Well, since it's now such a short time until you yanks get it, and the last thread is kinda long, here's a brand spanking new thread.

So, Super Smash Bros, one of Nintendo's greatest ideas ever, is going to soon be bringing a whole new game right to your doorstep, so I bet you're all just bubbling with joy, or wracked with gamegasms. One of the two.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, get yo sorry self over to the Dojo (http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/index.html) for some learning.

Thanks to Brawl's Wifi mode, we GiTPers can finally play each other across the internets, and truly show our skills. To facilitate this, I'll be using this front page to chronicle all the friend codes of whoever wants to play.
For this of us who have really been around, tgva8889 brings you the second part of the list, who have you mastered, and who are you going to when Brawl is released.

So just leave your friend code, mastered characters and favourite new ones in the thread and I'll pop 'em right here.

Oh, before the list though, quick thing.
DO NOT SPOIL SUBSPACE EMMISSARY
Seriously.
Many of us want to experience it for ourselves, so if you ruin it I swear I will bring the wrath of Cat-Muffin upon you.

I would hold off on considering a character "mastered" just yet. I have no doubt that we will have to retrain our skills for the transition from Melee to Brawl.

Unless any of you are Japanese.

EDIT: How many people on these boards are Japanese anyway? I've never actually seen someone with a Japanese location.

Indeed, and the character I had "mastered" isn't in. I'll have to have a look when the game comes out.

Hmm I'll put my name down. I'll have to get back to you on friend code though.

Mastered: Sheik (I don't think I'd call it mastered persay.)
Mastering: I suspect Ike.

Hmm I hope the merry old land of Oz gets brawl with the US. If not we're probally waiting till after europe :frown:

Mastered isn't so much Who are you going to win straight away with in Brawl?
More, Who was your best in Melee?
I mean, I would have put down Pichu, but that was more a matter of spite than being good.
I'm guessing yours was Mewtwo Doihaveaname?

The Duskblade

Ahh pichu the only thing more evil then destroying your opponent with a large yellow rat, is destroying your opponent with a tiny yellow rat that hurt's it's self.

Yes, I was also good with Pichu but not with Pikachu, likewise with Young Link and Link. You could say that Toon Link is the one I've "mastered" as he's just a redesigned Young Link. I am really looking forward to fighting as Pokemon Trainer and Lucario though.

Well, it's still a looong time since we get Brawl (goddamn it, Nintendo! Europeans are people too! We even pay more for the freaking games!), but still, I am pretty certain of who I'll be using.

Mastered: Jigglypuff, Marth
Mastering: Metaknight (because I have always thought he was awesome), Pit (because of nostalgia value), Lucario (because he looks like the Mewtwo replacement)

Say, on a subject that doesn't involve me making edits,
Anyone else seen Lucario recovering? He seems to dash and stick to walls.
Looks a lot better than Mewtwo's Teleport at the least.

A better recovery than Mewtwo's? Man, lucario is looking interesting. I mean, pretty much the only thing Mewtwo had going for him was having one of the best recoveries in the game (huge jump plus an up-B very useful to get past edgeguards). I'll have to find some videos of it. To the youtube-mobile!

Okay here's my list of characters;

Mastered: Mario, Luigi, Dr. Mario.

Mastering: Bowser, Mewtwo, Samus, Link.

That's it right there. Though I'll use Lucario instead of Mewtwo, and the Dr is just a Mario that hits harder and harder fly off.

Hurray, new thread!

I'd say that I've Mastered Marth and Falco. I'm not currently mastering anyone, as I've not actually picked up Melee in about a month or two, as none of my family want to play and my friends live too far away. :smallfrown:

From this point on, I think I'm going to refrain from Dojo. It's going to be a long wait for us Europe-goers. *sighs aloud*

I'm in.

Friend Code: Not known yet, do we have to have friend codes for the Wiis and Super Smash Bros Brawl? Or just Brawl?
Mastered: Marth, Link, and Fox (I might be pretty good at Ike picking up)
Mastering: Metaknight (awesome), Snake (always wanted a bazooka in it), and finally Pit (pretty cool, a bow and can fly).

I had fun with Mewtwo's up-B in some one-on-one matches. My enemy would come towards me, BING! I'm on the other side of him. He rushes again, BING! Soon results in swearing and physical harm, shortly after maniacal laughter on my part.

