Personally, I am fond of large 14th-level Fighters who have a) a stupidly large amount of feats and b) can kill things effiecently. I know, no-one likes 14-th level Fighters, as no-one really carries it through, but, meh, I like it.

This class, Fireblade does exactly what it says on the tin - your blades get various fire-themed effects, and you get better at killing beasts/ monsters/ BBEGs/ PCs, etc.

Requirements
Fire Devotion
Weapon Focus with a Bladed Weapon
Weapon Specialisation with a Bladed Weapon
BAB +5

{table] Level | BAB | Fort | Ref | Will | Special
1 | +1 | +2 | +0 | +0 | Flame Blade
2 | +2 | +3 | +0 | +0 | Fire Empathy
3 | +3 | +3 | +1 | +1 | Bonus Feat
4 | +4 | +4 | +1 | +1 | Burning Blades
5 | +5 | +4 | +1 | +1 | Circle of Flame
6 | +6 | +5 | +2 | +2 | Bonus Feat
7 | +7 | +5 | +2 | +2 | Improved Devotion
8 | +8 | +6 | +2 | +2 | White-Hot Blades
9 | +9 | +6 | +3 | +3 | Improved Fire Empathy
10 | +10 | +7 | +3 | +3 | Fireblades [/table]

These Class Abilities apply only to Bladed Weapons with which you have Weapon Focus and Weapon Specialisation, and Flame Blade, Burning Blades and White-Hot Blades may be activated as a Immediate Action.

Flame Blade - your Weapons gain the Flaming quality.

Fire Empathy - you gain the effects of Evasion for any spell or spell-like ability with the [Fire] descriptor

Bonus Feats - any Fighter Bonus Feat

Burning Blades - your Weapons gain the Flaming Burst quality

Circle of Flame - you may attack everyone within Reach, once at your Highest BAB, 1 + 1/2 Class Level times per day - in effect, a Whirlwind Attack

Improved Devotion - your damage increases to 1d12 + Class Level, and you can use it 1/2 Class Level times per day

White-Hot Blades - your Weapons gain the Brilliant Energy Quality

Improved Fire Emapthy - you gain the effects of Improved Evasion for any spell or spell-like ability with the [Fire] descriptor

Fireblades - your Weapons become pure fire, burning brilliantly hot, and cannot be extinguished by any means. Any flammable substances in 25' ignite, and all creatures within 10' catch fire for 1d8+3 rounds. You become encapsulated in a pillar of fire, 200' high, and gain the [Fire] subtype. All enemies within 50' take a Will Save vs 15+Intimidate+Cha for every round for which you are in this state or become Panicked. If they succed by less than 5, they are Cowering, less than 10 they are Frightened, and less than 15 they are Shaken. You and you equipment that you are holding are not effected by the ignition of all creatures and plants nearby. It takes 1 Full-Round Action to enter and leave this state, and it lasts for 1/4 Con Bonus + 1/2 Class Level Rounds per day, split up as desired.

Well, that's it.

go to the homebrew guide at the beginning of the homebrew forum, started by fax celestis. it will help you organize this and make it look good.

Reminds me a bit of the Pyrokineticist prestige class.

Three little points:

1) What is the Fire Devotion requirement?

2) giving a +6 (epic) enhancement to fighter's blades at L13 seems a little over powered. Perhaps as a cap skill (L15) it would be OK, but otherwise something should be toned down.

3) FireBlades needs a clearer description, and feels overpowered. A DC 35 save or be unable to attack? (15 + 5 cower + 15 ranks intimidate)

If I understood this correctly, a fire devotion is a devotion of some kind to fire, such as worshipping the actual element (shugenja) or maybe coming from a nation or race of fire-worshippers.
Did I get that right?

Similar, yes. Fire Devotion is in Complete Champion, and allows you to set yourself alight for a number of rounds per day. I thought that, due to the capstone ability, Fire Devotion seemed to be in there as a requirement.

Really nice, but needs works on the descriptions and the formatting.
The Fireblades ability is good-looking but way to much powerful. Lower the DC or bow down the area effects.

I like the idea, but it is overpowered. the Fireblades ability especially needs some hedging. I would say make it a #/day usage, lasting some number of rounds equal to relevant ability mod (con? wis?), without such a complicated array of effects depending on the check result. perhaps just a simple shaken or fear effect. its also a bit hard to really understand whats up with some of the class features as you didn't format your descriptions neatly enough. things like effect duration and supernatural vs. extraordinary ability need to be addressed.

but its a cool idea.
