of $10-15 somewhere on the WotC site, but I'm feeling too lazy right now to look it up.

There are several sites dedicated to chat gaming. Virtual Table Top programs are another option. Here's a couple links:
RPGTonight - free VTT and chat (http://www.rpgtonight.com/)
Fantasy Grounds - VTT, supports d20, Savage Worlds, and possibly more by now. Costs $20-35. (http://www.fantasygrounds.com/home/)
OpenRPG - free VTT (http://openrpg.com/)Most, if not all of them have associated forums which help when it comes to finding players or games. There are other VTTs available as well.

Another VTT, since ORPG was mentioned. IMO, any time ORPG is mentioned, RPTools must be, and vice versa.

RPTools free VTT, token maker, initiative tracker(only slightly useful), and dice roller(admittedly useless) (http://rptools.net/doku.php)

We have a free online D&D chat game, several DMs and a good player base, you're more than welcome to visit and see if we're to your taste!

Another decent PbP game is Vethedar. (http://vethedar.proboards25.com) I just joined there- two genuine DMs, decent world background (with dragons).

I have a game you might be interested in. It is D20 3.5ed Forgotten Realms. Its set in Waterdeep. Currently we have about 25 active players or so and several DM's. It is a chat based game with its own Character Sheet system. The game is continuously running in real time. So even if there are no DM's on at some time you can still log in and chat In Character with other players. If interested please feel free to take a look.