I would say... Mastered: Pikachu and Marth.

Mastering: Like I said before, I don't really choose one person to master, I just go with my gut and whoever looks like fun for each match (I'll probably be picking 'random' for most of my online matches) but if I had to choose, I'd say Meta Knight. And maybe Lucario. Ooh, and maybe ROB-- I DON'T KNOW! Bah, I pick Meta Knight, Lucario and Pikachu. :smalltongue:

Oh, and thank you, cat-muffin, for the Subspace Emissary spoiler barrier. That truly is the one thing I really don't want to know about.

Ooh! OOh! Me me me! This sounds exceelnt fun.
It'll probably be like, june by the time the EU gets it. :smallfurious:

However, I have Mastered Roy (and sorta marth, but not properly) and intend to be mastering Ike. Hooray, Fire Emblem!

Hey! Why isn't my name on the list in the first post :smallmad: ? Have I not shown my dedication to this game? Don't answer that.

Oh well, here are my characters. What I consider Mastered is a character I've played a lot, and can beat a team of 3 lvl 9 computers with.

Mastered (in order from most used to least) : Link, Samus, Kirby, Mario, Marth, Luigi, maybe more, I'm just that good!

Will master once it's released in America (in order from most wanted to I want, but would still rather use the most wanted) : Pit, Meta Knight, Ike, Zero Suit Samus.

Now if you will excuse me, my cat is throwing up on the computer.

Well the problem was it didn't do any damage. Lucario's does just that. I think.
I haven't seen that much of him to be honest. He's not Dedede, so I'm not keeping up with him as much.

I think what people saw was a bit of Lucario's wall cling. You can hang on to a sheer edge for a couple of seconds and then jump off with the control stick like a wall jump. So what I recall was -> UpB under the stage into a wall, accidentally stuck and then jumped back to the ledge or something like that.

Say, on a subject that doesn't involve me making edits,
Anyone else seen Lucario recovering? He seems to dash and stick to walls.
Looks a lot better than Mewtwo's Teleport at the least.

Was looking around for more info on this and according to this thread (http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=140937) he does in fact wallcling.

Up B - Fast warp. Does no damage. Works kind of like Fox's Up+B in that he pauses for a moment (not as long as Fox) then goes in the direction you are pressing. However, he can also change his trajectory while traveling, making him move in an arc, which looks pretty neat. Also, unlike other Up+B's, he can Wall Cling if he hits a wall during it, which is good for extra recovery options.

The other really interesting tidbit was this:
First and foremost, Lucario has a special property no one else in Brawl has - the more damaged Lucario is, the more damage and knockback all his attacks do. It seems to max out at 200% damage. A move that normally did 15% damage did 26% damage when he was at 200%, and knocked the opponent back about twice as far as normal.

Okay, of that huge list which we all have to thank name for finding, the ones that make me happiest are the Animal Crossing songs.
So much K.K Slider, so little time. Only so much room on playlists.
Geese, I never imagined there would be that much music. It's intense.
I challange anyone to find a game that will beat this one for Game of the Year/Millenium.

...I don't actually have anything to say. I just wanted to yell that. >_>

Anyway, that is, quite frankly, an absolutely insane amount of songs. 300 is absolutely epic! It'll be great to have another thing to look forward to upon starting a game, I.E. what music will accompany our fight. I'm a little bit disappointed by the lack of F-Zero songs, though -- there was a multitude of awesome theme songs in F-Zero GX which would have been great. Captain Falcon's himself, or maybe Dr. Stewart (maybe; it doesn't seem right for a fighting game, admittedly) but if I got to choose just one, I'd pick THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdAexkWjnXw) one in a heartbeat.

Once it builds up, I could totally imagine Fox battling Marth at super-speed to that tune. :smallcool:

Edit: While I'm picking songs that won't make it in, I pick this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpHLEm9-0bg) one too.

...what?

Well, maybe we could change Mastered into "I typically play as:" or something. And then "I plan on playing as:", since I'm not sure "mastered" is the correct word. I definitely have not mastered Marth to the degree that most other people have, and I definitely haven't gotten anywhere near close to being really good with Jigglypuff. No idea what my friend code is at this very moment, though.

Edit: I also planned to master Metaknight. Does anyone notice that I like characters with counter moves or protective down-Bs a lot? Except Jigglypuff, her I like because it's fun to kill people with her and it's fun to watch her fly away when she gets hit too hard. Maybe I'm weird like that.

And I saw Lucario wall-cling a few times. And as for that counter? I will master it's usage. You'll all see. Stupid long animation and short counter time...

Oh, and yeah, I'm here. You didn't link it to the other thread, so I went searching for it.

Okay, ya know what. You all deserve this.
Not content with Sonic, huh? The Hedgehog not good enough.
Fine. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytIhZp8vxzU)
Yes it is terrible quality, but I thought I might as well confirm it anyway.

Man, what's with all the things that slow you down? :smalltongue: Luigi's FS, the stopwatch item, and now this! But I'm still glad to see Shadow. Admittedly, Chaos Control is the only thing he could be represented by.

I'm looking forward to using Luigi's FS. Looks very fun.:smallamused:

Mastered: ... used to be fox, but I kind of gave up on him when Brawl started getting close. Too much practice required. As of now, I mostly use Luigi.
Plan on Mastering: Olimar, Luigi, and Pit.

For those who have played Brawl, are there clone Characters like last time, where two characters had the same exact set of moves that just looked different(and maybe one or two moves where different)?

I think there still are. Haven't played it yet, though (I don't think anyone here has played it yet...right?).

And I just thought of this: Does anyone want to see the N64 stages return? I'd like to see Hyrule Castle and Green Greens again, just so I can battle to that classic Kirby music. Na, na, na na na...

Edit:

Mastered: Jigglypuff, Marth
Mastering: Metaknight (because I have always thought he was awesome), Pit (because of nostalgia value), Lucario (because he looks like the Mewtwo replacement)

Wow, do you and I just randomly happen to like almost the exact same characters? I was interested in playing Pit, too, since he looked awesome, but I figured I should probably try something new w/ Pokemon Trainer.

Interesting! SSBB looks like its going to be ever so fun, I'm going to have to chip my Wii so I can get a version shipped from the USA!

Mastered: Ness (on the original SSB, I've never really played SSBM)!
Mastering: Ness, Pokemon Trainer, King Dedede.

Although, we all know everyone will try out every character, these are just my predictions on who I'll use from what I've seen.

So it seems  .

Basically, I started training Jiggs in SSB for the "I just beat you with a sucky character" factor, and ended up liking her. So, when she was buffed in melee, I basically mained her, under much laughing of my friends.

Now, everytime Jiggs comes up in random, said friends just concede the match :smallamused:. And I fully intend to continue that trend.

As for Marth... well, he's fast, and has a sword, which were two huge plusses in my book (and, incidentally, are the main reasons I'm sure I'll be able to pwn with Meta and Pit, since both fit the same description).

But anyway, I should start practicing again a bit of melee if I want to be in shape when Brawl comes out... all that playing non-smash bros fighting games is going to put a damper into my instinctive reactions, given Smash Bros basically requires a completely different mentality than every other fighting game in the market.

Ganon is, disappointingly, still mostly a clone of Capt. Falcon. Some of his animations are different, but so far he doesn't appear much changed from Melee. The Star Fox animals have been altered some; Fox and Falco are still on the same basic template, but the differences have been exaggerated. Wolf is absolutely not a clone. His A-attacks don't use FoxFu, his Reflector is different (so is Falco's, incidentally), I'm pretty sure his up-B isn't even FireWolf. It's been mentioned, but Toon Link seems to be largely a reskinned Young Link. Luigi is still Luigi to Mario; oddly, he seems to have kept the down-B Tornado move where Mario got FLUDD. Ike and Marth are not clones of each other, if anybody still wants to maintain that. The similarities between them are that they both use swords, they come from Fire Emblem, and they have blue hair.

I guess. I'm not a huge fan of this arrangement. I actually perfer the Fountain of Dreams arrangement for this theme. It was definitely more epic.

And the "mastered" list isn't intended to be the "who am I best at" list, more the "expect me to play these characters" list.

I actually prefer Dreamland 64's music... and that level is great for one-on-one matches.

Once I get Brawl and unlock ROB, guess who's getting a beating for being in instead of a better Mewtwo :smallannoyed:. I am NOT AMUSED. It'll be an all-out killspree, first Marth, then Lucario, then PKMN Trainer, then Sonic, then Ike...

Also, add Link to my Mastered list. I'll still have to work on him, as Marth is my only Master o' Melee character, but by the time Brawl arrives stateside, my Link-fu will be strong.

I hum that theme all the time. Seriously. It's classic, like the Imperial March. No matter how many takes there are on that theme, the original is always the best. I meant that I liked the Fountain of Dreams orchestrated version to the Gourmet Race Metal version.

And it is great for 1 v. 1. I've played many a match on it, since it's one of the like 8 stages on my Random Select.

My favorite kirby music would have to be the Meta Knights revenge theme. It makes want Kirby superstar for the virtual console. Why don't they have it?!? [/going insane]

And my second favorite kirby theme is the Vs. King Dedede theme. But, for non kirby music, my favorite is Ashley's theme (Japanese version). Lemme see, link, link, link...

Well, for us in Europe I potentially have some good news on the release date. Owing to my now daily trawls of the interweb in the hope that some information will surface, I came across the following link:
gametrailers forum post (http://forums.gametrailers.com/showthread.php?t=297171)

Put simple a German emailed Nintendo of Europe to ask why Brawl had no set release date, and got a reply, which roughly translated reads as follows:

the localisations for Europe, because of the different translations take a bit longer then for the USA. As things stand now, you can expect it to come out around end of March/ early April. This will be made public on our homepage (www.nintendo.de) and the microsite for SSBB (www.smashbros.com).

That, at least supposedly, is from a Nintendo employee. I'm thinking I'll email them myself, see if I get any sort of response of a similar nature, and of course this employee could be wrong or it could all be a hoax. Still, it gives some glimmer of hope that we might not be sat waiting for months.

I guess. I'm not a huge fan of this arrangement. I actually perfer the Fountain of Dreams arrangement for this theme. It was definitely more epic.

And the "mastered" list isn't intended to be the "who am I best at" list, more the "expect me to play these characters" list.
To each his own:smalltongue:
In any case, the original version is still in the game.

Now to get Wolf you only need to do 450 matches which I think is a wonderful addition. Your wii shouldn't shut off, try changing the options. Also, the 20 hours playtime is devided by the number of human players, so plug in 4 GC controllers and set up a stock match, and it'll only take 5 hours :P Remember to actually win the match rather than quit though.

I just noticed something interesting... in Melee, if you get hit away and sent flying, you're "tagged" by the person that hit you, so that person will get the kill if you die without getting back to the stage. If anyone else does damage to you as you're trying to come back, then THEY get the point if you die. However, landing back on the stage resets the "tagging," so if you come back, walk around on the stage, and then jump off, it's a suicide. You lose a point, that's it. Right?

Now, watch this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGEXUEdQvKg At around 2:34, Mario leaps to his doom trying to attack someone, and gets stuck under the stage and dies. No one hit him during the process. But, Pikachu gets the point! Why? Pikachu hit him with a weak little electric attack, like, 10 seconds before ToD!*

And, after watching the video further, the same thing happens at the very end, with Zelda. (causing her to win, actually. :smalltongue: ) Certainly didn't seem like Mario's death was caused by Zelda in any way.

Maybe the "tag" will go away after a few more seconds of being on land... whatever the case, I kinda like this. More points! Woo-hoo!

AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, HE'S JUST REALLY HARD TO GET. WE REFUSE YOUR LOGIC.

All of my taunt phrases will be set to "FOR MEWTO!", in memory of the only not-clone that didn't make the cut. I'm sure everyone was raving that clone movesets be completely unchanged and that they even bring in a new version of an existing clone.

Surprise, mewto was my mastered, along with Zelda/Sheik and bowser just because. I can't wait to learn the inticacies of Olimar (verdict: guilty! Sentence: Pikmin!) Pit (gliding, midweight, and some built in pew-pew) Lucario (if you do not satisfy the mewto-shaped void, the death will be neither swift nor pleasant) and R.O.B.(...what the hell?).

I don't get how everyone says Lucario's the same as Mewtwo. Does Lucario have psychic powers? I think not! Did mewtwo have an ability to cling to walls? No! The ONE thing we've clearly seen them having in common is the shadow ball-esque attack. Lucario looks much more focused on hand-to-hand combat, being the (I believe) fighting type pokemon that he is.

I didn't like Mewtwo's combat effectiveness as much as his style and uniqueness. The way he mentally controlled items, his dash-attack-with-a-bludgeoning-weapon, his forward throw... all kinds of cool stuff. I'll miss him, but I'll just have to move on and pray that his SSE encounter is as awesome as he deserves.

Try... Yes. Lucario indeed has some psychic capabilities, and is actually slightly more suited for combat using psycho-kinetic attacks such as Psychic, Shadow Ball, and his signature Aura Sphere rather than physical combat through punches and kicks.

We want Mewtwo because of his sheer uber-ness everywhere but in Smash. He is supposed to be a Pokemon demigod of sorts forged from a fossil of Mew. If you want to see how he should have been able to fight, go find a copy of the 1st Pokemon movie. He deflects Hyper Beams without flinching, blocks all kinds of physical attacks while the opponent is several feet away, and can pick up enemies from a distance and throw them much farther.

Apparently, you can only use the Samus --> ZSS trick as Power Suit Samus. Oh, well...

I think the reason they took Mewtwo out is because in melee, he was so weak, in comparison to his appearances in the games and the movie. So they had two choices.
1. Make Mewtwo all powerful like he was, thus making him the only sane choice for a match, lest you be bested by the person who IS playing Mewtwo.
2. Replace him.
Obviously, they chose option 2.
They couldn't make him a subspace emissary boss, 'cause, you remember the first movie? And how he became good in the end? You know, right after Ash gets revived? And I've never really seen Mewtwo do anything evil in the games, aside from having a base happiness of 0, which just makes it cold and distant, not evil.

So no Mewtwo. At least Lucario is awesome enough to make up for it. I mean, he got his own movie, too, ya know.

Edit: Also, this transform into ZSS anytime thing is just another reason Samus is awesome. Also, her forward B (missile) now has the super missles look more distinctive than regular missiles. Again, awesome.

Lucario DOES have psychic powers? Crap, didn't know that. I apologize. :smallfrown:

Still, I think there's more than those two options for Mewtwo (make him all-powerful or take him out). There's a middle ground, right? Make him MORE powerful than before, but not game-breaking.

They could easily come up with a reason for Mewtwo to be a boss, I think -- perhaps Lucario accidentally stumbles across Mewtwo's forest hideout, where he's keeping all his clones. Mewtwo rushes to his clones' defense, striking out at Lucario before the canine pokemon has a chance to explain. I mean, we all know the ratio of "People Mewtwo has met" to "People who want to cause Mewtwo harm" is pretty low. :smalltongue: Epic psychic vs. psychic duel, Lucario wins and explains who he is and what he's doing, they resolve their differences, Mewtwo helps Lucario proceed in some way out of respect (teleports him where he wants to go, perhaps), end of awesome encounter. I'm sure you've spotted many holes in this plan, but this is only one theory -- if they put their mind to it, they can find any number of explanations for this battle.

Sure, maybe he won't be a boss. Maybe Mewtwo truly will just disappear from the Smash universe altogether. Stranger things have happened. But you can't deny that Lucario vs. Mewtwo would be a duel of epic proportions. Imagine that in a MOVIE...?

As you said, I have found more holes in that idea than I have in freshly "used" bubble wrap *pops another bubble*. A battle of epic proportions between them you say? I can see it now...

Lucario uses Aura Sphere.
It's not very effective...
Mewtwo uses Aura Sphere.
It's Super Effective!
Lucario uses Gameshark.
Lucario transforms into Arseus!
It's Super Effective!
Lucario's health is fully restored.
Mewtwo faints.
Mewtwo is revived by the effects of Action Replay Device.
Mewtwo uses Hyper Beam.
Mewtwo uses Frenzy Plant.
Mewtwo uses Blast Burn.
Mewtwo uses Hydro Cannon.
Lucario faints.
Mewtwo gains 999999999 exp.

Wild Pokemon Trainer appeared!...

Anyway, the point is, Mewtwo isn't in brawl. His secret unlocking code might be found in April's issue of whatever gaming magazine you read, but that's about it.

And just in case you don't get it, I'm referring to how they always have April fools day codes in the April edition of every gaming magazine. Just in case.

Lucario is a fighting/steel stype. Aura Sphere is a fighting type move. It's like a blast of Ki energy. It is NOT psychic. In the games he can only learn Rest, Calm Mind, Agility and (as a TM) Psychic. That's only one move and hardly constitutes Lucario as being "psychic".

Diamond and Pearl brought the special/physical split. Now every type has special or physical moves, such as Psychic having Zen Headbutt and Fighting having Aura Sphere.

Lucario learns more physical moves than special moves.

Mando Knight

However, Lucario's special attack is far above par, his defensive typing is good against a lot of different enemies, and his notable special attack moves are all high damage, 100% hit ratio (except for Aura Sphere, that's a guaranteed hit against anything other than a Ghost). He's got rare and powerful moves... he's one of two non-legendaries that can learn Aura Sphere, one of a mere handful that can learn Dragon Pulse by level-up, and the ever-popular Psychic is the definitive Psychic move... and the only one I've got on my Alakazam or my Mewtwo... and can actually learn almost the same moveset as what I'm going to put on Mewtwo: Aura Sphere, Psychic, Shadow Ball, and an extra move...

Also, his Pokedex text states that he has the ability to read minds through the auras... seems to me to be an application of psychic powers through his aura abilities...

Lucario is basically a non-uber Mewtwo... who can be bred and stuff into an army thanks to Ditto...

Anyways, crazy idea: What if there will be super-secret character updates through the same servers that allow Nintendo to send players new level data? It could cost a lot of Wii memory to have a lot of downloaded characters, but that's what SD cards are for...

Won't happen. This is Nintendo we're talking about they won't do something so major if not everyone can get it. Even if most people have the internet they won't do it. The characters would also have to be originally on the disc, the unused characters on the disc are basically just empty folders with a tiny bit of code in them, no textures or models. If anything they'll release an expansion disc, but this is Nintendo. They probably won't do it, I also doubt Sakurai would want to carry on after years of making the game to carry on making it for an extra few years.

I would argue that Lucario is not psychic, because a) He's clearly Fighting/Steel type. Just because you can learn Psychic doesn't make you Psychic. Look at Blissey. Do you think that one is psychic? I don't. And b) auras are different than reading minds and throwing people across the room with your mind, like Mewtwo does.

His Attack is also above average. There's only about a 10 point base difference in Lucario's SpA and his Atk. His notable physical moves are also all high damage (Close Combat? Earthquake? Extremespeed?). Also...Ditto has a rare and debatably powerful move. Is he really legendary? I would have to assume not.

And no, they won't do that.

MEwtwo and Bikini Island confirmed for Brawl DLC/Expansion disc. Discuss.

Seriously though, I notised this on Smashboards and thought it was interesting:
This is a description of Sakurai's speech at the GDC:

Finally, we are very pleased to present the first postmortem of a major 2008 title, Development - Super Smash Bros. Brawl by Kirby and Smash Bros. veteran developer Masahiro Sakurai. With an eye to fine-tuned balancing, Sakurai shares what worked and didn't work integrating a variety of different characters as well as online play in adapting this modern classic to the Wii. Definiitely mark this featured talk on your schedule.

So we may find out a bit about why certain characters never made it to the final version then.

Oh boy, I leave the thread for a few days and look what heppsn. Let's see...

Obvious Pun, just because a character is unbalanced in one game doesn't mean he can't be rebalanced in later ones. It wasn't as simple as two choices- don't be throwing in false dichotomies here- They could have easily boosted his power by a moderate amount. I mean, they're not THAT shackled by relative power levels, or at all.
In short, "But he sucked in Melee!" Is no excuse for him to be back in. It was likely it happened because the executives thought Lucario would be more recognizable than Mewtwo.

Also, Lucario Isn't Psychic- Keep in mind ESP and Ki are considered different things. One uses the power of the mind, the other uses wierd Feng-shui stuff. Similiar effects, different sources... Different Types. (Remember, Solarbeam, Hyper Beam, and Aurora Beam are all Beams, but they have different sources and thus different types. Same principle.)

Third, this might just be a baseless rumor, but word is after digging through the files apparently people have found almost incomplete character data for various left-out characters, Mewtwo included. Namely the model data without things like anchoring it to a motion frame or anything like that. In short in it's current state it's unusable. However, they're almost the same size as other character datas, and it seems it would takepatches of minimal size (and rather, simply access to the proprietary software and the SSBB online servers or lack thereof) to patch them. Possibly just a few blocks per character as enabling bytes.
Of course, "Dummying" like this isn't unheard of, and chances are low nintendo aren't going to do anything with the data, but it would be cool if they did. I'd pay 5$ for a patch to let me play as Mewtwo in Brawl.

I dunno if I'd pay 5$ for one character... I probably would eventually, after being worn down. :smalltongue: But I like the idea. This is intriguing, to say the least...

Edit to avoid double post: Heh, six years of Melee and still nothing's changed. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB_mnh8c53M&feature=related) Pro matches still consist of Fox vs. Marth on Final Destination. :smalltongue:

Of course, it's much more entertaining to watch now, with the climactic music to truly set the mood of two pros clashing in an epic battle. However, I think they're still used to Melee; several times they both seem to randomly air dodge up... I suspect as a failed wavedash.

Something I just saw about Subspace Emissary. http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=912963

"I myself did not expect the game to last this long, and it took over 8 hours to complete this mode, and that was only at 82%. This is because there are things to unlock still, even after completing the game.", a quote from Thunderbolt, which gave the game a 10/10. So, I'm guessing in the ballpark of 8 hours (the guy might have done it really fast). I like that, I'll have a blast playing it and probably go back and do it a few more times.

Does anyone else think that Kirby sounds funny imitating the grunt Ganondorf does with Warlock Punch? It's just so...cute!

Kirby is such a great character.

Did you notice how Wolf's blaster shot seemed slower and larger? Is Wolf a slower and stronger Fox? Hmm. If he is...that might be interesting. I might want to try that.

And in response to whoever commented about the "people trying to play Melee 2.0", yeah, I think that's what most people would do. From an outsider's point of view, the game hasn't changed that much. Lucario replaces Mewtwo, and there's no clones, but besides that, I think every other character has returned. Sure, there's new characters and stuff, but all the old stuff is there and, besides Final Smashes, which aren't that hard to get used to I can imagine, nothing major has changed. When we went to Melee, everyone got a new special move. That seems much more major than the Final Smashes. Thus, I imaging people will be trying to play Brawl as Melee 2.0 for a while. However, eventually people will start realizing that, for example, Olimar is really, really good and start winning with him.

Okay, something I've been wondering about that Kirby video brought up.
How does Sonic's Homing Attack work?
On ground, it seems to just float into the air then attack the nearest person.
If Sonic is already in the air, will it go a lot quicker?
I've seen tons of videos of Sonic, just none where his homing attack comes in.

That video did also help assure me that Wolf is going to be different to Falco and Fox, which makes me happy.

These are my impressions of the game from the couple of days I was playing with friends on his imported copy. Bear in mind, I'm the worst player out of my group of friends:
-Marth is still just as good, and many of his combos work just as well if not better. Sigh.
-Without washdashing, Luigi is still viable (But probably still low tier), but not as fun. I feel like a low-rent falcon when I play him now.
-Peach plays pretty much the same except you can't crouch-cancel into the down-smash unless you mess around with your controller settings.
-Falcon's knee is more powerful, but harder to hit with, so it's no longer his best move. This has made some people I know upset because their main strategy with him is: "Never stop kneeing".
-Bowser is still fun, but now he's better. I still suck with him and didn't get any kills in a free-for-all despite getting his final smash a few times.

You have to charge it up a little, even when it's in the air. He doesn't go higher when he charges it in the air, I think. It doesn't go too far either, and it homes weird if you're below the plane of the stage (In other words, into a wall). A bunch of his moves have start-up time or lag, which means he isn't really the fastest there is when it comes to attacking. His running speed is insane though.

Why does everyone miss Mewtwo? I miss Roy. He was like Marth, but bad. He was wonderful to play as.

I wouldn't claim that any clone does not have an equivalent. Mario, meet the Doc. Pichu, meet Pikachu. Look, it's your equivalent. Thus why they're called clones.

Because they're not fun, they're clones. I'd rather have completely different characters, which is why Wolf, Falco, and Ganondorf piss me off so much. Can't you give them alternate move sets or at the very least pick different characters? Is Falco really more popular than Krystal? Come on.

Also, the Doc, Pichu, and Roy are not nearly as iconic as any of the other characters in Smash (except possibly Lucas and ROB, but that depends on who you are). If I were to pick people to cut, I'd pick them.
